I came here for the fist time a few weeks back for my yearly eye exam. When Thing One and I came in, we were gretted promptly by the front desk. Thing One and I both had the same technician and Physician. The Physician thoroughly went over our eye history and addressed any concerns we've had with our eyes in the past. Once our exams were complete, we headed to the reception area/ eyeglass area to select new specs. Fast forward two weeks, glasses are in. This is my first pair of progressives (the bifocals without the lines) so I was anxious to get them. I tried on the new glasses at the location and practiced reading paperwork and then looking away at objects in the distance. Initially, it felt as if I had stumbled in from a bar late night when trying to focus. However, these glasses (much like myself) will be a work in progress. However, Thing One was pleased with the quality and fit of his new specs. While this is NOT the most cost efficient provider I've been to ($600 spent after insurance for two pairs of glasses...yes....I know I have Gucci frames...that's not the point), the service and caliber of products are superior. read more

I cannot rave enough about how friendly and caring the staff and physicians are. I had been meaning to schedule regular eye exams for our whole family, when one of my children got a significant corneal abrasion. They followed his care and healing, in addition to our regular eye exams. They worked with our insurance and their special offers, to get us the best deal on three of our family members needing corrective lenses, too. I know Dr Hamilton moved out of the WB area. Many people in the area loved him (including one of my friends) and his office. In fact there is a thread in one of the neighborhood groups raving about him and dreading his move to his new location. The only reason I'm came here was because my insurance at the time didn't cover my longtime doctor. I didn't click with him or the staff like I did with my longtime doctor. Will you? Maybe. Probably. My insurance changed and I was able to go back to my longtime Eyecare location. It just wasn't a good fit for me. read more

I was a 5 year patient, My entire family were patients and I was very happy with the service they provided. Due to the COVID-19 crisis, I requested the prescriptions for my wife and myself to order new glasses online. We're both high risk and my wife recently had open heart surgery. Only to find out, the written prescriptions we received were incomplete, after calling them to request the missing information. They said it was a free service and they will not provide it, really? I paid my co-pay as well as spent a pretty penny on glasses every single year, and yet they will not provide me with missing information to order a prescription somewhere else. I pleaded and they were RUDE and inconsiderate of our health risks, they wouldn't provide me with the information or means to obtain it (the office manager insisted we needed to have an appointment). I offered to call the Lab, call whomever, my plead went on deaf ears. Very rude and fishy, I was never notified and or told the Eye exam to fit the glasses was free and I would never have access to the information.... Caveat Emptor, "buyer beware" of the unethical business practices at Wells Branch Vision Center, they lost 4 customers. read more

My husband and I have gone here a couple of times for glasses and contacts and I would say have spent a fair amount of money even with insurance and have really not had any problems, until today. I realized after reviewing my prescription that my PD measurement was not on the print out, so I called to see if I could get it done when I picked up my contacts. The lady that answered the phone politely told me that I could get it done quickly and free when I came in to get the contacts. I walk in and let the lady at the front desk know that I was there for my contacts and to get a PD measurement. She very smugly told me that I could get my contacts, but I would have to pay $42 to get a PD measurement. I looked at her confused and let her know I had called ahead of time and spoke with someone that told me otherwise. She again, with an attitude stated she remembered speaking with me on the phone and it was never brought up. I informed her that I called back and spoke with someone else who again told me otherwise. I also stated that I felt she should honor what the other receptionist had told me on the phone, considering I called ahead of time just to make sure. She started getting more rude by the moment while stating over and over again that I would have to pay and that I basically could not get the measurement done without paying. Seeing that I was getting nowhere, I called a place down the road who stated they would do the measurement for free, and after going thought that $42 was absolutely ridiculous for a PD measurement (Literally takes 2 minutes, and I didn't even have an appt. with them!). I feel the exact same way and didn't mind telling the very rude receptionist that myself or my husband would not be back because of this unnecessary fiasco. Just ridiculous! Dr.'s were nice, NOT worth going and having to deal with the front office!!!! read more

First, I'm not one to leave reviews, good or bad, but thought this place deserved a great review. I've been to several optometrists in the past who would try to tell you you need all this extra stuff without explaining why. The staff at this location was very knowledgeable, friendly, and explained everything every step of the way. Dr. Shah took the time to sit down with me and go over all photos, explain what we were looking at and what it meant. She also showed me the difference between my old prescription and my new one so I could actually see how much better my new one was for me. There was even a new contact lens from the company I've always used, and Dr Shah explained what the improvements were, to make sure it would be something that would work out for me before I decided to go with them. I know that financially it's based on your insurance, but I've never paid less than $100 for both the exam and a years supply of contacts. Here I paid $40 for a contact lens exam, glasses exam, and a years supply of contacts! Great job Wells Branch Vision Care! I'm never going to another optometrist again! read more

