Their sauces are my favorite.. the white sauce is garlicy and creamier than most tzatzikis, or get a little kick with the hot suace or creamy jalapeno. The gyro meat and rice plate is really a delicious and filling meal and my go-to. The plates are eight dollars, and the wraps are 5-5.50. And the fries come with the perfect seasoning on them. First time trying this place, the restaurant had an odd smell almost like cleaning products mixed with the smell of old food. The cashier and rest of the kitchen staff were not friendly in the slightest, the girl cashier kept giving me side way glares. The food took a long time just for one falafel wrap, they also whispered that they were out of the sauce that they usually give in the wrap to each other, instead of just telling me then I would have happily ordered something different. The falafel wrap itself was extremely dry and almost tasted a few days old? Very grainy and no flavor. As someone that works in food service I'm not trying to hate on this establishment as I know how hard it could be but, the staff and food definitely needs work on. Good wings here 10/10 on the way they were fried to perfection nice and crispy. 6/10 on the flavor tho. I ordered lemon pepper and garlic Parmesan expecting them to be a nice saucy content but they were more of a dry rub with not much seasoning. Food tasted fresh but lacked originality and felt a bit franchised. We ordered a gyro and rice platter(p2). Both dishes were ok. Definitely not a place that I would come back for. I am still as in love with the food here as I stated in my last review, but I am dropping a star simply because of the poor service I received the other day. It was around 9:20 (they close at 10) and my boyfriend & I ordered "for here" because our A/C is broken and we wanted to enjoy a meal in some cool air. After we ordered, the server turned off the lights as we sat down as an indirect way of letting us know they were closing soon. She then put our meals in to-go boxes before serving them to us. At this point we were slightly annoyed and decided to just take it to-go anyway, and she already had a bag ready! On our day off, we always like to search for a new restaurant or places that have not been. I have been craving for some Mediterranean food, authentic, robust spice, harissa, tatziki, baba ganoush, and a nice hummus. This place concept is interesting, it's like fast food style you order at the counter and you pick it up as well unless you happen to not be listening when your number is called. All the dinnerware are plastic and styrofoam. The menu is 25 items or less. The place is clean and colorful. We had the baba ganoush, hummus and tatziki for starters. The only downside about this that all your food comes out at the same time. The baba ganoush has smokey note from roasting the eggplant perfectly salted, the hummus is creamy, tatziki was also good. The flat bread that comes with our deep is a bit chewy, hoping it would have been fluffier. We ordered the chicken k bob and the shawarma plate. The k bob was the best! Flavorful chicken, rice is very fluffy and definitely long grain rice, it has all the right spice that scream Mediterranean, the parsley salad is perfect sour note to it to cut the richness from our meal. The shawarma plate was ok, shredded chicken texture is weird maybe because it was shredded. The cucumber salad that came with the plate was refreshing. We ordered 2 chicken k bobs to go, it was that good. Over all we would come back again. We hope the bread would change it's texture. Downside is all this plastic ware is not good for mother earth. This place is pretty good - heaping amount of rice and meat and some salad. They have a spin with the jalepeno white sauce which is pretty good, though not overly spicy. The falafel are delightfully well flavored and crisp but a bit on the small side. That said, I think it is a bit greasier than some of the other halal type places I've been to. It gets to you once you eat so much of that rice. Also I think the portions here are smaller...more salad and less meat and rice, which is moreso what I care about. My bf and I got the P1 and P2, and like halal it's a foil container with rice, a little salad (cucumbers, lettuce, tomatoes, and red onion), choice of meat, and some sauces. Both were mehhh. While the quality of the food itself is higher than halal bros, the meat was wayyy over seasoned for us (and we both like salty food). Portion wise it is comparable to halal bros, but I think halal bros gives more rice and meat while halal corner gives more vegetables. There was so much lettuce, which I don't mind but a lot of it was the butt of the romaine lettuce and some leaves were yellow. The jalepeno sauce was good and not too spicy. In general both P1 and P2 were good in terms of their sauces. Customer service I'm not too sure about, but they were fast and nice on the phone. The place was clean, but I called ahead and ordered to go! Meat is good quality but way too over-spiced. Not worth the drive, especially when I-35 is really crazy. Great to try especially if you want a different sauce (they have a jalepeno sauce) and if you are in the area. I just don't see myself coming really more than this once. read more

Great and fast service, with excellent flavor (even compared to the other Halal Cart NYC imitations in the city). The P1 with creamy jalapeno sauce is my usual order, with chicken, rice and salad, but you can't go wrong with a veggie bowl (love it with fried cauliflower) or a falafel wrap. The staff is incredibly nice, and no matter how busy the restaurant is, are happy to customize your plates for you (often at no charge). I usually end up getting a P1/P2 combo, and plan to branch out to trying a combo meat plate on my next visit...which I say every single time, and end up getting the P1 with chicken because it's so good, every single time. read more

