Oh my goodness , I was so excited for this place, but we were very disappointed. The girl that I was emailing was very sweet and nice. I emailed her pictures of the cakes I needed for different occasions, and she got back to me promptly . One thing that stood out when she got back to me for the cake with the price after I agreed to the price she messaged me back and said well if you want it like that ( as I originally had asked for the price with fondant it's more expensive and then agreed) then she messaged me and said if you want the lettering on the cake as you had showed me its extra too, but then I agreed although I found it very unprofessionally done. The cake was extremely dry , didn't taste like vanilla , it tasted kinda funny and the icing tasted like pure butter . Every one of my guests took one bite and politely left their plate , and it was so embarrassing. The cake looked spotless but tasted like shit. Anyways I had some left over and after two days in the fridge I decided to take a bite and see if I had made a mistake and it was soooo gross it had actually changed it's taste to moldy. I have never had a cake go bad in two days in the fridge but I can't even be mad because it was so gross to begin with. I live in SF and was looking for a bakery in the Burbank area to make a Blue Angels themed cake for my son's second birthday. I contacted a few bakeries in the area, and ended up going with Half Baked because I loved their portfolio, and also because they were so responsive, very nice, and super excited about doing this cake. We ironed out the details about a month prior, and I just loved how super excited they were about creating this cake. No words to explain how talented this bakery is! The cake was amazing! Can you believe they crafted that plane on top with (I think) fondant? It came complete with details, such as the "Navy" and "Blue Angels" writing! My entire family was just blown away. At first glance, they actually thought it was a toy plane placed on top, until you look really close. Just amazing! I honestly didn't even care about what it tasted like at that point, but it ended up being a delicious cake! The best part is that my son LOVED it. We had to fly back home without any leftovers, but it left a lasting impression because he was asking for Blue Angels cake for the next several days. Each time I come in to the store they are always friendly and helpful, which is such a nice reprieve from the typical millennial "hurry up and leave" mentality that most businesses foster these days. Also beware of other "vegan bakeries" on Yelp as some are literally stay at home mom's baking in their kitchen...no joke! This bakery ruined my sons first birthday cake. I spent $600 on the cake that was supposed to be perfect. Drove all the way down to the bakery with characters I had purchased to be out in the cake. I spoke to the owner of how I wanted the cake to be done and where the characters were supposed to be placed. The day of the party the cake was delivered without the characters and I was very frustrated and upset. They sent another driver with the box of characters and I was inside getting my son ready and my guests were already there. The guy just placed the characters wherever he wanted instead of what I initially instructed which covered the customized topper I had brought and had placed on the cake. I finally came out and saw what had happened and I told him I didn't want them on the top. I told them to place the characters on the bottom. He then pulled them off which completely destroyed the top of the cake making it have dents and looked very messy. NOT to mention the cake was very dry not moist at all. I swear Vons cakes taste better. Very disappointing experience. The guy that delivered it ended up being one of the owners he said and would give a discounted refund for the unpleasant experience and ruining the cake. I didn't hear anything from them until I contacted them and the lady I had originally spoke to was very rude. Apologizing very coldly and laughing thinking it was not a big deal and offering me a 20% discount for my future order. I let her know I was very upset and will not be using them again as my son's first $600 birthday cake was supposed to be special and they destroyed it due to their irresponsibility. I told her I expect a refund for this huge disappointment. All the guests were asking why the top of the Cake looked like that and if it was dropped. The lady was just one of the owners started raising her voice at me over the phone as if she is the one that has the right to be more frustrated than me. I let her know that I was going to write this review and that I will no longer use their service and inform everyone else to be warned about this bakery. Very irresponsible and they do not take responsibility for their mistakes. Even though I clearly said I will not use your service again and I am not interested in a future discount but that they need to compensate me for the current situation just like any business with good customer satisfaction does. I have cameras all over my house the whole thing was recorded including the conversation. So I have proof that this happened and they cannot say any Differently to try and cover the mistake. I did not want to leave a review but the owner didn't mind and said go ahead and leave a review it's very clear that this place does not care about its customers nor their special events and are only about money. As a business owner myself this was a very shocking customer service experience. I do not recommend this place. I was hoping to use them for my upcoming events like my husbands birthday, my uncles police departments parties but I am taking our business elsewhere where they deserve and care about their customers. read more

I tried death by chocolate, honey lavender and dulce de leche. Death by chocolate was deliciously deep chocolatey and scrumptious. I love chocolate cake and they did a great job. The honey lavender was also amazingg. They put a dollop of honey in the middle, really good flavor! The dulce was my least favorite, it was tasty but it didn't taste like caramel to me.
