10000/10 not enough stars! I was recommended by a family at the school I work for. I will definitely be back! I got to try the first time when the family brought the cupcakes! This time I ordered myself. You have to place an order in 24 hours in advance which I think is pretty good turn around for a bakery! You cannot just walk up to this place you have to order online. Recommended! I stumbled upon this place while searching for a bakery to buy a birthday cake. It was highly regarded so I was excited to try! I got their Chocolate Fudge cake and it didn't disappoint. It was a bundt style cake with a beautiful drizzle frosting. The cake was moist, not too sweet, and had bits of chocolate chips. I ordered online and the pick up process was easy. They are located in a business area and towards the end of a narrow parking lot. Looking forward to my next cake from them! read more

So glad I found this bakery on Yelp! Not only was the cake beautiful, it was also DELICIOUS!! It's hard to see in the photo, but the cake had edible glitter on the outside, it was simply BEAUTIFUL. Perfectly moist cake and the whipped cream was fresh and not too sweet. It was a perfect ratio of whipped cream to strawberries. The strawberries were amazingly sweet and fresh!They have definitely gained a new customer. Looking forward to trying other flavors in the future. This is my one and only bakery needed for any Birthday party going forward! Needed to order a delicious cake for a 40th Birthday. Ordered a 12 inch round chocolate frosting with yellow cake combo. That classic Birthday cake but ELEVATED. SO yummy, moist, Delish! people were asking to take extra slices home. We also ordered a range of cookies for the dessert table, and they did not disappoint! I was planning a spongebob themed 25th birthday party for my boyfriend (yes, spongebob). I needed a cake pretty quick at Ralph's and Albertson's has a copyright rule that I can't use pictures off the internet (even if I edited it myself... which therefore doesn't make it copyright, but what evs). I came here for a custom cake hoping for quick results. Not only was she helpful, but quick too. I was there for MAYBE 10 minutes only because I had to email her my image. We got a marble cake and it was so moist and delish. The best part, the frosting wasn't TOO sweet like how usual buttercream frosting is. When I went to pick it up, it was RAINING! She still offered to help me to my car, but I refused only because it was raining, I had an umbrella that only covers about a 7 year old child, and her chefs uniform was completely white. Although she did add that if I DO need help, she would be more than happy to help. Overall great service, kind people, and really nice job on the cake. Also, there's no store front so don't expect to see examples of cakes or ideas, it's only a counter to write down your order and that's it, the rest is the kitchen! read more

I was so happy to find Aunt Joy's Cakes. After being turned away by so many other bakers as I had a strange flavor combination (apricot filling and mocha buttercream) Aunt Joy herself said, "sure we can make that." They didn't just make a cake, they made an incredibly delicious confection. A perfect crumb to the sponge. The apricot filling was smooth as silk and I have to say, they make one of the best buttercream's that I have ever tasted. The entire staff was so great to deal with and the cake was beautiful. I first tried a cake from Aunt Joy's at a work event and was so impressed I asked where it was from and added a bookmark on Yelp. Several years later I finally had the occasion to order a cake of my own from Aunt Joy's, and the Berry Whip Cream cake was as delicious as I remembered! It's a white cake layered with fresh berries and frosted with whipped cream. The cake is light and fluffy and just the right level of sweetness. It sort of reminds me of the triple berry cake from Sweet Lady Jane's, but the cake texture is lighter compared to SLJ. And the price of course is less expensive. You can opt for pick up (free) or delivery (for a fee). We opted to pick up at their location in Burbank on Flower Street and it was quick and easy. I stored the cake overnight for a party the next day and it kept very well in the refrigerator. I also requested the cake be plain (undecorated) so we could decorate using fresh flowers. Will be back for more cakes in the future! read more

To those who love the Triple Berry Cake from Sweet Lady Jane's, be prepared for Aunt Joy's Berry Whip Cream Cake! Aunt Joy can kick Lady Jane's a$$ any day!! The cake itself was sooo moist and all the berries (strawberries, black berries, raspberries, and blue berries) were super fresh. The homemade whipped cream is what makes it stand out the most. It wasn't too sweet and it had the perfect consistency, it was like a cloud in my mouth. I was literally just picking out the fruit on top and adding a lot of whipped cream to it. I was addicted! I'm so glad my sister, Sharon B., got this cake for her birthday! They also gave her some complimentary cookies to taste and they were delicious as well! There were about 3-4 that I tasted and I liked them all. Just to note: This isn't your typical bakery where you can pick up an order there at the store. You need to call in ahead at least 24 hours because everything is made to order. Also they are only open M-F from 8AM-4PM. Definitely check their website out, they have lots of other goodies that I can't wait to try out. I think I've found the place for my wedding cake! Now how to snag a groom?!?! read more

