I did a pick up order here of the chicken wrap and I thought it was solid with flavorfully seasoned chicken and lots of vegetables in the wrap. The fries were also really good, like beer battered, even when I reheated some the next day. The bag came with ketchup and napkins and was ready for pickup on the shelf. When we first found Happy Chick off of Burnet it was our jam! This location is different and doesn't have any inside seating. Only a small drive thru and a walk up window. But it's hard to get in and out of. You can only get in on the feeder of 183 not through Costco. The have tenders and nuggets and a variety of sides and sauces. The combos are great because you get multiple sides depending on which combo you get. This recent visit the chicken tenders were way over cooked and too hard to eat. The nuggets were much better cooked and were a good size. The fries the luck of the draw if it'll be fresh or not after getting them. My kids need a sample in the car right away so it's as fresh as we can get jt. The Mac and cheese is good and the kids probably enjoy that the most. I will note the wait for your food takes a very long time and freshness is hit or miss after the wait. Apparently they offer kids eat free on Sundays with the purchase of an adult meal (posted in the drive thru window) but apparently they only honor it at the walk up window. Which is annoying since most parents would struggle to order at walk up window and have an extended wait with their children in the heat. Almost a bait and switch advertisement there. But overall the food is such a hit or miss it's hard to give this location a consistent recommendation. read more

As if the street and parking lot around Costco wasn't busy enough, here's another reason fight the traffic. Happy Chicks is worth the effort. It's a drive-thru take out place that will have you back in traffic in no time. The fried chicken tenders were fresh and savory. The French fries also had great flavor. The Mac & cheese and creamed corn sides are not car friendly, so I passed on those. Raising Canes was my go-to place for chicken strips, but Happy Chicks, although a bit more expensive, is taking its place. Also on the menu: boozy drinks and beer. read more

I paid for the food. I paid the tax on the food. Then they told me they are keeping my change. I was told by the employee that her drawer would be short if she gave me my 2 cents. But not giving me my change makes my cash drawer (my billfold) short. This corporation over time is creating a huge revenue stream. Keeping a couple of pennies here and a couple of pennies there over time will add up to a nice bonus at my expense for the corp or the employee if they are keeping their drawer overage. What am I getting for the additional charge? Again I have paid for the food and tax. Others are not penalizing the customer, they either give change or err on the side of the customer to keep them coming back. Happy Chick is taking a different approach. Screw the customer and pad their pockets. So I won't be back. read more

I worry that this location won't get enough traffic due to the location. There used to be a place I liked here called Terraburger and I would visit often (they had amazing sweet potato fries), but they went out of business and I'm pretty sure it was because it's just a hard location to get to. There's a Costco right behind it but there's no way to get to Happy Chicks from Costco. If they could convince Costco to pave a way to the restaurant somehow, they would have tons of business overnight. Probably too much for them to handle. Only thing I'm confused about is how someone can forget a side a meal already comes with. especially their creamed corn which is bomb! Gave this a try for kids eat free since we had a good experience with the Burnet Rd location last month. It was a good value - hot and hearty food. Plus my kid is very picky about mac and cheese. She liked Happy Chicks at both locations. We also enjoyed the secure play area for our child. Someone said the batter was bland. Maybe that person was used to MSG at Chic Fil A. Hopefully this place doesn't use MSG or high fructose corn syrup or food colors like other fast food places do. I have a feeling they don't. So I finally went the other day and spent $8 for one chicken tender and a small creamed corn. I thought that wasn't a terrible deal for a small meal. The chicken tender was big and had beautiful breading, but it was terribly dry. The flavor of the cream corn was divine but I swear there was barely a tablespoon mixed in with the creamy stuff! The filet that came in my sandwich was incredibly tiny, like 1/3 the size of the bun (maybe like 1.5x a chicken strip) . The hot honey sauce was really mid, and my drink was totally flat. I love that they don't skimp on the pickles. Lots of places will only put like 2 or 3 slices. I'm absolutely obsessed with the fries. They're different than most.
