Local Austin artists are represented abound! The gifts are quirky and showcase lots of uniquely Austin finds and provide a good laugh too! The staff are very friendly and helpful! Best boutique ever! They have so many unique items for home decor, apothecary, witty knickknacks, high end make up. I want it all but my bank account will disown me. I spent 1 hour and 30 min in here today. Took a couple of breaks outside to take off mask, breathe fresh air and head back in for more spending. Employees are so kind and cool. Lauren rocks. CAREFULLY wrapped my items for plane transport. Spent way too much. Too bad Ramen noodles don't have organic vegan option. I'm gonna have to eat cabbage soup for a week upon my return. : / read more

I don't normally write reviews on shops and boutiques but this nice little gem in downtown Austin was an impressive find. First of all, it was nice to be welcomed in from the Texan sun with water at the door... that was already nice of them. There's a plentiful selection of cute gift ideas all around the store, some Texan/Austin themed, and other nice little trinkets. There's also great selection of trendy clothes that don't break your budget AND are high quality, fresh, and unique. I rarely shop at boutiques because of the exorbitant prices but picked up a nice green top for just $35 that I get a lot of compliments on. Customer service was great too when I came here and they'll put stuff on hold for you. read more

I've been to this gift shop twice and enjoyed my shopping experience both times. I was trying to look for a baby onesie that said Austin on it as a souvenir for a friend. They had around 3 but all were $32 ($34 with tax). They weren't that special in appearance or fabric. My minus one star is for the prices. Their women's clothing is cute, young and trendy but most dresses or pants are over $100. The items that I found were affordable were the smaller Knick knack items like gift cards, candles, notebooks, soaps, lotion, keychains and ornaments. They had religious cathedral candles with various famous figures on it like Jonathan Vanness from Queer Eye. They also sold clothes, colorful soaps with labels on it like bridesmaid, face sprays, shampoo, socks with cute prints, oven mitts with funny sayings and whimsical gifts you'd find on places like UnCommon Goods. Overall, this is a great spot to look for an Austin-specific souvenir. They also had water for anyone to drink in the front of the store. read more

I loved this little boutique! I stumbled on it while on a girl's getaway in Austin and they had so many cute things! The card selection was great and I loved how unique and clever the cards were! I love this funky little botique! My friend and I found it while walking to see the bats at the South Congress bridge! It was very cute and had tiny knick-knacks that everyone would love! I admit, I feel as though it was more centralized towards women, but the place overall had really nice products! Although because it is a botique, the prices were a little high; some of the products I'm sure you could get somewhere else for cheaper. However, the majority of the products they had seemed worth the price they had listed based on the quality of the products. No reviews, really? This place is a decent go-to for gifts - for people that you like. Not just people that you're like "her hair's cute," but people you're like "that's my girl. She was there for me when the bomb dropped, for real." We all have those people, and they deserve lusciously-scented $16 candles in fancy tins they can reuse for earrings or organs. They had an OPI polish sale: 3 for $20, but at that point I was already shopped out from a neighboring sale. I can't believe I passed on their Spiderman color line. The best find: a clearance rack where everything on it was $25. Oh no they didn't. Though many of the items were size large, and one resembled the 60s frilliness only Ron Burgundy could admire, I will definitely be checking back in on this spot. One of the lousiest customer service I've encountered. I walk into the shop 5 minutes before closing - the welcome from the 5 early 20's "women" on idle lacked any kindness or happiness of my presence. As I found two items to try, I received "bitch face" looks from the girls - the last thing they wanted was my time taking up any more of theirs. I decided to purchase one of the items which only annoyed the girls and MOD. My departure from the store was no better... Take the opportunity to make a sale 5 minutes before closing or inform customers you are closed. Provide 100% customer service at all times. If unhappy with your retail job, find something else that will. I worked in retail many years and fully aware of how draining and hard work it takes but don't make your customers feel unwelcome because you're anxiety level has surpassed the norm to hit up the local bars to meet with your one night stand. read more

My experience with Luxe can be summarized easily: I have never worn something I purchased here and not received multiple compliments. I originally went because I got a gift card (which is good because this place can be pricey... hey, what did you expect from a clothing store across the street from the W?) but I've gone back because I love their selection and the staff is not only attentive but ACTUALLY STYLISH AND FASHION SAVVY. You might think that this would be a given at a boutique, but you would be wrong. Most of the stuff seems aimed at young adults, teenagers that like to dress as young adults and young professionals, but you can find a good gift here for basically any woman (and some for men, too) who doesn't hate things that are either pretty, cute, or both. I want to like it - it's a block away from my house, has high end salon products, fantastic candles, warm cookies and cute displays - BUT I can't. + Unfortunately, the employees know little to nothing about the products; if you ask a question or for a recommendation they kind of look around at one another and talk amongst themselves, then one will pipe up with some kind of wishy washy endorsement. In one case, I specifically stated I did not want a product with sulfates. The saleswoman immediately showed me a product that I knew to contain sulfates and assured me it did not contain any... third ingredient on the bottle: "sodium laurel sulfate." + If you don't like a product but didn't keep the receipt, good luck. Maybe sell it on eBay or give it to a friend? That's what I'll do with the $35 shampoo and $40 conditioner that was "highly recommended for my hair" with a promise of making it "smooth and silky" by a saleswoman. When they left my hair with a gunky film, they could not be returned because I did not have the original receipt. Additionally, when I took them back, I was told by a different employee (maybe manager?) that it was not a good recommendation for my hair and that those products are intended for people about 30 years older than me with coarse, grey hair... So your coworker recommended it explicitly, I took her recommendation. Exchange? Store credit? Nope. read more

