Hanny's is one of our favorite places, all that today was the first time we've come for lunch. It's in an old apartment store in downtown Phoenix. You can still see the signs with Pierre Cardin and other designers on the wall. There is an elevator shaft with a glass floor so you can look down, and you can also look up into what feels like a black abyss. This place is rumored to be haunted, and that certainly Spooks it up a little bit. The bathrooms are on the second floor and they are super cool with hot pink neon lights, and, as I learned today, some of the little bathroom stalls have blue neon. If you walk back a little further from the bathrooms there's a bench area with morning on lights. The whole thing is just kind of cool. There's a second bar upstairs. It's always been opened when we've come at night but it was closed today with a really cool divider with slidable tiles. The dining room is lovely with a large bar in the center and stools around three sides. Make sure to look at the super unique mannequin. It really is so fun! And the spookiest part is going down to the basement. The dark stairs have a couple of inches to the side, one with a doll that looks like it's crying, and one with a loteria card of a doll. When you get to the bottom there is a fenced off area with lots of dolls. Most people would say it's really creepy - - in fact, the entire basement is creepy but so cool. There's always a headless Asian doll in a different area of the basement every time we go. The menu has super thick crust pizzas just the way I like them. There's some regular entrees like airline chicken, burger, and of course sandwiches and salads. The cocktail menu is really nice, and we've gotten some excellent cocktails here. Our server was such a nice, attentive man. The food came out relatively quickly and was really delicious. My favorite thing to order there is the Carne Pizza, and it was as good today as it always is. Someone in our party ordered the hot honey bacon grilled cheese with orzo salad, a bunless burger which came with mushrooms and asparagus and a side of fries. Two people in our party got the special, which was really good. It was a half a pizza and for your side you got to choose orzo salad or fries. I've had the orzo salad there before, and it is really good. It was quite a bit different going in the day to Annie's. At night time you always have that cool slightly spooky feel, and it's not really there in the light of day. But it is a great place to go for delicious cocktails and food, and it's just kind of cool to see. I don't think Hanny's takes reservations. We've never made them, and while we have had to wait in the evening for a table, it's never been such a long wait that it would discourage us from going. Lunch time was relatively quiet, and while there were a few other parties, it wasn't packed as it sometimes gets in the evening. Parking is what parking is in downtown phoenix, but there are a few spaces on the street right in front of the building. I think Hanny's is a gem. The history of the building, the quirky little things like dolls in the basement and the glass floored elevator shaft make this place super cool. Personally, I love it! read more

First time in to this historic and cute restaurant in downtown Phoenix. Our service was amazing and the hostess was helpful in directing me to the restrooms which I just couldn't seem to find. Out food was delicious. I got the beet salad with chicken breast and it was very filling. It was served with goat cheese, arugula, pistachios and some kind of lemon vinaigrette. All the flavors meshed very well together. My husband got the prosciutto flatbread which was also very tasty. A generous amount of prosciutto, yummy red sauce, a healthy amount of arugula all served on a very thin crisp flatbread. Normally I am not a fan of extra thin pizza but it was really nice. For dessert we shared their house made tiramisu. It was so sinfully delicious. My pear martini was also bursting with flavor and was made with just the appropriate amount of sweetness that I could still taste the vodka read more

Usually the vibes here are awesome. Music is great. I come here more to sit and the bar and relax. I'm giving a lower rating based on the food because the spinach artichoke dip was more like a cheese salad than anything. The cheese wasn't melted either. My margarita was strong and perfect. Shoutout to the bartender! We came on Valentine's Day night and he seemed like he had a long shift but still served my friend and I. Said the dip had jalapeños in it and was a lil spicy. It did have some heat I'm not going to lie to thank him for warning me. I wish we ordered something else from the kitchen but it was last call so we panicked and got the dip. My 2nd time here and I'm a fan. Decent happy hour specials 3 to 6 pm Tuesday thru Friday. I had the calabrian pizza crisp and spinach artichoke dip, both were delicious. I had the Chardonnay and the Merlot, both on happy hour. Jose was friendly and helpful. I love the vibe here. Trendy upscale spot in downtown Phoenix. I've been here a few times and it's always been pretty good. The hot honey pepperoni pizza and martinis are what I hear most people talking about for Hanny's and both are great choices here. This last time I went with a simple sandwich and side salad. I got the garden sandwich and got the house market salad on the side instead of fries. I thought both were really light, fresh and delicious. I like the unique sidewinder fries that they have, which are like a cross between thick chips and fries, but was happy I went with the market salad this time. read more

