It's been a year since my last review, so I thought I would come here again with some coworkers and share the experience with you. If you are a hummus fan, their fried cauliflower hummus is as good as it gets. Two of my coworkers had the schnitzel and the portions were small. Their twist on the gravy includes capers, not mushrooms. I had their Hank's supreme pizza which was a special lunch offering. To be honest, apart from the red pepper spiciness, the pizza itself was really quite underwhelming and not something I would order again. It would've been nice if they had the option to build your own pizza. The service was on point and they do have some good craft beers served either in the 16 or 24 ounce size. Besides the pretty interior, the food was a 3/10. Steak frites for $24 had no flavor, no salt, and the chimichurri was all oil and roughly chopped herbs. Hank's patio is hard to beat! REally great spot for lunch and a good coffee hang with friends. I am obsessed with their plants and overall ambiance. Great food, friendly but sloooow service. We love Hank's! Their drive through with frozen drink options saved our sanity many times during Covid. We've continued to go now for years, their food is fantastic and their patio & indoor vibe alike are really nice. The service is always super friendly but idk why it is always SO SLOW. Almost every time we are sat, it takes several minutes for anyone to approach us, and drinks often take 15-20 mins to arrive, sometimes at almost the same time as the food. They are one of those places where the servers don't write orders down, which I kind of hate bc the orders are almost always a little off. I hate to be the person, 'when I was a server...' BUT when I was a server, at literally over a dozen places, we often had to greet the table within a minute and have drinks out no longer than 5 minutes from then. Some places thought it was fancier for servers not to write down orders, but personally I totally relied on writing them down to make sure I had all of the details right. I don't know if the management is understaffing, or if they just don't train the staff or have enough support or what... but we generally never go when we're in a hurry. I've been a semi-regular here since I live almost in walking distance (if not for the heat), and since it opened. Usually here for happy hour, and it's pleasantly chill most afternoons, gets trendy busy in the evening. Hanks food and customer service are uneven at best, more "ok" than good or great. Sometimes the staff is great, but often the greeter is friggin' rude as shit, as they were today (not uncommon, though wait staff is always friendly). For some reason the greeter has been instructed to sit single diners in the bar, which I do not like when the entire restaurant is empty and the ruse won't even start for another hour and a half. The food is not great. For example, I just ordered a hummus to nosh with veggies: what I got was an ok hummas crowed (pummeled) with very cheap (nasty tasting veggies, and the cukes and peppers they brought for dipping were no fresh and very soggy (see the picture; rather than throw out a bad cuke, they just carved out the rotten middle. , the most excellent thing about this restaurant is it's plan-filled and inviting interior. I was motived to write this review because of a new practice they have started. Despite having what I would think is a familiar face, I have noticed some turnover. And despite regular patronage despite the price and food, now they always insist seating me in the bar because I'm often solo. This rudeness reflects the New Aus-Angeles attitude (if you've been driving here for more than a decade, you certainly notice the neo-rudeness on the road), Hank's is probably more of an unwitting part of that attitude than it is a conscious decision, seems to me Hank wouldn't like this review. read more

