I was overdue for an annual eye so I made an appointment with Stone Hill Optical. Making an appointment online was easy and I was able to get an appointment within the same week, on a Saturday afternoon too. I arrived to my appointment early so I looked through their vast selection of eyeglasses and sunglasses on display for adults and children. My exam went smoothly. Lisa performed all the basic exams, like a retina scan, to prepare for the doctor. Dr. Silverino was very helpful answering all my eye questions and she recommended contact lenses based on my needs. Customer service! Educate your employees on products & how to treat customers. Change contracts with the lab that makes the glasses so you can be better equips to assist those with eye issues or disease. Stone Hill Optical came highly recommended I have an autoimmune disease that affects my eyes making them super sensitive to light. I need transitions with the darkest tint available & every add-on available. Glasses are very expensive with insurance because of this. The exam went very well. A very nice young lady helped me select frames & made the order. I picked the glasses up & there was very little tint. I took them back within minutes. I was told my insurance would not cover the tint & that was the reason. False!! My insurance never pays for add-ons. I asked for my money back & I left the glasses with them because I could not use them. I received a call telling me that it was the lab they use. The one they use does not make lenses with a grade 3 or higher tint. I was not told this up front. I was also told that Stone Hill Optical could choose any lab they wanted but contracted with this particular one. WHY? Is it the cheapest? I was told they would find another lab to make my glasses. I picked up the remade glasses a couple of weeks later. A man "assisted" me with them. I said something about the tint better be right this time. He suggested I allow them to make me a custom pair of sunglasses. Seriously?? I spend over $800 out of pocket for transition glasses & he makes a comment like that. I put the glasses on & he told me they looked straight & no effort to make sure they fit other than that . I just left before I lost my temper. I went back to have the nose pieces switched out. I got stuck with the same guy as before. He gave me the last pair of silicone nose grips they had in stock. I had to ask him three times before he told me the size of the grips. Customer service is MUCH to be desired. My glasses still do not fit properly & still do not get dark enough in sunlight. I do not live in Pflugerville & am recovering from major back surgery. I will have to go back again when I feel up to it to have them properly adjusted. I definitely will not let the same person assist me again. Stone Hill Optical may be good for those with normal eyewear needs. I honestly do not know. I do know that I will not use them again next year. I do not recommend Stone Hill Optical to anyone who needs new eyewear with major eye issues. The doctor was good. The rest was a ...well definitely not a good experience. read more

This is my experience in the Optical Department of Stone Hill Optical located at Pflugerville, TX (my 4th time to be at Stone HilI Optical for this Rx eyeglasses). My last visit (12/5/25) with the doctor was an eye exam (2nd time). She also checked the fitting of the eyeglasses with new Rx lenses (redone 2nd time). The doctor told me that even just a little tilt could cause problems especially for progressive lens. Add to that I have very little or no nose bridge that also affects the eyeglasses fitting and position of the lenses. The doctor did some frame and nose pad adjustments and somehow the double words I see had improved. The Rx had changed in that visit and the lenses have to be changed. She gave instructions to opticians not to make any adjustments with the frame. Tuesday, Dec.16, 2025, I was inside Stone Hill Optical eyeglasses/frame area at 4:30pm, to pick up my eyeglasses redone for the second time hoping it will be done right this time. The lady optician was nice, friendly and accommodating. The eyeglass frame needs a little adjustment as I am still seeing a little bit of double words not merging into a solid single word. Though that had improved a lot better from my last visit, it needs a little bit of adjustment in the nose pad area. I asked the optician if it is possible that the doctor who corrected the adjustment in my last visit could make some adjustment. She is with a patient so I will have to wait. There is no definite answer with a Yes or No if the doctor could do it (as there are opticians who can do it). The guy named Dave Williams took over. He said there were instructions not to make any frame adjustments. But removing and changing the lens could make something not right with frame and nose pad adjustments. He is trying to sound nice with a nice voice but he did not make any adjustments because he did not want to do it. He told me the eyes are tired in the afternoon. I am the one wearing the eyeglasses and I know how it feels in my face. No nosepad adjustment, no frame adjustment. Dave really wanted me to just pick up the eyegalses and come back another time. I got impatient I asked for a card and his name. Only then I knew that Dave is the manager. What a way to treat a client. Stone Hill Optical closes at 5:30pm. Dave wanted to get things done so that the door is locked at 5:30pm. The text message from Stone Hill Optical, your eyeglasses is ready for pick up means that the client will only pick it up. They expect it to be perfectly fitting. No adjustments done if Dave Williams will attend to you. So stay away from Dave Williams. He does not serve you well as a client. What a way to give a bad impression, a bad review about Stone Hill Optical Pflugerville because of Dave Williams. Otherwise, the doctors at Stone Hill Optical are great. read more