My girlfriends and I headed to Hanny's for dinner after seeing The Nutcracker at Symphony Hall. It's only about two blocks away, which makes it such a convenient post-show spot. We've eaten here after The Nutcracker before, a few years back, and it was fun to be back again. One thing we always love is their stylish Christmas tree, it's different every year. Hanny's is a very quirky place, which is part of the charm and fun. When our girls were younger, they thought the creepy dolls downstairs were terrifying. Now that they're older and know the history of the building as an old department store, they find them more funny than scary. We started with the sidewinder fries, which came with two dipping sauces. Everyone devoured them, they were a hit. My friends and I ordered espresso martinis, which were very frothy and good. We ordered the roasted beet salad, and it was excellent. I especially loved the pistachios and Gorgonzola cheese. For mains everyone ordered and shared the hot honey bacon grilled cheese, and the hot honey pepperoni pizza. We also ordered the white bean veggie pizza, which was delicious. For dessert, the girls enjoyed the key lime tart while the moms sipped champagne. Of course, we had to check out the kaleidoscope ceiling in the old elevator shaft and the eclectic upstairs bathrooms--both are always part of the Hanny's experience. We had a great time, and I'm sure this will continue to be our tradition. I fully expect we'll be back again next December after the show. read more

Since we went on a Friday night, it was crowded, so I may have to go another day when it is not a lot of people. Hanny's! This has been on my list of places to try since it opened, and we finally got a rare late-night date that gave Hubster and I the chance. It's in an old department store, with hefty columns holding tall ceilings, and filled with dim lighting, plush booths, wood tables and a large bar. It felt sort of grey-scale, romantic and vintage to me. I'd already eaten beforehand, so my Hubster ordered a burger while I just stole his fries and tried a couple cocktails. I didn't care for the Sweater Weather Chai Martini - it somehow had a cherry taste that really just isn't for me, but I loved the Pumpkin Spice martini with its mild but festive seasonal flavors. We spent some time exploring the building, which makes it feel like more of an experience. The basement is creepy and would probably be great for a private party, while the empty elevator shaft and second floor are fun, with lots of photo ops! read more

Hanny's is one of the places we enjoy having drinks at in downtown Phoenix. We haven't had a ton of their food items but enjoy their pizzas. For this specific visit we had a few drinks and a charcuterie board. I had the Bees Knees mezcal cocktail and it was excellent. I also had the old fashioned and it was just okay. My wife had the St. Germaine and really likes this drink. We just wanted a simple bite so ordered the charcuterie board, overall was a good board with a variety of items. We were able to sit at the bar and were lucky to have Jocelyn as our bartender. She was very nice, helpful and very attentive. Hanny's will continue to be a must stop location for us when in Phoenix. read more

Hanny's is one of my absolute FAVORITES in Downtown Phoenix, I'm genuinely obsessed. The building's history alone is ... an old department store turned into a bar and restaurant?? The vibe is so cool, a little weird in the best way possible, and unlike anything else in the city. Every time I walk in, I feel like I'm stepping into this hidden time capsule with a twist. Their espresso martinis are top tier, hence the multiple different occasions here with multiple photos of them . The staff is always kind, the service is consistent, and the food never misses. Truly some of the most delicious dishes downtown. Whether it's a date night, a night out with friends, or a late-night vibe run, Hanny's is always a solid choice. If you haven't been... go. Gave the whole spot an underground museum feel without trying too hard. Definitely not your average lounge. Service across the board was on point. Everyone we talked to was cool and on top of it. Dined 10.27.24: It's been a while since I was here and happy to see the vibes are still the same! Came in late Sun night after a concert at Footprint Center just a short walk from the venue. Was quickly sat at the bar and ordered the Pepperoni & Sausage pizza and the Huckleberry Lemonade cocktail (one of my faves). Pizza was delicious and the Bartender was friendly and attentive. If you're looking for a grown and sexy vibe with good food and great drinks and little bit of mystery this is your place. They dont take reservations but this place is huge so don't worry. I just missed happy hr but I did order a sidecar. I wanted to try their pomegranate Jules but they were out. For food I started off with a shrimp and chicken Caesar salad. I've had this salad many times but this dressing and chicken just delicious. It surprised me it was an elevated salad. Very fresh and something about the dressing makes you keep going back for another bite. For my main course I had the airline chicken. It's a beautifully cooked roasted chicken with heirloom carrots over potatoes covered with a creamy white wine mushroom sauce. It was so light and feeling and the sauce is rich and velvety. It was so good I can't believe it was healthy. My only regret is I didn't have leftovers for the next day. My waiter Jorgi was so sweet and attentive. He just has a presence about him. I came here after a baseball game, I honestly didn't know what to expect here but I did feel kinda underdressed with a baseball jersey and shorts on. It seems like a good spot to have a date at. The music was low enough to hear but also be able to hear the people you're talking to. I ordered the spicy pepper and sausage pizza. I really should've looked up what giadinera relish is because I did not like that topping on it. Besides that, it was just an average pizza, nothing special. I did try some of my friends orders, the fries are delicious, the tiramisu was great. I'm not sure what to make of Hanny's. I went for a nice way to punctuate my day, and ordered a mint julep, Moscow mule, and the bruschetta. The server prefaced that the bruschetta is mainly olives, which I thought would be no issue as I was expecting some sort of tapenade, but it was more of a rough dice with a seasoning I wasn't a huge fan of. As far as drinks are concerned, the mint julep could've done with some more muddling. And the Moscow mule would really benefit from a strain or changing their recipe to English cucumbers, unless the big seeds floating around is intentional. I would love to give it another go the next time I'm in the area. Based on my perception from the outside, I was ready for an upscale cocktail lounge with good music and drinks. For the price point and the delivery I just wasn't super thrilled. read more