This new 'chicken and rice' place in Mueller was recommended to me by a friend. It's very similar to the popular Halal Guys in New York but priced at a couple of dollars higher. Overall, it's delicious and worth eating...regularly! Some observations: +Very generous portions that could feed two light eaters easily (for $8) +Just one streak of red sauce makes the dish pretty spicy; it had a nice kick to it +Lots of green veggies to mix with the creamy white sauce, meat, and rice (I recommend eating everything mixed together) -The front counter staff seem inexperienced and not particularly nice -It's not open late like Halal Bros near campus and downtown are -The gyro meat was a bit too salty. The beef shawarma and chicken was better flavored IMO. Very good addition to the neighborhood. I'll be back! read more

Halal Corner is AWESOME. I am so glad this place popped up in my neighborhood because it basically just became my new favorite place. (I know, I say that about a lot of things, but I really mean it about Halal Corner. This place is going to become my new Tarka.) I ordered the P1, which comes with your choice of meat (chicken for me), creamy jalapeño sauce, basmati rice, and salad. I asked for no salad and they let me have extra rice instead. Score! (I seriously do not like lettuce, even though I love all the other vegetables.) The food came out lightning fast and the order was huge. There's like two to three meal's worth of food in each order! The food itself was seriously delicious. I mixed all the sauces together with my rice and it was so tasty. The red sauce was great and had a nice spice to it, so I'm definitely going to ask for more of that next time. The rice is seasoned really well, even without any additional flavors from the sauces. The chicken was not dry and was also very well seasoned. I love that all the chicken was cut into small little pieces because then I don't have to deal with any huge chunks of chicken and it mixes together well, evenly distributing all the parts of the meal. Each bite had a nice chicken to rice ratio. (I wouldn't complain if it didn't, because I love rice, but some people care about that sort of thing.) I ate as much as I could and didn't even get halfway through, but that means delicious leftovers for work the next day. Two meals only cost $17 with tax - super cheap! So, you basically get four meals for two people for less than $20. Or, if you're dining alone, two or three meals for less than $10. You just can't beat that. The restaurant itself was very clean, service was friendly and helpful, and it looks like they give out generous samples if you're unsure of what to order. They also have a wide selection of drinks and I'm excited to try their hot mint or cinnamon tea the next time I go. They also have desserts that looked pretty good, too. I can't help but compare this place to Halal Bros on Guadalupe... I mean it's mainly the same thing right? Well, it depends on what you get. Most people get an 'over rice' dish at Halal Bros, and most people get that here too. The meat is flavorful, and the portions are plentiful. The one thing that stands out between this place and Halal Bros is the Jalapeno cream sauce, which is pretty bomb itself. Lots of seating here, good temperature, wait is reasonable...yeah, there's not much else to be said. Been here 3 times already and has been pretty consistent too. When you do it right, there's not much to criticize or change. However, this place doesn't have anything that makes me go WOW, or highly recommend to anyone visiting ATX as one of the 'must places' to go, ya know? It's nothing new really, or nothing different for that matter. 8.5/10, would definitely come back again and recommend to afriend. read more

There is plenty of parking and this is a normal chainy looking interior with booths and tables. I chose the P2 because I was told that the white sauce was garlicy! It comes with your choice of meat or vegetarian option over seasoned basmati rice and salad. I chose the chicken shawarma and gyro meat. You order at the counter and then they deliver it to the table. The service is very friendly, efficient and they will explain tastes and textures to you. I was surprised that the salad came topped with the same white sauce as the meat and rice side of the dish. To me the sauce complimented the meat well but, was too overpowering and rich/thick to be a salad dressing. The chicken was juicy but, the gyro meat was a bit on the dry side. Even though the sauce complimented the meat better than the salad it still overpowered the flavors in the meat but, maybe they put too much on. I think next time I will go for a bowl of the rice with the white sauce on it and leave it at that. read more

