My family has been visiting this office for about 5 years now. I only have good things to say about Parmer Eye Care and would hands down recommend this office to everyone I know. Here's the scoop: -They actually go by the appointment time you make. One of the most frustrating things about going to doctors is you having to make an appointment and then waiting forever to see the doctor. Not here though! I've always been called back at my appointment time and I so appreciate that! -Lots of state of the art equipment to give you the best care possible. I've been wearing glasses since I was 7. I know it's something I have to monitor regularly to prevent/maintain ongoing issues. I appreciate that they have modern eye scans to monitor my eye health in a very easy, non-invasive way. -Everyone is so nice. The front desk, the techs, and the doctors, everyone has always been helpful, explains everything throughly, and is never pushy about anything. Yay for great customer service. I saw Dr. Sharma and she gave me prescriptions for 2 glasses. I purchased my glasses (not from Parmer Eye Care). When I picked up those 2 glasses - 1 of them (Computer glasses) has problem on the left lens - very blurry - I can't read/see anything. So, I came back to Parmer Eye Care to talk/check the prescription and found out they gave me the wrong prescription for my computer glasses. However, they did NOT apologize for their mistake & did NOT want to be responsible financially for their mistake. After reading many reviews, I decided to try Parmer Eye Care, hoping for a smooth experience. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. My first appointment was an eye exam at the end of September. I have been wearing contacts for 15 years so I am no stranger to this process and what it typically looks like. This exam was weird. That is all I can describe it as. None of the normal routines took place and when I asked questions, I was made to feel dumb. When I declined dilation (since I had to drive afterward), I was told bluntly, "You NEED to have your eyes dilated". I have a high prescription so I told them what contact brand I used and what worked best for my eyes, as I have been faithful to that brand for the full 15 years I have been wearing contacts. They told me I was ridiculous for accepting that kind of service and promised that they could find contacts that fit my eyes even better, so I trusted them. It took 3 weeks to receive the first pair of trail contacts, as I was not allowed to pick them up unless I made an appointment. Their appointments are not easy to schedule at all. I chose this place because they are open until 5. Unfortunately, they seem to shut down most services around 4, including appointments and answering phone calls/texts. At the contact fitting appointment, I tried the contacts on and they were terrible. I couldn't see at all and they were painful. Instead of telling me to take them out, the doctor kept poking my eyes and pushing me to leave them in to the point where I ended up being sent home with an additional pair and driving with them in my eyes. However, I was hopeful because they told me they would order my original contact brand for me instead. Fast forward another 3 weeks and I had not heard anything from them at all. Repeated phone calls over multiple days consistently went straight to voicemail. Texts went unanswered. I went back to Google and I looked at reviews, puzzled with how this happened. I noticed more negative reviews than the first time I looked. I also noticed that under some negative responses there was a website and phone number for "further help." I was desperate to get ahold of someone so I tried these outlets only to find the website link leads to a "page not found" error, and the phone number is just the main line that rarely gets answered. At this point, I was extremely worried about my eyes. I had been wearing my last pair of contacts, which is why I made the appointment in the first place. By now I had been wearing them for over a month, which is way longer than they are supposed to be worn. So I ended up resorting to wearing my glasses because I was afraid of damaging my eyes. This was all very ironic because at my appointments I was repeatedly shamed for over-wearing my contacts. To understand how frustrating this was, in the 15 years I have worn contacts I have almost never worn my glasses in public due to my high prescription. They have very thick lenses that are good for home but not for going out of the house and trying to drive/work/etc. Today is November 7th and I still have not received my new TRIAL pair of contacts. At one point throughout all of this, I asked for my prescription to be sent to me. They told me my prescription would be sent through the patient portal, but it never was. The manager did finally call me back last week and gave me a paper copy of my prescription but was not very apologetic or warm about it. For comparison, I've gone to Walmart Vision Centers for the past ten years and consistently received better and faster service, including ordering contacts the same day as my exam and having them shipped to my house within a week. I took my prescription straight to Walmart last week and I already have a years supply of contacts that were delivered to my doorstep. I truly hope Parmer Eye Care improves their responsiveness and customer care in the future, because patients deserve better. read more

