We really enjoyed our experience here! The pretzel was ENORMOUS--seriously, look at the picture with my fiancés hand for scale! It was warm, soft, and huge. The cheese dip was good but would've been better if it were beer cheese. Also, some areas without salt were a little bland, but overall it was a great appetizer. The spaghetti and meatballs were just okay. The pasta was a little lackluster, but the meatballs were excellent! The tuna appetizer was the standout for me. It was such a generous portion that it could easily be an entrée for some, and I could honestly eat this dish every day. Absolutely amazing! The ribeye was also fantastic and incredibly flavorful. In fact, we ate at a very expensive steakhouse in Atlantic City the night before, and I honestly thought the ribeye here was better. Not only was the steak better here, but our entire meal was better--and we spent about half as much here. That says a lot! The potatoes were roasted perfectly. The only miss for my meal was the carrots--only three small carrots and no seasoning. A larger portion with some cracked pepper or brown sugar would have been a nice touch. Our server, Ally, was wonderful--energetic, pleasant, and full of great recommendations. The staff constantly checked on us without being overbearing. The restaurant itself is beautiful, especially the faux flowers cascading from the ceiling. The bathroom is quite small, but that's a minor detail. My friends and I were at an event up the road at Montclair State and had an hour between workshops. Since the semester was over and it was a Saturday, everything was closed. We decided to check out this place, which we knew was brand new. I'd been to the previous restaurant in its location a while back, and it was dingy. This place is anything but. It's bright and tastefully decorated. The staff was friendly and understanding of our limited time. This is what we ordered: Caesar salad with grilled chicken - good, as expected. The grilled chicken was well seasoned. Calamari - delicious! It comes with charred pineapple and a sweet chili sauce Minestrone soup - comforting Truffle parm fries - tasty! Gathered here to meet my friends bridal party had a fun time! Food here was so good! I had the braised short ribs that melted in every bite. My husband had the spicy rigatoni, very creamy and delicious. We also had like a stuffed potato ball, not sure of the name but it was so good. Wow hidden gem!!! Very neat and clean. Not crowded at all for Sunday afternoon. For drinks they make awesome cocktails and have all the regular beers you can think of nothing special on beers. The food was AMAZING so good. The beef sliders were so good. The chicken Parmesan was huge and cooked perfectly. We had our child too here and they had a kids menu so very kid friendly. Even the dessert was very creative and delicious. Our server Allie was so attentive always checking on us and taking plates away when we needed her to. Refilled our waters regularly unbelievable service by Allie. I believe even the manager came to check on us to make sure everything was going well. We will definitely be coming back here. read more

This was the old Alexus Steakhouse. It is all redone and looks very sleek but comfortable. There is a large parking lot and the inside is large. There is a huge front bar with tables and lots of tvs. The dining room is nicely redone and tastefully decorated. You can hear the music from the bar, but I didn't mind because it was good music. Our waiter Miguel was great and explained everything perfectly. The drinks and food were quick to arrive, beautifully presented, and the dishes had different complimentary flavors in each dish that worked well together. I especially liked the cauliflower with pomegranate seeds and hummus. Everything we had was delicious. read more

Came here on a Friday night for Trivia night. The overall vibe here is nice - drinks were delicious but the food was mediocre. We ordered the bavarian pretzel that came with horseradish mustard and cheese - the cheese was more in the consistency of cheese water. You can tell the dip broke or was heated up multiple times. The smashed avocado was delicious and the buffalo wings as well. The entrees were OK. My Cosmopolitan was delicious, but my partner wasn't able to get the drink he wanted because the bar wasn't fully stocked. I don't usually review really new restaurants on my first visit, as they are understandably not fully tuned yet. Having said that, I won't be going back so here's what they can't fix. LOUD. It's like an echo chamber. Cold decor. Too many TVs. Give them a try yourself if these things don't put you off. I will say the best salad was very good. read more

I went on a Tuesday evening with my wife and daughter. I really had high hopes but it just didn't deliver. There was only one other couple in the restaurant. We ordered the big pretzel to start. It was okay but should have been crispier. It was kind of soggy and had way too much butter rubbed on it. I got the chicken Milanese. That was decent but nothing special. My wife got the Dante salad with chicken. The salad was very wilted and had way too much lemon dressing (like it was sitting in the dressing all day). The chicken on the side was inedible. It just didn't taste fresh and was rubbery. My daughter got a BLT that was very boring with hardly any bacon and the fries were also soggy. The servers were friendly and attentive...granted we were the only ones in the restaurant. Hopefully they can turn it around because it's a great space and would be a great alternative to the busy Montclair spots. read more

The once Alexis Steak House is now Dante's Restaurant there were 8 of us so the Critique will be lengthy. 2 of my boys at the end of the table ordered the Ribeye Steak they stated the it was seasoned and cooked perfectly, they also stated that the server made it a point to say that any sides quoted in the menu would not be included with ur meal. All sides would be a separate "à la carte" charge. All sides were listed at 10 bucks. Changes to the menu would be coming soon.Myself and a neighbor had the Dante Steak Sandwich, we agreed that it was not what we expected, It was slightly overcooked skirt steak on seeded French bread, onions were minimal and who puts goat cheese on a steak sandwich.Sorry but won't ever be ordering that again. My wife and another neighbor had Braised Short Ribs on Butternut Squash, it was delicious, however the portion was of appetizer size, hardly enough to feed a full-size grown man. The Dish of the nite was indeed The Pork Chop. At least 2 inches thick and a real nice size. Beautifully seasoned and tasted great, tender and juicy. BTW the chop came out over cannelloni beans and spinach which also was delicious. We arrived on time for our 7pm reservation, they told us our table wasn't ready and to head into the main bar area, somewhat crowded and music was Loud. We were taken to our table 725pm, Server was very nice and to me I think she did well she seemed a lil under the gun probably because it seemed to me they appeared understaffed, we got up and headed to the exit at 940pm, much longer than we anticipated being there. Ask me where do I wanna eat, Dante's won't be my first choice. read more
