I have been going to a Target optical for the last several years, recently moved to Pflugerville and went to this Target optical to get my eyes checked. I am not impressed. My bifocal prescription is wrong and I've been having to wear my old glasses until I can use my insurance benefits again. Also, I had my glasses made at the Optical center in Target and had to have them fixed 2 times. My husband also went to this clinic for new contacts and glasses. This was a difficult process where my personal frames went missing, presumably at the lab. I brought them in for new lenses & what was to be 2 weeks turned into 2 months. BUT, there could not have been more effort made to make things right by the staff & manager & it all worked out in the end. They provided me new glasses at no additional cost since I needed to see lol & they kept in touch with me on every step made in getting my glasses to me. It's sad how much people attack each other when things go wrong.. the manager voiced appreciation for my not lashing out. It wasn't his fault, why would I; why should anyone. We saw a 50% off best lenses w/any frame purchase and w/great yelp reviews, we knew this was the place to try. Well fellow yelpers, you were right. We went before our appt w/Dr. Kelly Phan. She is located next door to Target Optical. Jennifer at Target helped us w/insurance vs the sale going on. Behold....Target was cheaper than our insurance. We came back with vision Rx's after doctor appt. Since Jennifer was getting ready to leave for the day, Aaron gladly stepped in to help us. He was just as informed and friendly as Jennifer. I don't remember the optometrists name, but I didn't like the doctor. I didn't think she was very thorough. She took the prescription off of my old glasses and set her apparatus to the prescription from my glasses and had me read the lines from my old prescription and didn't do much to check my eyes. The prescription was the same as my old prescription, which was not right. I felt like she was bothered by me being there. I won't go back again. I can see ok, but I can't see perfectly. I've been going to Dr.Phan for the past 4+ years or so. She's very nice and professional. The eye exam doesn't take long at all in my experience. I also didn't have any problems with my insurance provided. I will continue to come here. The only downside is the selection of glasses that Target itself offers. I only used the Dr side of Target Optical.. so I cant speak much on the frames and lenses experience. But, I was SO happy to find a place that got me in on the SAME DAY, and for $65! My son broke my glasses in the morning, so I had to get ones replaced that same day. I dont have insurance, so I was trippin to see how many places charged $85+ for an eyeglass exam. I just knew Target would be high, but I called and was TOO happy to hear $65. Made an appointment for a few hours out, and it was a done deal. Service was great. I've never been to Target for an eye exam. I was able to schedule a same day appointment (very convenient). Dr and staff were extremely friendly and professional. It was also my first time purchasing glasses here. I'm very impressed at their service. There was some issues with my insurance showing I used my lenses for the year (which was incorrect) but, staff called my insurance and cleared up the confusion. An overall Target loyalist, I decided to give their optical a shot when I needed to get classes (for the first time). With script in hand (from ophthalmologist, not Target doc), I walked in, apprehensive. What will I be like as Four Eyes? Target's selection is small-ish, but plenty to find something you'll like. The prices are solid, they take insurance, and they're not going to screw you over like all of those huge chain places will that are all owned by Luxotica (i.e. "well, sir, you can't use your insurance AND the coupon we printed in the paper - it's one or the other"). I went to Optical store inside Target. To begin with, the girl inside the store, couldn't correlate my 'Eye Med' discount plan number that was provided to me by my insurance company, and she wanted my Social Security number, which we all know you don't want to give it to people in general. Then she told me that she had been trained by 'Med Eye' to lookup information from their database which obviously was an incorrect statement to make. Otherwise, she should have been able to look it up. My second encounter was when I went to pick up my eyeglasses, she was assisting another customer in another table and was trying to help and interpret for someone else who was being assisted by someone else across the store. I had presumed the other customers far from her was a family member or acquaintance. Later when her acquaintance got up and was ready to leave, she left her customer alone to embrace each other. I thought that was, to say the least very immature. It is said that "Third time's a charm." Not in my case, My third unfortunate encounter with them was in my second visit to their establishment. When a customer and her son this fact who could not have been older than 10-11 years old had both Smartphone with them. I unexpectedly mentioned that I would not have allowed my sons at that age to have access to smartphone, due to the fact it suppresses their mental growth and does not allow to achieve their cognitive abilities among other problems that could cause, like dependence on these devices and may bring a lack of social interactions with other children and not being able to logically go through a process. I also mentioned the fact these smartphones have more computing powers than what NASA used to send Man to the moon vis a vi Apollo program. Then she asked me where did I hear it? I am not sure if someone can say something dumber than that. To begin with, when I went to college, students across disciplines talked to each other and gauged the reality they faced outside of college. I recently had to purchase glasses for two of my children. I went to 5 different stores in the area. The customer service I received from Aaron was phenomenal. He submitted my insurance paperwork, has already resized my 2 yr olds glasses, acknowledges my kids by name when he sees them. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE is an understatement. Great selection too. I expected more from TSO, but Target had far more to choose from and they were running a great sale. Glasses came in less than a week! You really can't beat this place! After having my eye exam done next door, I went in to order eye glasses and contacts. Their frame selection is not huge, but I was able to find just what I was looking for and they do carry some great brands. Aaron took the time to thoroughly explain my insurance coverage... He was patient and super helpful. Excellent customer service! I ended up walking out of there with eye glasses, contacts AND some sweet Ray-Ban sun glasses. Who is this Aaron? I got stuck with Bret twice and he is a pompous ass. I LOVE Target! It's my happy place. Getting my eyeglasses there seemed like a great idea. When I was ordering my glasses Bret was rapidly plugging in information. No options for type of lense; when I paused him to ask I got an obnoxious response. He knows all about lenses so blah blah blah, Ass. I stopped him from selecting to ship my stuff to my house. Really!?! Ask! Another blah blah blah, I know EVERYTHING response. Type of contacts... Another Bret knows everything fiasco. Dude, get over yourself! I have a prescription for this type of contact, I've spoken with the Dr. I don't care about your Optician associate's degree!!! Don't even get me started on the too much information explosion I was stuck with because of a cash register malfunction. I have a receipt to provide for my taxes for a Target gift card b/c Bret's computer messed up. I'm sure he did nothing wrong; that man makes no errors EVER. I picked up my glasses three weeks later. Seemed like a long time to me... Oh the contact place was to blame. They delivered my contacts late. My glasses seemed off. I felt the center of the lenses were off. This guy can't be wrong. The staff at this location is exceptional!! I am a LOYAL Target shopper and a snob when it comes to my glasses, have to be top of the line..of course ;-) Upon a chat with my insurance company they told me that Target is one of the providers for us. I went in not expecting to get much from them..they'd maybe have a few frames and I'd get mad and go back to over priced TSO. Boy was I mistaken. They have a selection that fits my picky-ness and their staff is absolutely wonderful. I originally had spent about an hour with Aaron and we picked out a few pairs and he noted them in my account so I would know exactly what I had picked out..He was so helpful it was like I had my friend there to tell me their HONEST opinion. (And you want that when looking for glasses because I wear them everyday) Second time I went back to actually order them and Rhonda took her time showing me even more glasses and comparing them to a pair of sunglasses that I own that I was looking for my new glasses to mirror. She did an absolute great job and found me the perfect pair of Ray Bans. Even on a 3rd time back to pick up my glasses Jennifer helped me get them to fit just right and told me how stunning I was in them. (ok, maybe not her exact wording but...) The doctor's office was able to schedule me within only a couple days out twice within the same week. I'll get to reason for the second visit later. I had my eyes checked and a new type of prescription filled for glasses and contacts and the copay was only $10. The visit was quick and easy and while I let the new trial contacts set, I looked for new glasses frames. The frame shop had a lot of good choices starting at $59 and I found some Ray Bans that had a great fit. I ordered them and was finished after about 15 minutes. After I went on an overnight trip and found out that the trial contacts seemed a little off after about a day. I called to get my eyes rechecked and was pleased to hear I could be seen the next day. The first prescription ended up being too strong for both eyes and I ordered replacements that are being shipped overnight from the store to me when they come in. I just wish that I never had to go back for an adjustment. read more

I used to go to the Target Optical on Tech Ridge & was very happy with them, but they unfortunately closed a few years ago. So today I went to this Pflugerville location instead. I got an eye exam with Dr. Kelly Phan. She was friendly, thorough & professional. I really felt comfortable with her. I also noticed when I was checking out that she was helping the receptionist with printing out some of my receipts. As someone that works with doctors, I know they don't always volunteer to help the staff like that, at least not without some noticeable annoyance. It made me like the doctor more. Then I went next door to pick out my glasses & place my contact order. I'm VERY picky about my glasses & it takes me a long time to pick a pair out. I always warn salespeople that it will take me a long time & that I'm fine with them helping other customers while I'm taking my time. The sales people were patient & friendly even though I'm probably one of the more annoying customers they have to deal with because I take so long. I never felt rushed. My sales person, Brittany, was helpful & didn't seem to mind my taking so long. If she did, she hid it well. :) I finally found the frames I wanted & placed my order. Prices are pretty standard for eye wear. The selection is a little small compared to other places, but truthfully more choices would only encourage someone like me to take even longer. You should still be able to find something stylish that you like. I still have to pick up my glasses next week, but I don't anticipate any problems based on the Target Opticals I've used in the past & also based on the fantastic service I received at this location today. My husband and I have been seeing the Optometrist connected to this Target Optical location for 3 years now. I love that they send post card reminders to remind us to get our eyes checked. You can schedule your appointments online to see the Optometrist which is very time saving. Every time we've gone we are always in and out. We purchase our frames and lens from Target Optical. They have a wide range of selection in brands and styles. We always find what we are looking for and there prices are very fair. I have horrible vision so I have to get best lens and typically this means they are more expensive. The insurance we have is fairly standard but we still always seem to save so much! They always tell us our glasses will be ready in a week but we typically get a call around day 3!. Before I started shopping at Target Optical I use to go to TSO and my last pair of glasses from them were $400. That was all out of pocket not including what my insurance had covered. I'm still scarred to be honest. Whether you have insurance or not Target Optical always has a monthly specials. Right before Christmas last year I noticed they had Ray-Ban sunglasses for kids. Both my husband and I wear prescription Ray-Bans so naturally our daughter is forever trying to fit in :). I believe the deal at the time was 20% off prescription sunglasses. I clarified if the offer was valid for kid sunglasses without a prescription (as is) type of deal. To my surprise the Manager went ahead and gave me the discount. Our daughter is 7 and absolutely loves them. She takes really good care of them. The staff at this location is very friendly and personable. I walk-in all the time to get adjustments or just a cleaning. I highly recommend you check them out.