I was super impressed with this office. Dr Hamilton knows what he's doing, and is very thorough in explaining everything and answering any questions I had, especially regarding the PRK eye surgery I got in a different state a few years ago. I never felt rushed, or pressured to buy anything like glasses or lenses or whatever. The staff is also super friendly and efficient. One thing to note is that the optomap was optional last time I went in late 2019, but I believe it's now mandatory (could be a covid thing, as it's less contact with a human?). This costs $35 out of pocket and is not covered by insurance. I personally think it's worth it because I hate eye dilation and it takes me 5 hours to be able to return back to normal. Also in October 2020, they will be rebranding as Hamilton Eye Associates and moving 4 minutes north to a brand new office on 15550 Ranch Road. They gave me a pamphlet to notify me of the change and this is also reflected on their website. COVID procedures: - "Mask required" sign on the door. All staff are wearing masks properly. - Hand sanitizer is everywhere and readily accessible. - You enter and there's a sign to wait just at the entrance (no wait though). A staff member comes and uses an infrared thermometer to take your temperature and asks your name. - You're seated in the waiting area 10+ feet from other staff in the front office area, so you are socially distanced. I had maybe a 15 second wait. - Patient rooms are sprayed down and sanitized between each patient - The desks at the front for glasses/lenses appointments and such have temporary plexiglass installed. Not super airtight but it's better than nothing. (Again, everyone's wearing a mask properly.) - When you're done with your appointment, one of the staff will grab a card reader, and you insert your card yourself. You don't have to touch anything as they'll do the card reader prompts for you. - The door is push to exit, so pretty contactless there as well. Overall I felt they did everything they could to mitigate risk of exposure to coronavirus and I felt pretty safe. If you're looking for an eye doctor in Austin or surrounding areas, I highly recommend this place and Dr Hamilton. read more

This was my first visit and I'm not sure if I will return. I wasn't pleased with the customer service from the staff or the eye doctor. I was greeted only after I walked up to the front counter. I filled out my new patient paperwork online. However, without checking the system first or asking if I completed the paperwork, the front desk associate advised me to fill out paperwork. I advised her I completed them online. My last eye doctor was in Dallas and he performed all the test on me and explained each test to me. On the contrary, Dr. Hamilton staff completed the first part of my exam and he completed the last two exams. I prefer the doctor to perform all the test and explain each one as if i never had an eye exam. The lady that performed my exams was not friendly and seemed tired. Dr. Hamilton is very sarcastic and had an attitude when I asked him questions. read more

I have only wonderful things to say about Dr. Hamilton and his staff. Although I'm a doctor I was very anxious about having cataract surgery. I interviewed three surgeons and felt very comfortable with Dr. Hamiliton. A retired Ophthalmologist had given me his name and said that's the only surgeon I would use for my cataract surgery. When I met Dr. Hamilton I found him patient, knowledgeable and very genuine. He explained my procedure in great detail and decreased my anxieties. He has a wonderful bedside manner and makes patients feel very much at ease. After my surgery I had some questions and he returned my call immediately. He's just great. His staff is also well trained and very accommodating to meet any patients needs. I've sent Dr. Hamilton numerous patients, and each have raved about him. If you want a very well trained Ophthalmologist with excellent bedside manner ..than Dr. Hamilton is your doctor. read more

My eye doctor and the assistant who performed the check up were very nice and thorough. I have no complaints about them. the frame selection gives plenty of options for style and I found a pair that I really liked. So my insurance covered most of it, only paid about $40 out of pocket, and was told my glasses should be ready in a week or a week and a half. A week later, no call so I called them and asked for an update, the girl that answered seemed rude and said their deliveries haven't been received yet but I shouldn't call them because they'll call me when They're ready. So I wait a few more days, no call, so I call back in the afternoon which is when I was told they receive deliveries. I got the same girl, and she gave me the same exact answer I got the last time I called. It's now been almost 2 weeks, today is a Saturday and the office is closed so I guess I'll have to try my luck on Monday. Next time I need a check up I will come here because I enjoyed my doctor, but for frames I will be taking my business somewhere that will be faster and have better customer service. UPDATE: It is Monday and my glasses still aren't ready. I called and was told that my glasses probably wont be ready till Wednesday because they haven't received them yet and they close at 12 today and they're closed for new years. Never buying glasses from here again. 2 and a half weeks for glasses, quite possibly 3. UPDATE: Finally received my glasses about 2 days after New Years, the girl that brought them out to me was very friendly and asked if they needed adjustment before I left. The frames and lenses came out perfectly and I really like them. I will consider coming back in the future for a pair of prescription sunglasses, I just hope it doesn't take almost a month for me to receive them like it did with these glasses. read more

