I got into a freak accident at home and had hurt my eye on a Friday evening. Gave them a call early morning on Saturday and left a voicemail. As soon as they opened they gave me a call back and got me scheduled in within 30 mins ! Great facility and great doctor and nurse experience. All the other staff are super professional , kind and very friendly. They have the latest and best equipment's when it comes to eye ! Super clean clinic and big one as well. They accept all major insurance. It was super easy and convenient to schedule other appointment with them. They also offer drive through if you have to pick up any prescription order/glasses ! I took my daughter to this clinic for an eye exam last month with Dr. Kodukula. After the exam, they pressured us to immediately sign a 2-year contract for their Treehouse myopia control program costing $3,400 ($1,700 per year). I asked for some time to think about it and declined to sign on the spot. Later, I called and asked them to email my daughter's prescription since I had already paid for the exam and lens fitting. The staff initially told me they would not provide the prescription unless we enrolled in their $3,400 program, which was very concerning. After insisting, they said they would send the glasses prescription the same day, but nothing was sent. When I called again on March 4, 2026, another employee told me to go to another provider. After the call was supposedly disconnected, I could still hear two employees from the contact lens department talking. They began mocking and insulting me, calling me "crazy" and making other rude remarks while laughing. One of them even said "Dr. K wants to get rid of her." This continued for several minutes until they realized I was still on the line and quickly ended the call saying OMG I think she's recording, This level of unprofessional and disrespectful behavior toward a patient is shocking, especially from a medical clinic. I also understand that under the Eyeglass Rule and Contact Lens Rule, enforced by the Federal Trade Commission, patients are entitled to receive their prescription after an exam and fitting. Refusing to provide it unless a patient enrolls in an expensive program raises serious compliance concerns. I do not recommend this place. In my experience, they seemed more focused on pushing expensive programs than treating patients with professionalism and respect. read more

I've never dealt with such utter incompetence before. My previous Eye Doctor had retired and my records were transferred there so I felt it was the safer option. That was a big mistake. Dr. Hammond didn't follow my previous Eye Doctor recommendations and decided to rock the boat and change my prescriptions. Needless to say my glasses are the wrong prescription. My contacts are the wrong prescription. They can't seem to order the right prescription. They order trials again, but they screwed that up too. I can't even tell you how much money and time I have wasted going back-and-forth to this office for such incompetence. read more

Yes and no to recommending this place depending on what you are getting. The faculty is state of the art and it's always easy to get an appointment. If you just want to get your eyes checked and a prescription updated, I highly recommend it. However, beware when you purchase any glasses. I recently got some progressive lenses added to a frame that I already owned and the price was ridiculously high. I thought that since they were progressives (bifocals) that they were just high due to inflation. I never got a receipt at the time of purchase. I did some checking online and saw how I got overcharged and I called and requested an itemized receipt. Turns out their "specialist" Noah gave me pretty much every add on they had and even added a warranty. Now keep in mind, the only thing I was asked at the time was if I wanted them to turn dark in the sun and I said no. No other questions but I got all kinds of UV scratch resistant options added on without being asked about it. It felt like walking out of a car dealership and having the rust proofing and extended warranty added on without my knowledge. Very shady. I heard the guy across from me get charged over $1000 for a pair of glasses. I say avoid buying glasses here and just get them online or go to Target. read more

Doctor advised for me to take freshkote preservative free eye drops to help with dryness, only to sell me 1+ year plus expired drops. They caused chemical burns on my eye and open sores on my eyelids. Reached out to see if I could get a refund for them (to which they originally agreed), once in person they refused because they lost record of selling them to me. Not sure what going on, but in my 5 years of going there they continue to lose records or incorrectly document them. Absolutely terrible practice and makes this company VERY liable on multiple aspects. read more

