Because this is a local small business the attention to customers is personalized and detailed. When I arrived, the front desk greeted me by name and checked me in promptly. The diagnostic technician was thorough and explained each eye test carefully so I would know what to expect. The doctor also took her time and listened to my concerns. In the end, I felt I had been treated with utmost professionalism and received the most up to date care available. read more

Went here for eye glasses and found that they accept insurance but for high prescriptions they are like charging $231 whereas Costco was charging hardly $100 for 1.74 index. The staff is not customer friendly especially if you go with kids they make faces. I recommend going to Costco instead. Not many options as well in frames here. read more

Excellent care and the best experience I've ever had at an optometrist. Dr. Thames is kind and caring and took care of my concerns. The staff did a great job in finding a pair of eyeglasses that suited my taste and budget and took care of the insurance details so I didn't have to worry about it. Highly recommended. read more

FOCUS Vision & Eye Care - Optometrists Near Me - Hutto, Texas

Recently tried switching from my previous eye care physician to Focus Vision and eye care. First issue I ran into, is the refusal to dilate my eyes during what was meant to be my yearly eye exam. They only had me look at dot colored images, and use the ophthalmoscope to exam my eye. I mentioned how my previous doctor also used a device to scan images of my eye and would dilate them to exam their overall health. However, I was told because I was diabetic (Something my previous doctor knew about) I would need to come in for an additional visit. However I was not provided what the cost of this visit would be, and after speaking with my eye and health insurance they were unable to understand why this was. I mentioned my Diabetes is handled my an endocrinologist and I had no worries of it's effect my eye sight, they still would not change their information. After the eye exam I was taken to their glasses section to purchase new frames for my updated prescription. I was told at the time that my insurance covered all but a portion of the tint for outside wear AND that my insurance covered purchasing two pairs at the same coverage (all I would need to pay is for the tint). Three months later, I received an additional bill from Vision Care. I reached out to them and they advised because I purchased two frames I owed them an additional copay. I asked why this was? Why was I not told this at the time of purchase? and why my copay for the exam didn't cover this copay? I was information "Sometimes it happens", and "their sorry they missed it but still expect me to pay the additional charges". I asked if I needed to speak with VPS about this, and was informed no this is a charge from them. I was then passed off to a manager who informed me no this charge was from VPS. These two answers were given 2 minutes a part from one another. I asked if I could return the second pair, as I was not properly informed of all charges or what I would need to pay. Their response was no, and if it happened they would charge me more for the frames anyway. ---- TLDR; The overall lack of medical care provided during my eye exam, and billing unexplained charges months after my service makes this place extremely untrustworthy and personal I feel like they are a scam doctor seeking to maximize what they can squeeze out of patient. I would not recommend going here and looking for other options for eye care. read more

I am very impressed with the friendly yet professional attitude and atmosphere in the office. They have not seen us in a year but made us feel like we were there yesterday. They were able to get my family of 4 in on the same day and worked us through quickly. They weren't even remotely upset when our appointments wmet into closing time. I had such a pleasant experience here at Focus Vision, as a first time patient. The two front desk ladies were very friendly, and helpful answering all the questions I had for them. Dr. Thames was extremely friendly, and professional. She also answered every question I had for her, and wrote down information for me regarding allergy eye drops. She was very pleasant to talk to, and very caring. All 3 of the ladies here we very sweet to my daughter as well. Price of lens, and frames were very affordable compared to other places I had looked at. Office was clean, and welcoming. My appointment in total took maybe 30-40 minutes, and I never felt rushed which was very nice. I definitely reccomend this office to everyone. It's nice to feel so welcomed at a doctor's office! read more

I was more than happy with the service at Focus. Dr Thames recommended that I spoke to an eye surgeon about cataract surgery which I did. After the surgery when I wanted to go back and get a prescription for the slight defect in the vision in one eye I had to get another eye exam. It seemed a lot if expense as I had only had an exam a few months earlier. After brining this to the attention of Dr. Thames and her partners this policy has now been changed. I'm happy that we could discuss this and come up with a solution. read more

