After getting a snickerdoodle from Hudson's Cookies in Atrium Food Court at Fashion Island, Newport Beach, I strolled on over to Happy Lemon (HL) that's right next door. This is my 2nd time visiting HL. First time here though. I forgot what I ordered last time so I had to try something new. I saw Green Tea with Salted Cream and thought it might be a good choice. Somehow green tea was a bit bitter for my taste. Salted cream was nice and smooth. Just wasn't the best combination IMHO. Cute cup though! Young lady staff was nice and cordial. Price was decent. I'll have to try their other specialty drinks to see what's actually good at HL. I haven't found it yet. For now, I'm not quite convinced. Although, my nephew loves their drinks. I'll have to ask him what he likes at HL.
We stopped at Fashion Island on our way back from San Diego. After doing a bit of holiday shopping, we made our way to Happy Lemon. The daughter has not had this in a while, so she was quite excited for that salted cheese drink and Bubble Waffle with Puff Cream. I love the consistency with Happy Lemon. Everything we order tastes wonderfully the same at every location and the staff is always friendly.
A huge disappointment. This is our first visit to a Happy Lemon location, so I'm not sure if this is how the drinks usually taste, but we were quite disappointed. The menu offers a decent range of items, but the recipe needs a lot of work. Our drinks were crazy watered down, and the boba was rock hard. * Strawberry Green Tea: 3/10 - mostly water with a hint of strawberry * Passionfruit Green Tea: 4/10 - the passionfruit seeds made it hard to drink * Boba: 1/10 - barely cooked and very hard The shop is located in the food court of the Fashion Island outlet, so there are a bunch of tables and chairs to sit at. Unfortunately, it means that you'll have to park and walk quite a bit to actually get to the shop. Although we didn't enjoy our drinks, the workers were very nice and friendly. Will not be returning.

It had the perfect sweetness level for me, boba consistency was nice and chewy. The milk tea was very tasty, it all blended together so well. For me, the drink nailed the "sweet but not too sweet" component perfectly. There wasn't a long line when I went up to order around noon. Service was good and pretty quick. Like I said before, I have no complaints and I'll be back again and again. However this time, I got the Boba Milk Tea with Puff Cream with light ice and light sugar. Happy Lemon is a franchise I heard about but only recently tried during a visit to Fashion Island. It is located in the lower level of the Atrium Court. There is an electronic kiosk in addition to a live person taking orders. I ordered the boba milk tea, and it was what I expected boba milk tea should be. After ordering several times, I can say they are consistent, and I appreciate that. Pricewise, it is reasonable at $6-7/cup, and this is less than their competitors. There are plenty of tables and seating in the court, and while it is not quiet, the noise can be ambient.

One was getting ready to leave, and the two girls were just not pleasant. They don't do punch cards anymore; they've switched to an app-based point-and-reward system. We got the cream puff boba milk tea and the black tea with salted cheese. Both drinks came out quickly, but for the price and mediocre service, we could have gotten them at other places in the mall. We took our drinks while walking around, so the ambiance is casual.

There wasn't that much of a line nor wait, but the food court itself was pretty packed. I wish they had more locations because I'm in love with passionfruit seeds and noticed they have it listed in their toppings options for $1.

Details: Matcha Strawberry w/ boba ($7.50) -Matcha not ceremonial grade very pastel green and turns white almost, almost tasted like pure milk -strawberry is too sweet -boba was fine, don't get with it though

Very disappointing experience. The staff were unprofessional and extremely rude. I asked for my boba to be made less sweet, but it wasn't. When I politely confirmed my request with them, they immediately started giving me attitude instead of trying to fix the issue. Customer service like this is unacceptable. I definitely won't be coming back and would not recommend this place. read more

Really great boba spot. The drinks taste fresh and not overly sweet, and you can actually taste the tea instead of just sugar. The boba itself is soft and chewy, not hard in the middle like some places mess up. They have a good variety too so it's easy to switch it up every time. Service was quick and the staff were friendly, which always makes the experience better. The place has a nice chill vibe, good for hanging out or just grabbing something to go. Definitely one of those spots you keep coming back to. read more