Man I love this place! I've been coming here for almost 10 years, and I'll never go anywhere else. They moved into a new location, and it's the coolest optometry practice you will find. Vibe is trendy, and they go to great lengths to make everyone feel comfortable and cared for. Eye exams are quick and easy, and all the staff members are professional and friendly. I see Dr. Kim Slaughter, and she is very caring and efficient. My new favorite part is the optical side! Who knew you could go somewhere to get not only glasses, but sunglasses repaired?! Life changing. You know when the nose cushion falls off your favorite pair of shades and you feel helpless? No more! Recently, I had an arm fall off my new Maui Jim shades, and Figurative tears welled in my eyes. My 10 year old son needed an eye exam because we were suspecting that corrective lenses were needed. I made the appointment because a) they are close by and b) they offer a discount for BCBS members & we were wanting a contact lens fitting in addition to glasses. It was super convenient to schedule the appointment online as well as filling out the new patient paperwork. Also, when I called to confirm the cost, the lady on the phone was super kind and patient to answer all my questions. When we showed up, I was impressed with the facilities/equipment and the incredible customer service from every single person we interacted with. My son was fitted for contacts and the technician took all the time to help him learn how to put the contacts in and take them out. Great job to the whole team! read more

Dr. Catalasan is the absolute best neuro optometrist in Austin. I've been to 5 of them and nothing bad with them, she's just that good. My eyes are damaged from a stroke so just any eye exam and quickie eyeglasses won't do. She has ways of testing certain functions that don't leave me laying on the floor and/or vomiting. She's given me tools to help symptoms that others never mentioned or said weren't possible. The staff is great too and communicating with them and Dr Catalasan is easy & convenient. read more

I'd forgotten about my appointment at Lakeline Vision Source with Dr. Kodukula a year ago until I received a card in the mail prompting me to schedule another appointment since it's been a year. I absolutely will not be returning to Lakeline Vision Source. I was insulted by the way I was treated by Dr. Kodukula. I've had dry eyes for several years and chose Lakeline Vision Source and to see Dr. Kodukula to transfer my care from an optometrist in another city to an optometrist in Austin because of the good things I'd read on Yelp. My quick visit was ridiculous for several reasons. 1. Despite relaying my history (and the many things I've tried) to Dr. Kodukula, she offered basic, first-line treatment suggestions for dry eyes, despite my telling her I'd tried them and was currently using them. Yes, I use fish oil, lid scrubs, and warm compresses. 2. After I told her that another optometrist had tried scleral lenses with me, she remarked something along the lines of, "Oh you poor thing, you're definitely not a candidate for sclerals." What a demeaning and dismissive comment to make to someone on the first visit. 3. After examining my oil glands, telling my my oil production was fine and that my glands didn't seem clogged, and explaining the use of a warm compress for dry eyes (which I told her I already use), Dr. Kodukula told me how if warm compresses help, their office has a fancy, expensive therapy called Lipiflow. She gave me a whole sales pitch on Lipiflow, including how much the therapy usually costs and how much it would cost since it was *on sale.* I commented that she'd just told me my oil production was fine and asked her how much it would realistically help my dry eyes, she then said Lipiflow probably wouldn't help much. I refrained from asking, "Are you a medical professional with my best interests in mind or are you a saleswoman?" By this time, near the end of the appointment, I was frustrated and upset. Dr. Kodukula picked up on this (to some extent) and noticed that my pupils were dilated, which is a typical response to being in a flight-or-fight situation. For me, that situation was feeling misunderstood and taken advantage of by someone who was supposed to be a trustworthy healthcare provider. I wanted to get out of that office. 4. Dr. Kodukula's response was to ask me if I was taking any illegal drugs (because my pupils were dilated). No, Dr. Kodukula, I don't do drugs, and your asking me if I did near the end of the appointment made me feel like you thought I was crazy. 5. The appointment was briskly concluded, and I was ushered to check out, with Dr. Kodukula's suggestion that I should purchase their office's (overpriced) fish oil, lid scrub, and warm compress and follow-up after I'd tried those things for a while if things weren't better. This business has lots of great equipment and technology to help their optometrists do a good job taking care of patients' eyes. My experience was that Lakeline Vision Source is just that -- a business. They ran me through, collected my copay, tried to upsell me on an expensive therapy that wouldn't actually benefit me and overpriced, basic eye care products that I'd already tried. I'm a physical therapist. At the time that I saw Dr. Kodukula, I was a student physical therapist. I know the difference between a healthcare practice that puts patients first and cares about complex patients and a business that's trying to maximize profit. My awful experience at Lakeline Vision Source is one reason why I do my best as a healthcare provider to listen to my patients and provide compassionate, appropriate care. read more