For many years, our family has been a loyal customer of Stone Hill Optical, consistently impressed by their exceptional service. In October 2024, I scheduled an urgent appointment due to severe eye pain. Prior to treatment, I confirmed with the front desk that Stone Hill Optical was an in-network provider for United Healthcare. The company's website explicitly states that they are an in-network provider for the treatment of eye diseases, infections, and other urgent care concerns (https://stonehilloptical.com/insurance/). I was asked to pay a $30 co-pay upfront on that day and was told the remaining balance will be billed to United Healthcare. Regrettably, in November, I received a bill from Stone Hill Optical demanding the full payment for the treatment. I contacted United Healthcare, the customer service representative informed me that the claim had been rejected due to Stone Hill Optical is an out-of-network provider. I reached out to Stone Hill Optical, where the billing manager Dave asserted that the claim had been submitted correctly and that there were no errors. However, he refused to engage in further communication with United Healthcare. On the phone, Dave confirmed that the rejection note received from United Healthcare stated that Stone Hill Optical was not in United Healthcare's network. They first misled customers by claiming to be an in-network provider and then charged customers the full amount because they are not, in fact, an in-network provider. This is pure fraud. read more

First time coming to Stone Hill Optical and the process from start to finish went smoothly. Upon check-in, my husband and I were greeted immediately from the front desk. We both scheduled our eye exams back to back with Dr. Nguyen and he was super friendly, professional and so easy to talk too. They have a great selection of designer frames (which typically I don't get) ...but this time why not lol. My previous glasses have always been the same rectangle shape, but this time I wanted to be open to other styles and so glad I was. Shannon found me a cute cat-eye Versace frames that complimented my face shape ..and my husband also approved so it's a win-win! Overall, I do recommend coming here. It's been a few years since I've gotten an eye exam. Mostly, because I don't use my prescription glasses all that much (only on the computer) and also because of the pandemic. I've always resented going to the eye exam because the past 2 optometrists made a big deal about me not wearing glasses and their methods of testing my vision always seemed unpleasant. I remember sitting there telling the doctor that I can't see the letters, but they keep repeatedly asking me to relax and focus and flipping around different lens and displays and repeatedly asking again and again if I can see it. It got to a point where I think they just "settled" on to something because I was having a hard time. I believe that's led to my prescription being either too strong or too weak because my vision with the glasses on never felt quite right. It took a few tweaks before I can get a pair of glasses that I feel "kinda" comfortable with. My eyes still get the "squeezing" sensation with tired and dry eyes happening when I wear the glasses just for a few hours. Here at Stone Hill Optical though, Dr Snowberger changed my whole attitude towards seeing an optometrist. His relaxing and pleasant demeanor with clear, easy to understand explanations put my concerns at ease. The eye exam part with the flipping of the lens was surprisingly easy and pleasant. He explained to me about astigmatism and why sometimes it looks as if the letters are double when it's too blurry. He asked deeper questions about how I use my glasses and what difficulties I have with my vision. His skill in using the machines and flipping those lens to what's best for me is just top notch. I'm so glad I came to see Dr Snowberger. I didn't tell him about my bad experiences from other optometrists before and it's just kinda eerie how he seemed to have read my mind and addressed all those prior issues and unpleasant experiences. The experience with Dr. Snowberger is a solid 5 stars. The only complaint I have is the wait time. I had a 10am appointment and showed up 10 minutes early but I didn't get to see the assistant until 10:30. That's 40 minutes wait for me. read more

