After coming to an event at Kabobzis for our Lebanese family reunion lunch, my husband and I couldn't wait to comeback and try other dishes and indulge in the amazing pita bread. I was hoping it would taste as good as the kibbee and tabouli and hummus. To our surprise, everything we ordered tasted even batter ! Coming from Houston and knowing our homemade Lebanese food well, finding a restaurant that could satisfy our Mediterranean cravings has not been easy. At kabobIs, we have success! The chicken and gyro platter was delish. We ordered rice and hummus for our 2 sides. Since we also ordered the Lebanese Chicken schwarmawe had a third side which we got the tabouli. When we comeback we will definitely keep either the Greek salad or Tabouli because the cool veggies elevates the taste of every thing. Such a tasty dish that surprised me it was not made at home. Even the baklava was BETTER than our family recipe. Try the cashew. We already have a shortlist of friends family and neighbors we can't wait to introduce this place to. Thank you Riley for making the experience so personal and fun!

I was very excited about coming back to try something new. We ordered the splash garlic chicken (for 2), with hummus, baba ghanouj, and rice. Do not get this unless you love garlic and lemon sauces. It tasted great, but we were expecting to see more chicken pieces. They bring it out on a sizzling skillet so everything smells great and you get real hungry real fast. The service was excellent, as always. We loved eating here but we will consider ordering to golf needed. Highly recommend getting your date or family here to enjoy the vibe.

Overall; a solid Mediterranean spot. My family and I went there so we were able to try several different dishes. The gyro meat was fantastic, the beef was a bit dry, as well as their beef kafta was also a bit dry. It isn't super rare for kafta to be a bit dry, but this was more dry than I've had before. The typical hummus, baba ghanoush, etc. were all on point! The service was super friendly, but a bit slow. Also, the value for what we got was quite nice. It's a nice family run spot. If I was in the area, I'd go back. Overall, a solid spot.

Ah, the Phonecian! You just can't go wrong here! Family owned and operated, the vibe is welcoming and warm and exudes from the friendly staff, which is in contrast to the actual decor that is less so, a soft party beat wafting through the speakers is nicely uplifting. But who cares about that? How's the food?!? Amazing. Always. Today I got the perfectly crafted gyro wrap and savory and creamy batinjan (grilled eggplant). Eggplant is one of my favorite foods and I appreciate how poorly it can be prepared. If you're on the fence with aubergine dishes, give this one a shot.

6 months I've lived in Austin right across from this place and I can't believe I haven't been inside. From the friendly service to the incredible dishes this is an absolute must. Walking in being greeted immediately was very nice since it was my first time here and the seating I wasn't so sure about. When we sat down and they handed us our menus i was very surprised when I opened it up and they both sides of the menu light up like a iPad screen. When they came around to take our order we weren't exactly ready and they told us that they had a QR code to scan that not only had pictures of every meal but a more detailed description of what the menu offered. I have never been to a place that offered it was very surprised! But I have to say that the star of the show was definitely their food. The Gyro fries were seriously too good. They used this amazing seasoning sauce on the fries and on top placed a bed of gyro meat with tzatziki sauce and it was only $14 for a big plate of it. on top of it all we walked out spending less than $40 with tip. I will never stop being amazed but the amount of good places on Guadalupe and this is no exception. If you're by the drag, stop by and try some of this!!

We wanted Mediterranean. We didn't want to pay a lot or fight for parking. KabobZi fit the bill, perfectly. They have a small but workable parking lot, very reasonable prices, a varied but not overwhelming range of options. Most importantly, our meals were delicious and the portions generous. We both ordered Gyros. He got the platter, with Greek Salad and Hummus, while I went for the Fat Bread Gyro wrap with fries. When we realized we needed more tzatziki sauce, our server was quick and friendly about bringing plenty more. And The Man got a pleasant Pinot Grigio with his meal. He was disappointed they had no Retsina. I was relieved cuz that's some nasty turpentine-smelling stuff. Good. Solid. Med.

Some of the best Greek food I have ever had. I got a vegetarian plate and it was wonderful and far more than I could eat. Spousal unit got a gyro and that was massive. Service was knowledgeable and exceptional. Ambiance was no frills but tasteful and comfy

Their kafta kabob and mixed grill combo were delicious. The kafta kabob was flavorful. It came with a side and I asked for the baba ghanouji which is made with eggplants. The mexied grill combo had chicken that was still juicy. The steak that came with it was delicious too and tender.

