Finally tried SusieCakes after hearing so much about it, and I can see why it has such a following. The frosting is definitely the star of the show here. Their buttermilk frosting is so rich, creamy, and smooth with just the right amount of sweetness. The cake itself is pretty good, but honestly feels more like a vessel for all that delicious frosting rather than the main attraction. I tried the chocolate cupcake with vanilla icing, the coconut cupcake, and the chocolate cupcake with coffee icing. The chocolate with vanilla icing was my favorite by far. The chocolate cake had a nice flavor and paired really well with the thick, creamy vanilla frosting. The coconut cupcake was also good, especially if you like coconut, although the cake itself was a little stodgy and dense compared to what I was expecting. The chocolate with coffee icing was good as well, and I liked the slightly richer coffee flavor with the chocolate cake. Overall, I thought SusieCakes lived up to the hype, especially if you're someone who loves frosting. I think the frosting is what really makes these cupcakes stand out, while the cake portions are good but not necessarily amazing on their own. I'd definitely come back to try some of their other flavors, but I'd especially want to try more of the cupcakes with their buttermilk frosting. read more

I was going to have lunch next door, but I wanted to try SusieCakes first. I heard they have other locations. I have heard so much about this place and wanted to try it myself to make my own determination based on my own experience. Loved it from the minute I entered, until the minute I exited. Got there at 5pm and was helped by Kayla with a pretty smile. She wanted to see how she could help and what was it that I wanted. I got 2 nice sized cupcakes. One Coconut flavor, with delicious frosting, and the other one Red Velvet. Two of my favorite cupcakes. They make everything from scratch at their bakery. They have vegan, gluten free options and also regular options. They have a great selection of cakes, cupcakes, cookies, candles, and you can customize your cake or any other types of dessert in your own way. Place was very beautiful, clean, including all the windows. It doesn't have indoor seating. Got my cupcakes and left. Both flavors were so fresh and delicious. I took a bite of each. It was just a tad bit too sweet for me, but still delicious. Next time I'm willing to try the vegan or gluten free varieties. Other bakeries usually put way too much frosting on the cupcakes and it overpowers the taste of the cake for me. This was just perfect. Next time when there is a special occasion, I will NOT hesitate to order from this lovely, cute, quaint bakery. Thank you all..:-) read more

i've always had pleasant experiences at susiecakes at various locations, but studio city takes the cake (pun intended)! i called for a last minute cake order and talked to kayla over the phone and she helped to get my order taken care of, along with the support of the bakers/decorators. i didn't catch the names of everyone working, but all the people working on the evening of september 15, 2026 were incredibly kind. you could really tell they enjoy their jobs and each other's company. i'm glad this is my home location (: read more

Such a cute spot with so many different flavors! On display there were many different flavors including coconut, lemon, blueberry pancake, and the classics (chocolate, vanilla, red velvet). The staff was very nice and helped us with our pick up order. We picked up our order through 'Good to Go' and the process went very smooth. We got a dozen mini cupcakes and a big chocolate chip cookie. All of which were delicious. My favorite was chocolate and my sisters was red velvet! I would recommend so anyone! read more

Oh how I love thee. You can never go wrong with anything from Susie Cakes. Their selection of fun and amazing cakes, cookies and cupcakes are one to try. I've been picking up sweet from them for a while now. Normally it's for someone's birthday or even for a nice family outing. You can't go wrong with cake. This location is small but cute. Mainly street parking which can be a little bit of a hassle along Ventura Blvd but you can alway find street parking in the neighborhood. I stopped by last minute to pick up some cupcakes for a friend's kids. All the staff members were very sweet and friendly. Of course the weekend does get busy. There's a good load of choices which is alway a good thing. To make it easy, i just went with 6 of the classic flavors cupcakes. They do have seasonal items which are alway amazing. Also picked up a cookie sandwich and cupcake that were gluten free and flourless. It's good to have options in that sense. Not only cupcakes, their cakes are amazing as well. The different options are endless. When you like something, you tend to stick to it which is the classic celebration cake. Great for any occasion or just because. They also offer cake by the slice if you just wanted something small. Regardless on whatever you get, their sweets are always delicious. read more

We ordered our gender reveal cake from SusieCakes Studio City and it was absolutely beautiful and delicious. The staff was friendly, helpful, and made the whole process easy. More recently, I walked in the day of my son's 4-month birthday and picked up a small cake. They added the inscription on the spot, which was super convenient. The cake was a great size for a small celebration, fresh, and we chose marble. It was a little sweeter than my personal preference, but still very tasty--and they offer plenty of other flavors to choose from. For our situation, the display cakes were a bit larger than we needed (especially when it's just two adults and a baby who can't eat cake yet). The smaller cakes require pre-ordering, which I now know for next time. I'll definitely be pre-ordering one for his 5-month birthday because it's the perfect size. Overall, easy pre-orders, great walk-in options, beautiful cakes, and friendly service. A great spot for celebrations big or small read more

This is my Girlfriend and I favorite place to chill when we come to the Valley to visit family and friends. Their Red Velvet Cake and Carrot Cake slices are FIRE. I love Carrot Cake. Their Carrot Cake taste homemade. The Red Velvet Cake has a soft texture to it. A very light sweet taste, and not so heavy on the carb level. Nice employees and cool bakery in a good neighborhood. I cannot wait to visit again. read more

This was my first time visiting SusieCakes, and I'm so glad I did! I ordered a smash cake and picked it up on Wednesday. The whole experience was wonderful. Jackie was sooo sweet, friendly, and helpful! The cake was perfect and made the occasion extra special. I'll definitely be back! read more

