What a super-nice experience at Cake N Bake! The family has been craving cake for a couple days. I haven't done much baking because of the sweltering heat in SCV. I mentioned seeing Cake N Bake on Yelp a few weeks ago and the daughter went into a rabbit hole. She read reviews, looked at pictures and found TikTok videos. We're so glad to have finally taken the quick drive to Sun Valley. You can't miss the elegantly simple white building just before the corner of Vineland and Saticoy. We had a pretty good idea of our choices, but it was fun to look at all the tempting flavors. We chose... Dot Cake Birdie Tiramisu Vanilla-Crunchy Hazelnut Choco-Crunchy Hazelnut Choco-Nutella Banana Pudding Pear Our daughter could not wait to dive into the Dot Cake and she absolutely loved it. It was fresh with a wonderfully tender and moist crumb. The frosting was perfectly sweet. My husband had his favorite Tiramisu. He was very quiet as he devoured it. :) I had the Birdie slice. Beautifully layered with honey and custard, then topped with dark chocolate. All the flavors were distinct, yet all came together deliciously. I first heard about this cake bakery through TikTok someone posted a video; I found their location here in Glendale. The pop-up stand is in the Glendale Galleria near the escalators first floor across the food court and the store Garage. Melaine is the sweetest! She's so friendly too! She took the time to tell me the flavors of each cake cup available. I chose the Choco Oreo flavor, first bite and it's delicious! I would definitely go back and try the other flavors as well. Went in to buy a cake for a birthday celebration because I'm over places like Susie's & nothing Bundt cakes and was pleasantly surprised to find a hidden gem like this. My absolute favorite cake here, the honey cake is stand out, phenomenal. The first time I tried it, someone brought it to a party and I was on my way out and only was able to catch one quick bite. I gave this place a try because of all the positive reviews I saw from my Yelp compadres. Decided to get the gift box cake set for my bestie's birthday as I was having a difficult time choosing a cake flavor my friend. The gift box comes with a set of 8 flavors X2 = 16 cups total. Unfortunately, we were disappointed as their cakes were too dry and too sweet. 1. Spinach Cake (4/5) I'll give them kudos on the unique flavor idea. Never thought spinach would work in a cake/dessert, but they made it work. The cake part was a bit dry, but fortunately, this flavor was not too sweet. You can't really taste spinach flavor, but you do see the stringy-ness of the spinach fiber within the cake. 2. Spinach Lemon (2/5) Similar concept to the regular spinach cake, but the lemon custard they added make it too thick and creamy. The custard to cake ratio was way off, so it was not balanced in texture or flavor. 3. Carrot Cake (3/5) Tasted exactly like what you would expect from a carrot cake, but other than that, there is nothing special about it. The cake part was quite dry. 4. Choco Nutella Raspberry (3.5/5) They use chocolate cake here topped with nutella and raspberry. The chocolate cake was chocolatey, which I liked, but again, was dry in texture. The Nutella added the hazelnut flavoring, but made it taste too rich and sweet. Fortunately, the raspberries were fresh and refreshing. 5. Choco Cherry (3/5): All the way too sweet. I did not get the flavor profile of this cake. It tasted like fruit punch and liquor cherry on a bedding of dry chocolate cake. 6. Panna Cotta (1/5): Had a thick pudding-like consistency that was not only too thick, but was also too sweet & lacked any pleasant milk flavoring that you'd expect from panda cotta -- was very hard to swallow. 7. Tres Leches (4.5/5) Of all the flavors, this was our favorite. It was milky and not too sweet. Wish it had some cinnamon added in for more flavor. 8. Tiramisu (3/5) The flavor overall was light. Not a lot of coffee or cocoa notes. The consistency does have that whipped egg and mascarpone texture. For $80 ($90ish with tax), this is just NOT WORTH IT. Glad to have given it a try, but will not be coming back. read more

New to the area and randomly passed this bakery and caught my eyes. I checked the Yelp reviews and it was rated high and they had carrot cake so I had to stop by! From the outside, I loved the simplicity and sophistication of the logo. Today was extremely hot and as we walked inside we were welcomed with the blasting AC which we thoroughly enjoyed. I came in last Friday on a whim after finding them on Yelp with high star reviews and what transpired I wasn't ready for. Didn't know what to order and the guy working, who by the way might be the nicest person ever, guided me to the berry and honey cake. I only needed one and went with the honey cake. So I show up to dinner with this totally different and random cake and even tho I didn't know if it was good or people would like it, it's what was going down haha. They wanted details, what is it, where's it from, how is a cake like this made, hahaha. I only had one answer, Cake N Bake for the WIN! This cake was both interesting, delicious, and had incredible textures. Someone said it was like a French toast cake, another said it's like caramel cookies meet cake, but ultimately every single person was absolutely loving it!