Dr Thames and her professional staff are absolutely fabulous. She's highly intelligent with no of the arrogance. Courteous and knowledgeable staff with assistance with selecting the best suited for you. I've purchased frames and contacts since the office opened and never had buyers remorse. Went in to Focus for a check up on January 9, 2023. I had not had an eye exam in 2 years. But I had been using Focus Vision for about 5 years. During the exam I informed the doctor of floaters, light in the bottom of the eye that came and went and extreme blurriness in the left eye. She explained that it was "nerve endings." Then my prescription was updated for new glasses. My vision continued to bother me so on January 17, 2023 I went to Austin Retina. At Austin Retina they determined that I had a Detached Retina. This was not diagnosed by Focus Vision and Eye Care even after their testing and explaining my vision concerns. I had my first surgery to repair the Detached Retina on January 24, 2023. I had a second surgery in March 2023 due to continuing vision problems in the left eye. To finish it off I received my new glasses on January 16, 2023. So no I will not be returning to FOCUS Vision & Eye Care!!! read more

I Love this office! Dr. Thames is excellent and professional and explains all procedures. However, I wanted to provide a special "shout out" to Jessica in the front office! I called one afternoon after traveling as I started seeing some flashes of light in my R eye and was concerned re: possible detached retina. Dr. Thames was out of the office and Jessica immediately contacted Retina Assoc. and got me an appt that day within 30 minutes! I did have a posterior vitreous detachment! This clinic has some of the most kind professionals I've ever experienced at an eye clinic, the optometrist made me feel extremely comfortable during our meeting and answered all my questions thoroughly, I checked out with the receptionist and told her I was unsure of what frames I'd like and she showed me around the store but never pressured me into buying anything. Lovely experience overall! Thank you to this clinic's awesome team. read more

This was my first visit and I completely forgot. They called and were very patient and kind in helping me get another time (same day dr stayed late) the experience was great from the time I walked in. Very professional staff. Love this place! We have finally found our eye-care home. We called on Saturday and they were happily able to squeeze us in. Dr. Lacy was kind and informative. They offer the new testing for eyes that can test without the dreaded "puff in the eye" test! Dr. Lacy did all the tests on my wife and I, letting us know how we did. The exam itself was thorough as Dr. Lacy answered all of our questions and explained all the different options of tests/lenses/contacts now available with no pressures to buy. It was a great experience and we will be back! read more

I've been twice and have had a great experience both times. I'm in & out quickly, but the visits are thorough and I've never felt rushed. I've worn contacts occasionally over the years & have always struggled with them. Dr. Lacey gave me some tips today when I tried again, and was so patient with me! I really appreciated her guidance and she gave me the confidence to try contacts again. read more

I went to FOCUS today for the first time for a much needed, overdue eye exam. The front office staff was super welcoming and very helpful. She provided amazing customer service, which I always look for in a new business. I didn't have to wait too long to be seen by Dr. Chen. She was quick and explained everything about my eye health in good detail. She was very sweet and made the entire appointment easy and enjoyable. I would recommend FOCUS over and over again. Very nice practice. Conveniently located and very clean and updated. I especially loved the 3D imaging tool which prevented that eye dilation and made "recovery" non-existent. Dr. Thames was very informed and took time to explain a lot of things. I'll definitely be going back there! read more

I've been needing a change of doctors and I finally found it! Doctor prescribed me a whole new pair of contact lenses and they are AMAZING! I liked my eye appointment, and the doctor which is why you get 2 stars instead of 1. I do not appreciate trying to buy contacts and you say repeatedly that you price match 1-800contacts when you won't honor the price match. I called today to order at first I spoke with the doctor who was polite, but didn't see the price I was referring to. The receptionist called me back and sarcastically told me "I would basically be paying you to wear them if I honored that price." Since when do claim to price match but then tell your customer no because you don't like the price? Are you kidding me? Great customer service is lacking when you don't want to buy a year supply. I will not be back! read more

Not impressed, we waited for optometrist to see if she accepted care credit, they dont. However, what was sad is when optometrist came out, she didn't even look at us, ironic, didn't even greet us.
