If you are LOOKing into getting Lasik surgery, LOOK NO FURTHER! I came in a month ago and had a consultation with Dr. Forrest and Melissa. Both were incredible! So sweet, patient, and down-to-earth, I was sold instantly with just them alone. In addition to the great staff, SharpeVision has beautiful interior decor, clean facilities, and state of the art equipment. The only thing you may be hesitant about would be the pricing. Luckily, if you receive a consult from somewhere else, and receive a lower quote, they WILL price match! I had my procedure just yesterday, and WOW. I am so impressed, there aren't enough words to describe how amazing SharpeVision is! Dr. Lancaster was my ophthalmologist who performed the procedure. On the day of my surgery, he came in with all the answers I needed, and described the procedure in detail. The procedure only took about 14 minutes, and as soon as I was done, I was able to walk out of the office seeing more than I did before! Literally, everything the staff went over (ie: rest for 4-5 hours post-procedure, stinging, difficulty opening eyes, halos, light sensitivity, pain, etc) happened, but since they described everything in detail, my anxiety was eased tremendously. Lastly, even though SharpeVision is closed on the weekends, they make special arrangements for their patients to come in on Saturday (post-op). Other offices I had my consult with make you WAIT until the next business day! NOTE: With covid in place, your guests cannot accompany you as they did before. Prior to covid, they had this awesome window where your guests can watch the whole procedure. Unfortunately, this is no longer the case. However, if you are a social media junkie like myself, I had the whole thing recorded and posted to my story THE SAME DAY.

My husband pushed me to get laser eye correction after a service at SharpeVision Modern LASIK. I have a high prescription and did not think I would qualify or that it would be too pricey of a procedure. I was very pleased with the options and the pricing was better than I had expected under the circumstances. I had the PRK service, which went very smoothly. I did not experience any pain or discomfort during the procedure and it was quick. The staff is very friendly and maintains consistent communication and transparency. The establishment is clean, Swanky, and inviting. I would definitely recommend for anyone considering laser eye correction!

A happy, grateful patient!

I found Sharpe Vision via a Google search. It was easy to setup an initial consultation online. Services were more affordable than an alternative I had found. Friendly staff. Testimonial: I found myself resorting to vision surgery because my contacts prescription is very strong and I could no longer find a company to make my lenses. I came to Sharpe Vision and was met with the most caring people I have had the pleasure of meeting. Dr. Forrest assured me they could help, and Dr. Lancaster was very reassuring as well. The day of my surgery I was well prepared for what was going to happen, and Rocky, Melissa, and Jesse made sure I was comfortable. I adore these people and how much they care for their patients, it honestly shows. I'm now 1 week post surgery, and my vision is drastically improved! I went from having a glimmer of hope with nearsightedness including astigmatism (-13 in both eyes [I could see clearly without glasses or contacts between 1"- 6" in front of my face and everything was blurry to give you an idea of how bad my vision was]), to 20/20 vision! I am so happy they were able to help me, and I think they can help you too.

Does lasik and prk cost the same?

The quick answer is, Yes! The only way to know your exact needs and cost is to schedule a free consultation. We hope to see you soon! https://sharpe-vision.com/book-now-austin/

I had corrected eye surgery about 20 years ago and my eyesight has started to worsen is there a surgery that can correct this.?

Hi Kenneth, thank your for reaching out, we have several options to help patients with prior vision correction surgery. We would love yo see your for a Free Consultation! Feel free to find the best day and time for you at www.sharpe-vision.com

Do you operate on ehlers danlos patients?

Wendy, this is not always a straightforward answer. We potentially can, but would take a look at everything on a free consult. We would look at scans of your corneal shape and thickness, look at the lens of your eye and back of your eye. Depending… Read more

I scheduled an appointment (I was able to be seen the next day) and the visit went smoothly. The office staff was friendly and efficient, and Dr. Lindsey was delightful. Every good thing Michelle said about Dr. Lindsey was true for me, too. We had a good time chatting about faculty we knew in common. My fears of an eye infection were groundless (my discomfort was most likely due to allergies so she gave me some eyedrops). I had her do a full refraction and eye exam since I was already there. She found my current eyeglass prescription was fine and didn't need to be changed, and that my eyes were perfectly healthy (she said they were likely the healthiest she'd see all day). I'll see her again in a year, and look forward to it. If you need an ophthalmologist who is well-trained in diseases of the eye as well as the normal eyeglass and contact lens fitting, then I recommend Dr. Lindsey. Other physicians who are members of the group practice (The Eye Institute of Austin) appear to be equally stellar in their pedigrees.

