Right on Baldwin Rd!
Pat M.

I frequently stop at Baldwin Pizza for lunch and when I do, I see Gourmet Cafe a few doors down. After looking at the website and reading a bio of the owner, I was looking forward to stopping in for lunch. Today I had the chance to stop in. This is a cool little restaurant, nicely decorated, with very friendly servers. I ordered the Open-Faced Tuna Melt. The sandwich and the pasta salad it's served with was delicious! The apples and cranberries with melted Swiss cheese on top was different but very tasty. There's many other great sounding choices on the menu, so I'll definitely be returning!

Awesome service and food! Be prepared if you want wine pick up a bottle on the way over since they don't have a license to sell but can pour yours. They were nice enough to give me a bottle of Pinot Grigio they had on hand.

Another great meal only equal led by the prompt and courteous service. Matthew and his team always hit the mark. This is our go-to when in town. The dishes are made to perfection, you can taste the love they have for food. The linguine with shrimp and scallops is such a dish. Jumbo shrimp and sea scallops served over al dente pasta in a savory pink vodka sauce...perfetto! No corkage as it's BYOB Gracie Mille, Matthew for an excellent meal.

We have been dining at Gourmet Cafe for years! Chef Matt loves cooking for and giving back to his community! From is amazing dishes to his huge heart, we just love supporting him! Not only has he fed us all these years, he's watched our family grow! He gives back by employing some of the best servers! They all feel like family after dining with them for the last 15 years out of the 18 years he's been in business! Thank you Matt for your culinary genius and for being the heart of Parsippany! Cheers!

It *was* Butterscotch Bread Pudding...

Writing a review from the table. Cute little strip mall restaurant. Enthusiastic crowd and staff. Owner circulated and chatted up some patrons. I made sure to let him know we were very pleased. Servers were all helpful and friendly. It was our first time here. We didn't have a reservation (we aren't locals), but they accommodated us anyway, happily. Make sure you have a reservation. Bread: Warm, toasty. Oh my goodness, the risotto croquettes. Do not miss these. That and a wedge salad would be a great light dinner! I didn't do light though: "Jersey" Carbonara (bacon and cream sauce). I asked if they could make it without onions, and it was no problem. Soft shell crab on special for the hubs. He was very pleased. It was light and flavorful. We are waiting for the famous butterscotch bread pudding as I type. BRB it's here!! Shame I didn't have patience to take a picture of it before we killed it. Wait! We were out of here for under a hundred bucks?! App, two entrees, and shared dessert.

Absolutely adorable, hidden gem. Everyone is extremely friendly and accommodating. The owner himself even comes over to your table to check on you. I started out with the breaded eggplant, tomato, and burrata , absolutely perfect, so creamy and delicious! I also ordered their famous drunken chicken parm, definitely lived up to the hype! I also had a side Caesar, which I could've had four bowls of so amazing! I can't wait to go back to try the rest of the menu !

Highly recommend making reservations as this is a small but nice BYOB restaurant. Came here for dinner on a Saturday evening and it did not disappoint. Food and service were good. parking is shared is with the other stores in the area. During the evening, the owner /chef of the restaurant went to each table to say hi and ask how everything was. Yes, we brought our own vino... complimentary fresh baked bread to start Appetizers to share: burrata and prosciutto special and caesar salad to share - both were good Entrees: Rigatoni with shrimp and crab meat and veal saltimboca - both enjoyed the entrees remember to make room for dessert: The pistachio gelato truffle was sooo good. Highly recommend it! Definitely will be back again to try more items from the menu and more pistachio truffle :)

The food and service is outstanding, although it is very noisy as they typically have a full house.

There's no restroom in the seating area (I'm sure they have one in the back) and the seating situation is super basic. I decided to eat in anyway, and the cashier very kindly brought me a paper plate with extra napkins. This drunk chicken sandwich (vodka sauce) was enormous; I knew right away that I'd have leftovers. The flavor was excellent. But I wish they wouldn't wrap the sandwich in foil like that. Not only does it look less appetizing, but I t really threatens to make the bread moist on the way to your house. Also I found the chicken a bit chewy. It is a bit out of the way, so there's plenty of parking when you get there.

