After having had a few more experiences with various SusieCakes locations, I can definitely say my review has downgraded. While the flavor variety is awesome and they don't skimp on fillings, man are these cakes typically dry and a little dense. Had the tropical coconut pineapple cake for a friend's retirement party in December and while the price of a small cake is steep, it was very good. I was impressed! Another friend and I debated what the best berry and cream cake was. I said WholeFoods. She said SusieCakes. We taste tested. We both stood our ground on our opinions. Last weekend,I had the strawberry cake at a birthday party and it was very dry and dense. And the baby's "smash cake" never really got any deeper than the frosting layer, which leads me to believe it was also dense. While I was doing my friend the favor of picking up said birthday cakes, I noticed the pineapple coconut was back in season, so I came to SusieCakes the next day to get a slice. Very friendly staff! But very dry cake. So disappointing after paying ten dollars for a slice. Overall, the vibes are always good. The flavors are great. But the texture is just not it. read more

Oh how I love thee. You can never go wrong with anything from Susie Cakes. Their selection of fun and amazing cakes, cookies and cupcakes are one to try. I've been picking up sweet from them for a while now. Normally it's for someone's birthday or even for a nice family outing. You can't go wrong with cake. This location is small but cute. Mainly street parking which can be a little bit of a hassle along Ventura Blvd but you can alway find street parking in the neighborhood. I stopped by last minute to pick up some cupcakes for a friend's kids. All the staff members were very sweet and friendly. Of course the weekend does get busy. There's a good load of choices which is alway a good thing. To make it easy, i just went with 6 of the classic flavors cupcakes. They do have seasonal items which are alway amazing. Also picked up a cookie sandwich and cupcake that were gluten free and flourless. It's good to have options in that sense. Not only cupcakes, their cakes are amazing as well. The different options are endless. When you like something, you tend to stick to it which is the classic celebration cake. Great for any occasion or just because. We ordered our gender reveal cake from SusieCakes Studio City and it was absolutely beautiful and delicious. The staff was friendly, helpful, and made the whole process easy. More recently, I walked in the day of my son's 4-month birthday and picked up a small cake. They added the inscription on the spot, which was super convenient. The cake was a great size for a small celebration, fresh, and we chose marble. It was a little sweeter than my personal preference, but still very tasty--and they offer plenty of other flavors to choose from. For our situation, the display cakes were a bit larger than we needed (especially when it's just two adults and a baby who can't eat cake yet). The smaller cakes require pre-ordering, which I now know for next time. I'll definitely be pre-ordering one for his 5-month birthday because it's the perfect size. Stopped by SusieCakes and tried the coconut cupcake and a slice of blueberry lemon cake. The flavors are really well done, the coconut tasted fresh and true, and the blueberry lemon had that bright, citrusy balance I love. That said, the cake itself was a bit denser than I expected. Every experience I've had at this location has been amazing. The staff is always so sweet and helpful with suggestions! Today I went in and the young lady working the front was so lovely and funny. You can tell she loves helping customers and was in a great mood which in result made my day so much better. Wish I got her name to shout her out ! The bakery is always so clean and smells amazing of course and every item I've ever gotten has been perfect. Super moist and flavorful, and never overly artificial tasting. While I'll touch on the actual food here too, I wanted to take a moment and give praise to the sense of community this place has fostered. My partner had been here a year or so ago, and they had remembered her, over dire circumstances. We talked about going on a hike earlier in the week once and without skipping a beat, they remembered. It didn't feel like we were just customers, in that this place genuinely is welcoming and encourages real human connection. With regards to their desserts, I must say that both their key lime pie AND snickerdoodles were amazingly delicious and crafted with care. I will happily exclaim that while I genuinely hate buttercream frosting due to it being sickly sweet, my partners birthday cake was decadent and came with a pleasant sweetness I've not known otherwise. Susie cakes is always an absolute BANGER in my household. The carrot cake is phenomenal. It's very dense, has TONS of filling (nuts) and is honestly so notable that I have to purchase one every time my parents visit. I also really like their seasonal items, I recommend checking out their online menu before ordering in person so you can really take time to scope out the cakes offered. The service is always friendly, I have yet to come across a bad experience here. It's very clean and calm.. I normally get overwhelmed at bakeries (lol) because of how much is going on. The displays here are nice and well kept so I haven't experienced that. 9.8/10! Only complaint is parking and price point read more

Very disappointed I spent $60 on a cake for my cousin and it was inedible we got confetti cake and it was super sweet we couldn't even eat it. Even the kids couldn't eat it. We attended a 2024 Christmas Eve party for 12 people, & ordered a 9" Merry Christmas green signature chocolate cake with a light Santa face, & chocolate buttercream frosting. The cost was $96 (included $5.99 cost for chocolate cake instead of their standard marble cake.) The cake had 6 layers, was beautiful, huge & very heavy to carry, & extremely tasty. Everyone enjoyed the taste, & asked for the bakery's name. Our group of 12 ate only 1/2 of the 9" cake, & many took sections of the cake home. I want to thank Fontelle at the Studio City store for her patience, kindness, & help in creating an online account on my cell phone so that I could earn Loyalty points. The store is small & clean. Been coming here for many years. The good: * I went on a pilgrimage for the best chocolate chip cookie in LA. Theirs is in the top 3 for me. * Great staff * Everything always fresh * The *cake* part of their cakes are great. The not good: * They used to have amazing pies. Now just the occasional one. Their mini Dutch apple was a gem. * They used to make great puddings. They don't make them anymore. * They used to make dazzling dessert bars. They don't make them anymore. * They used to have a variety of cookies. It's now just 2 or three varieties. * Their cake frosting is way too sweet, and way too thick. A tad less sugar, and a gentler touch would highlight the balance of their wonderful cake recipes. They used to have a broad variety of offerings. Now it's mostly over-frosted cakes and cupcakes, and a few cookies. I love the place, but often catch myself going down the road in either direction to other bakeries with a much wider variety of offerings. read more
