This was totally disappointing. I used Groupon to try them out. We were unhappy with everything we had. They are not the best prices in town. It was expensive. For 3 people, we had 3 entrees, 2 appetizers and it cost us over $100. The food was cold. The fish was bland. The hush puppies were burnt. The fried oysters were not done. The Bar-B-Q chicken was dry. I wrote to them to tell them I was disappointed and give them a chance to serve better food and the NEVER replied. read more

Just moved to the area and stumbled upon this place. Unassuming outside and I would have probably drive. By the place a million times if it is not been for a friends recommendation. It's a keeper. Good pit beef sandwich with old bay chips and a big pickle. Friendly and unpretentious staff. Picnic tables and country music. I'll be back again for sure. read more

Pit Boys is a great little family owned place. We enjoyed a dozen large crabs. They were cooked to order, hot and heavy. Friendly, attentive service and football (soccer) on TV. Will definitely return. FYI BYOB. read more

Huge portions of meat, hot fries. Bun for sandwich was sad, I didn't notice/smell grilled food upon my entry, meat was lukewarm at best. Ambience is irrelevant at any pit beef place, but it was pretty orderly at the fixins and drink station, staff was nice and friendly. Me being a pit beef fan, I will definitely return, and I recommend you try this place for yourself. read more

New location is a fail. 2nd visit and another disappointment. Sandwich ordered was cold and didn't include the extra cheese I had ordered. This was a takeout order so I couldn't even get the order fixed. When I called to let them know, the manger seemed to care less. Never again. read more

I recently had Pit Boys Catering at a Gala at a local jewelry store. I was super hungry and on my way to dinner. Each tray that came around had a creative assortment of Maryland favorites. The food was delicious and fresh. The wait staff were professional and courteous. After snacking on each tray I had no need to go anywhere else. I can't wait to have them cater my family reunion. My family will really enjoy sampling a taste of Maryland. If you are looking to class up an event with professional catering or sample a taste of Maryland for a back yard bbq. I hv gotten food here several times since I moved here. It's practically is the only place u can go in and order food which is way too expensive for what u get which is practically tasteless. I can say they hv grt slow cooked real baked beans! Their slaw is tasteless. Who doesn't know how to make a vinegar, water, oil and sugar dressing? And add salt & pepper. They hv lousy cooks who shld stick to Barbequeing. They charge way too much for sides. They give u about 6 med shrimp in their platter and charge $13. Maybe about 10 fried clams and 15 french fries. Our company recently had Pit Boys cater a party. The food was horrible. The beef and turkey were overcooked and dry. They had no bar b que sauce. The only rolls were hot dog rolls so if you wanted a sandwich you had to put the meat on hot dog rolls. We ordered crabs and they were very watery. So when you picked them up they dripped yellow water on yourself. People were walking around with yellow stains on there clothing. It was the worst catered food i ever had. When Doug Macey used to own pit boys it was good but they have gone downhill. Adams Ribs is a much better choice. read more

I only write something on here if a place is really good or really not good. I should have checked the reviews first. The pulled pork was lukewarm, at best, and tasted like it was cooked a week ago and barely reheated and soaked in grocery store bbq sauce. It could have come out of a frozen pan for all I know; definitely not fresh. I can make better pulled pork in a crock pot at home. The Mac & Cheese (and I'm willing to put money on this bet) tasted just like frozen Stoufers Mac and Cheese you buy in the grocery store freezer. Either that or it came out of a can. Not good. The home-made chips, tasted old and stale, were not crisp and not seasoned. The hush puppies need some work, flavor was ok, but the consistency was all wrong, either the mix was too wet or the fryer was too hot or a combination of both. Literally the best thing was the pickle spear. Sad! I really wanted to like the place. Not really what I think of when I think of BBQ. The name does not suit the food. Not sure they even actually have a pit. Did not smell like it. Really not good food; staff was friendly and attentive. read more

VERY impressed with Pit Boys! We had them cater our wedding after searching for bbq restaurants that catered, and they definitely had the most extensive options out there. From oysters to crab stuffed mushrooms, etc. They even made a few items that weren't on the menu for our vegetarian friends upon request. Marla was awesome and made sure everything was taken care of, including saving some food for me since all brides know, you really don't get time to eat at your wedding till either the very end, or your sister takes you and feeds you a plate. They kept the food coming, and everyone who attended gave me rave reviews about the food. SO glad we found them as a caterer, as other companies had not even half the menu they offered, and the prices they were asking.....um yeah. Very happily surprised at what we got with Pit Boys. Food is good but it smells really bad in there. I recommend them getting some spray to make it better.

