Right now, they're doing a promotion where purchase of a specialty latte gets you a free cupcake. I got the mocha latte, which was chocolatey and sweet but not too overpowering. The cup was very cutely decorated. The cookies and cream cupcake was excellent. I really loved the cream on top. It was super fluffy and piped on fresh, and the cake had a great texture as well. A hobbit skunk hole cake! Where to begin with this cake. We gasped in delight when we saw it. It was the perfect design matching my husband's hobbit hole ring and my skunk and acorn ring with something funny at the top (Sir Richard Taylor, who we adoringly quote daily). It was almost a shame to ruin this artistry by cutting into it but man, was it delicious! The smaller cake layer was gluten free/dairy free lemon raspberry flavored and everyone who tried both layers liked the gluten free one best. I can't believe these cupcakes are vegan! They're maybe the best cupcakes we've ever had. We ordered several flavors for my daughter's birthday at Gentle Barn, which requires vegan food only. We ordered an assortment of salted caramel, chocolate, lemon, lemon blueberry, red velvet, strawberries and cream, and cookies & cream. They came out of the oven shortly before my husband arrived and were decorated in a flash, and were basically eaten in a hot second at the party because they were INCREDIBLE! I reached out to them earlier this week to see if they could make some cupcakes for my five year wedding anniversary that match the colors and vibes of my original wedding cake, and they did not disappoint. Both experiences were nothing short of exceptional. The staff at Half Baked Co truly go above and beyond. My original wedding cake was vegan red velvet on one tier, and vegan marble on the second tier. When I reached out to inquire about my cupcake order (which was quite short notice - entirely my fault) I asked for 6x red velvet. I didn't want to sound overly fussy by asking if they could do red velvet and marble, especially since I was ordering on such short notice, but their staff absolutely delighted me by ASKING if I wanted red velvet AND marble! It was easy to explain what I wanted and let me tell you- the execution of what I wanted was created beautifully. Not only was the cake gorgeous , it was delicious. First of all, Half Baked has the best cakes and cupcakes in all of Los Angeles, and it's run by the kindest women. If we lived closer, we would go every day. They did an excellent job with our wedding cake. We did two tiers, with the one being chocolate cake and fresh strawberry+strawberry cream filling, and the other tier a vanilla cake with the same filling. What Half Baked excels at in my opinion is nailing a perfect balance. The cake was perfectly moist and also had a very nice fluffiness. The strawberry cream filling is something I can eat by the spoonful. It was perfectly balanced in that it wasn't too sweet the way other creams/icings are. It was just perfect. So perfect that I asked them to make the same chocolate strawberry cake for my wife's birthday a few months later. I asked for the rosette design in blush pink and they nailed it. Half Baked knows what they're doing, and I just want to have parties all the time so they can keep making cakes for us.