Besides being extremely close to where I live, this bakery is awesome! From the ease of ordering to the customization to the taste. Everything was perfect! I called, told them my ideas and they said that it was no problem at all! And they came out exactly as I envisioned in my mind. I order 1 dozen chocolate cupcakes and 1 dozen vanilla cupcakes all with a custard filling and asked for lavender frosting and silver dust. So almost a year ago I had the most delicious cake ever and it was from here so I decided to make it my birthday cake for my 21st Birthday. I ordered a Chocolate whipped cream cake with strawberries. I was SO excited after waiting almost a year to get this cake. They didn't ask for any specifications about the order, they just gave me a total and asked what I wanted written on it. My dad picks the cake up and brings it home and it's white! They made the cake itself chocolate but because they didn't ask me to clarify they assumed I meant the cake and not the frosting/whipped cream too. There's a reason I didn't say chocolate cake with normal whipped cream. I said Chocolate whipped cream cake. Then I called them within their hours of business to try and figure something out and they never responded. So now I'm stuck with a $50 cake that wasn't even right for my 21st Birthday. read more

However, I spoke with the staff and you can't park there as it's reserved for a nearby bank. You can either park in front of the restaurant or its street parking.

They are a really tiny bakery tucked away in a tiny lot, but they have the BEST baked goods ever. I ordered a bunch of cake pops for a friend's party and everyone was raving. Their cookies are fantastic. I don't think there's anything they make that we DON'T like. Super fresh, too- they make things to order, so nothing is sitting around in a glass case all day. read more

We drove 2 hours in horrible traffic to their office in Van Nuys ( I should have taken this as a sign). At our first meeting, Ernae, the assistant, was very accomodating and was most helpful. She was taking copious notes and was asking us lots of questions to make sure that she understood what design we wanted for the cupcakes and the cutting cake as well. She even offered us ice cold bottled water (it was very hot that day) and gave us a dozen minis and 2 regular cupcakes of various flavors to take home and taste at no charge. The meeting ended on a good note and Ernae told us that she would probably have the sample available sometime next week. The flavors were: - red velvet with cream cheese frosting - vanilla bean with mocha cream filling and buttercream frosting - carrot cake with cream cheese frosting - banana with buttercream frosting - coconut with milk custard filling and coconut cream cheese frosting - lemon with lemon curd filling and cream cheese frosting - chocolate with dark chocolate frosting I am not going to lie. Their cupcakes were delicious. Our favorites were the vanilla bean with mocha cream, coconut with milk custard, and the lemon with lemon curd. The minis and the regular cupcakes were the right size and the frostings/fillings were not too overpowering. All the cupcakes were very moist without being oily and not too sugary. I emailed Ernae that weekend with new ideas for the cutting cake and she responded asking for some clarifications on the designs to which I responded. That was the last email/communication I received from her. I knew that they'd be very busy the week after so I waited a week and left her a message on her phone but no response. My fiancee even emailed her and to my surprise, she responded by saying she said would call the next day but never did. I even left a message for the owner, Julie, and she never returned my phone call. As Ross said in his review, they're not very prompt when it comes to responding emails/phone calls. Also, it's nearly impossible to reach them via phone since it always goes to voicemail. Additionally, to make things worse, their voicemail sometimes gets connected to a random gentleman's voicemail. I understand how difficult it is to run a small business on your own since I work for a small business as well, but come on, the least you could do is reply to my emails/phone calls or call back when you said you would. Even after all this, I was willing to give Blue Cupcake another shot since I thought, maybe just maybe, they were just having a very difficult time during those three weeks since they're a small company and maybe just maybe, my experience was just out of the norm. However, my fiancee convinced me otherwise since at this rate, they might not even show up with our cupcakes on our wedding day and I'd probably end up with a heart attack.
