As a Burbank native, Yummy Cupcakes is one of my all time favorite sweets. These cupcakes are unlike any other, the way they are made you can tell how fresh and authentic they are. I was unsure about posting this review because honestly, the cupcakes have always been "Meh," but this review isn't really about the treats. Awhile back, I took my 4 year- old there for a cupcake. As we were waiting in line, the owner got in to a conversation with the lady ahead of us. They complained extensively about the clientele coming from The Horror Bodega next door. She said that they weren't "her kind of people" and that the people from the comic store across the street weren't any better. She went on and on about how if she had known that "those kind of people" would be buying her cupcakes, she would have never rented the new location and how she didn't feel safe because they dressed like devils and wore ridiculous makeup. We couldn't leave because my kid was committed to get this cupcake, but I will not spend another dime at this shop. In response to the owners comment below: I walked in at the same time as the woman you had this conversation with and she left before I did. Your shop is small and it is impossible to only hear a portion of your conversation. You can try to reframe what you said after the fact but I understood exactly how you felt about your new clientele. I sincerely hope that the ridiculously made up devils chose to spend their money somewhere where their hard earned cash is appreciated and they are made to feel welcomed and safe. I have been coming to Yummy Cupcakes for probably over a decade, ever since I was in high school. I'm glad that they survived the decline of the cupcake fad, because I love their really unique flavors! Some flavors are definitely better than others, but honestly everything here is good. Cupcakes are around $4.50 a piece, and I would say are slightly larger than the average. Parking is usually easy to find right outside or on nearby streets, and I've never had to wait in line for too long. read more

My friend has been waiting for 3 months for a promised refund for an order they claimed was not fulfilled because of an employee emergency. She showed up in Dec to pick up pre ordered cupcakes and the shop was closed and no one answered the phone. She was promised a refund. She's been promised multiple times and still has no refund!!! She was a customer to them for awhile before this incident. In addition the cupcakes are hard and it always seems as if they have last minute reasons why they're not open. I had a birthday deal to claim and decided to go in on a Saturday morning (what better treat to accompany my coffee). It's a small shop right on Magnolia, so there's definitely street parking available and other shops to browse and stop by, if you want to make a mini walk out of it. The place is clean and very simple. There's a display with all of their cupcake varieties. They did have samples available but I think if you want to try something, you can ask them and they'll give you a small taste. They have cupcakes, mini cupcakes, and also cookies! Prices are reasonable. Service was great. There were a few people ahead of me in line but it honestly went by pretty quickly. It seems most people have their go-to favorites already in mind. I opted for the espresso cupcake. It's a chocolate cupcake with espresso frosting... and omg, it was delicious. It was SO good. It wasn't overpowering or too sweet, the flavors blended so well together. I never eat the frosting on most things, but I definitely ate all of this cupcake together. In think customer service is more important than what is actually being serviced. Use to go to the old location before they moved down the street. Cupcakes are good but when I came in there was one other person in there and I wasn't acknowledged until it was my time to order and the other person left. It's been a few years since I've had one of these tasty treats and since I parked in front of the shop before heading into Palm Coffee Bar I decided to stop in before going home. They've definitely expanded their offerings since the last time I was here. In addition to traditional cupcakes they have vegan, glutenless, GL vegan, Apple Cider Donuts, biscuits, cookies, croissants, cupcakes in a jar, and even cupcakes for your pups. There were so many delicious options to choose from that I had a hard time deciding. There are a lot of unique flavors that you won't find elsewhere. I selected the Brown Sugar Cinnamon cupcake, because it was something different, and a chocolate chip cookie sandwich. The Brown Sugar Cinnamon is a moist vanilla bean cupcake with a brown sugar/cinnamon crumble and a swirl of creamy vanilla buttercream frosting on top. It was like having a crumb cake with frosting. Yum! I'm not sure who came up with the idea to put frosting in between two chocolate chip cookies but this was a match made in heaven! The cookie was huge with lots of chunks of chocolate chips and a creamy vanilla buttercream center. This could easily be cut into quarters and shared with 4 people, but I was glad I didn't have to share it with anyone. Oink. Oink. If I lived in the area I would be here every day until I worked my way through the entire menu. Next time you want to treat yourself (or someone special) stop by Yummy Cupcakes. I was in search of vegan dessert - was going over to my friend's place for xmas, she is vegetarian but her hubby is vegan, which limits what we can bring over. I was in Burbank for a doctor's appt and decided to stop by this