It is so hard to find a good doctor, so when you find one, you stick with them. I moved to Austin in 2011 and started seeing Dr. Dipa Kodukula from the beginning. She used to be at a Target and my husband was her patient there, but when she moved to Lakeline, he followed her. That is a sure sign of a good doctor! She was very close to us, but is much further now and we totally don't mind the drive because, hey, it's Dr. K! I went for my yearly eye exam this past Monday at the new location on El Salido. First, let me say that the new location is so amazing! There is a Starbucks coffee machine (caff and decaf - yes!) as well various creamers and teas for your enjoyment. The waiting area is cozy and filled with lots of reading material to keep you occupied not to mention a lovely aquarium filled with beautiful fish! Shortly after I got there, Dr. K's assistant, Manuel (Manny) called me back and started my eye tests. This guy is super friendly and super fast! I want him to do my tests always. I appreciate his efficiency and pleasant demeanor. Manny, you're the bomb! :-) Dr. K was pleasant as usual! She is so sweet, kind, compassionate, friendly, and warm - qualities that can often be missing from a doctor. She was very thorough as she examined my eyes and their health and listened to my questions patiently. Everything was explained without using terms that were above my head. I have some significant eye concerns and she was great with cautioning me without scaring me. Dr. K, you're the best optometrist! After we were done, I went to see Marcus, the optician, to choose my glasses. Marcus was great! As he picked out frames for me and I shared my preferences with him, we were able to quickly narrow it down to a great pair of frames that I am pretty excited about! He's a pretty cool guy and made the experience great without being overwhelmed at all of the possible choices as there are SO many great frames to choose from! He was familiar with my benefits coverage immediately and helped me figure out the best lenses for my eyes. As he processed my payment, he explained to me where to look for costs on the receipt that he gave me so that I would understand exactly what I was paying for. Marcus, you rock! Now - my appointment was on Monday, and today, Wednesday, I received an email saying that my glasses were ready to be picked up! Pow! Lakeline Vision knocked it out the park all the way around. Manny, Dr. K, and Marcus are like my Super Trio. Although I am sure that everyone there is great, I would not have wanted to work with anyone else on Monday. Lakeline is the BEST! Receptionist has forgotten I'm on hold twice now and left me on hold for 25 minutes I had to hang up and call again. Awful

I ordered a pair of glasses from here two weeks ago and haven't received any feedback since. I called them to ask for the status on my glasses. They replied by telling me they had been picked up already and not by me. Very unprofessional that there's no system in place to verify its the actually the customer picking up the glasses. Eventually they did send the glasses directly to my home but I still feel this shouldn't go unoticed. read more

Had to go to the store 4 times because they wrote down the wrong prescription for my glasses. Never said sorry and overall just a bad experience. Been going there since 2000. For a 16 year customer they lost my business. Make it 6 times that I am having to go back. They sent an automated text that my glasses were ready and to come pick them up. Nope... They were not ready and I was told it must be an error in our system??? At this point it's laughable and I'm beyond frustrated. Been there twice, once for my daughter and another time for my wife. Pleasant experience both times. Dr Shauger and Dr Slaughter were very friendly and accommodating. They also have top notch equipment that makes the eye exam so much easier to handle. We were also provided with the option of picking frames/lenses from their store. Decent amount of selection, but more importantly no pressure to purchase from them. I've been at places, where the staff try and bully you into buying frames from the same store...none of that here!! I've been a patient at Lakeline Vision Source for about 4 years. I have an auto-immune disease that Dr. K was immediately familiar with and she knew exactly how to help me and treat my eyes. This is rare people. VERY rare. I'm usually the one educating Doctors about my disease. I fell in love with her instantly. She's caring, friendly and professional. On a couple of occasions when she wasn't available, I had to see 2 other doctors. They were both just as professional and caring. Dr. K has gone over the top to ensure I was happy and had glasses that worked for me. Anytime I've had any issue with a script, they fix it for free! No questions asked. Their service is impeccable. They have all the latest in every bit of technology. It makes a HUGE difference if you were progressive or bi-focal lenses. The best I've found anywhere and yes, I've tried several different sources. Their frames are gorgeous but if you can't afford them, you can still bring in your own frames and they'll put in the lenses. I was shocked! Amazing service. I've been going here for years, when were used to be at their old location on Lake Creek. This place is amazing, it's got everything, the amount of parking, the ease of booking appointments, the friendly staff, the number of exam rooms, the high tech equipment. They aren't even overpriced or anything as one would think with such a nice facility. There are plenty of amazing doctors here. I've been with Dr. Poole for some years but now that she has left the practice. I'm with Dr. Shauger and she's amazing. She's one of those doctors that remembers what you talked about a year ago. My entire family goes here and she always remembers my parents. I really appreciate the efforts she takes as a doctor and as a person to take real interest in you. The facility is amazing, they took a lot of pride building this new office. The bathrooms are super nice too, it's strange, but the owner designed it all her self so it's very pretty for a doctors office bathroom. The contact area is huge! There is never a wait from when I arrive and when I'm seen. I love going here. I would recommend this place to everyone! read more