My family and I have been loyal customers of Stonehill Optical. Even going back to when they were TSO. We have always received great service and so we were ok spending thousands of dollars there throughout the years. My son suffers from social anxiety and is very particular with who he trusts. Hr is comfortable with Dr. Silverton. Today we have been verbally abused and treated very poorly by a new person named Melinda. She called very aggressively and spoke in a condescending tone as soon as words came out of her mouth. She is arguing with me over insurance when I am an insurance professional. I know I am able to use my vision or my health insurance to get an eye exam. An eye exam is covered under almost every health insurance plan as it is considered preventative care. Melinda literally yelled,scoffed, etc. to bully me off the phone. If I verify with BCBS that they cover eye exams, I will be filing a complaint with the Attorney General ​ read more

My family has been coming here a few years now and while we still love this practice, we felt that a recent situation was not handled optimally. We learned the hard way to not rely on their staff when they verify our insurance. After confirming our exams would be covered with their office staff, they booked them. Unfortunately, they made a mistake. They booked my husband a month too early in the plan year. One month later and he would have been covered. Since it was too soon, our vision insurance denied the claim. Stone Hill then billed us $200. This is their full, cash pay rate, not the negotiated rate that our insurance would have paid them, had they covered the claim. When I pushed back, they lowered it to $100 (still almost double what our insurance pays). They eventually agreed to lower it to the amount that our insurance would have paid them ($59). I felt that they should have covered this, since they verified our coverage before we booked. I do want to be clear that I would still recommend them, but I will suggest always rechecking your own benefits, because if they make an insurance mistake, you may be the one to pay for it. The doctors are still great and the practice is still what I would consider to be above average, despite the insurance headache. read more

Up until now I had nothing but glowing praise for this establishment, now I'm going to search for another optician, which is sad because I actually like Dr. Silverio. I ordered some Oliver People's frames from the online store and took them to have my prescription added and get my lens insurance discount. After 3 weeks I finally get called to pick them up, so I asked the "tech" to adjust the behind the ear arm; he adjusted all right--broke my expensive frames! Immediately he says I signed a waiver absolving them of responsibility, basically, which I never did. He never apologized, just continued making me furious to the point I told him to stop talking to me. As if that wasn't bad enough, they added further insult to injury...the prescription is all kinds of wrong, I'd have to hold them in front of my face like binoculars for them to be correct! No wonder they ask for payment in advance, they'd lose money or get it right instead of basically stealing your money; I'm left with useless, broken glasses. Good luck getting a refund. read more

