Lovely intimate restaurant with a solid menu. Wait staff could use a little pick me up. No one had a smile and most didn't look happy to be there. However, the food is for sure on point. Worth a try for sure!

This is a cute little fancy place in Montclair, perfect for celebrating a special occasion. We love seafood and enjoyed all our dishes. I recommend the salmon crudo, grilled octopus, and the ceviche special for apps. For entree we shared the seafood paella, which was loaded with clams, mussels, shrimp, and chorizo. There were a bit too many peas, however . Overall, nice experience.

Came here on a Sunday with my husband. We had reservation and they took us right away. It may take you a little bit of time to find street parking so make sure you plan for that. We ordered a rainbow roll as an appetizer which was delicious. that was probably my favorite part. My husband got the filet mignon, which he enjoyed, and I got the paella, which was also great. I like how portions were perfectly sized. They didn't skimp out on the seafood either which happens a lot at other places. The spicy margarita was tasty. I got the chocolate covered strawberries as a dessert, which was a nice way to end the night. Overall, a nice date night location.

Had lunch at Halcyon in Montclair and really enjoyed the crispy tofu bowl. The tofu had a great crunch, the rice was filling and everything felt fresh without being heavy. Portions were solid, service was friendly, and the space has a nice vibe. Would definitely order this again.

I went to Halcyon for brunch with my friend and I enjoyed myself. The ambiance was amazing. The restaurant has is so inviting. The outside has vines and flowers around with some lighting that lights up at night. It's very enchanting. The food was amazing. Jeff our waiter was outstanding. He was warm and friendly and he knew the menu very well. He even told us the special for the day. He also gave great recommendations. I love my guavallini, so delicious. My friend had the Amore Mio. That has champagne, raspberry and Limoncello. We ordered the special seafood quesadilla which including real fresh crab meat, shrimp and lobster meat. I have never had a quesadilla stuffed the way these were. So mouthwatering, flavorful and delicious. I also had the chicken and waffles. Hands down some of the best chicken and waffle ever. The chicken Jeff our waiter explained boneless chicken breast deep fried with two waffles. The chicken was drizzled woth sweet chilli sauce. I just loved the sweet chilli sauce on the chicken just the right amount of sweet and heat. The food was so good I could have picked the bowl. Brunch was amazing I could have ordered some more food. This place was definitely worth coming to. I plan to be back for the other specials while they are still around in season.

Stopped here as an in between spot from where I was coming from to where I would be headed. I had been here once before with a group of friends and had a good time. The decor and atmosphere is nice and chill. Music not overpowering; you can hear people talking. This time I sat at the bar. The bartender was a bit abrupt and unfriendly to start. I was deciding on my drink order and he came by curtly asking what I wanted. I replied with "I haven't decided yet." He walked off. I decided to order the same thing I did last time to eat, the smoked salmon plate. This time however, the salad looked a bit wilted and the cooked portion of salmon ( you get a smoked portion and a cooked portion) was overcooked. It was dry and hard to cut into. On top of that, the bartender was quite rude to another patron sitting near me. Telling her "You came in with an attitude." When she attempted to bring his behavior to his attention. I thought that was highly unprofessional. No matter what you and a customer disagree about, you don't say something like that. All in all, it could have been a better 2nd experience without that type of service/interaction I witnessed. In all fairness, the other bar helper was sweet and friendly. Would I come back again??? Not sure. Food was just ok this time. Unfortunately because I heard great things about this place as well as had a fairly good first time here.

This place just gets better as it ages with time. Iliana and Marshall are wonderful people running and outstanding restaurant. DaVinci still holding down the bar brings me joy. You can come here for after work drinks, a birthday dinnner, a lively private party, or an intimate romantic experience. Also great during brunch season. In the summer the patio is the place to be.

Great drinks, great food, great service! The place is really well decorated. I find the espresso martinis here to be the best I've tried in all of Montclair. Even if I'm out for dinner elsewhere, I'll definitely stop in for one here.

Went to Halcyon for Martini Hour and ended up staying longer than planned. Drinks were solid, not rushed, and the atmosphere was lively but still comfortable enough to actually talk. It felt like a nice step up from a typical happy hour without being stuffy. Definitely a good spot to stop in for drinks before dinner or to catch up with friends.

Larry was very accommodating, and helped compose a vegan dish from the setup of another dish. He was considerate to recommend something that would feel "substantial" - something that I really appreciated. It's already a bit inconvenient to come up with a dish on the spot, but to go the extra mile by caring that it would be satisfying as a main dish was really very kind. And it turned out fantastic. This restaurant has so much going for it in the quality of its ingredients and dish compositions. I would encourage the chef to consider how the can apply their creativity to a dedicated vegan dish as well. There's a big world to explore in creating modern, high end, plant-based dishes and I think this restaurant would hit it out of the park ! :)

From a food perspective, our meal initiated with a basket of some of the best rolls I had ever had. They were large, fluffy, and doughy with a hint of crispiness from a light toasting. We then shared the Veal and Beef Meatball, which was gigantic but still managed to have the ideal texture. It was also beautifully seasoned and served in what the chef called his "grandma's plum tomato sauce", which was divine! The sauce was thick and hearty, so when that was paired with pecorino cheese and basil oil, it really made for a fabulous dish. I even cut off a small piece to put inside my roll with a spoonful of sauce - chef's kiss! After that, we enjoyed some of the house-made pasta dishes, tasting each in a family-style format. The Squid Ink Bucatini was tossed with scallops, shrimp, and jumbo lump crab in a seafood tomato sauce. I did not love the briny finish to the sauce or that some of the scallops were chewy. The Tagliatelle with Duck Bolognese, tomatoes, and carrots was good, but I prefer my pomodoro sauce without the addition of a "light cream". Lastly, the special Spaghetti came with lobster, crab, and peas in vodka sauce. That one was definitely my favorite. While I do not love peas, the sauce was rich and flavorful. Across these last two dishes, I thought the pasta was a tad overcooked and could have been more al dente; the bucatini consistency was more inline with my preferences. Overall, I thought the food at Laboratorio Kitchen was above average, but that the service and atmosphere helped elevate the place. I would definitely consider going back to try some of their other dishes.

The portions are definitely what you'd call hearty, and everything was very tasty. Thursdays are all day happy hour so we picked the fried calamari appetizer at the HH price (still a full and generous plate and didn't seem like a downsized version) which were tender and well-battered, as well as the hot honey wings which were meaty and substantial. The short rib parpadelle with housemade pasta and a perfectly medium-rare, well seasoned hanger steak with truffle fries completed our satisfying and belly-stuffing meal. The beef was sliced perfectly, the salted crackled pork eaten with the beef and aioli were a lovely mouthful of textures and rounded flavor. The next course was a beet salad. The golden beets were just tender while still firm. For my main, I selected the Parisian gnocchi with truffle sauce. If I could have eaten all of the sauce with a straw I would have. The gnocchi texture had a nice slight crisp but the potato filling was a tiny bit overdone. The dish was very rich but somehow a bit fluffy. I was looking forward to trying a fish entrée, and since my wife chose the chicken which was actually very good I opted for the fish over the vegetarian option. I was surprised to see swordfish on the menu; it's not a bad fish, but it's rarely the most exciting choice given how many great options are available. The preparation was fine, just overall very underwhelming, especially considering the buzz surrounding this restaurant. Given the intimate size of the venue and the open concept, I was also a little surprised the chef didn't come by any tables. While certainly not required, but in a tasting-menu environment it's a nice touch especially since we had some reservation issues earlier in the evening and the hostess knew we were a little upset. A quick welcome or check in would have gone a long way.
