We had family visiting that used to live in the area and they were back to visit and insisted that we go to Hapgoods. Being so close to home, Hapgoods was a happy little surprise for me. Met them for brunch and got the Eggs Benedict along with the maple pecan latte. The latte was very tasty. Food was good and service was fast! There was a very short wait for a table - plenty of available seating outside and inside was buzzing! After eating we decided to check out the new bar area that they opened on the other side. They opened the bar late this summer and are now serving dinner!

Stopped by for quick lunch last afternoon. Was busy but we got a table for 3 in less than 5 mins. Found parking in the lot nearby.Friendly welcoming staff. Had the spicy shrimp n grits, kitchen sink omelette and the breaded chicken w mozzarella, roasted pepper, arugula n balsamic. All generous portions. Hmm the spicy shrimp n grits was so delicious w the peppers n chorizo.was to die for. The kitchen sink omelette was v healthy n tasted good. Came with home fries that was good too. And the chicken sandwich was good too. The side salad was fresh refreshing n tasted good. Tx u for a great Sunday lunch. Will be back again.

Came here for an early Mother's Day lunch and was beyond satisfied with the food. Food: my entire family enjoyed their lunch with great options such as shrimp avocado wrap, but the appetizer of confetti fries and meal of chicken and waffles blew me away. Chicken and waffles were nearly perfectly done and offered a great apple cinnamon butter which accentuated the meal. Service: expect a little bit of a wait when it is busy as there busing a lot of tables and it appears nonstop busy. Lian was excellent and took care of all of our needs. Ambiance: deceivingly large place with multiple styles of seating and outdoor seating where we stayed nestled away in a nice residential neighborhood.

Good spot for friends and families gathering; good food and nice contemporary ambiance. We had their pulled pork fries nachos with Mediterranean wraps, and both were delicious.

I did not like the burger or the fries, I thought the burger tasted salty and did not have enough of a mushroom taste, and the fries were really lacking in cheese and just mid tier. For how expensive this was it was a huge let down and I will not be going back and can't recommend it for anyone. I can say The service was good, the waitress was friendly and attentive. And the inside was nice and had lots of seating indoor and outdoor.

Inconspicuous location. Wouldn't know this gem was around if it wasn't for Yelp. Inside it looks like it's an old home turned well made restaurant. The service was super prompt and great overall. The food was excellent and huge portions. There's a lot to try and a large breakfast/brunch menu. Will be back to try more dishes in the future!

No restrictions for baby feet posted in the restaurant.

The food is delicious priced according to the quality and the location. Service is excellent, everyone is welcoming and attentive. The atmosphere is charming, an updated version of an old building captures a time when things were different and slower in New Jersey.

Lunch with friends at Hapgoods in Mountain Lakes. As close as it is,I can't imagine why I haven't been here before. Lively, vibrant place with a great vibe and interesting architecture. An original 1912 refurbished Hapgood house; this building has a lot of history behind it. Spacious, airy, casual, and comfortable, it all came together to provide an enjoyable dining experience. American cafe type menu, offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with a nice array of choices on the menu, and the food was very good. Cold beer, wine, and cocktails are also available. The service was excellent; thank you Fernanda. 08/09/2024

Inside, the dining area is spacious, and tastefully furnished with a nice warm fireplace in the room. The bar area has plenty of seats and TVs for sports fans. Our server Angela B. was so very pleasant, and attentive. She informed us about weekday events held at The Barn (trivia, bingo, vinyl night) and what sounded like a great Brunch Sat/Sun. We will be returning to experience some of them. We started with "Barnachos" ($18) containing a generous portion of pork (carnitas) and the usual nacho components. No pump cheese here though! Yay My wife had a lovely Greek salad ($19) with feta, grilled chicken, olives, onions, etc. I had a Meat Lovers pizza: pepperoni, sausage, cheese, sauce, peppers, onions, olives, etc ($22). The pizza was served piping hot. The portions were all generous and the food was delicious. We were too full for dessert! First, our waiter was rushing us taking our order, but I'm not sure why because maybe half the tables were taken and he was a bit Kurt with us. We ordered the Barnchos for the table and it was mostly just chips, barely any protein on it. Half our table of 9, the food wasn't even hot. Not all of us were done with our meals, when the waiter came back over trying to take everything away. It was if they were rushing us out & we couldn't understand why because there were so many open tables. At least they took 3 of the meals off the bill, but that being said I'd probably won't ever go back. Something is just not working right at this place and like I said before it's a shame because it's a perfect location.

