I have shopped at this store for many years and have always found them to be helpful and creative. I recently needed an outfit to visit my friends in Houston for an anniversary dinner at an upscale restaurant. Oneida helped me put together an outfit and purse in which I felt very comfortable. At dinner I was approached by the head waiter who told me that I looked fabulous, my outfit was cutting edge. Later the manager (Spanish, beautifully dressed) echoed the compliment. They inquired where I had acquired this "look" and I told them about a fabulous boutique in Austin. He said "ah, Austin" and smiled. This made me feel special as a 72 year old woman. read more

Good selection of interesting clothing and jewelry that's Austin appropriate for women 35 years+. Mostly lose fitting and lots of cottons and linens. Bold colors, statement jewelry made of everything from rubber bands to bits of straw and more. High energy and very pleasant service, too. Prices are a bit high... basic (but well designed) blouses for approximately $250 and more, for example. Long and soft summer scarves for $58, when there's a better selection of the same at Nordstrom for $34. Iris Apfel would love the jewelry, and heaven knows I adore Iris's look. Very chic, interesting and wearable clothing and jewelry. Wear Art Thou carries a wide range of styles, from elegant exotic, to wardrobe staples like crisp white oversized blouses in good flattering shapes. You will always find something perfect there, made with great fabric and cool buttons. I love some of the more elegant geometric shirts and jackets, with crunched or folded fabric that would fit every body type. She also carries many classic pieces, that often have an artsy-interesting twist. The boutique is busy and they seem to get new things in all the time. Living in Chicago, I have access to many high end designer stores/boutiques as well as unique and very different clothing stores. When my husband and I took a recent trip to Austin, a friend had recommended coming here. OMG!!! This boutique BLOWS AWAY any clothing store I have ever been to. The clothes border on pieces of art. These pieces will last a lifetime. They are unique so you won't have to worry about others wearing the same clothes. The clothes are completely classy and timeless. Very different, unique and very cool!!! Have Betty and/or Joan assist you! They will answer honestly and respectfully in terms of recommendations. Service is great without the usual pressure. The store is owned by an extremely awesome jewelry designer named "The Red Headed Goddess" who also sells her jewelry and other unique accessories at the store as well. The line of accessories is also unlike anything I have ever seen and I've traveled worldwide. Check out the "Porto" line of goodies. Outstanding line of pants and tops that can go threw world war three unscathed. Sign up for their emailing list for special events. I can not recommend this store highly enough. This is the type of store that revives the shopping experience for women. Upscale but not pretentious. Fun. You will walk out so excited to wear your new threads (and jewelry/accessories). Fabulous Store!!!! Lots of items to pick from. Something for everyone. Runs the gammut in sizes and styles. Distinctive pieces that you don't see on everyone else around town. Interesting originals and art pieces around as well. Phenomenal jewelry!!! The owner is an artist and her pieces are amazing. Love how they take care of you. I'm a lazy shopper. Natural fabrics abound such as cotton, linen, flax, & blends. Took about 7 items into dressing room to try on and bought 1 which was pricey at 300., but a dark blue linen blouse with mandarin collar is difficult to find anywhere on the planet. Service from both attendants was excellent as they let me shop at my leisure and understood when I declined the various options they recommended (I know what works with my body type). Most clothing style was unique and I truly enjoyed browsing the possibilities. Clothing a bit overpriced, but for unique styles/designs understandable. After only one visit, I'm hooked. Joan helped me choose a skirt and jacket which are well-made and fit right. She also made suggestions for styling them, which I found especially helpful because I can wear them on so many different occasions. There was no pressure, nor did I feel rushed. The shop is small and there were 4 or 5 other women in there trying on clothes, but the atmosphere was calm & relaxing. I visited Austin for the first time last week. I ate amazing BBQ, saw the bats, downtown, 6th street, all the parks, Congress street, rural areas, and more...But the most fun I had (yes, I love to shop) was at Wear Art Thou. What a great store! I was in Austin from California and had to come to this fabulous store. They have fashion that you can't find or buy in department stores or even on-line. Their clothing is both artful and functional. Every item is of high quality, in many different sizes, all in nice, natural fabrics. They also have fabulous jewelry and accessories. Shopping for clothes can be hard enough with a size Medium ranging from fitting a size 4 to a size 16 - depending on the designer --without a cranky saleslady adding to the mix.