I recently visited this place because I needed some contacts and didn't want to wait to see my usual optometrist. I had such a mixed experience at this place. The optometrist (Dr. Yesha Sharma) was nice and helpful during the appointment, and I appreciated her thoroughness. However, she mentioned she would send me referrals, which I never received. The main issue was with the front desk admin and billing. She got very flustered when I asked why was I being charged differently because I've been seeing another optometrist for the last 4 years and was never charged as much as this place. As a regular patient, I'm not familiar with optometry codes and instead of addressing my concerns, she kept calculating math for me. She literally wrote out the math of what the total was with a 15% discount. That obviously wasn't the issue because I'm familiar with my insurance discount coverage at 15%... and I know what's 15% off of the total. I just wanted to know why was I being overcharged compared to my previous clinic. The worst part was that there was another admin sitting there who overheard everything and didn't even bother to help. I think she was also afraid of getting yelled at by admin who couldn't explain why I was being over charged. However, when I went back to pick up my prescription and contacts, it was like a whole new front desk admin team. She was amazing and immediately helped me with everything that I needed. Overall, the service was okay, but my first poor encounter with front desk left me frustrated. read more

Avoid this practice. We were patients of Parmer Eye/Dr Lemanski for almost 30 years but have decided to move on. We really liked the level and value of service, but it's deteriorated in the last few years. Between the confused, disorganized front office, increasing prices and ever present "upsell" on services and Rx's, there's nothing special about this practice, so we're done here. Most of the Parmer Eye Care front office staff are pleasant, but the person who seems to manage the front desk and billing is argumentative. The day after the appointment, we call the office and she argued with us because we didn't fill out paperwork that SHE FORGOT to give us. The "eye exam" for $109 (cash price) includes a hello and a receipt. Everything else is a la carte and HIGHLY recommended for you, of course. Our itemized bill was $306. The "contact lens fit" ($87) - the need for which is suspect, since we already wear contacts - was supposed to include two weeks of daily temp lenses. Oops - they forgot to give us those. We requested an Rx's for eyeglasses and for contacts. Oops - they gave us Rx's for regular and computer glasses, but no contact lens Rx. Probably hoping to sell two pairs of overpriced glasses. BTW, contact lenses are significantly cheaper at Sams. You're welcome. It's best to have a checklist for your appointment to remind the staff what they are supposed to provide you. Otherwise you spend the next day like we did - chasing down a list of things they forgot. But that's consistent with the customer-last attitude the office has developed in recent years. And yes, it feels more like your a customer here than a valued patient. read more

This is a great place to get your eyes examined and probably the worst place in town to order your glasses from. They have a great frame selection (lots of high end designers), but the lab is trash and really has no sense of urgency even when you spend $1300 (~$430 out of pocket) on exams and frames. The doctor is very thorough in her examinations, I feel like she cares about my vision. But everybody else and the lab they work with could not care less whether or not you have glasses. I went in on December 17, today is January 10 and I still don't have any glasses. I understand the Christmas holidays were in there, but I was told it would take two weeks for me to get my glasses, not a month. After you get your eyes checked, take that prescription and run out of that office. Their lab is awful. read more

The area seemed to have decent frame options with designated section for females, males and kids. Both the doctor and nurse were very professional and answered all my questions. I was being treated for chronic dry eye by Dr Lemanski. She wanted to identify if my meibomian glands were discharging any moisture. She used a clamp on my eye lid and squeezed it as hard as she could. She didn't use any numbing agent at all! I was extremely stressed by all the pain and she didn't let up. I pulled my body back because of the pain. I told her that the pain was worse than labor pain, and she replied that I must not remember my labor very well! I've never had such an unempathetic dr. I've never cried at a dr office, BUT I did that day. The front desk staff was more concerned than Lemanski was. I have found another doctor to treat my dry eye and she used numbing gel before squeezing on my eyelids. What a difference! Beware read more

Parmer Eye Care is great! Their staff is super friendly and helpful. They're the type to enjoy a good laugh and you can tell they love their job and their customers. I hadn't had prescribed glasses in over 10yrs and they found the perfect prescription for me. Best pair of lenses I've had yet. They were very knowledgeable about the different features of lenses to choose from and even got me in frames that I was told I would have a hard time wearing due to the different prescription strengths in the separate eyes. They have a good selection of frames and just added Gucci and Alexander McQueens to their catalogue. This place is a great option for all of your eye needs. 10/10 read more