Nice little shop in a good area. Easy parking. I booked an appt to come just to check my eyes, the first appt in over a decade. I was comfortable the entire time only until I saw the doctor. Don't get me wrong though. Dr. Smith looked hot and my first thought was ".. just like a scene out of my fantasy when I was a teenager." To complement her visual extraordinaire Dr. Smith was friendly and helpful. I left not buying an glasses since I didn't like the frame but I'm happy that my eyesight is still relatively good. The exam was only $10 after my co-pay. This place is only 2 miles away so I'll continue to visit yearly if need be. Highly recommended especially if you wanna challenge your perception of how doctors look. Update - I decided to buy my glasses on warbyparker.com. It's an up-and-coming online shop and I would highly recommend anyone looking for glasses to head there first. The prices are much, much cheaper. I'm going to pay only $100 (frame and prescription lens) vs. the $200+ in shop AFTER my insurance. Yikes. read more

I really like this place! Today I went back for my 2nd annual eye exam. I have seen a different optometrist (Dr. Smith and Dr. Hamilton) each time but each one has been very nice! The receptionist lady is very nice and welcoming and keeps the waiting area clean. I am always able to get and get out in a timely fashion. I was even able to walk in one day and quickly pick out prescription sunglasses. The other things I love is that this office is literally a 3 minute drive from my apartment. I love it. The office is very into technology and this is evident throughout. I receive text alerts and reminders for my appointments and glasses/contacts are ready to be picked up, they have a new machine that replaces the old school pupil dilation method but with the same results. I will recommend this office to everyone. They are wonderful and professional. read more

Since I have entered my early 30's, I decided it was probably time to have my eyes checked - my first eye appointment. I hadn't had my vision checked since..well probably getting my driver's license...or maybe those infrequent elementary school eye exams. I was kind of nervous because I had never done it before, and I'm pretty squeamish about things going near or in my eye, but the staff of WBVC were very nice and the doctor was great. They did a scan of my eye instead of dilating my pupils which was a really nice option. I found out that my vision is still really great - which is nice to know. I'm seeing some slight halos at night so I went ahead and got some night time driving glasses just to reduce any strain on my eyes that might be occurring. They had quite a few frames to choose from, and the lady was very patient while I tried on many different styles since I have never had glasses before. Due to the holidays, it has taken a bit longer than they expected to get my glasses in - but considering it wasn't detrimental I didn't mind. Anyways..four stars...this is a really nice office, great location just off of I-35. read more

I normally go to doctor's offices by recommendation of friends, but I was really in need of a new prescription and wanted something close by. I found this office on Yelp after a friend had said they had passed by. Normally I am skeptical of a place that has "Dentist" or "Optometrist" in lieu of a name/logo on their storefront so I was a little scared when I walked up for my appointment. It was actually pretty great! The service was great, I got everything I needed and went on my way. I did have to wait a bit after my appointment time, but the exam went pretty quickly so the entire visit was within a pretty reasonable time frame. Dr. Smith was great! I *apparently* am super particular about my contacts (I didn't realize it at the time that I'm super special and require a certain type of daily lens), and Dr. Hamilton was very patient and thorough in letting me try out a number of different lenses before I finally found the ones that didn't cause my vision to blur. To top it all off, the front office staff found a great mail in rebate on the lenses I bought that saved me about $150!! I've now been a customer of his for two years and make the 30 min drive to his office whenever I need anything. He's that good, and I trust him that much. I am pretty disappointed, this was the first and last time I went to a different eye doctor other than Walmart. The problem I have with this office is that even after 2 corrections from my new pair, my glasses still were not right so I never even worn them. I moved out of Austin. I had an appointment at a different Walmart eye center again this check-up, and they got it right the first time again! I don't understand what all of those tests did for my glasses? read more

Love this office! The staff is so sweet, and funny. They make you feel like you're just hanging out while you're waiting. I've seen Dr. Hamilton and Dr. Smith, both who I liked a lot, but I loooooove Dr. Hamilton. I'm diabetic, and he really made me feel like I was doing all the right things.