The best Greek food you can find in Austin. Their pita bread machine is up and running now! It is the best homemade bread especially with the hummus. I highly recommend the gyro and the greek salad. Portions are great for the price.

We were greeted as soon as we walked in the door. The woman who greeted us was friendly and seemed to be running the front of the restaurant all on her own. She cleaned our tables, brought our menus and water, and took our orders, all while waiting on the other patrons at the same time. I was part of a group of 5. I ordered grape leaves to start since they are one of my favorites. They were warm and delicious, with just the right amount of tartness at the finish. I loved that they were served with Kalamata olives. I was especially glad that I ordered them when the rest of the table's dinner arrived, minus mine. I had made some dietary modifications to my order, so this was understandable. Everyone else at the table complimented the quality of the food. I ordered the beef shawarma bowl. The combination of warm shawarma with cold Greek salad in the same bowl was interesting and efficient. I appreciated that they took my food modifications- no cucumbers, onion, or garlic sauce, without missing a beat and delivered beautifully. A great place to visit if you enjoy Mediterranean food and great service.

This place opened in the neighborhood over a year ago, but I had not yet been in because the outside is less than welcoming. After looking at the menu, we decided to give it a try. The food was good, but a little pricey for what it was. Some traditional Mediterranean sides like tabbouleh were all $2 extra when added on to plates. I chose the chicken shawarma plate with Greek salad. The salad was just basic greens, not what I expected. My friend got a wrap, which was a little dry but tasty. Service was prompt and friendly, but the atmosphere leaves a lot to be desired. Very sterile feeling environment even though they've added some things to the walls. The seating and chairs were super basic, as was the limited decor. Really not a place I'd want to spend much time in or go out for dinner. Pretty sure I will not go back, but might try takeout.

I was really craving Mediterranean food and this meal did not disappoint! We initially had to wait a few minutes because there was no one there to get us seats. However, for the rest of the meal, our server took great care of us! We ordered a mixed plate, two chicken shawarma platters and a chicken wrap. Everything was fantastic and paired well together. The chicken was juicy, succulent and served on a bed of rice, it was something to die for. I loved the different sauces they had and a special shout-out to their baba ganoush. Their serving sizes were great and we ended up packing food despite all of our overeating. Definitely a must try for Mediterranean food in the area!

Fresh pita & dips (free) - 5/5 As soon as we sat down the waiter brought out pita and a special dip that I never tried in other restaurants, and the pita was still warm like it had just come out of the oven. Soft, fluffy, and really fresh. I used it to dip into the sides we ordered later--the Baba Ghanouj and Hummus. The baba ghanouj had that roasted eggplant smokiness, while the hummus was thick, creamy, and very sesame-forward. Both were solid. Flatbread Trio ($15) - 5/5 This comes with three pieces but you can order a plate of three in the same kinds: meat, za'atar spice, and cheese. The za'atar one had that unique flavor--thyme, sumac, sesame seeds. The cheese flatbread came out hot and stretchy with three cheeses melted together. The meat one had minced beef and vegetables on a thin crust with slightly crispy edges. This one really impressed me. Lamb Kabob Platter ($19) - 4/5 Ground lamb mixed with onion and spices and grilled. The texture was fairly firm and the seasoning was pretty strong--you mostly taste the spices rather than the lamb itself. It comes with grilled tomato and onion, which adds a nice bit of sweetness and balances things out. It also comes with 2 sides--we chose baba ghanouj and hummus. The sides portion is really generous. Mixed Grill Combination ($23) - 4.5/5 It includes beef tenderloin, kafta skewers, and chicken shish tawook. The beef had a nice smoky grill flavor and was quite tender. The kafta had the strongest seasoning, and the chicken ended up being the lightest and juiciest of the three. It also comes with 2 sides--we chose baba ghanouj and salad. House dessert (pistachio pastry, $6) - 4/5 Looks pretty simple, but inside there's pistachio filling that gives it a really nice nutty sweetness. Not overly sugary, which I liked. I hope it could improve its appearance a bit. The food felt comforting and homey rather than fancy, and the portions were generous for the price.