Crazy pricing! We purchase the groupon for the comprehensive exam and has a $175 value toward a pair of glasses. After everything we still had to pay over $300 out of pocket for one pair of normal non designer pair of glasses!!!!! They wouldn't allow us to use our of glass frame that we brought in. Made us buy a new one and use their facility to do the lenses if we wanted to use the groupon. What's worst was when I called to make the appointment I asked them all this before hand. They said we can use our own frame and just use the $175 towards the lenses if we wanted. Horrible. Go here only if you want to be lied to and over pay. read more

Not a good customer experience. I was up-charged in the exam and did not care for Dr. Lemanski; she said I should have brought my glasses with me. I have had my eyes checked at Wal-Mart, Target, and other eye doctors and have never had them give me grief about bringing my glasses (what a nice welcome to the office). I could have told her she should be punctual and learn time management skills. After waiting 40 minutes to get an exam she told me it would take another 20 for a fitting? I told her no thanks, I had to get back to work. Nothing about this place is efficient. My wife went here and had a similar experience as me before going to Target and having a superior customer experience. Never again! read more

Parmer Eye Care no ethics I'm very disappointed in their approach to doing business and their marketing is very vague, misleading, and focused around the bait and switch concept. Even though I never visited this location, I highly recommend that you stay away and make sure that you read the fine line as they were always add more to what is advertised, and the amount added isvery significant. Had a great contact lens fitting with Dr Soong. She was very courteous, professional and knowledgeable about the questions I had. I've been coming here for a long time and there have been some negative or crazy reviews that I don't feel warranted. I have always had a great experience and the office staff is super friendly and cordial. Definitely recommend. On a final note, I see the best I have in years after Dr. Soong's fitting. read more

I have been going to Parmer Eye Care since they used to be off of Mopac and Parmer. I do agree with other feedback that they really should talk about the cost of certain procedures prior to doing them. However that being said I would rather do those procedures than have to have my eyes dilated. Went last week for my usual yearly check and had great service. read more

Pleasantly refreshing to receive friendly service! But even better when the doctor is superb with eye exam and fitting for contacts! She took her time with me on entire exam allowing me to redo reading part several times. I came in tired. I mention because I have had rushed eye exams giving me poor choices on glasses. Exposes kids to porn! Hate to be the party pooper but a mom of three sons weighing in here... has anyone noticed the inappropriate posters on the wall? They are like front and center, can't miss it, huge posters of a woman advertising guess sunglasses in her leopard underwear. They are proud of it and won't take it down without multiple requests and a bit of an argument. Sickening. Not appropriate for a dr office that serves children. "We have never had complaints before." This review is strictly based on a Groupon I recently used. While the office was great and staff was very friendly, the 3 stars is because this was one of your typical deceptive groupons- where the fine print isn't really in the fine print. The office knew I as coming in to use a groupon prior to my appointment, so when I went in and REITERATED that I was there to redeem it- one would think that they would only provide the service that the groupon would cover. However, it wasn't until AFTER my exam that the assistant gave me a sheet with information about one of the exams they just performed AND listed that it was an additional cost. I thought it was fishy that I was getting this after the exam- this should've been given to me prior, obviously. I was shocked to hear that I owed $30 while I was checking out. Bought a high end pair of frames, lenses and the like using a groupon deal. After about 3 months, the Oakley frames started chipping paint and one of the lenses cracked , as well. I was under the impression the lenses that I was up sold on were impossible to crack unless maybe you ran over them with a car. Which obviously they were not. Did I receive not what I bought or get scammed? Probably. Spoke to an unbelievably disrespectful employee named Tanya (the one who sounds like she smokes 2 packs a day) who led me to believe she had way better things to do than her job. After stating my opinion on how i should be respected as a repeat customer both times spending 500$ each time, she stated my frames and lenses would be replaced. 2 weeks later, nothing. No frames , no ideas about where the frames are located, anything, nor any kind of contact. I had to call them...When I did I spoke with a more polite woman named Wendy who I requested a refund from and she obliged. Went to pick up my refund, and was under the impression it would be rather quick. Waited around for about 10-15 minutes and had a nice young woman give me the refund check back, but with no receipt (???) went back in for a receipt and of course the numbers were off. This young woman could not explain the numbers, and went to the back again to middle-man an explanation from Tanya (worst employee ever). Again, she couldn't explain why I received a refund 73$ less than what I originally paid. They had no record of my groupon purchase, and said they could not refund doctor services which I absolutely understood. Still, the check was 73$ short of what came out of my pocket at time of purchase. They requested a screen shot of the groupon purchase , which is fine. But let's be real, they aren't giving me an eye exam without payment being fulfilled from the groupon first. I do not see the need to have to re-show them a groupon receipt twice, once prior to purchase, and then after returning the junk that I received. In the end my eye exam ended up costing 175$ plus the other 73$ I got stolen from me- so right around 250$ in total for an eye exam? What the hell? Please beware of this place, they do not take care of unhappy customers. Never, ever, ever again. read more

