I should have read all the low rated reviews because we had an unpleasant experience. The strawberries and cream cake may be presentable, but the taste was unpalatable. The strawberry buttercream was extremely sweet for all of my guests and we didn't want to save the leftovers since nobody was eating it. Classy, affordable cakes - gluten free options! We love Half Baked! We discovered it, ironically enough, just months before I was diagnosed with Celiac in 2016. Luckily, they have gluten free options a plenty so they were the 1st place we thought of when choosing a wedding cake. Of all the gluten free bakeries nearby, they were THE most affordable. We collaborated with Natalie who was with us from day one. She is wonderful - so understanding and supportive. We chose to do three separate cakes since GF flour tends to sink. Also, having separate cakes allowed us to accommodate other dietary restrictions, and it gave us multiple flavor options, too. Half Baked's execution of our vision onto our cakes was simple, elegant and lovely. Of our three cakes, the GF spice with cream cheese was by far the best - our very favorite! I found Half Baked on IG and followed them because they offer vegan and gluten free options. I have several food allergies and they are the bakery who accommodates my needs the most. I've wanted to order from them since I first started following them but never had a reason to, til my boyfriend asked me what I wanted for my 30th birthday. I gave him the suggestion and he emailed them to set up the order since he wanted to make my Quarantined birthday special. He let them know all of my restrictions and was suggest the "Golden Vanilla" cake but was sent a picture of a white frosted cake with sprinkles and a Pikachu topper. On the website, the Golden Vanilla cake is presented as a white frosted cake with sprinkles. At first he wanted the cake to be a surprised but I honestly don't like surprises so he showed me the email exchange and the picture of the suggested cake. I was so excited to finally get to try their cakes and even better it was a Pikachu themed cake. The day finally came! I was anxiously waiting for the delivery. The delivery finally came and I was greatly disappointed. The cake that I received was not what was pictured, not like the Golden Vanilla on the website or the Pikachu one that was sent in the email. I was devastated. I received a cake that was tiny and plain white, no sprinkles or Pikachu anything. My boyfriend quickly got on the phone to ask what happened. He thought that he was being charged for the Pikachu themed cake and delivery. $100 and all I got was a plain white cake. It was a cake to feed 6 people but I'm guessing its for people who are on a diet. I was gonna let it go and just be grateful that I finally got a cake that I could eat. I was so disappointed but I was set on making the best of it so I went out and bought sprinkles that are my friendly to help remedy it and try to enjoy it. It didn't help because the cake itself wasn't anything spectacular. It tasted like a cheap already made cake from Ralph's and was charged extra because it's "vegan and gluten free". The frosting was extremely sweet and the bread was dry, it's almost like vegan and gluten free means extra sugar so you can't tell the difference. Went here when they had the BOGO macarons. I ordered the Lavander and Chocomint. They were both yummy and baked to perfection. The store is nice and clean. There were some other macarons and cupcakes on display. There were three photo albums of different cakes which I guess you can choose from for ordering? Can't really say anything about the staff because there was really no interaction between us. Lady just took my order, rang it up and that's about it. I tried to make a conversation with her but she seemed disinterested probably because I didn't buy anything else but the promo. The best way to describe it is the "on sale" section of B-day cake at Ralphs with a $5 sticker on it. It was tiny, extremely basic looking. I brought it to the car and my girlfriend was shocked. "You paid $65 dollars for THIS"?!! "Is that a JOKE"?? I can't tell you how upset I was. My car shut down so my girlfriend came to drive me to pick up the cake. A 30th birthday is a serious deal especially for my boyfriend who went through a lot in this past year. and it's also one year of us dating. I was looking forward to suprise my him with an amazing cake. I brought the cake back, all I was told is that I'll need to email the manager. Now imagine the stress I was in. My GF needs to leave, I am sitting in her car, calling other bakeries to see where I can get a costume made cake on the spot. No one was able to accommodate my need in such a short notice. Eventually I was so stressed out that I decided to settle and called "Half baked" I told them that I will only pay $20 for this cake. Was needing a few cupcakes for a birthday and found this bakery close by. The bottom part is pre-baked and then the the lovely baker hand frosted and decorated each flavor chosen. I had half of each of them and all I can tell you is that they were absolutely delicious. The Lavender Honey and Lemon one are particularly amazing, if you want something different than chocolate. The cupcake itself is light and mildly flavored, but the frosting is truly special! So happy to have my go-to cupcake place in Burbank now!!