She listens well and proposes workable solutions for every little complaint - like loading me up with samples of various eye drops to try with my finicky gas permeable lenses. Her staff is excellent, as well, and for as long as I've been seeing her, she's had the same assistant, the same optometrist, the same contact lens expert - the longevity in this office just says something. Also, she hates waiting at the doctor's office, so she works hard to stay on schedule, which I so appreciate. Doctors who realize that their patients' time is valuable, too, are much too rare. I'd recommend Dr. Lindsey without reservation.

We arrived 15 minutes early for my Husband's 3:15 appointment. An hour later we had yet to be acknowledged except for taking our money and completing paperwork. Meanwhile, the front desk "trainer" and another clerk were gossiping, laughing and chatting- ignoring myself and others at the front desk waiting. After I approached the front desk, we miraculously were called back- 50 minutes AFTER our appointment time. But we only saw an assistant for tests. We were then put in a full waiting room and told there were at least three patients ahead of us so it would be ANOTHER 25 to 30 minutes before we saw a doctor. So two hours plus for a check up. But it gets better- turns out there were 10 patients ahead of us. So I wouldn't believe a word that anyone at this office says. I was considering using this practice for eye surgery myself. There is no way I would give them a dime of my money with such an inefficient office. If I ran my business this way, I wouldn't have a business. Zero star rating. Do better, Mann Eye Institute.

Until recently, if the word "eye" was…read morebrought up anywhere, I would quickly tell anyone within earshot to go to Dr. Gary Rylander at the Eye Institute. Sadly, he recently retired, and things are already going downhill. They will no longer give contact lens prescriptions- and without notice to their patients; people go in for an appt and then are told to go to an optometrist for a contact RX. The office manager defended this with a virtual shrug, saying the board had to approve a notice for their patients, and then approve the exact message. It's been over 48 business hours since that supposedly happened, and no notice has been received. The office mgr also refused to give any board contact info, and instead insisted she is the only point of contact for the board. The board and office manager need to decide what path they want to take with this practice. As it is, they are going to lose the business of the younger generations who rely on contacts (who wants to go to 2 diff appts for the eye dr?). I believe the older people who wear only glasses or have medical needs will probably stay, but is that the way to grow a business? I have been a patient for over 25 years, and I have 7 family members who go there because I recommended it. The current office manager has completely changed the atmosphere of this office. Do you know what it's like to go to your grandparent's house? It may not be modern, it may need painting- but it's filled with comfort, warmth, and trust. That's what the Eye Institute used to be like. It was founded by people who were born and bred in Austin, with humbleness, integrity and honesty. They were the kind of salt-of-the-earth people who always did the right thing- which included putting their patients first. The staff under this manager is unprofessional- both in appearance and attitude. There are too many people standing around in halls, talking and socializing. They seem drawn to the manager like a moth to flame, and oddly she seems to encourage it...rather than getting to work. The one bright spot left is Dr. Rylander's asst, Sandy, who is amazingly competent and efficient, but she doesn't seem to be there as much anymore; the other assistants do not compare in skill set, knowledge or professionalism. Also, Dr. Murphy is attentive, detail-oriented & caring, but I'm afraid she might be outnumbered in this office. I hope that something drastic changes, as I hate to see this practice being driven into the ground. If it does, I will update my review accordingly. The Eye Institute once embodied what it meant to be from Austin- now it has the feel of a firm purchased by private equity; please do not let the current management further erode the legacy its founders worked their lifetime to create. Edited to add: the office manager just called me (5/12) and said I had committed a "violation" by sharing my reviews with the doctors, and that I am not allowed to contact them regarding my experiences. No mention was made of notifying patients with upcoming appts of their change in service.
