The dipping sauces for each respective order paired nicely with the food. On another visit, I thoroughly enjoyed the soondaeguk and left feeling happily stuffed. Dookbaeki might just be my default local spot for soups. With a large seating space, we were seated immediately (came just after 8 on a Thursday evening with a party of 6) though they can get busy! I went for the sogogi dolsot bibimbap. It was served quickly and came with a large variety of banchan. I loved the bottle of spicy red sauce and probably added way too much, but it was so tasty. The rice crisped up on the dolsot at the bottom and provided a nice texture. The kimchi banchan was delicious so was the fish cake banchan. I recently saw a few foodies post about this spot so I assume they're going to get pretty busy soon. I will try and get a group of friends next time so we can try more things. I was craving this soup and glad I tried it here because it hit the spot! Tasted delicious, didn't have to wait for a table, and it was reasonably priced then. Came back here last night for dinner with my family and was finally able to try the bbq items. It was a hit! We ordered 2 of the combo A which was the perfect servings for 2 adults and 3 (very hungry!) teenaged boys. Not only did it come with 3 meat types (thinly sliced pork belly, marinated beef Bulgogi, and one other thinly sliced beef), it also came with soup, banchan, and a big bowl of Bibimbap. We also ordered their seafood pancake which was perfectly crispy and not too thin or thick. The actual bbq grill itself was the best one I've seen at a Korean restaurant because it was non-stick, temperature controlled really well, and it didn't leave us smelling like the food after dining. The ventilation must've been good here as it wasn't super smoky at all. The best dish was definitely the bean paste soup! We all loved it and had never tried it before, so next time we have Korean, it will be a staple in our order! It wasn't too busy last night so we were seated right away. Staff were friendly and while they were short-staffed, they were quick enough to get what we requested and ordered in a timely manner.

We went on a Wednesday and it was all you can eat pork belly and marinated pork, with a soup and unlimited kimchi pancake and sides all for $30. The servers were extremely attentive in asking about refills, whether that's the rice, meats or even side dishes. A great bang for your buck for all you can eat these days. We heard the staff speaking to many customers in Korean so it must be Koreans approved. Need to come back on a Tuesday to try their beef all you can eat!

You have to order from 1, 2 and 3 to complete the set. They tell you the base cost in 1 and you can pick sides to add to the pan for free or for cost in step 2, 3. Except.. step 3 only has items priced at $5. I asked if I can just omit it and they said no, it is mandatory to pick one. Why don't they just add $5 to the base cost and then make step 3 free. Adding a price make it seems like I can choose to add it or not. So now the budaejjigae is $41 instead of $36 with sides I didn't really need. Quite pricey for a very simple ingredient dish. Soup base was very flavorful but not a lot of ingredients was in it for that price point. One thing I didn't like was the buying of positive reviews. They offer you free soda/pop for positive reviews only. Parking is limited but we did find a spot on a weekend lunch.

Not only does the family-owned place clean every piece of meat super well so that their intestines avoid tasting gamey, but the side dishes are also really delicious. Unfortunately most Korean restaurants in Vancouver do not have purple rice. -Cold Noodle (14.99$, but they have a lunch special where, for 16.99$, you get two potato pancakes): At first I was hesitant to order this because I love buckwheat (dark gray/purplish colour) cold noodles, and these weren't those, but am so happy we did. I love the texture. The flavour of the broth was also excellent. My only qualm was the "cucumber garnishes" that, in my opinion, were actually too-sweet pickles. Other than that, highly recommend. Potato pancakes were also very yummy. They served complimentary barley tea, and had yummy banchans (kimchi radish, fish cake, and soy sauce pickled onions). Plenty of seafood (mainly octopus) but still good. Fried chicken- crispy and good flavour. Interesting that they sprinkled seeds and cranberries on top. The portion was massive. Bossam- meat was tender and they provided more lettuce when we asked. Beef bone broth with noodles- plenty of beef. The bone broth was tasty and nourishing.