place and pick up some desserts. They were unfortunately out of vegan cookies, so I got half a dozen vegan cupcakes - sugar cookie, vanilla, vanilla chocolate, chocolate chocolate and two others. Ordered the monthly special 'pancakes and bacon,' vegan fruit, gluten free strawberry, and peach cobbler. There are lots of choices. The pancake and bacon was the star. I was told The vegan was a sweet and soft and the gluten free was a little dry but a good sweet. I didn't eat the cobbler until the next day and I missed the peaches. Where to start...after many years, they moved their Burbank location months back and didn't even put a sign on the door or say much about it on the website. So bizarre. I finally went to the new location recently, which is just a few blocks down. It's a much smaller location with the same theme. The odd thing is that they didn't have descriptions of the cupcakes and they didn't have any Halloween themed/decorated cupcakes. It's a week before Halloween and they're in the unofficial Halloween section of Magnolia Park! They did have a list of 13 Halloween themed drinks, which is cute, but they're too pricey. There is always a good selection of classic flavors like chocolate, vanilla, and red velvet, but what I like best is their special seasonal flavors that change every month. Right now they have a caramel apple cupcake which is to die for! If you aren't sure what to get, the chocolate salty caramel or a lemon tart bar are both safe bets, or if you are really cool, get a pickles & ice cream cupcake! My family and I have always loved getting cupcakes from here for the last decade or so. Pre-Covid, the workers usually are always so welcoming and prompt in helping us pick out cupcake flavors. Now with Covid measures in place, we don't see that many workers and instead, what appears to be the actual owners an older white couple. In one visit, my mom accidentally forgot her mask and the wife yelled at her to go out and wear one. Understandable, being mad about that kind of thing is fine. My mom and I did talk about it afterwards since the encounter was a little blown out of proportion. You could tell how the husband was cringing at his wife's over reaction. Our later visits were fine and without incident. But our visit just this past Friday still bothers me. It was near closing time about 3:50 or so. A lot people were lining up last minute like us. Two people were ahead of my mom and I, one immediately served and the other browsing inside the store. Both notably white women. My mom and I waited until both women were served before coming inside the store. Behind my mom and I, an Asian mom and her son came inside, browsing around as they waited their turn. Immediately, the moment the Asian mom and son came in, the business owner's wife yelled at the mom and son to go outside of the store. Same yelling and type of off-setting energy as when the wife yelled at my mom for forgetting her mask. The poor husband was cringing at his wife's over reaction and was patient as usual in getting us our cupcakes. The cupcakes were great and still as consistent as ever. But the customer service is questionable given that my mom and I are Asian and given the same racism that the Asian mom and son faced. I understand on one level that things are tough and stressful for businesses right now but it sucks that the business owner's wife likes yelling at non-White customers. I've been coming to Yummy for nearly 10 years and this place still holds up! I took a break from it the last few years but, like old reliable, Yummy has definitely come in handy in a pinch. Their cupcakes are fun, super cute and still super tasty. The cake is moist, and there are also vegan options as well. I do have to say, they haven't been so friendly when I've come in recently... and it was pretty much empty the last couple of times I've been in. Fun and delicious cupcakes! I was on my way to another bakery when I stumbled across Yummy Cupcakes. The store was absolutely adorable and had an amazing variety of cupcakes (regular cupcakes, mini cupcakes, cupcakes on a stick, cupcakes in a jar, vegan cupcakes, gluten free cupcakes, cookie dough pops, etc.). Last February 20th, I placed an order for 6 cupcakes on the Yummy Cupcake online page for pickup on the 24th of the same month. The money was deducted from my card, and I assumed everything was in order. However, on February 24th, when I called the phone number provided on the online page, there was no answer, so I left a message inquiring about my order (which was never returned). I did not receive any messages from Yummy Cupcake regarding my order during those days; I only had the pickup time provided by the online page. I had to search for the address myself because they had at least three different addresses on Magnolia Boulevard. I went to Three Sisters Coffee and Tea (as the online message instructed me to do to find out where the pickup would be), and when I asked about my order, the employee informed me that they did not have any orders for pickup that day. I never received a cancellation email or any other notification; I only learned that they had canceled my order because my bank confirmed that they had rejected the payment at that moment (February 24th). At this point, I was frustrated and angry because the cupcakes were for my brother's birthday party on the same day. I had to look for another place on Yelp that could provide what I needed, and that's how I found Deja Vu Cakes. The people who assisted me there were kind and helpful and saved my brother's party.