It's one of those places that's reliable and feels pretty consistent, knowing you're going to leave happy and full after eating here. The two times we've been there, theres always plenty of seating and are able to walk right in. It's a walk in and seat yourself experience and then you pay upon leaving. The staff keeps the dining area and buffet line consistently stocked and clean. They even provide hand sanitizer and gloves for you. Even when foot traffic picked up while we were there, the food was replenished quickly and didn't look picked over. Now let's talk food...Everything tastes fresh, well-seasoned, and like it was made with care instead of just being "buffet food" an under seasoned. The variety is also amazing, and it's easy to build a plate for pretty much any type of diet whether you're keto, high protein, balanced, veggie-forward, vegan, etc... Some of our favorite dishes we keep coming back for: Shredded beef (SO good), Baked fish (tender and not fishy), Garlic baked chicken (wonderful crispy skin), Fried chicken, Baked kafta, Kafta kebab, Gyro meat, Roasted cauliflower, Eggplant, Greek salad, Fatoush, Kale Caesar salad, Zaatar pizza, Cheese pizza (pro tip: top it with shredded beef- a life changing buffet hack), Rice with lentils, Rice with mixed veggies. For the quality, variety and amount of food you get, this is easily one of the best deals in the city! It's rare to find a buffet that's both affordable and consistently this good! If I had one small wish, it would be for desserts to match how strong the rest of the food is. They're not bad, just a little more "fine" compared to how amazing everything else is. I've seen another Dimassi's (I think in Cali) that had a frozen yogurt machine and I'd LOVE to see that here because it would be the perfect finish! Make a cup and then crumble up some baklava on it! Overall we've LOVED it here and we'll absolutely keep coming back! Great food, clean, consistent, and worth it every time!

Between me, my husband, and my mom, we have a lot of overlap in what we like to eat, but we also have some pretty distinct preferences, and Demassi's is one of those places where that works. My husband really loves Middle Eastern / Mediterranean food. I generally do not. I tend to find the meats too dry, I don't particularly like the spice profile, and I also find a lot of dishes in that category to be overly sour. It's hard to explain, but there's often a sharp, tangy acidity that I don't enjoy. For whatever reason, I don't have that issue at Demassi's at all. Here my husband can get his fix of dry, spiced meats, while I'm happy eating from the huge selection of rice dishes, cooked veggies, and soups. As far as protein goes, I actually really like the fish here, so I almost never eat the meat and still leave satisfied. It usually feels like a healthy pescatarian day for me, which I like. Then there's my mom, who just loves the abundance and variety of a buffet. She's happiest when she can sample a little bit of everything, build plates with lots of small bites, and then go back for more. Demassi's is perfect for that. On top of all of this, it's very reasonably priced, especially for lunch or on weeknights. It's always clean, the staff is consistently courteous, and they are really on top of bussing tables, which matters a lot to me at a buffet. Dirty dishes piling up are never an issue here. Overall, it's a solid, reliable spot for us and a place we're always happy to suggest when we're trying to please multiple people with different tastes.

The meat itself was okay, decently cooked, and topped with quite a lot of some spice that I can't quite put my finger on. It was okay. The rice though, that is what really disappointed me. Persian rice is usually amazing, but this really didn't seem traditional and it had a strange taste to it. It also came with onion and a grilled tomato, both solid additions. Good portion though. The doogh yogurt drink wasn't homemade like I had hoped, but in all honesty, it still really hit the spot on a hot Austin day. Reasonable price. The saffron rice was also fairly disappointing. Large white chunks (clotted cream maybe? But they were pretty tasteless), gritty texture, not much flavor. Just not really worth it. All in all, a bit of a disappointing dinner in Austin. My friend had to stand and look for someone to give us a box to take out the good we couldn't eat because it was getting late and also to get the check because No one came in to check on us at all. It was almost like pulling teeth to get a regular service let alone good service. Again, the food was really good, and that alone was the only positive.

The food, everything, was very good. I had the Shish Tawook (chicken) with tabbouleh and hummus…read more The tabbouleh was fantastic! I don't know if it was authentic or not, but it was so good! The staff member that I dealt with was personable, pleasant, etc. Only one negative--I wish I could give the place a 4.5, but I don't think a 4 is fair--After I indicated that I was finished eating and ready for the bill (maybe I didn't communicate it so clearly?), it seemed to take quite a while before they came with the check. Otherwise, great food! (I did not try the hookah at all.) Oh, I forgot to mention: I was served a bottle of spring water rather than a bottle of "purified" water. That was fairly impressive.

I gave 4 stars to give them the benefit of the doubt, but my actual experience felt closer to 2…read morestars. The main problem was the noise. The acoustics were very bad. The hardwood ceiling and the glass window in front of me seemed to amplify sound from every direction. I was with a group of six men, and none of us could hear each other. As the noise increased, every table seemed to raise its volume just to communicate, and it became painful. The food had a BBQ flavor, which was different for Mexican food. Some people may like that, but it was not what I expected. It was 4 star food. I think sitting outside would probably be much better.
