I came here twice to peruse their spring/summer selection. This is a women's fashion boutique chain (with many locations!) that sells a variety of brands of clothes. This shop is located in the fashion area of 2n St. District. The clothes in here are trendy and cute but are definitely expensive considering the casualness of the fabrics and styles. It was $110-190 for the average dress. Brands here include Free People, French Connection and For Love and Lemons (dresses in the $300 range). They sell swimwear as well for $60-$200. This is definitely an okay option for those who want a unique article of clothing that few may have but you have to be willing to spend potentially more than what the item's worth. My daughter and I wandered into Hemline just before closing and were pleasantly surprised by the caliber of the amazing young lady who welcome us in, as well as many cute finds. She was quick to help us, offer a room to try on clothes and make friendly (but not pushy) suggestions. I found some cute blouses and a necklace and my daughter found a creative tshirt, pretty face masks and a necklace. There were also some cute dressy outfits, but given COVID, my daughter didn't get any because Rush is a big question mark this year. Some of their more expensive stuff is at the front of the store, but if you look around, there is plenty to see in the $40-60 range - it's definitely a mix of options. We will definitely combine a visit to Hemline with our usual Urban Outfitters run! read more

This shop on 2nd avenue is always a treat. It began in New Orleans and post-Katrina when key employees left the state, the owner encouraged new Hemline seedlings to be born. Each market interpreted the store for its clientele and city vibe hence this Hemline is distinctly Austin. I think the curation is really nice and the styles work for a wide variety of ages and lifestyles. Although more on the casual and dressy casual end, I have found work dresses and pieces there too. The staff is friendly. One review mentioned high pricing; that is not my experience. I think their pricing is in a Bridge category. I bought some faux crocodile booties this fall --full leather soles for under $240. I think many places would charge $400-500 for similar styles. I've been shopping here for a few years now and as styles have changed, I love that Hemline is always ahead of the game in getting new brands and styles. They do a great job of getting in trendy clothes at inexpensive prices but if I'm looking to spend more for a special event like weddings or even just something I'll wear all the time, I know I'll have options. The best part of Hemline is that they have sales staff that are helpful when I want them but when I just want to wander around and browse, they let me do my own thing. I had no idea there were so many cute clothing options at Hemline. It was somehow implanted in my mind that only Sorority gals shopped in this boutique. I thought I'd never find anything without a Longhorn logo or a skirt that was longer than 4". It was when I entered that I almost left as several young women were there wearing their Chi O tees and 2" shorts perusing the goodies. Well, these cute sorority ladies know a good deal or two. Really like this store. I've had no issue with customer service like some of the other reviewers. It was moderately busy when I went in, so I wasn't swarmed by employees but I was helped out when I needed it. They have some really gorgeous pieces, most of which are out of my price range unfortunately. However, they had a small selection of sale items and I found a wonderful romper for a wedding I was attending. It was very marked down too, got it for like $30. If I ever need another event outfit, I will definitely be checking here! read more

I was in this store this morning. The customer service is horrible. The 2 employees stood behind the desk gossiping. I could hear their whole conversation. I was in the store at least 10 minutes. OMG! I couldn't help but laugh at the TOP review. Stating how welcoming this business is. That's beyond a joke! Nobody greeted me today as I walked into the store. The 2 staff members literally just looked at me, then back to their work. WOW I took that as insult and walked right out the door. It takes 2 seconds to acknowledge someone and greet them. Take 15 seconds to make a first impression, and will take you a life time trying to repair that first impression. Yeah, first impressions. I visited this store on a trip and fell in love. I live in South Carolina and many of the items in the store I cannot find near my home. The staff is so incredible that I get notifications when they stock items that I like. I have purchased many items this way and they are immediately shipped to me. I love this store and the excellent xstaff!!! My daughter gets so excited when she see a box from Hemline...but so do I! I wish I lived closer but these gals make me feel like I do! LOVE! read more

Whatever you do, DO NOT BUY THE JEWELRY AT HEMLINE. You will pay 2-3x the cost compared to other local stores, and the quality is absolutely terrible. My ring was almost $100 and completely broke after 2 days, and they wouldn't refund the cost or replace the ring. Seriously - a total joke. read more

I can't believe Hemline Austin didn't have a yelp page yet... so I had to be the first to write about these lovely ladies and my very favorite shop in the 2nd street district! It is always my destination when I shop downtown because of how welcomed I feel when I walk in (oh and of course all of the fabulous high-end clothing!) There are other shops on the street, that shall remain nameless, who carry basically the same brands -- like gypsy, hudson, free people -- but it's rare when I walk in to them because I know that I will inevitably be ignored by the sales girls. It almost feels like it's a prerequisite for the sales associates/managers/owners at other stores to be rude.. not at Hemline!! Every time I try on clothes there I feel like I'm just shopping with a bunch of girlfriends. All the gals have sweet things to say and are excited to tell you about their new products etc etc. Ladies, don't waste your time with other shops... I want as many people to know about Hemline as possible so that this place sticks around!! And I want everyone to see that it really is an oasis among a desert of negativity. Truly a refreshing place to go! and of course, if you like that boho-chic look, you won't be able to pass up their merchandise. I can never walk out empty-handed, even if I was just stopping in to "window shop." PS. They have expensive clothing, but very inexpensive jewelry... I live in Austin and frequently shop downtown. There are a few "go to" places that I can always count on to have excellent service and stunning clothes. The best thing about Hemline is the staff. They will let you know what looks good on you and what doesn't! They are all about style and customer service. I can't remember the manager's name who helped me but she picked out clothes that I would never have picked for myself and they looked awesome!! Go Hemline!!
