For years I passed this place and never noticed it, but learned from another customer it's a staple for locals and more. Order outside and pick up inside. Tables outside and inside. I ordered the burrito (avocado, lettuce, cheese, & pico de gallo). It was delicious and huge like others stated. I used their fork for size reference. My husband had their pastrami ruben. We both took 1/2 of ours home. Definitely will return to try more on their menu!

Both order the exact same thing, one right after the other. A few minutes later, both orders are called. First guy gets his order and says he needs more red salsa. He gets more salsa, no questions, no charge. Second guy gets his exact same order immediately after. He asks if he can have an extra salsa. He's told it's an extra $0.75. There was no pause, no gap in between the 2 men's interactions. Literally stood next to each other, ordered the same thing, one got free salsa, the other got charged. A table full of people nearby, tilt their heads and cock their eyebrows in disbelief. Free salsa guy happens to be White. Paid salsa guy is Asian. Coincidence? You can decide for yourself. We all know discrimination and prejudice exists. It's an unfortunate part of life. I'm no stranger to it. It's usually not quite this overt. This was a little too blatant to just sweep under the rug. Is having to spend an extra $0.75 a big deal? No. Is blatant discrimination? It's enough to stop supporting this business.

Free Street parking in Pasadena…read more Cost - $20-30/pp The burger itself was around the low $20 range, though the chicken pot pie looked incredible and I'd probably try that next time. The burger was genuinely very good--not life-changing gourmet food, but exactly what a classic American burger should taste like. The best way I can describe it is like an elevated old-school burger. Similar spirit to In-N-Out in its simplicity, but juicer like if burlesque was a burger. You're going for the atmosphere, the history, and the feeling of stepping into a different era of California. Overall: * Food: 5/5 * Atmosphere/Nostalgia: 5/5 * Parking: 3.5/5 * Service: 5/5 * Value: 4/5 Not necessarily a mandatory stop for tourists unless you really love historic food institutions, but if you live in L.A., it's absolutely worth visiting at least once. I'd definitely go back.

I thought I already reviewed the best burger in Pasadena!…read more On my first visit, a standard burger was $3.95. I forget what it is now-- $6??? As good as this burger is, it's still a deal. Super Burger is owned by a super-nice Korean family. There are various Korean dishes in their menu available but I only go there for the burgers. What makes their simple burgers so great? First off the burger patty-- the patties are formed in-house. The cooked patties have that irregular edge that can only come from being hand-formed; imperfect and delicious. These aren't the frozen discs delivered by a freezer truck. The ratio of the ingredients are ideal. -- The tomato is sliced to the perfect thickness -- The freshly-shredded lettuce doesn't manspread and take up too much of the burger's real estate -- The thousand island dressing marries the freshness of the veggie section to the animal part perfectly -- The burger patty's girth is appropriately balanced for the other ingredients. -- Their buns have that old-school yeast(?) flavor not available in stores. Their burgers are lovingly prepared and assembled with care. This is why whenever I go, there are always people there. Seating is strictly patio style, looking out onto the intersection of Altadena and Villa. There lot is small lot next to the stand. I'm not sure if it's shared with another business. Street parking is available. Even though super burger is basically a corner burger stand with patio seating, the place is always clean. Super Burger is definitely a sure thing. It is the finest example of what a basic, standard burger can be. Bun, burger patty, lettuce, tomato, and dressing doesn't get better than this.

Hard to find a place doing it this good. This is my 8th LA smash burger and it's definitely a top three contender! The ratios were on point. The lemon pepper fries were killer. The bulgogi fries were strangely good for no one appearing to be Korean who worked there. Big fresh jalapeños on top with the perfect amount of sauce. GREAT home made pickles on the burger to offset the rich patty and cheese. The service was TOP tier. Took a little longer than most, but tasted better than most! So pick your poison! Great outdoor seating in a bar next door with its own brewery. They have a deal going so you can use that place. Sat in a cool outdoor patio area with fake grass and a nice fence. Nice shade. It was always a real treat. As a teenager I dated a couple of the girls that worked there so I was there on the regular in those days. In my 20's I lived right up the street and hit them up quite often. I don't get there as much as I'd like nowadays but when I do, it is always consistently great. Times have definitely changed but Connal's quality food and super customer service has not! I am a huge Combination Grinder fan and have not ordered anything different for well over 30 years. They are always stacked with lots of high quality cold cuts and delicious Provolone, crisp shredded Lettuce, thin sliced Onions and Vinegar and Oil on a delicious French Roll. In my teens and 20's I did try many samplings on their vast menu and as memory serves, everything was always delicious. Today's Grinder absolutely hit the spot! It had been a while since I last tasted one but the Combo Grinder most definitely never disappoints. I went for it, and got Zings (Zucchini Sticks and Onion Rings). Super hot, crisp and very tasty, especially with some Bleu Cheese Dressing. Jesse took my order and he was very personable and showed me some excellent customer service. If you are looking for some great grub, you cannot lose with Sandwiches By Connal. It is not the original owners but they have kept the same quality and standards over the years.

This hidden gem had incredible sandwiches and portions for unbearable prices. $10 for a sandwich? In LA county?? AND it was good?? Unbeatable. I love a good grinder (pictured) but the stars of the show were the Philly cheesesteak that my boyfriend got and our onion rings. It is so rare to have an onion ring nowadays that doesn't slide out of the batter. Will be back!!
