I recently returned to Cedar Park Eye Care due to some customer service issues with another eye Doc in the area. Cutting to the chase a solid 4-star experience at CP Eye Care. My appointment was at 3PM and after filling out my paperwork I was quickly greeted and taken to the initial exam room. Being seen on time is a big Nit with me. My time is as valuable as the Doc and staff so I have a short fuse when I have to wait longer than 10 minutes past my Appt time. My exam was easy peasy and Dr McCarty spent additional time discussing eyecare options for 2024. My prescription has not changed so no new glasses are needed. I also appreciated the no hard upsell that I have experienced elsewhere. Professional service from the front desk to the technician, and last but not least Dr McCarty! read more

This office uses a Gmail account for personal information, mixed up our account logins and gave me a frame that was manufactured askew. Staff were polite at point of sale but Tommy was not polite when I dropped in to have them fixed. He was unable to fix the frame after 5 tries. We then tried to change the frame but they wanted to apply a 50% restocking fee for a frame with a manufacturing defect. None of my glasses fit this way yet he tried to say it wasn't. When my husband contested the fee and said the frame is junk Tommy became even more rude pointing fingers and raising his voice. Seems these people are only nice when they are not challenged on their poor service and severe lack of professionalism. read more

The gentleman working in the section selling glasses was nice, the so called "doctor" is an arrogant moron. Worst experience ever, I spent over a thousand dollars on useless glasses and they only refunded half. What a horrific waste of time and money whe you can get the same thing online for 50 dollars. She thinks she knows more about what you see and need than you do. They should hire a monkey do do her job, as the equipment does all the work, and she is incapable of correcting what the equipment calculates read more

Visiting town for a few days, went here to browse some Randolph sunglasses because they are listed as a distributor on Randolph website. Wayne asked for my prescription, which I had as a pdf on my phone, he asked if I could print it for him... clearly I don't have access to a printer when I'm at their store, I then emailed it to him (before he even asked why I was at the store). I then said that I wanted to browse Randolph Aviators, for which he dismissively said they don't carry Randolph, when I replied with oh I saw you were a distributor he rudely shrug his shoulders and snarkily said "we haven't carried them in years. So much for that (meaning me sending him the prescription)" and didn't even try to see if I'd like to see anything else. And basically dismissed me from the store. Terrible manners, terrible service. This place was recommended to me by my boyfriend, and it did not disappoint! The whole place was beautiful with such a cute fountain, complimentary snacks, and amazing staff! Rosalind was so fun to talk with and I loved how easy it was to laugh with her :) Dr. McCarty was so professional and knew his stuff, definitely would be someone I'd trust with my eyes! Drove in from out of town, took down all my info, sent them prescription email, then was told to leave around 12:20 for a 3 hour lunch and to come back later? I think we had about 10 min left in the appointment- all I needed was a price and we could have taken it from there. Safe to say we didn't come back, and won't be. Made an appointment here two weeks ago for my son at 915 today. My husband shows up with son and the front desk tells him he is not on the books. The office cancelled the appointment because insurance was not going to cover appointment , apparently, he's not eligible for an exam until feb 1st. My eyes have been bothering me all school year, and I had NEVER had an eye exam. That being said, I was kind of nervous. The place has TONS of parking, the entry way is beautiful, and the staff is super friendly. As for my exam, they walked me through everything they were doing and answered all of my questions. Dr. McCarty graduated from some small schools here in Texas so he's super humble and really easy to work with. He puts the CARE back in healthcare. When it was time to pick out my glasses, they had super knowledgeable staff that helped me narrow down my tastes and customize my look. I found my perfect glasses within 10 minutes, and never felt afraid of my coverage. If your insurance doesn't cover glasses, they have many different payment options available. All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and will be returning for any eye problems I may have in the future. read more

