This is my favorite tteokbokki place in the San Fernando Valley. The portions are a good size so I usually share with someone and it is served on a skillet to be kept warm. My favorite flavor is the rose tteokbokki, but the grandma one is good too! I also like the sides they have, especially the new ones they just added--the soy garlic fried chicken. The food comes out relatively quick, about 10-15 minutes and the servers are really nice and attentive. I like that they provide hair ties and bibs if you are scared of it staining your shirt, especially if you're wearing a lighter color shirt. The parking is free there, but is pretty small so beware of rush hours!
Good food and service, very clean inside. I should've gotten the smaller rice cake. It was like boba ball chewiness haha I would definitely recommend the place and get ramen noodles with the dish. A nice casual spot for individuals or groups. Lots of fun stuff in the parking lot, I went to the boba spot after eating!
The food was absolutely delicious! I ordered the rose tteokbokki with cheese and ramen, and the spice level was 2. It was incredibly tasty and one order was enough for two people..
I finally got a chance to try Halgatteok, and I'm SO glad I did. This was my very first time having Korean street food, and the experience from start to finish was absolutely wonderful. First things first, the service deserves a shoutout of its own. The woman who greeted me was genuinely one of the sweetest people ever. From the moment I walked in, she made me feel welcomed and comfortable. She took her time explaining the menu, walking me through each item, the spice levels, and what she personally recommended. It never felt rushed or overwhelming. Just thoughtful, patient, and kind. That level of care really stood out and made the experience feel extra special. Now, onto the food (because WOW). I ordered the giant rosé tteokbokki at spice level 1, and it was absolutely delicious. You can customize your bowl with additional toppings to your liking at their self serve topping station, making the experience just that more personalized! The sauce was creamy, rich, and comforting with just a gentle kick of heat. Which is perfect for someone easing into spice like I am! The rice cakes were thick, chewy, and cooked perfectly, soaking up all that flavorful rosé sauce. I'm already craving this, it was truly wonderful. The portion was generous, especially considering it's called "giant" for a reason. It felt indulgent without being overwhelming, and I could honestly eat this again and again. I also tried the rice balls, which were a great balance to the saucier dishes. It was served as a bowl of steamed rice as the base, with crispy seaweed and sesame oil. They provide gloves so you can shape them yourself, which makes the experience feel interactive and fun! You get to form the rice into little balls at your own pace, or bigger ones! They were simple, satisfying, and comforting. I personally loved parking the rice balls with the rosé sauce!!! The vegetable tempura was light, crispy, and not greasy at all. Each piece had an incredible crunch. It paired really well with the heavier dishes and added a nice contrast. Then there was the Dakgangjeong (Korean fried chicken) in soy garlic, which might've been my favorite bite of the entire meal. The chicken was perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, coated in a glossy soy garlic sauce that was sweet, savory, and jam packed with flavor. It had that addictive quality where you keep reaching for "just one more piece." Seriously so good. If you try anything from their menu, let it be this and their giant Tteokbokki, of course! To drink, I ordered the Thai tea latte, and it was the perfect finishing touch. Creamy, smooth, and not overly sweet. Refreshing enough to balance out the richness of the food. I never really enjoyed Thai tea until now!! I will be back for this drink alone I think! Overall, this place COMPLETELY exceeded my expectations. Between the incredibly kind service, the comforting and exciting flavors, and the generous portions, Halgatteok made my first Korean street food experience unforgettable. You can tell there's heart behind what they do here!!! If you're new to Korean street food or even if you're already a fan, I highly recommend stopping by. I'll definitely be back to try more items on the menu, and honestly, I'm already craving that rosé tteokbokki again haha.
Food was great! Quite expensive for just rice cakes no meat fish cakes artificial flour .I ordered Grandmas tteok spicy level 3 with extra ramen noodles. $20 dollars serves two person. Sat down and waited almost 40-45 mins in store even on a weekday . Service was great patient staff. Not happy with ambiance. Music overly repetitive Definitely attract K-pop lovers. Not bad for what's available here in the valley!
If you're looking for a dining experience that feels like you have willingly signed up for culinary hazing, congratulations - you found it at Halgatteok. First, the K fried chicken. I call it sweet and yes, it is sweet in the way your aunt's Facebook post are sweet, aggressively, sticky, cloying, and just shy of giving you a cavity on the spot. Still, annoyingly addictive. You'll keep eating it like you're in a toxic relationship, muttering "this is too much" between bites while licking your fingers anyway. The fried rice cake, though shockingly good. Crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside - the kind of thing that makes you think, "yeah, I'd risk hot oil burns for this". Honestly, it might've been the most dependable item on the table. And then there's a grandma Tataekbokki. Which you can order the spice level and I ordered it spicy. Whoever this grandma is, she's clearly harboring generational rage and decided to take it out on unsuspecting customers. "Ridiculously spicy" doesn't even cover it. It's not heat - it's a life choice. One bite and suddenly you're reconsidering your will, reevaluating your faith, and googling how long does capsicum stay in your bloodstream". So yes, go for the fried chicken.
Delicious food. I'd go back there again if the to go containers is more user friendly. It's a bit frustrating for me since I can usually only eat a little bit at a time. They seal the containers the way boba cups are sealed. However, with a boba cup, you can drink it with a straw and minimize spillage. With super hot food, you obviously have to open it much bigger. What do you if you can only eat a little bit at a time and need to put it away? I tried to somewhat seal it with a heavy metal fork, but it's still barely closing it. Bringing it to the car with a long walk and other things to carry? You're risking spillage. 5 stars if it wasn't for the messy containers.
Awesome spot for tteokboki in the valley! Now we don't have to go all the way to downtown for chewy rice cakes. The place was clean, we didn't wait for long for our food, and we will absolutely come back again! Aside from our grandma and rose tteokboki, we added cheese, ramen, rice balls (that you make yourself), and kimbap. A little pricey though and with great parking.
I come here strictly for one thing and one thing only! I add other things to my must tries but this dish is a must every time! I believe this restaurant has the best tasting Tteokbokki east of the 405... hot fresh and super tasty! Portions are big and you will have enough for leftovers. Gimbap is really good here too! Super fresh!
Finally! We got to try this new Korean food in Northridge. We ordered the Rose Taekbokki - level 1 spice and mini size of rice cake so that ny 11 yr old son can eat and its in bite size portion already. For an added extra fee, we decided to add instant Ramen, extra fish cakes, sausages, fish caske tofu and onions. One order of the taakbokki is actually good for 2-3 people eapecially if you put all the extra add ons. We didn't even get to finish ours so had to take some home. We also ordered the Fish Cake Soup, the size and portions of the fish cakes were all decent. It has a clear soup which I like but adding the fish soup sauce makes it even more flavorful!!! We also ordered gimmari (fried seaweed roll) it really goes well with the taekbokki and sweet potato tempura - right portion and decent size as well. We came here 2 consecutive days actually, first on a Saturday with just me and my 2 children and then the next day, with my husband and kids again. The service GREAT! I am guessing they are college kids and are so nice, sweet, attentive and helpful. You order the food from the cashier but they bring the food to your table. They also clean them right after customers leave which I think is good because it keeps the place look clean and neat. The ambience of the place is nice. The untensils and sauce area is very neat and organize. The area where the added extra topping are also neat and you can't see food spills around. They also have free plastric apron to use so that your clothes with not get dirty and free hair ties as well. This place is highly recommended and I am So glad that they decided to open this here in SFV - Northridge. My family had a happy tummy leaving this place and looking fowards to many more visits here.
A solid Korean soul food place! I tried their rose tteokbokki, gimmari, and soondae. The tteokbokki was flavorful and comforting. The tteok was chewy and the sauce was not too thick or thin. I opted for the mini tteok, but looking forward to trying their garaetteok next time! I tolerate spiciness well, but the spicy level 2 was a tad bit too spicy for me. I would choose level 1 if you are sensitive to spiciness. The gimmari was my favorite. It had a great fried texture and a chewy interior. It was perfect to dip in the tteokbokki. The soondae was a bit disappointing and I would not get it again. The casings were missing on most of the pieces and the noodles were overcooked, so it looked like a blob on a plate. The taste was not there either. I liked to atmosphere of the place and the disposable bibs/hair ties to keep yourself clean was a nice touch. The service was great and I enjoyed eating the tteokbokki out of their pseudo-cast iron pan.
Update: We got the soy wings and tteobokki with the mini one. It was actually not bad and I remembered suggesting about pickled radish and they have it this time! I would say that this time food was better. Came here since people said it got better and I would give it a solid 7/10. Would definitely come back if we're craving tteobokki!

