Came here for the first time with my cousins to celebrate a birthday. The ambiance is very cute and cozy which I really like. We were a group of 8 with a toddler so we got placed in the back of the restaurant in a cozy corner. The waitress was super nice and friendly. Gave us time to go over the menu and then came back and brought us all waters and then took our drinks orders along with our food order as well. I ordered the huevos rancheros with poached eggs and added steak pieces to get extra protein and she literally delivered just that!!! The food was absolutely delicious and by far my favorite huevos rancheros I have had in so long. My cousins ordered 2 fried French toast, mozzarella sticks, one ordered steak and eggs another ordered Philly cheesesteak, shrimp avocado wrap. I highly highly recommend anyone and everyone to come here to try their food! I will have to come back here on my next visit back to jersey again! read more

I went to Hapgoods after a half day at school to grab lunch with a few of my friends. The first thing that threw me off was the fact that since I was a teenager I was forced to sit outside because some kids in the past had been "disruptive". Also I understand that lunch is a busy time of day, but the fact that my friends and I waited 20 minutes for our drink is absurd. A few hours after I paid $17 for three chicken tenders and some fries I noticed that I started to get pains in my stomach. I didn't think anything of it until my friends started saying they had stomach pains too. We all ended up getting sick later that day. All in all it was an unpleasant experience. read more

This place is SO cute! I love the setup and décor, the food, all of it. Great breakfast/brunch spot and recommend calling for reservations on the weekends. They have champagne for mimosas and you can BYO, I believe. The parking situation can suck if they're at full capacity (which is often the case), but there are plenty of alternatives around. read more

After a long day shopping with the kids, I decided to give this place a try. The location is pretty convenient too. We were greeted with a smile by Adrian the host, then promptly seated. This is a really cute place for brunch. It's busy but not too loud. There is a lot of room between tables and you don't feel cluttered at all. The food was really good. I had a #4 (buffalo chicken wrap) w/ side of macaroni salad. The menu had a lot of options and everyone at my table was able to get something they wanted. I would definitely come back. read more

Visited 09/28/2019 for lunch We were on our way to garlic festival in Saugerties when we ran into about 15 miles of traffic. Figuring we could stop and maybe go the next day, we turned around to try Plan B. Head for the open houses of Mount Tabor. On the way there, we stopped at Hapgoods and had a truly wonderful breakfast. Nothing fancy, just good food, good service and good coffee. My wife had the eggs Benedict, while I had their steak and eggs. Both were served as requested. No wait, my wife's eggs were done a bit too much. She likes them runny, but that could be her fault because she asked to have the Taylor ham done well and (we believe) got the eggs done well instead. Anyway... My boyfriend and I came here on a Friday night. We started with the nacho fries. The portion was small and they were ok but not amazing. I ordered a cup of chicken noodle soup. The portion was rather small and the soup was just ok. The vegetable were slightly hard and they used elbow noodles (maybe not the best for chicken noodle soup?) I got the truffle burger which again was good but nothing to write home about. My boyfriend had the steak au poivre sandwich and really enjoyed it. Overall our meal was ok and the service was fine. One of my favorite brunch places in the area. Staff is very very friendly. I have never been here when it isn't busy but even when Hapgood's is busy they all manage to keep their customers happy. They have a nice area outside to enjoy the weather on beautiful days like today or enjoy your meal inside. I love coming here for a relatively healthier meal. The vibe here is awesome and the staff is so kind. They recommend some amazing dishes. Brunch is my favorite meal and I always come here for it. I love the omletes and the oatmeal is amazing. If you are trying to be healthy and want something that is delicious, the salads are pretty spectacular. I came with my coworker and she absolutely loved it. She got a burger, so meat eaters, this place has some quality food. We were fortunate enough to find this place on our way home. Tried the California Eggs Benedict and girlfriend had the Au Poivre sandwich. Mine was most yummy! Yolk ran over the home fries and made it yummier! Girlfriend said sandwich had awesome flavor and was tasty for a sandwich version of the classic. Save room for dessert and try the Banana bread pudding! If you don't save room, get it to go! It'll be up to you to decide to take ice cream to go but the rest of it is DELICIOUS! Took my wife and daughter there for Mother's Day breakfast. They had a limited menu for Mother's Day which was basically a few dishes on their regular menu at an extremely expensive price for the day, coupled with smaller portions than on the regular non holiday menu. $45.00 for a choice of a few items that are normally 12-18 bucks any other day. We ordered steak and eggs which is 18.50 on their regular menu. I ordered my steak medium, the dish came out with the "steak" cut in cubes, well done, and cut in cubes to hide the smaller than usual portion, one slice of toast and maybe a tablespoon of home fries. Price included a drink "coffee" and dessert, which one of the desserts offered was a lava cake. I ordered the lava cake, they gave me a brownie with mint chocolate chip ice cream instead, and told me they supposedly sold out of lava cake, I doubt they even ever had it at all. They never came out and asked me what I wanted instead since the lava cake was supposedly sold out. I told them I don't want the brownie, especially with mint chocolate chip ice cream (which I don't like). They never even offered me something else, I pushed it away from and the server actually pushed it back towards me. On top of all this they sat us at a table they placed inbetween the entrance window and a bar with barely any room for anyone else to get passed us from behind, yet they have this giant sofa placed in the center of the restaurant. Clearly the sofa and table should be swapped in place to appropriate make room for this inconveniently placed table. I completely understand restaurants creating special menus on holidays at higher than usual prices, but it's usually done in a manner that doesn't make you feel like you just got raped, but this place clearly raped its customers on a holiday to make extra money. Ok, so I've heard rave reviews and have had Hapgood's in my list for quite a while. We carved out some time to stop in on a Saturday morning just before 10am and were pleasantly surprised to find no wait time and a mostly empty restaurant. Here's where the wheels started to fall off. We were seated immediately and then we were completely forgotten about. Customers came in after us and received water, coffee, and placed orders. After 10 minutes we had to go and ask only to be told they were confused and thought another waitress was taking care of us. I've got to be honest, this left a bad impression right from the get go. Yes, we were tended to and the wait was not unreasonable for food once we placed an order. I tried the tiramisu pancakes which were ok, but lacked major flavor... not to mention they were a bit dry. My husbands fried French toast was delicious with Nutella and fresh strawberries. I'll consider giving them another shot in the future, but will wait a while before going back. read more