(Reservations are not that easy to make last minute.) The restaurant is big and open but always busy. Kids get wax craft sticks to play with and bend into cool shapes, which I find very unique and cool. I feel like there is a difference between a diner and a true brunch place. A diner, of which there are numerous in New Jersey, is a establishment that churns out inexpensive, and potentially excellent, but very standard breakfast food - omelettes, pancakes, benedicts and the like. A true brunch place, on the other hand, offers things like lemon ricotta pancakes, cacio e pepe scrambles, mushroom thyme omelettes and shakshuka. Willow & Whisk is that kind of brunch place, and which is rare in New Jersey. The food options are varied, very tasty, and with good portion sizes. When I stopped by here with my top-tier chums, we initially speculated on why this place is so…read morepopular (parking was a little crazy and there were small lines of people waiting to sit down throughout our meal). The obvious theories were that it was either really good or the only game in town. Based on our experience, it's a little from Column A, a little from Column B. We came for brunch this past Saturday around 11:30am. None of us had been here before, but it was roughly a "meet in the middle" type of situation conveniently located off of 202. Although all of the nearby parking spots in this strip mall were occupied, it's a big enough parking area that it wasn't difficult to locate a spot further away closer to the road. Little annoying, but it is what it is and could have been worse. Inside was similar - part of it for sure was due to our timing, but it was crowded and a bit chaotic. I went in first to secure seating, and we lucked out with a table near the door immediately. The biggest knock on Red Barn is that it's just not that comfortable, at least in that seating section by the counter. It's picnic tables for the most part with no seat backing, and you are RIGHT up against your neighbors - I bumped into the back of the guy behind me several times. The obvious solution is both normal tables/seats and/or removing one of the picnic tables to give everyone a little more breathing room. Honestly, it reminded me of the worst parts of NYC restaurants, where they basically jam in as many tables and chairs as possible as a cash grab. Easy fix, and I'm surprised it hasn't been done. The menu was legit, and put a lot of my initial concerns to rest. It's gigantic (befitting a diner-esque establishment), with both lengthy breakfast and lunch sections, along with a specials menu that could have been a standalone menu in most places. I was in the middle of a physically active day and got a little naughty (which I regretted later, but that wasn't Red Barn's fault), opting for the Biscuits & Gravy entree, which also came with two eggs and hash browns. Honestly, too much food and in hindsight I would have just gotten the Biscuits & Gravy, especially since my companions and I split pancakes w/ strawberries on top as well. Lesson learned. Everything was very good; nothing mind-blowing, but it did the job. The Biscuits & Gravy was an insane portion, featuring four biscuit halves. I thought the eggs needed a bit of pepper for flavoring purposes, but beyond that no discernable issues with any of the food. The service was very good and essentially matched the chaos in there. Our waitress was understandably very busy, constantly moving around, and yet stopped by regularly. Additionally, all of our orders were on the table within about 10 minutes or so. No issues whatsoever in that regard. Additionally, the bathrooms were a delight, covered in quirky signage. As mentioned, this is kind of a weird area where you don't have a real downtown/Main Street section to meet up with people, so it's a big plus when you find a random, decent establishment.

The service is consistently great too. It does get very busy, so I recommend joining the wait line before you go--once you arrive, just check in at the desk and they'll give you a good idea of the wait and how many parties are ahead of you. Pro tip: anything on the menu with "hash" in the name--get it. The Belgian waffle is fluffy, lightly sweet, and just a little crunchy, especially with the warm syrup and butter. The Million Dollar Bacon is easily in my top three menu items--don't skip it. This location is in a busy shopping complex, but there's always plenty of parking.