I absolutely adore Hanks. It's quality food with a slightly upscale atmosphere and not an ounce of pretension. This spot is usually pretty busy. I've been on weekdays and weekends and have always had at least a 10 minute wait. So plan on that when you go. It's spacious and clean and the staff is always friendly if a little busy. They have a patio for outdoor seating if that's your thing. The interior is nice and it's not too loud to converse in. Every dish I've ordered has been great. I'm hoping to go again soon. It was 6 of us. My frustration is after sitting down and indulging in business talk, my pants kept getting stuck on sitting in the seat. They are wood so I kept checking to make sure I didn't rip my pants. I didn't wanna make a big deal about so as we were leaving I checked and there was a sticky stain right where I felt the issue in my chair. This is definitely going to be a new Monday tradition- every Monday is half priced burgers and lemme tell ya, this burger was stupid good. It came with sharp cheddar cheese, bibb lettuce, red onion, dijonaise, and a thicc patty all inside a sesame seed bun It also came with a side of french fries. They were salty, crisp, thin, and had parmesan on them. Sandro got the pesto chicken bowl and it was really really tasty. I only had one bite because he was in heaven eating that bowl so I didn't want to ask for more but I wish I did because it was THAT good. (and pretty healthy!) Another thing to mention is that happy hour is from 3-6:30 EVERYDAY so of course I was gonna take advantage of that too. I got the spicy margarita and it was quite tasty. It was small but strong. I should know: my husband is a keto guy, and while I'm not vegan, I am the girl showing up in gym clothes with food allergies...so... We were here at 2:30pm on Valentine's Day. Don't worry, our wedding anniversary is Feb 13th, and we were still riding the romantic high. I don't know if I would have chosen this place just by looking at it from the outside, but you know what they say about books and their covers. It was fairly quiet at that time. We got a cheese board, the pesto rice bowl (me) and a bacon cheeseburger with sweet potato fries. I will say the cheeseboard wasn't exactly as advertised (here on Yelp), but it was fine. I wish they had at least two hard cheese options because bleu cheese is a controversial choice, and at least one person (me) isn't a fan of Brie. But I otherwise enjoyed it, and the honey! It even made the bleu cheese taste better. But can we talk about the pesto bowl?! Voodoo magic! What goodness! Who thinks to put pesto on brown rice? Not me. But now I will! We celebrated my birthday with bunch at Hanks. Pretty cool spot in my old neighborhood. I opted fit the goat cheese salad with an herb vinaigrette dressing. Absolutely delicious. Then time for cake! What happened to Hank's? It used to feel so fresh when it opened seven years ago, but our recent visit was disappointing. The interior looks worn--walls marked up, bathrooms seemingly untouched since day one. When I went to the ladies' room, the vent above the toilet was covered in a thick layer of dust--utterly gross. Service was slow and inattentive; we had to flag down our server just to order, and we barely saw him after that. The food was just okay--the whipped feta was bland, the salads forgettable, and while the chicken sandwich was decent, it wasn't anything special. Drinks were hit or miss: beer was fine, but the selection was limited, and the frosé was so bad we sent it back. To top it off, our table was in direct sunlight, and the sagging shade offered no relief. It was meant to be a birthday dinner, but it fell flat. Please bring some love and attention back to this place--it deserves it. read more

I'm not sure why Hanks gets so much hate on Yelp. A lot of the negative reviews have commented on the employees being rude, but I actually found everyone super friendly and attentive! We went there for dinner on a Friday. They seemed busy, but we were seated right away and the waiter brought us waters almost immediately. Some lady also passed out while we were there and the employees were there to help her within seconds (she ended up regaining consciousness and paramedics got there soon after). Things I liked about Hanks: Their cocktails are amazing. They have a good happy hour and great selection. Their parmesan fries are delish. Things that were just ok: the wait time to get food was a little long. Food was fine, but nothing out of this world. Reviewing the café side, the tables are covered in dirty dishes, the water pitcher has been dry the entire time I've been here for a late lunch, and the bathrooms are filthy with, it looks like, literal shit on the wall. The café barista/cashier looks bored out of her mind with nothing to do; yet, there's dirty dishes and no water (multiple employees have walked back and forth in front of the dirty tables). Hank's could be good if it was well managed, but it simply isn't a clean or well-run place. Bring some competition to this corner of Windsor Park please! read more

It's a popular aesthetic brunch place with nice servers. The menu has a variety of options and it's pleasant to have a nice brunch there. However the food is on the blander side, as each of my friends had to add more seasoning. The eggs benedict cooked fine, but lacked richness. Fortunately, as usual, you can't go wrong with potatoes and ketchup. Someone got the crispy rice bowl and couldn't even finish it, since her bowl was mainly arugula. Fried chicken was super salty, feta cheese in Veggie burger tasted funky, like inedible funky, and it was room temperature, and the paddy itself doesn't have any flavor and it's made of brown rice I think, so with the bun, it's all carbs. the only good things were fries and sourdough toast. I have come here a ton of times it's one of my favorite breakfast places in Austin. The eggs Benedict is amazing and the potatoes that come with them are to die for , ask about their bakery pastries if you get there early enough they are always amazing. Unfortunately their service was not it today. Our waiter was incredibly nice but we were seated by one of the large curtains outside and for whatever reason it kept hitting me in the back of the head. I kindly asked one of the people that worked there to help tie it down or something to assist with this problem. This horrible man proceeded to tell me how it wasn't possible for the curtain to be even hitting me in the head. They did nothing about it and as it continued to hit me in the head the man came back and told me how it was actually impossible for it to be hitting me in the head . Finally I asked our waiter to help because he could see it in that moment hitting me over and over again. Our waiter was very helpful and nice and I'm grateful for him. The man that tried to mansplain how something wasn't possible was incredibly rude and really ruined my experience. In what world is it okay to treat a regular customer like that or any customer at all. Who would make that up? Then he had the audacity to come out of the restaurant and glare at me once I moved tables. The establishment reallly needs to do something about this man's attitude it's not acceptable. read more

We ordered the Brussels sprouts as an app and they had too much balsamic on them. They definitely needed a touch of sweetness. My boyfriend ordered a fish dish. He said it was very bland.
