I went yesterday as a new patient for a contact lens fitting. Easy front row parking! Easy check in/out experience! The nurse and doctor were thorough and professional, but still warm and willing to listen to any and all concerns. Walked out with a prescription for frames and contacts on a nice laminated piece of paper...first time receiving an eye prescription that nice. The office felt new and extremely clean! It's attached to a Pearle Vision if you're interested in frame shopping after, but there was no sales pitch to buy contacts or frames! I saw Dr. Birkmann, and I'd highly recommend the overall experience. It took about an hour to get in and out, which I didn't think was bad at all! read more

They have 4.9 ratings on google, while they have 3.9 rating here. I should have checked yelp before going there. Unsure how they got the 4.9 rating. They sent a text on Wednesday for a reminder of a $ 17.44 remaining payment that insurance did not cover. If you think you have till the week end to deal with it, then you are WRONG. Collection starts calling you on Friday adding a $50 fee making the total dues 4x the original amount. Other clinics would take few extra dollars from you beyond the deductible in case the insurance does not cover all the promised amount and then reimburse you the difference. read more

Dr. Birkmann is a wonderful optometrist, he is friendly, kind, and always cheery. I know I am in good hands because of his comprehensive and thorough eye care. He really takes the time to listen and answer any questions/concerns you may have. He comes from a family of optometrists so you know he is passionate for the field! The office is modern, clean, and bright and is good to note that the GVC is an independent eye care office than its next door neighbors, Pearl Vision who will serve as the optical for GVC. If you're looking for an optometrist that cares about his patients, goes out of his way to accommodate them, and is willing to spend the amount of time necessary to make sure you're taken care of before leaving the office, you have to go to Doctor Sturm at Georgetown Vision Center. I have been going to Doctor Sturm since he was a student, and have never been as pleased with an optometrist as I have been with him. Even though I live out in San Francisco now, I wait until I visit family in Austin to get my eyes checked and get fitted for contacts. The doctor seems great. I just can not believe how long we waited. and then there was someone after us and I know they waited forever too. Maybe they need to not schedule as many. He also seemed less then thrilled about doing a kids exam. Kids are not the best listeners and require more patience. I only wish my son could go to Avery Ranch Eye care like the rest of the family goes (he has tricare :( But I will take him back to TSO the next time. Smooth appointment from start to finish. I scheduled my appointment a day or two beforehand with no issues. The receptionist on the phone was very friendly and peppy. I filled out a new patient form online prior to my appointment, so I didn't have to fill out any paperwork on the day of my appointment. I showed up on time, was inprocessed, and seen promptly by a tech then Dr. Sturm. The suite is located adjacent to Pearle Vision, so it's a tad tricky to find the Vision Center if you're unfamiliar with the stores. Dr. Sturm was friendly, professional, and efficient. Overall, I was in and out fairly quickly with a prescription in hand. I'm very happy with the service. read more

I've seen several eye doctors in the central Texas area and have never been as impressed as I was with Dr. Sturm. He was extremely thorough and very friendly. I was fitted for contacts for the first time and he took the time to explain the process to me and made sure every question I had was answered. I didn't have to wait long for my appointment (even though I was early) and the waiting room was aesthetically pleasing. (With free coffee to boot!) Both Dr. Mark and the staff were very friendly and informative. I had switched to their office because of inadequite service from our previous eye care center in Cedar Park. I have taken all six of my family members to Dr. Mark now! Everyone of my kids and even my husband has responded that this office is so knowledgable and efficient. I came here initially because it's located in the shopping center I work in and thought it would be easy to step out from work to get an exam and pic up my contacts, ect. I had a full eye exam and was happy with my experience here from start to finish. The doc was nice and personable as well as the front desk person. Both doctors are great! The front desk staff is extremely helpful and friendly. I actually look forward to my annual visit.

My wife called in and made an appointment, as I haven't been in for an exam in 5 years. She told the receptionist that we had Guardian insurance, which they accept. Once I arrived early, I filled out my paperwork and gave them a copy of my card. There is apparently different types or carriers involved, as I was told that they do not accept Davis Vision which is part of Guardian. When I asked why they didn't ask or explain that on the phone, the young lady at the front desk told me that it's not their fault and we should have told them what insurance we had. I really wish that she would have just taken some sort of responsibility or at least offered some sort of discount on my exam. I likely would have paid for the exam as my time is worth more than anything to me due to a very busy schedule. Businesses, please get management involved if employees are upsetting clients. There is always an easier solution other than blaming the ex-client. read more