I had a BLAST at this office. The entire staff is energetic, welcoming and genuine. I enjoyed myself the entire time as the assistants joked with me and listened to my silliness. I felt so comfortable there and I almost didn't want to leave because I felt like we connected. I could see myself getting drinks with them all. That being said, they were very knowledgeable and professional so it was not off putting. They seem adaptable and can handle anyone. The doctor I saw was a step-in from Tyler, Tx. He was great, kind and thorough. He was patient with me when I would ask if he could go back and try the other lenses again because it was sometimes tricky for me to tell if there was a difference. He was also really good at explaining how to put on and take off contacts as it was my first time!!! He made me feel like a pro and gave me the information needed to feel like "I got this"! Though this was just my first time, I highly recommend it if this is the experience I will get each time. She just seemed to want me out of the room as soon as possible. If I asked a question she answered it as if I was stupid. Each prescription for lenses has been correct the first time. This has not always been the case with other optometrists. The frame selection is small and the front office staff was not helpful at all. We've come here two years in a row. The doctors are excellent---no complaint there. My daughter's pair of glasses from Parmer Eye Care the year before were fine. My issue is that the frames I got from Parmer Eye Care for my child's most recent pair of glasses become loose in the arms every few weeks and this place has turned into Parmer I Don't Care about it. I've taken them in to be adjusted several times. It seems they just expect me to keep on coming in regularly. I suggested the frames were faulty, expecting Parmer Eye Care to dutifully ensure that my child gets a useful pair of glasses that do not constantly slip off of her face, but I was given the runaround. "Well, we've never had problems with that brand before. That brand is usually good." (After they themselves have had to adjust the frame multiple times.) OK, that's nice, but the particular frame that I purchased is faulty. The right thing to do would be to take the glasses back and make my daughter another pair with a different frame at their cost. The last time I called to set up a meeting with the manager to see what could be done, no one ever called me back. I'm upset and disappointed. Glasses shouldn't need to constantly be adjusted. A ten-year-old child using glasses from this store is left with messed up frames. This is my daughter's vision we are talking about here. It's just unacceptable. I'm taking my business elsewhere. I had my daughter's eye exams and glasses - no complaints. So I decided to get tested my eyes as well. Being their glasses so expensive, I decided to buy glasses from somewhere else. When I got glasses, they were totally off and I can see even better than my new glasses on. I can read better with only +1 Costco glasses but not sure how come Parmer Eye Care prescribed for +3 !! I believe that the glasses are made as per prescription which means Parmer Eye Care did not test my eyes well. read more

Dr. Lemanski is wonderful! She thoroughly assessed my eyes to see if I truly needed to get LipiFlow treatment for my dry eyes. She asked me questions and also did an exam and determined that it wasn't something that I for sure needed at this time. I truly appreciated that she was upfront and honest with me and didn't suggest a treatment that wasn't totally necessary. She is the type of physician that I know I can trust and who always puts her patients first. And I feel completely comfortable in her office because her staff is always so friendly and cheerful. I had an insurance question and they called me back within 5 minutes to give me an answer. Was very disappointed with my visit after seeing so many positive reviews. I was brought in for a late Wednesday appointment. The office was extremely chaotic, about 4 ladies behind the front desk scrambling around each other. I was then asked to come into a room where no customer service was practiced. Door was left open, no explanation of what the eye tech would be doing, just had me complete about 3-4 tests and a "state of the art test" which I thought was standard as I hadn't been to an eye doctor in 5 years. Then I was escorted out of the room, shuffled back into the chaos, looked around at some glasses (lots of frames, which was good). Was then taking into another room, kept in the dark with the door closed for about 20 min. Doctor came in, super sweet, smart lady. That experience was positive. She then asked if I'd like to see the results of the state of the art test, but I honestly didn't really understand when she said this would be $30 (I thought this was included in the groupon) After we finished, she brought me to the front desk with a very rude employee who didn't answer my questions appropriately, seemed annoyed that I wanted to know how much I actually saved by purchasing this groupon, because after learning that $280 was the cost for LENSES ONLY (groupon was $62 for an eye exam and $200 towards glasses) id end up paying another $300+ for brand name glasses. Nightmare. Then I had to pay another $30 for the state of the art exam which I thought was just a standard practice. Not going back to buy my glasses. Feel like I would've spent less elsewhere and recieved better customer service. read more