I had the pleasure of meeting Jennifer when I needed to repair my broken eyeglasses. Her technical knowledge was impressive as she examined my glasses to determine how to repair them. She determined that they were beyond repair and searched her inventory to see if she had a replacement frame in stock to save me time. She was thorough, diligent and positive. She answered all my questions, even the stupid ones, honestly and respectfully. She clearly goes the extra mile to get the job done! She was attentive to every aspect, not only ordering the correct replacement frames but also informing me of their arrival. Well thank goodness I went in. Dr Hanmond got me back to see Austin Retina very quickly. I indeed had a small retinal tear and in fact a second tear that was in the far periphery that was subacute. That tear was only seen after my eyes were dilated and I was upside down in a chair and looking as far to one side as my eyes would go. Austin retina lasered them both at the same visit three days after seeing the optometrist. The two communicated instantly and I received a follow up contact from Dr Hanmond to make sure it went well. We talk about healthcare and healthcare systems, this is exactly the care you want to receive. Both of these organizations are private organizations and have incentives to excel beyond just being professionals. As I've mentioned in many reviews we are very fortunate to live in the city as it is a major attraction for high-quality healthcare providers. Again I highly recommend Lakeline vision and I would also recommend Austin Retina (As a funny aside my old practice called because I lost my credit card and one of the retina patients found it. I have been going to Lakeline for contacts for many, many years now. The location is so nice and open. It's always very, very clean inside and the staff there are exceptional!! I always see Dr. Slaughter, and have always had the best experiences with her! In fact, my whole family sees Dr. Slaughter! She's so sweet and very thorough with the exam. My prescription increased a fair amount this year at my annual exam and she gave me a trial pair of contacts with the new prescription before I put in an order for the year supply! I have been wearing contacts for about eight or so years now, and since coming here I have never gone anywhere else! Appointments also book up pretty fast, so I recommend booking early! read more

Staff was nice but when I didn't buy all the extras the vibe changed quickly. To many sales and pushing "up grading". I went in just to get my contact lens prescription renewed and told best to use a eye drop for dry eye even tho I'm not having a issue. Trying to sell me a amniotic fluid eye drop that they sale for 98$! Not FDA approved! The provider pulled 3 bottles out for me to buy. Then recommended a Laser gland treatment to remove excess oil. To the sweet cost of $1660.00! Next was "you need" the eye masks to use 3x daily. (Who has that time?) The masks were $20.00 which same on Amazon for less than $10. Pushing to get me to buy Years supply of contacts to get $150.00 rebate at the cost of $1300.00. Sam's Club with rebate came in at $800.00. Optimap for seeing the back of the retina instead of dilating the eyes. $45.00 not covered by insurance. Another up sale! They make you sign a liability waiver if you decline and do not offer dilating which most Ophthalmologists do. So you can do the math here and see my eye exam today could have cost me near $4000.00 if I had went for their car salesman approach to annual eye exam. Do your homework before going here and price check! I won't be returning and will see a qualified Ophthalmologist in the future that cares more about your eye health than upselling the latest products. read more

TOTALLY SHOCKED! Showed up 10 minutes early for my appointment and the place was jam crammed with people coming in and going out! Adults and young parents with children. (all wearing masks except some of the children) Clearly they were NOT following CDC protocols regarding social distancing and NOT spacing appointment times. I felt extremely uncomfortable and will NOT go back until they get in compliance with CDC guidelines or the Covid SARS 2 pandemic is over. Best eye care ever!!! No exaggeration: this place has changed my life! I couldn't recommend it more to anyone needing vision care & most especially anyone with kc. I have worn contacts most of my life. Having keratoconus (kc), it's been years of frustration trying to find the best fit + best vision. I was miserable and had so many issues -- until finding this oasis of eye care at Lakeline. I am so happy with the personal service, client commitment, and lovely kindness from everyone at Lakeline. They have the latest technology, the best doctors, and an awesome staff. In ONE visit I had better and more comprehensive eye care than I've experienced in YRS from my previous dr in Austin. Honestly, with kc and not receiving much hope or help from my (former) dr, I was at the point where I thought I'd just have to struggle with dry eyes, poor vision, and things like not driving much at night. Then I came to Lakeline and everything changed. After seeing Dr. Esmali, I now have the clearest vision I've had in years, maybe ever since kc, and my eyes feel so comfortable. I am forever grateful. To make it even better, this just took 2 visits. My sclerals fit perfectly right off thanks to Dr. Esmali's meticulous care, knowledge, and dedication to her patients. The actual eye appointment would be 5 stars. Their equipment is new and tech seems quite up to date. They were able to pinpoint my prescription well; my vision with new glasses is lovely now. The place itself is a newer building, with the inside open and modern. The staff is super friendly, and they love dropping compliments. While waiting for my new lens install after my appointment, the Doc happened to walk through the waiting area, and took an interest, making sure I had been helped and offering refreshments etc. Docking a star because.. They are difficult to reach by phone. I made my initial appointment online, afterwards tried to call on at least 3 different occasions to see if my bf can pick up my finished sunglasses for me, in place of myself. Never got a hold of them by phone. Also, they do not carry the brand I've stuck with for years, Burberry. I will definitely be headed here next year & would recommend. read more

