My husband and I recently visited Pioneer Vision for the first time. As new patients, it took awhile to get appointments set. I viewed that as a good sign. The practice is located on the lower level of a smaller strip center facing University Blvd. Everyone we met at the practice was friendly and competent. There was no pressure whatsoever to buy glasses there... In fact, we were told if we wanted to bring frames in that they'd accommodate that. Great appt. I really enjoyed my quick appt here. There was maybe 1 mintue wait time. Doc was friendly and thorough. Answered all my questions and didnt feel rushed. I did wonder if he had my script already from my previous records ( thru insurance maybe?) bc i didnt do but maybe 1 or 2 of the (1 or 2, 3 or 4) so how did he know my stuff if it was my 1st visit there? He had to have been given my #s from eyemed. Anyway, my only critique was that they changed my appt time. Not a huge deal but it could have been. All my emails and reminders were for 1030. then all of a sudden a few days before my appt it was changed to 1015. my husband was able to move a meeting but sometimes he cant. (he has to watch our babies for most of my appts---which is why i dont make many appts lol) Aside from that, I would recommend this office to anyone. read more

Excellent experience! I was impressed by the the care from my doctor . She listened to my complaints and gave my a thorough eye exam. I've been wearing glasses for 40+ years and was concerned about the deterioration in my reading vision- she figured out the likely cause and gave me a new prescription. The visit was ok, but we were there almost two hours. I didn't even have time to look at classes because I needed to get my son to school. Not only did it take forever, but he almost forced me to pay for an extra test. I declined it several times and he kept saying it will help this or help that, making it seem like it was super important. So I finally said ok let's do it to be done. Sure enough that test showed my eyes were just fine!!! I came back on another day and did that. It took over a week to get my classes then they weren't even right! I remember asking specifically if they were transitions and she told me of course. Then over the weekend I noticed they never changed. Monday I called and sure enough they weren't so they would need to reorder lenses. It's been over a week and still no new lenses. I called today and they are shipped so I may have what I ordered before the weekend. read more

Love love LOVE Dr. Fell and his staff. Have gone to him three years in a row now. First year without insurance, and of course this is the year my glasses give out. Fitted me with a pair of beautiful tiffany and co. frames and didn't break the bank! Dr. Fell took his time, I was a later in the day appointment and he was thorough with my exam, talked over contact lens options, gave me a pair of a new brand to try, and talked me through my options since I'm uninsured. Everything in the office was spotless. Even though the staff disinfects between appointments, they wipe the equipment again while you're there to build confidence. I have been going to see Dr. Fell since I moved to round rock. I had been wearing glasses only a couple of years and continued to get headaches and everyone told me there was nothing wrong. Dr. Fell quickly figured out the issue and with my new prescription I got my vision back! I have also work with Dr. Fell to get contacts, frames, new lenses as well as prescription sports glasses. He is the eye doctor for the round rock express and knows a lot about vision in regard to sports. His office only carries high quality products so that is one less worry. He is very thorough in his exams and I could tell he actually enjoys his profession, but also about his clients well being. My wife has been wearing glasses since she was a child and went to see him for the first time this year. She said she had never been so informed about what was actually happening with her eye health and Dr. Fell also dialed her vision in by adjusting her prescription. I just left Pioneer Vision and I have never been so thrilled with the process of selecting new glasses. Estela, Niki, and Tracy were amazing in helping me with frame selection. Estela takes all things into consideration, ie: face shape, color, width, etc. I personally have never had someone take such care with great expertise. It was like having a personal clothing shopper but for glasses. I left with glasses that are fun and beautiful and definitely outside of the mundane and boring that I probably would have selected myself. Normally I use a different optometrist in my own neighborhood but since I'm receiving Medicaid now that I'm pregnant I had to go to a different place that accepts it. This place was awesome. The staff at the front desk was extremely knowledgable and even went out of their way to help me find a place that accepts Medicaid for new glasses (their office only pays for the exam). The Dr. himself, you could tell right away that he loves what he does. It's obvious that he takes pride in what his talents are and to boot, he's friendly! I'm very satisfied with the care that I received here and may even consider changing him to my regular optometrist once I have my baby and the Medicaid runs out. read more

I cannot believe that I forgot to do this a couple of weeks ago. I need to rave about my new eye clinic, Pioneer Vision! Dr. Fell and his entire team are the best. I had a pretty negative experience a couple of years ago at another Round Rock clinic and I couldn't be happier to have found Pioneer. From the moment I walked in the door I felt welcome and the environment was super friendly and laid back. Dr. Fell was wonderful and listened. The optical staff was attentive and helped me find some killer frames (which I still need to go back and get). I took my son there who plays sports and they did a great job of evaluating his eyes and providing quick, courteous service and a thorough evaluation that even contained some education on how the eyes age and the types of conditions that can be spotted early and addressed. I'd recommend him to everyone who has vision questions - Dr. Fell takes his time, makes sure you understand his evaluation and his recommendations. He actually advised me against changing his prescription since there wasn't enough change to make any difference in my son's vision!!! Super friendly staff and very competent eye care. Dr. Fell takes the time to explain what the different testing shows and how changes would show up with me, if diabetes progresses to damage my eyes. I do not carry eye exam and glasses/contact coverage on my health insurance, but they insisted on submitting my visit...and lo and behold Aetna did give me a 40% reduction of cost of frames. Would never have known that without their intervention! Great selection of frames to choose from; everyone asks where I got my glasses. Would highly recommend this practice if you are looking for someone to watch over your eyesight. read more

I went in as a new patient and was treated pretty poorly. The receptionists were too busy talking to each other to even help me. I asked them if they can check to make sure my insurance was accepted by them and they said that I had to talk to my HR manager for the subscriber number. They were too lazy to pull up my information with my full name, date of birth, and my social. I ended up in their parking lot calling Visionworks and they were able to pull up my information within 1 minute. Maybe your employees should take classes on ethics and customer service. I was upset about staff being disorganized in terms of communication with each other (one example: one said we have a discount on glasses, another said no ), demanding payment upfront even after confirming coverage with my insurance company, and staff being unable to navigate properly through the prompts the first time she called my insurance company, thus getting the wrong info that we were not covered. But I'm changing this from 2 stars to 4 because we really like Dr. Fell, staff had always been pleasant and polite in response to my frustrations, and finally refunded my credit card. read more

Finally had to face the fact that my aging eyes needed help and went to see Dr. Fell. What an amazing experience! His very friendly and professional staff made me feel at home and walked me through the tests painlessly. After verifying that corrections would be helpful, they helped me choose from a great selection of frames. My glasses are now in, one pair of sunglasses and one pair regular and they are great! While I'm still adjusting to being called "4 eyes" by my kids, am very thankful for Dr. Fell and his team for helping me be able to see! read more