I can't speak more highly of this place. I'll tell you my story. I went for my yearly exam with Dr. Shauger as I have done for the past two years. This time I decided to would get some new glasses as well as contacts. The gentleman who helped me, Marcus, was fantastic. I've gotten tons of compliments on my new specs. Now, here's the part where they deserve the five stars. I also gave them my Michael Kors sunglasses for them to put prescription lenses in. I checked back a couple of times and found that my glasses were sent to the wrong place and lost. They handled this situation like pros. Marcus looked up the value of my sunglasses and gave me top dollar for what they were selling for ($350). I found some $500 Roberto Cavalli's that I fell in love with. I was happy to pay the difference, Marcus surprised me. He sold them to me for HALF the difference! So I walked away having paid $65 for the most amazing sunglasses I will probably ever own. read more

I walked in as a new patient about 5-7 mins late and they still took me without saying anything about my tardiness. I had to get my hubby to drive me last minute due to my inability to drive. I was immediately greeted by a sweet young lady. She checked me in in seconds! Saw they have complimentary Starbucks!! Wow!! Husband was happy because of that. The waiting areas are very nice and comfortable. Didn't wait long at all. Doctor was very punctual and attentive. The entire staff is happy and caring. I was in and out within the hour. When I went to get lenses for a frame I bought, I was offered ONLY 1 option by the sales person at $650 for nothing unusual... As I was about to walk out, SUDDENLY there were other options at 1/3rd the price. Because options were not offered up front (withholding information), I can only conclude that $650 is a priority because they make more profit on it. Weird how this place has the check in process figured out when so many other medical offices don't. No clipboard with 20 pages asking for similar info that no one ever reads or (I'm guessing) enters into the system. I loved that this was just a sign in/check in and get sent directly to the Starbucks coffee bar - they even have a Starbucks sign up! Just to get it out there, Lakeline Vision Source is on the pricier end, even with vision insurance. However, the quality of service and professionalism is outstanding. I felt well taken care of during my visits and will definitely come back again. I also wanted to give a huge shout-out to Tae. I've worked in the service industry for years, and Tae is one of the best I've ever had the pleasure of working with. I have a pretty narrow nose bridge and am pretty picky about how my glasses fit my face. Tae always took the time needed to work on my glasses, was patient, empathetic, and was always happy to see me despite multiple visits to make adjustments on my glasses. He understood my concerns and really went the extra mile to make sure that I was happy with my glasses. I had good a visit with my Dr but their optical tech. lady was ok. I've been to other vision offices before that had sample lenses. You knew what kind of lenses you were purchasing. Those offices had displays of transition lenses with multiple colors and other visuals of lenses. The older woman that helped me said the office does not have sample lenses. Their lenses are made to order. She didn't provide any visuals only a quote over $400 for lenses alone, no frames. Ludicrous for me to purchase anything of that amount without seeing something. I've never paid over $400 for something I can't see beforehand. I've paid almost that but price included a pair of frames and lenses. She was not helpful. read more

Excellent customer service! My day began with broken glasses. I immediately thought of Lakeline Vision Source, because I drive by them almost every day. I was greeted as soon as I walked in the door. I explained the reason for my visit and was assisted by an optician within two minutes. Marcus was extremely professional and though they do not carry the brand I was wearing, he looked through their spare parts until he found a pair of temple pieces that fit perfectly. Well when I walked in, I liked the decor and layout - very open. Barring a minor annoyance, my impression with the place is very good. The people at the reception were pleasant. They asked me to sign in a sheet to check in and that "someone would call me". 10 mins later, no call but I see people checking in at the reception desk. I had to go back and remind them to check me in and that I had already signed in their "sign in" sheet. After that it was very quick and well organized. The technician was quite efficient at collecting the necessary information for the doctor (Dr. Kodukula). Dr. Kodukula was very pleasant and was knowledgeable about my eye condition. My husband and I have gone to Lakeline for the past 8 years or so. Their new facility is amazing. The staff is caring and obviously proud of their work. I like how they incorporate teaching into the practice. The intern mentioned that their equipment is the best equipment if their rotation locations! I enjoyed the large open setting, and the glass windows all around the building. I had an enjoyable experience from the receptionist to the tech (Kendra?). Doctor Thom? And his intern were pleasant as well. The new location and hardware was impressive and of course, clean. Scherrie helped me chose my frames and learned my style quickly. She found me plenty of options and offered advice, all while being patient so I could find the perfect pair. The free Starbucks coffee at the end of my visit was the cherry on top! Update (I wish I could do 3.5): Less than 24 hours after writing a bad Facebook review I received a call from a manager. She apologized and said I would be refunded the cost of the glasses, which I really appreciated. However, I do find it sad that it took a bad review for something to finally be done and for me to get an answer. It was also frustrating to learn that the problem was the lab losing or overlooking my order, which could have been fixed with my initial call. Plus, it was then almost another full week before my glasses came in, a total wait of 4.5 weeks. My advice would be to proceed with caution. read more