I am not an easy patient, I have severe dry eye along with not being able to see hardly anything up close as well and my lasik procedure has changed the shape of my cornea! I am so impressed how Lakeline Vision is so advanced with all of their state of the art equipment making sure I am receiving the very best exams when I go there. Disappointing visit. Had set up for our family of four to visit two doctors (a parent with each child) so we could have back to back appointments in one trip. Had confirmation in writing that is what was scheduled. Only to show up with to a 4:30 appt, two 4:50 appt and a 5:10 appt; one would think this possible if I wanted to get in as quick as possible we would be spaced out but that was not the case. I was willing to schedule weeks out in order to get back to back appointments, not a 40 minute gap. This was clear when I scheduled, confirmed verbally and in writing. They have great eye techs, knowledgeable doctors, but the front office staff could care less. We will go elsewhere in the future for eye exams and glasses for our family. Also, we opted to not do the up charge for the retinal scan although they make you feel it is a must. We signed to waiver to forgo and will get it every other year. read more

Not being one who likes change, I tolerated it, but kept wanting to find somewhere better. Well, after my first visit to Lakeline Vision Source this past week...I will definitely be back and have no complaints! Dr. Esmaili not only completed my visit, but took the time to explain the exam to me and educate me. I didn't feel like just another patient. It is so hard to find a good doctor, so when you find one, you stick with them. I moved to Austin in 2011 and started seeing Dr. Dipa Kodukula from the beginning. She used to be at a Target and my husband was her patient there, but when she moved to Lakeline, he followed her. That is a sure sign of a good doctor! She was very close to us, but is much further now and we totally don't mind the drive because, hey, it's Dr. K! I went for my yearly eye exam this past Monday at the new location on El Salido. First, let me say that the new location is so amazing! There is a Starbucks coffee machine (caff and decaf - yes!) as well various creamers and teas for your enjoyment. The waiting area is cozy and filled with lots of reading material to keep you occupied not to mention a lovely aquarium filled with beautiful fish! Shortly after I got there, Dr. K's assistant, Manuel (Manny) called me back and started my eye tests. This guy is super friendly and super fast! I want him to do my tests always. I appreciate his efficiency and pleasant demeanor. Manny, you're the bomb! :-) Dr. K was pleasant as usual! She is so sweet, kind, compassionate, friendly, and warm - qualities that can often be missing from a doctor. She was very thorough as she examined my eyes and their health and listened to my questions patiently. Everything was explained without using terms that were above my head. I have some significant eye concerns and she was great with cautioning me without scaring me. Dr. K, you're the best optometrist! After we were done, I went to see Marcus, the optician, to choose my glasses. Marcus was great! As he picked out frames for me and I shared my preferences with him, we were able to quickly narrow it down to a great pair of frames that I am pretty excited about! He's a pretty cool guy and made the experience great without being overwhelmed at all of the possible choices as there are SO many great frames to choose from! He was familiar with my benefits coverage immediately and helped me figure out the best lenses for my eyes. As he processed my payment, he explained to me where to look for costs on the receipt that he gave me so that I would understand exactly what I was paying for. Marcus, you rock! Now - my appointment was on Monday, and today, Wednesday, I received an email saying that my glasses were ready to be picked up! Pow! Lakeline Vision knocked it out the park all the way around.