Everything we order were from the happy hour special except for our pizza which was $19 and other items range from 6 to 7 dollars and up. My friend told me the history of this place which used to be a store many years ago now its a restaurant w/ unique bathrooms in the upper level and have a creepy with dolls. I was there for the Entomological Society of America annual meeting and this was last night we had dinner. Zero regrets. The butter cake was also am explosion of flavor in your mouth. Next time I'm ordering two. As a Dark Souls fan, I appreciated the peculiar statues for their decor. The Bad: it's a bit dark, but waa-waaa to me. It sets the mood. I love coming to Hannys, but I had a little trip to Dubai, and when I came back, I was on a big mocktail kick, so I wanted to review Hanny's. It's always so weird that places charge you the same for a mocktail vs. a cocktail when I remove the alcohol. Hannys is my soulmate. My mocktail was like 7 bucks, not 14 like most places, and it was scrumptious! Their hot honey pizza, you can't beat it; it's a classic staple here. We stopped in at Hanny's prior to a concert at the Footprint Center. It is close by and easy to find street parking nearby. We had a party of 7 and were pleasantly surprised we found seating right away as the place was crowded for a Monday night. I loved the vibe of the restaurant. The lighting, music, noise level was just right. People were actually dressed up which I loved. We ordered the sidewinders with sauce to start which is basically Parmesan fries but they are amazing. My husband and I ordered dirty martinis which were ice cold and delicious. Our friends ordered Negronis which they said were very good. Others ordered wine. Prices were on par. For food we ordered the carne and the spicy pizzas. Although they had a decent flavor, I would say pizza is not their strong point and I would call them more of a flat bread. The crust was not crispy, it fell kind of flat in all of our opinions. Another person ordered the chicken club which they said was fine. Our waitress was nice and attentive. I liked Hanny's and I would definitely stop in again for cocktails and appetizers if in the area. read more

The best place to go here, is during the weekday when there isn't a huge crowd as there usually is. (I've been told) I met up with my Yelp besties in which, was one of our best places chosen to meet up at thus far. The parking was irritating but it's in downtown so there's no surprise there! If you're lucky, you will get a slot spot parking, in the front of the establishment as I did. The waitress and staff were all really nice and catering. The food was great! I had the Hanny's plate, Fries and a slice of the honey pizza. The fries were my absolute favorite and the hh portions are perfect! This is a place I'd go to, regardless of hh or not. It's worth it! The upstairs is a great place to have a bridal shower as there's, another bar along with nice seating overlooking the restaurant. I was shocked to hear that, this Hanny's location used to be a shopping center turned into a restaurant. Hench the, signs being still up. Nice!!! The bathroom area was neat because of the lighting and the doors, appearing to be speak easy doors. I'm not a fan of the bathrooms, because although small, you gotta touch everything...sink handles and door... ugh! I used toilet tissue to open the door and to touch the sink to wash my hands. Yes, I'm a bit of a germaphobe. Side eye if you're not! ‍ The place is perfect for gatherings as well as, date night! The ambiance is perfect! My only.... let's say, creeper moment was seeing the many dolls in the basement, behind a huge secured, locked gate. This was a total CSI SCENE I was so creeped out that, I refused to take photos because, I didn't want that bad juju in my phone. Lmao frfr I honestly would like to know the story behind these dolls and being in the basement all crowded around a table. Yikes! I need a CSI INVESTIGATION on this, ASAP! I've been here a few times but this was the first time I've tried their food. Was not too impressed. I got the chicken Milanese, it was bland. Not sure why it came with a side of butter to dip with. Didn't think it went well together. My friend got the bacon grilled cheese and wasn't impressed as well. His came with marinara, which was weird too lol.