It's convenient to see him bc we make trips out to Austin, but I've never known another doctor to care as much for his patients as he does! The only thing good was the receptionist. First and last time there. First visit was so brief and very limited. Dr Mark Birkmann spent maybe 10-15 minutes with me. Paid my "contact fitting fee of $35" and told to come back to try new contacts, told only a 5 minute visit. I returned, escorted back to exam room, handed my new contacts, put them in and the wait began. After 50 minutes I left, spoke to the receptionist and she apologized stating he was running late with and out of town patient. Would have been nice if I was informed. I left with new contacts without advice on the contacts. So for the next 3 weeks tried 3 different Rx for contacts. FINALLY found ones that worked. YEA!! They were the most expensive contacts. AFTER insurance my cost was close to $200 AND another $35 contact fitting cost.(glasses and contacts come from Pearle Vision). Pearl Vision said new contacts here 7-10 and they would call when in, they didn't as they were so busy they forgot! So I wore my new contacts for the 30 days and then on May 3rd I put a new pair in, WRONG RX!!!. Went into Pearle Vision and she claimed Dr. Birkmann gave them the wrong rx. Pearle Vision stated they will discuss with Dr and get new contacts ordered, and gave me samples to wear, 1 was correct rx and 1 was not. She gave me 2 different rx for one eye that WAS NOT my rx and informed to try them out. So since 02/25/19 I still have no contacts!!! All I can say now is RUN!!! read more

Georgetown Vision Center is by far the best vision place I have been to. Dr. Starm was very helpful and got me the perfect prescription for my eyes. I found out I had a slight stigmatism that I was not aware of, that other Vision doctors failed to notice. He was very helpful and fitted me with the best contacts. I hated contacts before because they were uncomfortable but now I enjoy them thanks to Dr. Starm. Not sure how I should word this. I was patiently waiting in the lobby, and as these girls at the front desk were interacting, there came in a mother with 2 little boys. The boys were a little disruptive (they're young kids, no big deal) and the front desk people gave the mother the most awful look. And on top of that treated them with little respect as they were shown back. Then i saw the doctor walk up after the family was in the room, had a Pep talk that would've embarrassed the family as it was loud enough for the whole waiting area to hear, and then proceeded to do their eye exam. I just could not believe what I saw and heard. I lost so much respect for this place within an hour. So disappointed. read more

Didn't really care much for this experience. Front desk seemed unorganized, I waited for a good long while, and in the room I felt rushed with the Doctor. I've worn glasses for the past few years and I will admit they I need them and that they have helped me a lot, but that's not why I'm writing my first review ever. I'm writing it simply because the glasses I'm wearing now have a sharpness like never before. The reason is Dr. Mark Strum! My friend here in Austin suggested I drive up to see "his guy" I live in NYC for a long time and got use to having certain "guys" for things. And now I have an "eye guy". He took his time to make sure that the prescription would be right and corrective, he even knew that I wasn't going to buy my eye glasses from them. He didn't care about that, just me getting the most accurate prescription possible. So many times before I've been rushed in and rushed back out of an eye exam. Now I understand, they don't make a lot of money of them. Not Dr. Strum, he literally made my life a little better... well, clearer anyways. If you want the most accurate eye exam by a very friendly staff then Georgetown Vision Center is the place... Even if you drive from Austin like I did. Trust me, my "eye guy" is worth the trip. read more

ripped me off, i went to get glasses, the eye doctor did his thing, then i went next door picked out the frames, and then told them i wanted progressive and tinted you know when you go out in the sun they get darker all the bells and whistle, they finally came. i am a musician in church and that sunday i couldn't see the music at all, my 4 dollar dollar store glasses were 10 times better. i called them and the girl told me to wear them a week, to see if my eyes would adjust. i did that still know better at all, i took them back. so she said with my insurance i could have either reading or see far a way, well i could see fairly good at a distance so choose readers, i ask if i could talk to to the eye doctor maybe he made a mistake, they told me he never makes mistakes, i wish i was as good and never made mistakes, anyway i said make the readers and they did, now mind you i paid out of pocket $390 some dollars for these glasses, the insurance only pays the doctor not the glasses. so when i got there i ask how much money i was getting back, the reader glasses are not progressive or are they tinted made to get dark in the sun, they said they are the same price, i said why they don't have the bells and whistles the others had, i told him i could read very well out of my 4 dollar dollar store glasses, i said dude thats like selling me a new caddy and then it doesn't run so you are trying to give me a 6 banger old chevy nova and i still have to pay the price of the caddy, i said may i see the doctor he owns the place are runs it. they said no. so. then they said if i refuse the glasses they would just send them to me in the mail, and i said and i will just bring them back, i am not going to pay the same price for less, this cost me a 66 year old retired man on a limited income almost 400 dollars out of pocket, they had me remove by security, i never cussed them just told the truth. i said i would just out some sights on my car and sit out in the drive, they told they would have me arrested. now they are in a big mall with a lot of other stores i trade with, and there is a hamburger place there, i told them i would just go buy a soda pop and maybe a hamburger, and just tell security i am a paying customer who bought a meal, and i am sitting here eating my lunch. and then i might go into one of the other store, they are in wolf ranch mall in georgetown texas. well its been almost a week haven't heard from them, i tried just to give them back the glasses, and told them i would just stick to my dollar store glasses, it pissed them off again. anyway thats what happen to me there, my wife is a nurses nd she gets her glasses there but not know more, remember when someone was taking your money you were the boss, doctor or know doctor he is taking my money so they should dance our song and we need to quit being sheep. NOW LETS SEE IF THEY GOT THE GUTS TO POST THIS THEY DIDN'T THE OTHER. read more