My first experience with Dr. Snowberger was just "okay" and I would have preferred a different doctor for my second appointment. I was going in this time for contacts. I spoke several times with their front desk person who NEVER once mentioned my copay of the cost for contact exam but he did it today in front of another patient. I asked why it was not mentioned during pervious calls or when he called to confirm my appointment Saturday. When I was taken back I mentioned this to person prepping for the appointment. She was kind and patient. However, Snowberger was told about what I said. I explained it would have been nice to be told in advance about my cost so he points out about a text that I had received and in paragraph it states an amount but "not an exact amount" He said it's your insurance not us. I said I know it's my insurance. I said I would not be coming back. He said did I want to continue.... I said let's it but he appeared to want to argue and kept saying stuff like "pushing back in his staff" I never pushed back on his state. I asked a question like any other patient would. We ended up determining that we're not a good fit. He told me to put my contacts back in. This Dr. is rude and has NO customer service skills. He even stood in the doorway still talking so that everyone could hear in his business. He does not realize if I tell one person of my experience that person will tell another person. My problem was when we went to pick up our glasses, I got new lenses but not new frames and when I took them out there was dirt and smudges all over them. Wow. It feels bizarre to say this was the best eye exam I've ever had but it really was. Here's my reasoning: 1. Making an appointment after finding them on my insurance site was super easy - they had tons of open times. 2. I was greeted kindly and didn't have to wait before starting the preliminary exam stuff 3. Everyone from front staff to Dr. Silverio was friendly, polite, and attentive. 4. Exceptionally clean office and all the protocols for covid safety observed to a T. I felt healthier leaving than I did entering, lol. 5. Diverse group of staff and customers, and atmosphere made me feel comfortable being there in my yoga pants and crocs. 6. Price was very modest for a year of contacts and their setup for payment and processing was a total breeze with very clear communication and excellent customer service. I made an appt over the phone a few days prior. Walked in, and while the shop/office seemed busy (last day of the year, and to use your HSA!) -- there was essentially no wait-time. I was greeted and taken care of by Destiny. She was friendly and walked me through the various steps of the check up. I was met by Dr. Snowberger for the actual eye exam. He had a pleasant demeanor. I enjoyed that Dr. Snowberger was thorough, easy to talk to, and responded to all my questions. After the exam, he handed me off to checkout with Jennifer. She provided an overview of my fees and costs, and gave recommendations on frames that I might be interested. I liked that there was no pressure to select my glasses on that day. I got home and logged onto the portal to check on my prescription and order. Prior to the appt, I received a text message with a link to access the site. I had trouble logging in, and responded to the text. There was a response in minutes with a message to reset my password. Waste of time and very poor communication. Made an appointment online weeks in advance. Varied with both my insurance and the establishments website that they are in network. Even uploaded insurance information. The day of the front desk person stated "I'm not sure if any one called you but we no longer accept Davis Insurance (BCBS along with many others falls under Davis). No one contacted me to stats this but they contacted me to confirm my appointment. This appointment was during core working our meaning I took off work to drive there. What is the purpose of filling out information online if no one is reading and verifying. At this point even if this was miss-information given by the staff. I would not return. I've been going to this exact location for many years. Last year I didn't get my exam cause they couldn't understand my insurance and wanted to overcharge me. I let that slide and I went ahead and got my sons exam done though 2019. Now I understand with COVID the precautions we all need to take but to not allow anyone under 5 to receive an exam is a bit over the top. I'd understand not taking new patients but he got his exam there last year and for a child to go somewhere unfamiliar can be a bit unsettling. Incredibly, fast and pleasant experience! State of the art machinss and technology. -The eye puff machine worked on the first try for me and almost always blink or take multiple tries. -The eye camera technology means no dilation necessary. Amazing! -Gabby, the eye exam assistant provided a very pleasant experience. Explained what the purpose was behind each step and clearly knew what she was doing. -The doctor was professional and precise in getting me a new prescription. -The floor sales team helped me pick out some new frames and I got a new style that I'm happy with. -setting my appointment with my insurance was easy and quick with lots of availability for times. -SAME DAY new glasses and frames ready in the time it took me to go to Torchys eat and come back. Waited 2 weeks for Ray Ban Rx sunglasses. When they finally came in they were missing the Ray Ban logo. When I ordered them i specifically asked if the logo would come and was assured they would. So, i paid $300 for Ray Ban glasses and didn't get what i was promised. They made no attempt to fix the problem. They did quickly process my refund which takes 10 days to show back up. My gf was going to order from there and purchase $500 in products which they have now lost, along with my return. They were nice about the return, but didn't seem to care about the lost business. I'm changing my rating based on Dr. Snowberger. We had issues with his staff canceling our appointment without our knowledge. They fixed the issue and we were able to keep our original appointments and my kids really enjoy Dr. Snowberger, as do I. I am still only giving 3 stars because of my experience with their staff in regards to their glasses and billing practices from last summer. They charge way more for glasses than most other places. When I ask them why they are so high I was told I can go somewhere else. I can find the exact pair of glasses at other stores and online for much cheaper (I went to three other establishments looking at glasses for myself and my kids last year). Instead of telling me to go somewhere else, I should have been given reasons as to why theirs are more expensive. The billing for the glasses we tried to purchase last summer was crazy and I don't trust that they bill insurance properly. The Doctors there are great. But the rest of the staff is lacking. read more