Food and services are always consistently good. Great atmosphere. There's something warm and cozy about it eventho it's your typical restaurant/cafe. The Challah Bread French Toast is our all time favorite. It's a must. It's just a perfect dish to share as dessert or appetizer . The Truffle Mushroom Burger is also on the list. Good coffee as well..they keep it coming. So far not had a bad experience here. Wait staff are young but always so friendly and accommodating. It's good to see they have a good attitude which could mean good management as well. So bravo all around!! read more

First I would like to say the food is good !! The servers are all very attentive and always smiling .... They seem to all get along so well especially the way they work together behind the bar. It's great to see a nice work atmosphere although I was very taken back when I heard the manager with the glasses scold and belittle one of the servers and it made me so uncomfortable. The poor young fellow that was scolded as he was smiling and doing his job making coffee he literally turned so red and had to keep almost militant! What the jell is going on behind those doors?? Literally like a colt! I was just taken Back !! If you go there take note of the managers behavior! It's so terrible! It looks like he's so nice but then I saw his behavior and I can not believe this is how someone runs a business. These servers are the ones doing all of the hard work !!! We were in the area and looking for a nice local spot for breakfast and stumbled upon Hapgood's. In what looks like it was previously someone's home, Hapgood's serves up some homemade breakfast and lunch dishes. We were seated right away, although unfortunately we were seated right next to the door so we did get that cold breeze every time the door opened up. We started with coffee, which actually wasn't impressive, and came in a small mug with a very tiny handle (my boyfriend could barely fit one finger inside to lift it). Waters were served in mason jars, which were unfortunately never refilled. The menu options are pretty extensive, my only wish was for a few other vegetarian sandwich options. I ordered the buttermilk pancakes with a side of toast- I'm glad I ordered the toast because the pancakes weren't very big. The toast came unbuttered, and although the butter was brought out softened, the butter didn't melt on the toast because the toast had already cooled off too much. The pancakes were made well, but something was a little bland, and I believe it was the syrup that was actually to blame. Hapgoods is my very favorite place for breakfast. Their omelettes are the fluffiest I ever had-- never dry. You can choose potatoes, fruit or a salad as a side along with your toast. We've been loyal Hapgoods diners for many years. However, today changed that after we received a disgusting to go meal. Our California Benedict had rotting avocado with pit peels still on it. The bacon was also undercooked so we couldn't eat it. You can get a stomach virus and now is not the time for that!! For the heavy price we paid, this was NOT worth it. The quality at this place deteriorated significantly and save your money for another place that is worthwhile and actually edible. I'm sad and shocked bc this place was good but you have to call them out when something is wrong! read more

Been wanting to visit for brunch for the longest time and was able to make it last weekend. I came with a girlfriend around noon on a Saturday. The place was packed, but we were able to be seated within minutes. The interior is so warm and inviting. I can't wait till they have the fire place on to sip coffee and read a book there. The place also looks ideal to host small parties or special events. I ordered the poached pear french toast and my friend ordered the california benedict. I am currently pregnant and have not been able to eat huge portions, but I finished my entire plate of french toast and have been dying to go back to get more! I also didn't realize they opened for dinner as well so we stopped in last night for a quick dinner. We got a salad with roasted vegetables and balsamic dressing as well as the pulled pork sandwich with fries. Everything was very tasty and cant' wait to come back. Such a cute spot! Found this place on a whim when searing restaurants near me and so happy we did. We went for lunch and they have such a great lunch menu - anything from appetizers, soup, sandwiches, wraps, paninis and they have it! We would definitely go back. We ordered a veggie wrap and a sandwich with grilled chicken, brie cheese, and pesto (a #11) and it was delicious! We loved the outdoor ambience on a quiet street surrounded by nature. Hapgoods is a nice local restaurant, better for breakfast than lunch. We go for breakfast regularly and enjoy it. Service is always good - friendly, responsive and usually young people who are fun to talk to for a few minutes. Food is generous and good! Husband loves the pancakes and the egg dishes are always cooked well. Lunch is a bit more hit or miss. Cold sandwiches are lacking but salads are quite good.