A lot of people don't realize this, but there's a full hair salon in the back of this boutique! I've been seeing one of the stylists, Margaret, for several years and I won't let anyone else touch my hair. Not only is she incredibly cool and easy to talk to, but she does magic with hair. When I first started seeing her, my hair was practically dead...all split ends and heat damage. My hair is now healthier than it's ever been and is growing long and strong! She never fails to give her honest opinion on styling (good or bad, but always kind), which is so incredibly appreciated. I've been able to avoid many impulse hair decisions with her help! On the flip side though, when she gets excited about an idea I bring up, I can't help but get even more excited myself :) You will absolutely LOVE your experience with Margaret!! read more

This place is awesome. I have gone there more than a few times as it is right by my work and it is always a pleasurable experience. They usually have a good sale rack and the employees there are very attentive. They also have tons of hair products, nail polishes and trinkets that are local to Austin. Excellent customer service! I stopped by this boutique while traveling in Austin and I bought a dress. Unfortunately, when I got back to New York and unpacked my shopping bags, I realized that the security tag was still on the dress. Stupidly, I tried to remove it myself--since returning to the store wasn't an option--and of course the dress ripped. Accustomed as I am to poor customer service, I figured that they wouldn't replace it free of charge since I'd tried to take the tag off myself, or, worse, they'd assume that I stole it (I had tossed my shopping trip receipts already since I knew I wouldn't be back in Austin to return anything to the local boutiques). But I REALLY liked the dress, and since it wasn't too expensive, I decided I would suck it up and buy another one. Alas, I quickly learned that the Luxe Apothetique website didn't offer online purchases. I called the store directly to inquire if they still had the dress in my size and if they would mail it to me in New York as a special favor. After explaining the entire situation to the saleswoman, she was extremely apologetic and took full responsibility for their staff leaving on the security tag. The store set aside the dress in my size (this was right before a holiday weekend so they couldn't mail it immediately) and I had it the very next week. They also included a handwritten apology for the incovenience and a bag stuffed full of sample sized beauty products. All this for an out-of-town customer unlikely to be back in Austin anytime soon--the desire for repeat business was certainly not their motive here. They never even asked me to show my receipt--I just mailed the damaged dress back to them after receiving the new one, and they took me at my word that I had purchased the dress legally. The lengths to which this store went to make up for a relatively common oversight (forgetting to remove security tags) really impressed me. The lady working tonight totally could've kicked us out for strolling in around closing time, but she didn't. My sister and I did our usual smell the scented candles and look at all the hundred different shades of nail polish for a good 20mins. We finally decided to buy the opi 3 for $20 nail polishes and we left 30mins past closing time. The girl ran out after my sister waving a credit card ....that my sister had left!! What a lifesaver ...great service, cute store, great location and awesome staff. They really have everything a girl could ever want - they have it all. And wine. Their dresses are a little on the pricey side, but then again, a lot of their dresses are unique and bring a little something extra to the table. Some dresses seemed a little more suited for busty girls, some were great for smaller ladies, it varied. You just have to try a few on to see for yourself. This store has such cute products and clothes but I unfortunately have no desire to give them my business. My mom and some relatives were in town and we decided to stop in the store while we waited for our dinner reservation on a Friday evening around 5:30 because it looked so cute. We were looking to buy some items but decided against because the staff was so rude. First, they were having a sidewalk sale, but some of the clothing wasn't marked off. I went in to ask what the discount was and the staff member spoke to me like I was an idiot and acted like I was inconveniencing her. We continued to look around and noticed signs that said "Please think before you unfold me" on the one table of folded shirts. I found this incredibly rude and unfriendly. I've never seen something like that before in a store. Then I noticed the other staff - two of the four were on their cellphones, and the other was just standing there looking miserable. Not one asked any of us if we needed help finding anything or what I was looking for. We decided to leave without purchasing the items we liked. I'm not going to spend my money at a store that's employees treat me like an idiot and inconvenience, especially when you can go up the street to SOCO were the employees are welcoming, more than happy to help and the stores have similar items and style. read more

I love the atmosphere and the music in this store, and love to bring my children in because they love the gifts section and the free cookies, but my past few visits haven't been so great. There is this one more heavyweight lady with blonde hair that is very wishy washy, one day she may be very chipper and nice, and the next maybe not so much. I understand sometimes you have a rough day, but I don't feel like you should take it out on your customers in a business environment. She always seems very irritable and snappy, and throughout my visit there I could hear her complaining about other people and customers. I am not the one to complain a lot about customer service, because I am very easy to please, but I hate feeling uncomfortable and unwanted at a store, and this has happened numerous times. read more