I really appreciate the clean, friendly and inviting atmosphere here. The staff is helpful and professional. After the preliminary exam by the technician, I was examined by Dr. Scott Snowberger, who was approachable and knowledgeable. I really enjoyed his wisdom and skills. The lady's that sell the frames and do the insurance part were equally comfortable to deal with. My only issue is that I got my new glasses on Thursday, and now on Sunday-3 days later, my lens fell out of my glasses. I look forward to returning tomorrow to get them repaired. I hope the lens didn Ok, I got lens put back into frames. When I got home, and took glasses out, the lens fell out again! I think I need new glasses Returned a few days later, and glasses were re-made completely. The new glasses have worked flawlessly. will return when time for my next exam. Avoid. Better options out there. They try to trap you, and overcharge. Basically my wife complained that one of the staff was short with her when she asked questions. They didn't work with her to look at better options in our budget. I couldn't find the PD (pupilary distance) on our son's prescription. They refused to give it, and one staff member's information on this ("didn't measure, not able to at that location") disagreed with the information a different staff member at the same location gave when we called back together. Neither staff member was helpful regarding this, and it seemed to hinge on the fact that we had not bought glasses from them. For those unaware, PD is really simple. How far apart are your eyes? That's what it measures. A more advanced measurement just measures how far each eye is from center, in case your face is asymmetrical, which a lot of peoples' faces are. The game they are playing is the "make them overpay for our glasses here (prevent them from buying online)" game. I will say that my people at Round Rock Eye will play a version of the same game, but if you ultimately make it clear what your intentions are, they will work with you. As an example, I'll pay for a contact fitting fee, but I'm not going to pay for a glasses exam on top of that. My advice though, ask about fitting fees up front, ask what pieces of info they will or will not give you with your exam, and tell this place they are unreasonable by taking your business elsewhere if they are going to try to use you as an ATM by forcing you to buy from them. They provide a medical service, it is ethically wrong for them to provide an exam that is unusable to allow a patient to order glasses elsewhere without a measurement that can essentially be done with a regular ruler. read more

I really dislike getting eye exams, but my assigned doctor here was very patient and kind through the process. He was positive and assured me that everything was fine with my eyes. I have been a patient of this place for over a year now. I have always had an exceptional experience. Dr. Nguyen is really great at what he does and his explanation throughout made me feel informed and confident in their services. This made me think of them first when it came time for my 6-year-old to get glasses. She saw Dr. Nguyen too and she said he was nice and she had a good experience. I love the glasses I've gotten and I know she will too. They do get busy, especially on weekends. I did have to wait for about 15 mins before I could check in as they were dealing with another customer for a long time. After I checked in though, I was called back right away. This was my first time going to Stone Hill. The location is convenient and I was able to find parking easily. Due to the pandemic, they had rules about how to check in. I had to call them and then they called me back once it was good for me to come in. It didn't take long at all. Everyone I interacted with was friendly. I didn't have to wait long for Dr. Nguyen. I felt like the eye exam was thorough, and that he answered all my questions. I didn't feel pressured by the sales people whatsoever. They went through all of the costs for a pair of glasses. They made sure anything I touched got sanitized after. I felt like things were explained to me well. I ended up buying a pair there, and they emailed me my prescriptions so I could purchase elsewhere if I wanted to. It took a week to get the glasses even though they said it would take two. Check up was easy, even though I was late. The lady who assist me with checking my vision ( didn't see her name) was nice and professional. And here is Dr. Scott Lee Snowberger. He is energetic, super friendly and positive person. I like how you treat your patients, please keep up. It's not common see doctors with people skills. As I see whoever rate this place 1 star did not rate experience at doctors, but glasses issues they had. But you know, you better address problem to management and they most likely solve your problem. It's nothing to do with people working there. Thank you read more