I got the boba bubble waffle. It was so good! It was crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. I was so happy to find happy lemon in Newport Beach. The boba drinks were delicious. We waited about 30 mins or so for our waffle. It was definitely worth the wait. We had it with taro puff as well. I would definitely come back here again! read more

Surprisingly, their tea/drink selection at this location was limited compared to other Happy Lemon's I visited in the past. I ordered the green tea with salted cheese foam, but after I placed my order, they said they didn't have any more so I would have to substitute it with something else. The line wasn't too busy, but there wasn't a good way to see the menu until you reach the front, as their signage only shows their top 10 drinks. read more
Fresh brewed tea with a creamy foam top - Happy lemon does it best! The service was good and so were my drinks! Only thing is the inconsistency's in the amount of cream top and ice from location to location the ratio differs every time and sometimes the tea color is darker (as if it's been sitting or is the bottom of the roast color) In these situations I notice a subtle difference in the brew - a bit more of a bitter aftertaste still good but it does vary. read more

I got the Boba milk yea with puff cream, it was sooo good! I love the puff cream it just melts in my mouth. But next time I think I should get half sugar. But over all it was great!!! read more
Pretty visible in the bottom atrium food court. It's as popular as mochinut. Their number screen is a little confusing as its a timer? (How long a number waited?) And the numbers are small. The prices are more 5-6$. Drinks were made in a decent pace, ordering was simple. When I first had Happy lemon, they were known for their cheese foam drink ( plain tea, with cheese foam). I had fond memories of that so that's usually what I would recommend ( gotta sip it first before u mix). They don't have the mini qq taro balls at this location and the toppings range from 0.75-1$+. I got the boba milk tea at 50%, and it wasn't sweet at all so I think full sweetness is okay at this location. The boba was a bit hard though and flavor was mostly black tea. Overall, I was happy to see a happy lemon but I think there's better boba places in irvine for the price. If you're in the area and really want a drink or have kids, then I guess it'll be popular. read more

Because it's been busy whenever I've gone on the weekends, I decided to try them on a less busy day and was able to stop by when doing returns at Nordstrom's yesterday. It is next to the cookie place and is on the same floor as Barnes and Noble, the gelato place, Five Guys, Panda Express, and Chick-Fila. They sell tea drinks and bubble waffles. On Wednesday it was very quiet and there was no line, which is great if you're looking to go on a less busy day. The pair behind the counter seemed to be doing some training and they wrapped it up before waiting on me and thanking me for my patience. As the name implies, a lot of their drinks have lemon as the star flavor profile. I was in the mood for something without caffeine, so I went with the lemon Yakult with half sweetness and no aloe. (If you do leave off the aloe, you could replace with something else, but yesterday I was content without having boba or any extras on this drink.) You get a number for your order and they show it on the screen as they work on it and other orders in the queue. Once your drink is done, they put it out on the counter to the left of the machine that seals the top of the cups. As I was the only one there at that time, my drink was made very quickly and was ready in a minute or so. At half sweetness, this was pretty well balanced with the lemon and Yakult flavor. I might want to try it at 30% out of curiosity, but this one was good. Staff were friendly and worked to get the orders done. There are plenty of options for parking - either you can pick a surface lot or one of the structures for Fashion Island. read more

Went for stroll at the Fashion Island didn't know there is a bubble tea shop here so I give it a try. Food: I ordered Mango green tea. I didn't adjust the sweetness level it turns out just right not too sweet. I can taste the fragrance of the tea along with mango bits and mango boba add an extra taste, it complements the drink very well. Yummy! Service: one staff but friendly. Ambience: located in the food court. read more

Happy lemon is located in the fashion Island food court. It's nice and clean and great service. I ordered the mango Matcha smoothie with Boba for the first time and it was delicious. I've tried this place a few times and it's very good. read more
So happy that Happy Lemon opened up here! A little disappointed because the drinks were okay, as I had expected them to be better. I had the mango tea and I appreciated that their were mango bits in it because it was a great touch! I will definitely come back to give it another try because I came during their early opening. read more