Been wanting to try this place for a while and finally had the time to! I'm so glad there's a good spot for tteokbokki in the valley now, so I don't have to drive all the way out to ktown. First time trying this place and wow! The flavor! I went with Rose Tteokbokki since I love a creamy sauce and decided on the garae tteok since it's their signature and it was so good! It's also very deceiving in terms of size because it comes in a shallow pan but you'll quickly find out it's a lot! Loved it and can't wait to come back! It was also great because they had tongs and scissors which absolutely came in handy when eating the garae tteok. It was a bit loud in the restaurant at the time I went but there was a huge party of about 10-12 people in the middle of the restaurant otherwise it would've been quiet. read more

I've been seeing this place pop up all over my feed anywhere I was on, so of course I finally got up and had to go order take out in store. They are very friendly and the place was pretty busy on a Sunday afternoon. It's very clean and everything looks brand new. It's honestly never even tried Tteok-bokki. But I'm very familiar with Korean noddles and love spicy. There's a few options you have to add to your tteokbokki bowl. I added ramen and got the number 2 spice level, there's 3 levels. I got the rose tteokbokki, the flavor was on point. It was a kinda spicier than I thought, but I can handle the heat. I don't think I can go up to level 3 whatsoever though. It came with egg, bacon, fish cake and sausage. The tteokbokki were very big and delicious. They asked me if I wanted regular size or there special long ones, of course I had to go big! This bowl was very filling I could barely eat half of it. With the sweet potato tempura, I was completely full. The tempura was good especially with the sauce they give. If you want to try something new and authentic Korean I would come here. read more

I ordered the Jjajang and Rose tteokbokki at Halgatteok Northridge, and they were delicious!!! The Rose sauce is rich and fragrant, and it pairs perfectly with side dishes like sundae. I'm always craving tteokbokki but most places I eat at tend to not have that "authentic" tteokbokki taste. I decided to come here just to give it a try and omg... literally so good! First off, the service was amazing. Very friendly and answered questions that I had. The restaurant itself is very clean & spacious. I ordered grandma's tteokbokki with melted cheese and a side of gimmari. Food was made to order and served HOT. I got spicy level 2 which is very mild & tolerable if you're used to spice.
