Catfish Combo

First of all ! This place is amazing !!!! The size of their catfish is mind blowing!!!!! Jammed pack with flavor and so so fresh. The service was quick and friendly. I briefly spoke with the owner and thanked him for his meal ! lol it was that good. I ordered the fried shrimp, catfish, mac n cheese and fried pickles. For my little one, i ordered the 2 pc combo chicken tenders and French fries. Soooo much flavor is every bite !!! This place is a little price I will definitely be returning.

2 PIECE COMBO

We came here for the first time and WOW this place did not disappoint! I ordered the 2-piece chicken tenders with double mac n' cheese and toast with their famous crack sauce. We also added a catfish fillet on the side. My husband went big with the 7-piece tenders, fries, mac n' cheese, toast, and crack sauce. For drinks, we tried the mango lemonade and watermelon lemonade. The portions were beyond generous everything was so delicious that we couldn't even finish, though we definitely tried! The chicken was crispy, juicy, and cooked with care, and the mac n' cheese was rich and comforting. The service was just as amazing as the food. I've seen some reviews mention the wait time, but honestly, the 20-25 minutes was more than worth it. Everything is cooked fresh to order, and you can taste the love and soul in every bite. As someone who used to work at a soul food spot in Las Vegas, I can say this place is the real deal authentic flavor, great portions, and a warm vibe. We'll definitely be back next week!

Excellent fresh squeezed lemonade! Just about the best Mac and cheese I've had. Love all the homemade sauces, especially the ranch which has fresh dill in it. This place is an unsuspecting delicious find.

I had the opportunity to visit Hale's Kitchen during their "soft opening" on Tuesday (02 August). Since it was just a soft opening, they were running with a limited menu. I chose to order the Shrimp Po'boy and fried pickle slices. I thought the po'boy was excellent. Everything from the hoagie roll to the fried shrimp, and the delicious sauce used in the po'boy was great! Unfortunately, I thought the fried pickles were a little soggy. I'm hoping that was a result of being in a new space and not having everything set up yet. We'll see if they can get it right after the Grand Opening this Friday (05 August). I am looking forward to seeing the new Hale's Kitchen up and running full steam ahead. It looks like they have a great little space. They even have a bar alcove in work in the back of the restaurant. When I asked about it I was told that the bar will open, but probably not in time for the Grand Opening.

Chicken Tenders and Mac n Cheese

We went for the soft opening after seeing that it was southern based. Being our 2nd day coming from the south, comfort would is always a go to. We set up reservations, ordering went smooth. I want to start off by saying the sweet tea is on point, and I would buy it by the gallon. Unfortunately the Mac n cheese and tenders were served cold, they informed us that a new batch just came out of Mac n Cheese, it tasted much better hot. I didn't bother with tenders, as I wasn't really impressed with how they looked compared to advertised photos. It's a soft opening so I'm not judging the food quality too hard. However the two younger ladies on staff were gossipy of customer's that we easily overheard. I understand being particular about where people stand while ordering, but it's unnecessary to complain about it with guests still dining in. Photo of tenders compared to sauce cup for size comparison. I would compare it to any other fast food joint out there, hit or miss. Could possibly improve after grand opening.

Affordable lunch burger and a beer? Yup. Fancy date night romantic dinner with craft cocktails? Heck yeah. Combining a casual, marine-themed ambiance with quaint La Conner vibes, and adding in some truly delish food and drink, there are few places in the area I'd rather eat. My favorite here is their bouillabaisse, with big pieces of fish, half a fresh Dungeness crab, sausage, and all the goodness cooked in their house-made broth. All I can say is: try it. Their raw oysters are also a favorite, but I can't say I've ever had a bad dish here. One time I swung out and tried their pork chop, which was truly sent from heaven. Their wine list contains several affordable options - on one visit our group enjoyed two bottles of an exquisite rose. And if gin is in your repertoire, don't miss the Empress Aviation which is not only pretty to look at, but quite tasty as well. Their happy hour features incredible drink and appy discounts, including half price bottles of wine. And I'd be remiss not to mention their friendly, lovely service. We always feel special when we visit. What's not to love about The Fork? I'm officially hungry now!

I was hungry and craving a shake, so I headed over in spite of the bad reviews. LISTEN TO THE REVIEWS PEOPLE. I got a burger and tots and a the smallest shake I have ever seen and I could not believe how expensive it was. I was literally shocked. To top it off, the food was lukewarm and didn't even taste that good. I also find it quite condescending, as I look at the reviews now, that the "business manager" responds to all the negative reviews (which make up the vast majority of their reviews by the way) with the same boilerplate messages. The management here obviously isn't interested in the customer experience or doing anything genuine to try and improve it. It's really a shame.

I wanted a salad but they were all $19+ and had meat on them and I asked if I could sub avocado instead of meat and the waitress said they would have to upcharge me? Sorry, what? You have to upcharge me on a TWENTY DOLLAR SYSCO SALAD?! I grew up on the island, so I am not some tourist who doesn't understand the prices here. I took my kids to eat here on a Sunday evening after a long day thinking it would be cheap quick diner food. It was over a hundred dollars for one adult and two kids to eat a basic diner meal- we had butter noodles, a grilled cheese, fries, and a 3pc fish and chips with 3 fountain sodas. NEARLY A HUNDRED DOLLARS BEFORE TIP. And their tip system had the nerve to ask me to add 20/25/30% on top of the outrageous prices?! It was insulting. I am not someone to complain about prices generally, but I had dinner for two adults at a fancy south end restaurant a few nights ago and we each had wine and it was about the same price. I was sincerely shocked by the prices for incredibly mediocre food. It almost felt like they were trying to prank us, honestly. Definitely do not recommend. The island has a lot of excellent restaurants that charge fair prices. This is not one of them.