I have mixed feelings on how to rate this place, because again, Dr. McCarty is great. He called after my previous review and offered to have new lenses made that he thought might work better for me transitioning from single vision lenses. He really listened to my concerns, and seemed to agree that adjusting the distance vision a little lower might help. By the end of our conversation, it sounded like the worst case scenario was that I would be out the 25% restocking fee if I didn't like the new style of lens. I went in today to pick up the frames with the new lenses. A nice young man went in the back to get them. I could hear Wayne, the frames manager, who had been the one to previously tell me I just wasn't trying hard enough to find the right focal points, tell the guy that I had only 10-15 minutes to figure out if I liked them, and that if I took them home I couldn't return them at all. His tone of voice was oozing attitude, as were all of my following direct interactions with him this morning. I wore the new glasses around the office for a few minutes, and they definitely seemed better than the previous pair. I let Wayne know that I didn't realize that I'd have a mere 10-15 minutes to make a $425 decision when I agreed to have them remade. While I'm pretty positive that these lenses would have worked fine for me, in the end that was a big gamble to take when I wasn't allowed to try them out at home. On top of that, we don't typically spend that kind of money with sales people who are so rude. Dr. McCarty did his best to make the situation right, and I believe he did in that I was able to see much better out of the new lenses. However, Wayne lost the sale on the frames and lenses, and I'm out some time and money. I will definitely return for eye exams, though. read more

I am a new patient of Dr. McCarty's, but I feel confident reviewing him, because I've already been to see him three times, thanks to an eye infection I had no idea I had, which he diagnosed on my first visit. Since then, we've cleared up the eyes and he's fitted me for new contacts. I've had astigmatism for a while, but past doctors have recommended just upping the prescription in one eye rather than doing the astigmatism lenses, which would require me to be careful about putting the right lens in the right eye... Dr. McCarty said I could continue to do this, but recommended the astigmatism lens and a different brand. He did a fitting, gave me a sample, and sure enough, my vision is much clearer with these new lenses, and the fit was perfect on the first try. The office has lots of state-of-the-art equipment, including iPads for you to play with while you wait (it has never been a long wait for me, though). They also offer coffee and refreshments, and have a seemingly wide selection of frames and contacts. The staff has always been super friendly, and my appointments have been quick and easy, largely thanks to all the great technology they have to assess your vision/eye health. read more

I have been Dr. McCarty patient for 2+ years and twice he got my prescription wrong. The first time (last year) I gave him the benefit of doubt and redid my prescription but it happened again (last month) having me to get a second opinion from another optometrist. I paid the both doctors for exams and eye scans. I asked the Dr. M office to return my charged fees and they declined. I would choose another optometrist as I had to pay both doctors and wait an agonizing 3 weeks for my glasses to be done (once it was done, it had to be resent and then back). read more

I had a 9:30 appointment and arrived at 9:20 in case there was paperwork. I wasn't taken back for the initial work-up until 9:40. I was then left in a room where I waited nearly 20 minutes for the optometrist. I finally asked the staff when he would be coming in. When he did come in he seemed annoyed that I had the audacity to value my time and completely rushed through everything and did not seem the least bit interested in anything I had to say. Since I had my eyes dilated about 6 months ago and my medical issues are well managed by my physician I refused dilation and the doctor talked at me (not with, at) for the rest of the visit and went though all the things he would NOTdo for me. I am not having any vision issues and was only in because I have a new vision benefit and wanted to take advantage of it to check my prescription and to get some new eyeglasses. Horrible. I hate to say this because I like to see the good in people but the office is shady. I was double billed during my first visit and they tried to hide that they did it when I noticed a discrepancy in the total. Then after having 6 months of contact they won't let me fill my RX again without coming in for another exam. Unfortunately greed seems to be the theme here and it makes me sad to see a business behave in this manner. Lastly along with the greed theme they tried to tell me that I could not get my contacts anywhere but there office (which are 3x the cost) if they tell you this check because both costco and target sell them! Dr. McCarty and his staff were accommodating and kind. Like, shockingly kind. This was an appointment I had been dreading, but I walked away feeling happy. I only make it into the optometrists once every four to five years, and I had been putting off my appointment for awhile even though I suspected I needed glasses (for night driving). I have worn reading glasses in the past, and had never been pleased with how they looked on me. In the past, I have always felt pressured to buy eyewear on the spot, and always walked away with something flashier than I would have preferred (due to small selections and a face that - I swear I'm not even being self-deprecating here-looks absolutely awful with glasses). This time I shopped around before making my appointment. I dragged my husband and two kids down to the Domain to check out Warby Parker and actually cried at how terrible I looked in the frames. We went to Target, a store I usually can't get out of for under a hundred dollars, and walked out with nothing. I finally found a pair of frames I didn't totally hate at Costco (bonus: they were affordable) and snapped a picture. I was fully surprised when I walked into Cedar Park Eye Care and saw they had a massive collection. Easily quadruple what was available to me at the last Optometrist I saw. The receptionist at Cedar Park Eye Care was so helpful in helping me select frames that were just my style, and very patient while I tried about every pair in the store. I found some cute (yet designer), simple frames that I actually really loved! And - after factoring in insurance - they were priced lower than the Costco pair! Dr. McCarty was extremely personable and kind. My husband and I don't always gravitate toward the same kinds of people, but we both really liked him. Oh, and they have a coffee machine in the office! That definitely scored some points with me. Five stars because I was really dreading this appointment, and I walked away a satisfied customer with glasses that I love. read more