Pros: -our food came out in a jiffy -P2 combo with White House Sauce was what I ordered. Their curry rice was done perfectly. The salad on the side to mix with everything added crunchiness and freshness. The tomatoes added just the right acidity to everything! Basically, it was amazing! -I thought the P1 jalapeño dish would be overwhelmingly spicy, since P2 already had spicy red sauce, but I was surprised to notice that it just had a completely different taste with no difference in spiciness. It was equally delicious! -if I compare my dish to pictures in previous reviews, I notice that there is less red sauce in my dish. The proportion of spicy sauce and everything else was just right! -everything is very inexpensive for the portion you get. The P1 through P3 are 7.99, the BBQ plates are 8.99, and the HUGE wraps are $5.49! My sister and I each had leftovers to take home! Falafels are 50 cents each! That's a steal! -there's plenty of seating as well as outside seating. I like the high ceilings and blue walls. -Like them on Facebook and get a free drink! Cons: -I think to better accommodate most people, the red sauce could be served on the side. If you don't like spiciness, remember to ask them! -there was something in my husband's food that he didn't ask for, so he took it back to the front and told a staff worker. As a fan of the original Kismet Cafe near the UT campus, I was more than excited when Halal Corner opened up in the Mueller area. Every time I've been here the staff has been exceedingly helpful and even offered samples of their mint tea. I typically get the P3 (Gyro Meat or Chicken Shawarma) or the Gyro Wrap depending on how hungry I am. The plates are quite filling since they come with rice, hummus, and pita. If you're in a rush, I'd recommend getting the wrap since the plates can sometimes take a little longer. Be careful exiting westward onto Barbara Jordan Blvd. because you cannot turn around before hitting the frontage road unless you cut through the Home Depot parking lot. read more

Real Mediterranean and Middle Eastern food at Mueller?! With genuine cultural music?! And the staff was extremely attentive and really friendly?! I had to make a Yelp account for this. The gentleman who took our order and served us went out of his way to explain the food and crack jokes :) Our food took over 15 minutes to arrive, which is longer than we expected. It tasted completely fresh, so we let that slide. However, it would've been nice if they'd brought both our dishes out together. We did come in during a slow time, (one kitchen guy actually shot us dirty looks because they were only an hour from closing), so overall we were treated pretty royally. As for the food itself?! Well, first of all, check out my pictures. We got a Caesar salad ... Double meat: full portions of chicken and gyro, not half of each! I'd say there were too many croutons, and the chicken was just a tad dry, but the gyro meat was perfect and the romaine was dope. **By the way, I think if you get a salad with just one meat for 6.99, that's the best way to get the most bang for your buck at this place!** We also got the P5 or shawarma Arabi which is basically a pita bread roll stuffed with roasted chicken, fries, and garlic mayo. Now, garlic mayo might sound strange, but it tastes great with this stuff. This dish came with a pretty good hummus on the side, as well as an interesting salad called tabouleh, plus more fries, more garlic mayo, and more pita bread. The fries on the side tasted pretty mediocre, but we weren't there for that! We had to ask them for another cup of garlic mayo because dipping the Arabi bread roll in that stuff is a taste of heaven! The Halal Guys in NYC (53rd street I believe) is the gold standard for this type of platter. The secret of course is, not just in the meat but in the sauces as well. The sauces can make or break a good platter. This is the only place in Austin that I have found that does an outstanding job with the sauces. The spicy sauce (red) and the white sauce to counterbalance the spice, are close to perfect. They offer a 'creamy jalapeno' version of the sauces - which is amazing as well. I just got back from several months in the middle east and this food is on par with the better restaurants I ate at out there. We need more places like this in the US. I got the P1 combination with kefta kebab and beef schwarma. The P meals come with a salad. The meats sit atop a bed of yellow rice and is covered in a tangy sauce. Both the meat and the rice were well seasoned. The salad vegetables were fresh. This is great food. Staff is a little awkward I guess because they clearly aren't from the United States but from the regions where this food comes from so just be friendly and they will be friendly also. Every time we come to the mainland we have to have a falafel. Our choices are rather limited at home, so we make it a priority. We did a Yelp search to see what was in our area and this place popped up. We had eaten at their food carts in NYC before and thought they were ok, so we decided to give them a try. Parking was very easy, they had plenty of indoor air conditioned seating, and everything was very clean. You order at the counter and then take a number and seat yourself. We each ordered the falafel sandwich mine regular, and my husband's spicy. We ordered a side of fried cauliflower and fries as well. Our food came in a timely manner and the girl working the counter and delivering our food was friendly. I loved the cauliflower with the dipping sauce. I'm not quite sure what kind of sauce it was, but it was really yummy and creamy. The falafel was kind of bland in my opinion and I ended up using a lot of the hot sauce to give it some taste. I also thought it could definitely use more tahini and hummus as it was kind of on the dry side. My hubby agreed except he said his had some good flavor to it as he ordered his spicy to begin with. Lesson learned. I ended up adding the sauce from my cauliflower to my falafel and it was pretty good after that. The fries were a hit with the kids. It was a great place to eat since it was close to where we were staying, but we will probably try somewhere else next time. read more

Delicious! I stopped by Halal Corner before heading out of Austin, and I really loved the food there. The portions are huge and only $8 for a plate. I ordered the P1 plate with chicken -- it was flavorful, spicy, and the rice and chicken were made really well. It came with a really large salad also that balanced out the rice and chicken nicely. I also got their Lime and Mint juice; it was a bit too tart after a while, but refreshing with the meal. As for the venue, it seems to be new and really well-maintained. It's large, spacious, and clean, and there's plenty of parking (unlike Halal Guys). read more