Garin, Saying that your staff feared for there safety because someone asking for help and was upset about being ignore is an exaggeration and an insult. It was rude and unprofessional of your staff. So him bringing it to the attention of management was the appropriate response. I do not agree that it was aggressive in any way. In fact, your staff admitted at the time my "companion" complained that the person he was complaining about had had similar complaints. It was you elderly staff member that had the aggressive tone on our last visit. Nastily repeating my "companions" name. He actually stood there patiently waiting quietly as she refuse to help us. She finally had no excuse but to help us as we were the last people in the store. He simply explained that he was canceling his order and asked if she understood why? There was no aggression in the slightest, other than that of your staff. The new girl was nice but confused but like I said your "veteran" was the one that was nasty. The fear I think your staff had was having someone not be afraid to speak up when the service was poor. It's really been a horrendous experience and your comment is truly insulting and proof as to why we will not be back and will not recommend Parmer eye care to anyone. You say that you will not disclose details of your patients on Yelp but it seems like you can't help yourself. I've seen many comments that you have made on the site that are very in appropriate and disclose way too much information. You should be careful. read more

Dr. Kahn seemed very good. We liked her. The staff was nice; albeit somewhat lacking in professionalism. The space was what was wanting. It really distracted from the experience. The equipment was a bit shabby and the overall esthetic was a bit too homely for me. I realize some like that feel but I prefer a more polished vibe in a medical facility. Lastly, the tech doing my initial exam was a smoker so I had smoker hands about my face manipulating instruments...not a great smell. Conclusion: Great staff, lacking in professional esthetic. **Update: My wife went a few days after me and I let her go without priming her and she had a similar experience with an unkept office. For me it's all about researching & finding an eye care Doctor with the most updated advanced technology. Well I found it & was very impressed! The staff was completely professional, my results & charts were updated on the computer in front of me. The only time a pen is used is when Dr Khanh signed my prescription printout. This was one of the only eye care facility were you could login & input your information online resulting in no more filling out patient forms & turning them in. I had the Optoma Retinal Exam done, were a picture of your eyes are taken & displaced on a computer. Then Dr Khanh went over in detail each eye image discussing such items as status of eye veins, any possible diabetes or high blood pressure based upon what my eyes were showing. My insurance covered the entire exam minus the $39 for the Optoma Retinal exam which is well worth it. I'm planning on recommending Parmer Eye Care to all of my co-workers & friends. read more

I have been going to Parmer Eye Care since 2006 back when they were at Parmer & Mopac next to HEB. I have been very pleased with the service I get from them. Dr. Lemanski is good at the eye exams. The only complaint I have is that they are little pushy with Optomap. This is a picture they take of the back of your eye which is a substitute for dilation. Nobody likes dilation because it makes your vision blurry and sensitive to light for a few hours. So, Optomap is nice but it is not typically covered by insurance. When you go for an eye exam, they do take an Optomap and tell you that you have a choice and you can decline it when you speak to the doctor. When you are in a small room with the doctor who is telling you all the benefits of Optomap it seems a little pushy (because she is the authority figure there) even if it is not intended that way. I have both declined an optomap and used it in my yearly exam. However, I would prefer to be given a choice before I go in the exam room if I want it or not. Other than that the experience is pretty good. Staff is helpful. I have ordered buth contacts and eye glasses from them. No issues whatsoever. read more

My first experience with Parmer Eye Care was in 2014, it was a good one. Last year I made the mistake of going to another place, it was such a disappointment. Many things I didn't care for, worse part was how they couldn't get the glasses to fit correctly. When it was time for me to get a new pair I new I had to come back to Parmer Eye Care. I'm so glad I did. Great service, good people. Very helpful and easy to talk to. They have a great selection of glasses to choose from and are very helpful when you're not sure what looks good on you. The staff is eager to help and they are always attentive to your needs.