Dr D. rocks. He keeps up with everything in his field and recently helped to steer me toward the right guy to do laser vision correction (Dr. Dell). Anytime I've ever had an off hours issue with my eyes, Dennis has gone out of his way to drop a solution by my house, etc. and come though. I can honestly say I haven't experienced service like that from many doctors,.. ever. no really, ever! Admittedly, his office is too far north for me so I switched a few years ago but if I lived in Cedar Park or close by I'd definitely go with Dr. McCarty. read more

Dennis R. McCarthy, OD, and his staff are the shizit. I came here with an eye emergency and he prescribed the cure. When I returned for him to check on it, he gave me a thorough annual eye exam and gave me a new prescription for contact lenses. Dr. McCarthy is a skilled professional who's a retired pharmacist. Now he's doing something he's really passionate about and it shows. His new patient exams are priced very reasonably and to fill the time gap for my new contacts to come in, Trina gave me a complimentary pair to tide me over with a set of solution and a case. If I've ever had to wait for my appointment, the few minutes that been well spent in his beautiful, tidy lobby watching Finding Nemo. Eye glasses line the walls reminding you that that option does exist. They also offer LASIK. Every time I come here, I'm treated with courtesy and greeted with a welcoming smile. read more

Went to see Dr. McCarty for my annual vision exam. He is the best! Staff is awesome, super friendly and attentive. I had made an appointment for 4:15, came in close to 3:50-3:55, and they got me in before my appointment time. I was actually leaving 5 minutes before my appointment was even supposed to start. The consultant that helped me pick out my glasses was fantastic! I had picked out 3 frames and he helped me narrow to the one that looked the best. He also helped me with my benefits and made sure that I didn't go over my spending limit. I highly recommend Dr. McCarty and crew to anyone needing vision exams. Cedar Park eye care has plenty of parking so that wont be an issue. The office is beautiful inside. Every time I have visited the office it always has several different items that you can snack on. It usually has apple juice (juice boxes for the kids), coffee, water and other juices. The office usually is always offering contact solution for free that is in the waiting room. The last time I visited they added about 5 new IPAD's for use while you wait for the doctor in the waiting room and also in the actual waiting room! Once your inside the doctors' office, it always has samples of vitamins and more contact solutions. Once the Dr. arrives you feel that your concerns for your eyesight are really an important matter, I have NEVER felt rushed and always feel that I am an important patient and not just a "number". The receptionists are also very friendly! Dr. McCarty also gives back to the community, we usually chat about local events that occur at the YMCA and he goes to the events to support them as well. Lasik scheduling bummer. If anyone here tells you there's a compromise for lasik prep consisting of one month with contacts out every night (not my norm) followed by two weeks of no contacts, this is apparently false. Total bummer. Especially frustrating if you only have a 1 month window each year when you could've just done whatever they asked and gotten it done. Communication is key, I get that. They dropped the ball on this one. I even called to confirm and then spent 3 hours driving there for checkups (I do like them, but live very far) and they basically said, "huh?" when I got there. Guess I'll see someone next year about it :( Word of advice to the next person: just prepare for a month of glasses. Whatever this "compromise" is, it's not going to mean less time in glasses even if that's what they tell you. read more