Do not order this if you do not like olives. I never got served olives on a chef salad. I was hoping for a salad matching their sandwich portions. Little tiny scraps of Ham and cheese and barely a bit of turkey. My guest ordered ham, salami & provolone Sandwich, requested mayo, no mayo. Also requested to heat in oven (warm sub popular in many places). They absolutely refused to serve a heated sub. I will make a can of tuna and dump it over salad for tonight, and she took sub to heat in oven at home. The employee at the counter could tell we were not enjoying this lunch ($40 total) but did not seem to care. I will not be back. I have given this location 5 stars in the past.

The restaurant is located in a small strip mall on Rt 46 East in Parsippany. I've heard the chicken cutlet sandwiches were very good here, but I was in the mood for meatballs. The meatball sandwich was unbelievable! Loaded with meatballs on toasted bread with a delicious sauce, I loved it! There were so many meatballs, I had to eat some before I could eat the sandwich. The guy working behind the counter was very friendly. There were quite a few tables and it clearly looked like a lot of "regulars" here. I'm really glad I finally stopped here. Decided to try this spot out for lunch when I was craving a sandwich. The setting is basic, actually totally different than what I expected. Lands somewhere between a sandwich spot and grandma's Italian eatery. I'm always excited, so maybe that was off-putting to the guy behind the middle of the room counter, but who cares- I ordered two of the most gigantic, delicious fresh tasting sandwiches- I've had in forever. Go get you one.

Lunch panic averted -- and what a find!…read more I didn't bring lunch to work and was deep in the "what am I going to eat?" struggle when The Great Wazu popped up in my search. I'll admit, seeing that it was primarily a sandwich shop made me hesitate since I need gluten-free options. But I was thrilled to see they offer gluten-free bread -- and even more relieved when I spoke to the incredibly kind server who walked me through their celiac protocol. As someone who worries about cross-contamination, that conversation alone put me at ease. I originally planned to grab something quick and rush back to work, but I was pleasantly surprised by how spacious the place is. For a strip mall location in Parsippany, there's actually plenty of seating, and the atmosphere feels welcoming and comfortable. Bonus: tons of parking, which is always appreciated. The menu has so many tempting options -- sandwiches, wraps, salads, chips, sweet treats, and beverages. Once I saw they had gluten-free bread, I may have gotten a little carried away and ordered two sandwiches: the Walnut Cranberry Chicken Salad and the Italiano. No regrets! Both were generously portioned and packed with flavor. I was especially impressed that they use four slices of gluten-free bread per sandwich -- which is thoughtful since GF slices tend to be smaller. For the price, that extra effort really stood out. I also grabbed a side of coleslaw and their homemade potato salad -- both fresh, flavorful, and the perfect complement to the sandwiches. Friendly service, great gluten-free awareness, generous portions, and lots of variety -- I'm so glad I found this spot. I'll absolutely be back to work my way through more of the menu.

They use Boarshead meats so the turkey was actually very good. The cranberry sauce was cranberry sauce. Lettuce, tomato, check, check. The issue I had was the volume of mayo. I would estimate that there were two heaping tablespoons of mayo on the sandwich which is much too much. Upon first bite half of it ended up on my face instead of in my face. The multigrain bread was a bit of a miss as well. The slices were very thin and the texture is soft. The sandwich fell apart fairly easily which made it difficult to handle. I think a more substantial, thicker, firmer slice would be a better choice. I also ordered a side of coleslaw which really wasn't up to par. Again, very heavy on the mayo. More mayo than slaw. Even the flavor of the Dr. Pepper from the fountain was off. The service was very fast. With that said I was the only customer so it kinda had to be that way. There are plenty of booths for seating. Pretty basic decor. Perhaps I ordered the wrong thing? I will probably give Wazu another chance to see if that is the case or not.