After having had a few more experiences with various SusieCakes locations, I can definitely say my review has downgraded. While the flavor variety is awesome and they don't skimp on fillings, man are these cakes typically dry and a little dense. Had the tropical coconut pineapple cake for a friend's retirement party in December and while the price of a small cake is steep, it was very good. I was impressed! Another friend and I debated what the best berry and cream cake was. I said WholeFoods. She said SusieCakes. We taste tested. We both stood our ground on our opinions. Last weekend,I had the strawberry cake at a birthday party and it was very dry and dense. And the baby's "smash cake" never really got any deeper than the frosting layer, which leads me to believe it was also dense. While I was doing my friend the favor of picking up said birthday cakes, I noticed the pineapple coconut was back in season, so I came to SusieCakes the next day to get a slice. Very friendly staff! But very dry cake. So disappointing after paying ten dollars for a slice. Overall, the vibes are always good. The flavors are great. But the texture is just not it. read more

The manager Alex is an absolute hypocrite. She messed up my cake order and tried to place blame on me. My daughter's graduation was almost ruined. I use to be a huge fan of Susie's, but I absolutely will now go back after this stressful experience. read more

Staff was very friendly and was able to make me a gender reveal cake on very short notice. The cake was inedible. Way too sweet and very dry. We cut the cake and did the gender reveal but no one was able to eat the cake and it went directly in the trash. read more

Stopped by SusieCakes and tried the coconut cupcake and a slice of blueberry lemon cake. The flavors are really well done, the coconut tasted fresh and true, and the blueberry lemon had that bright, citrusy balance I love. That said, the cake itself was a bit denser than I expected. Not bad, just heavier than I personally prefer. The frosting is generous and beautifully done, but definitely on the sweeter side a little too sweet for my taste. Overall, solid classic bakery vibes with strong flavors. If you enjoy rich, sweet buttercream and a hearty slice of cake, this is your spot. read more

I love this location for easy access and the great businesses that surround it. It makes it so convenient when I'm getting a salad or sandwich from one of the other restaurants to pop in and get a cupcake or two. Service has always been friendly and helpful. Beautiful and delicious cakes. A bit pricy though. Excellent service. Convenient location.

I really love their cakes! The chocolate cake is a staple and their new banana chocolate chip cake is SO good I hope it stays a permanent item. I'm not a big fan of cupcakes in general I'd rather have a slice of cake so the cupcakes were just okay to me. The employees are very welcoming. Totally going back for the banana chocolate chip cake as much as I can. read more

While I'll touch on the actual food here too, I wanted to take a moment and give praise to the sense of community this place has fostered. My partner had been here a year or so ago, and they had remembered her, over dire circumstances. We talked about going on a hike earlier in the week once and without skipping a beat, they remembered. It didn't feel like we were just customers, in that this place genuinely is welcoming and encourages real human connection. With regards to their desserts, I must say that both their key lime pie AND snickerdoodles were amazingly delicious and crafted with care. I will happily exclaim that while I genuinely hate buttercream frosting due to it being sickly sweet, my partners birthday cake was decadent and came with a pleasant sweetness I've not known otherwise. I truly appreciate all the love and care I've seen come from this place, and it's my greatest pleasure to implore anyone with a sweet tooth to PLEASE give this place a visit. read more

Susie cakes is always an absolute BANGER in my household. The carrot cake is phenomenal. It's very dense, has TONS of filling (nuts) and is honestly so notable that I have to purchase one every time my parents visit. I also really like their seasonal items, I recommend checking out their online menu before ordering in person so you can really take time to scope out the cakes offered. The service is always friendly, I have yet to come across a bad experience here. It's very clean and calm.. I normally get overwhelmed at bakeries (lol) because of how much is going on. The displays here are nice and well kept so I haven't experienced that. 9.8/10! Only complaint is parking and price point read more

Great selection of baked goods, the Mocha cupcake is my favorite. The staff is wonderful

We were at a birthday party and they had bought some delicious goodies from Susie Cakes. They have delicious cookies! Their cookies are huge, too! For the price, they are definitely worth it. We attended a 2024 Christmas Eve party for 12 people, & ordered a 9" Merry Christmas green signature chocolate cake with a light Santa face, & chocolate buttercream frosting. The cost was $96 (included $5.99 cost for chocolate cake instead of their standard marble cake.) The cake had 6 layers, was beautiful, huge & very heavy to carry, & extremely tasty. Everyone enjoyed the taste, & asked for the bakery's name. Our group of 12 ate only 1/2 of the 9" cake, & many took sections of the cake home. I want to thank Fontelle at the Studio City store for her patience, kindness, & help in creating an online account on my cell phone so that I could earn Loyalty points. The store is small & clean. Limited street parking is available. Staff was great. read more

I love trying new bakeries and I was so excited to try Susie's as I've heard nothing but good things! As soon as you walk in, you're hit with a wonderful smell of baked goods and the display case is beautiful! You can order cakes, cookies, cupcakes and sometimes they have seasonal goodies! As it was our first time here, the woman working the counter was so kind and gave us a free cookie! We ended up getting a marble cake, strawberry cupcake and chocolate chip cookies My favorite was the cookies! You can really taste the brown butter in these and they are huge!! I go back every couple years hoping they've reverted back to their original moist and fluffy cupcakes, but instead they're a little dry and crumbly. The original recipe was very popular. It's a mystery why my once favorite cupcake shop chose to change a good thing. They certainly look good, but the texture is not. SLJ makes a really good cupcake, but they don't use buttercream. Sometimes it's best to leave good enough alone, especially when so many reviews reflect mine. read more