Would do zero stars if possible. This is all related to service. waited for 50 min to get lunch. Ended up leaving with out getting food due to slow service. They weren't busy and didn't order anything special from the menu. Very disappointed. read more

The pulled pork was very good. The pulled roast beef was great quality but needed some sauce for more flavor.

I ordered my usual pulled pork BBQ sandwich and once again pretty disappointed. Not only is the cost for sandwich and fries way to high for what you get, the pork has a burnt taste, probably a couple of days old. The sandwich, fries and a small side of slaw was $13+ and the were barely any fries as well as little meat on sandwich compared to mission and bayside. This is the last time eat here. read more

I was rooting for this place to be good. I love supporting local, family owned businesses. I will not be supporting this one. They did the thing you should never do- they teed (wish to use stronger word, but won't) off their customer. You've heard the phrase "penny-wise, pound-foolish?" That would apply to the management of this restaurant. It was not a professionally run restaurant. Here's a hint- if your wait staff makes a mistake (we all make mistakes), a) support her, don't throw her under the bus and b) own up to the mistake rather than pretending it never happened. When asked, my wife was given the wrong "market price" on an item. After the food was served and my wife started eating, we were told that the server made a mistake and were given a more expensive dish than the one with the lower price quoted. Okay. Stuff happens. But matters became worse when we were told that we would have to pay the higher price even though the whole matter was entirely the fault of the server. She was very young and it was clear that she was under-trained- that's managements fault, not hers. We thought we would work with her. We have kids. We know how important it is to help them succeed. My wife, pleasantly asked if we could split the difference in cost. The young server said she had to call someone (not the manager on site!) who told her to tell us to go jump in a lake. We would have to pay full price no matter what price they quoted us. They could have supported her, but they chose not to. Instead, they chose to embarrass her and embarrass us. At some point, the manager on site stopped by our table once (there was only one other table being occupied) and looked scared and skedaddled away from our table as fast as possible- not dealing with or asking about the price issue at all. We couldn't bring it up, he didn't get a chance. He asked us how our food was and didn't even stick around for an answer. He was so seemingly relieved not to have to talk to his customers. So, now that made us feel misused. Whoever owns this place- you need to take responsibility for this. Your staff is way under-trained. That's your fault, not theirs. We felt insulted and ripped off. You could have owned up to the server's mistake. You didn't. We would have to pay the price for it, literally. Thirdly, and not insignificantly, if your sign is a logo of a cartoon character drinking beer, you might want to serve beer at your restaurant. Then, when your customers ask if you have beer, you might not want to try and make them feel stupid for asking. Instead of "we don't have beer," maybe an "I'm sorry" would be cool. Have you trained your staff what to say when people ask if you have the product that's shown on your logo? No? You should. If you're not ready to open your restaurant, don't open your restaurant. We will never come to your conveniently located restaurant again and we will tell everyone, when asked, what a terrible experience it was. But, you saved $6 on the soft shell crab (and your server lost more than that in loss of a good tip). Congratulations. read more

Don't waste your time with this place. Had to find a caterer for my daughters engagement party. Filled out the online form to get help with picking a menu. Marla, the owner finally got back to me a couple days later. I requested a couple changes via several emails and phone calls and got no response. Called by phone and asked for help nailing down the final order. Marla was supposed to get back to me but never did. But why should she, she never returns emails either. Poor customer service. This was my first experience and will be my last. Take my advise, go to Annapolis Smokehouse down the road. read more

Just had Pit Boys cater our family reunion - it was fantastic. BBQ chicken was voted by one person to be "best I ever ate" - pulled pork was fabulous. Meatballs, chicken on skewers - a fruit platter that was HUGE and delicious, cheese platter, salads - you name it - it was on our menu. Marla and her crew was so accommodating - and everyone at the reunion declared it the best food we have had in 13 years of getting together. As a native Marylander, I've only recently even heard of bit beef style bbq. So, a few weeks ago when I was driving by, I decided to stop and grab a sandwich. I was not disappointed. It isn't a big shop, and it isn't fancy. But they clearly don't need to be because the food is outstanding. I ordered a pit beef sandwich, onion rings, and sweet tea. Topped the sandwich with horseradish and some bbq sauce for the rings and it was heaven. Don't let the look of the building deter you, because the food and staff are awesome. read more
