Habitant is a stylish, casual bar and lounge located inside select Nordstrom department stores, typically on the second floor near the men's or women's clothing sections. It serves handcrafted cocktails, wine, beer, and light bites, such as maple bacon deviled eggs, providing a relaxing, centrally located stop during shopping trips. To my knowledge, Habitat at Nordstrom is only found in Honolulu, Downtown Seattle, and Chicago. Why can't Phoenix be on that list because this place seems delightful. All we have are coffee shops inside out Nordstroms. I have seen my Cycle Buddy, Randy S. check in here plenty of times. When he recommended grabbing a drink here while I was in town, I jumped on the invite... and then I stole his drink. Cynar 70 on a rock. Ooh lah lah. I also stole all the chocolate mints. My brother and husband both LOVE to stop here when I drag them out for a shopping trip to Ala Moana. The bar is located on the second floor of Nordstrom's and has craft cocktails, mocktails, and bites to enjoy for a quick sit or for an entire afternoon. It even has two large TVs, which on my most recent trip we spent watching 3 hours of March madness. The staff is attentive, but definitely creates an atmosphere for those who need to unwind from the stresses of self-imposed capitalism. Holiday cheers... Not my first choice but still a great one regardless as Habitant is located in Nordstrom Ala Moana Center 2nd floor or the Mall level and the pivot is due to the weather as it has been rainy and decided not to take a chance since it's located in the mall parking is free and covered and what I did is find a spot around Foodland Farms which is the street level and there's an easy elevator access without navigating in the mall. Meeting with fellow Yelpers Donna O and Jackie K who has already secured a nice spot on the shared community table is very nice and spacious and started with a lovely holiday mocktail "Cranberry Bliss" and went ahead to order their "Cilantro Lime Chicken Taco" and "Heirloom Tomatoes & Burrata" two of my favorite items from them which is their bar bites but so delicious where grape tomatoes is tossed in extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar and grilled croutons along with basil pesto and topped with balsamic glaze, burrata chunks and torn basil was such a refreshing bite. Their Cilantro Lime Chicken Tacos are the cutes thing but let me tell you these tacos are loaded as the seasoned chicken is topped with lettuce, and quasi fresco remained crunch and held it's own. The server did forget my drink so I wasn't going to make a deal but the manager came over to check on us to which I mentioned about my drink that she made it personally herself and apologized was nice but was quite disappointing that the server was just having a bad day not a crack of smile and just seemed to not be in the mood. Regardless I do love this cute location that's right in the midst of a department store and it's a nice place to relax and chill it's a great spot to get some work done on your own table or just gather and catch up like we did as this place welcomes all and did made it a great spot to do whatever you're planning. Nice bar right in the middle of Nordstrom! Cool ambiance as you are in the middle of a dept store. Service is great but happy hour gets busy so come early. Limited selection of food - as it should be for a bar. However, they are good and even better when paired with drinks. All except for the poke was good. Poke was too salty. This is perfect for a laid back, early afternoon light lunch. Wine and bar menu is excellent. I was a bit disappointed in how the food menu has been reduced but I guess they're going for a more bar-like ambiance. Service is quick and courteous. Once we settled down with the ahi bowl and glasses of wine we were never pushed or rushed. We were able to have a leisurely conversation without interruption. This place fills up with shoppers who want to take a break soon after they open. I got here around 11:45 am and was able to snag the comfy seats to have lunch and a drink with my gal pal. It's a nice open area and not too bad for a quick bite to eat. We both bordered the Nordstrom Double Beef Burger $18 and substituted regular fries for the truffle fries with truffle aioli for $2. The fries and aioli were amazing, but I didn't care much for the burger itself. It was just a regular old burger but the service and yummy fries are what make me give it the stars I did. We've been here several times since Father's Day and it's honestly still one of our favorite places to go - now that we've had a few experiences I wanted to share some of the names of the employees who were really great I'm pretty sure Zac is the one who helped us on Father's Day and just want to make sure he knows how grateful we are for making that a special day! Greg! He is one of my favorite servers at this place. He's so nice and remembered us when we returned. It's always a pleasure whenever we get him at our table! Ku'ulei was also very nice and a pleasure to interact with during our most recent visit. This restaurant has great food that we can always count on. And all of these employees deserve to be recognized because there's nothing worse than terrible service with mean or rude servers - I used to work in the food industry as one and I know how difficult it can be to be a server, so I really respect these individuals for doing such a great job and being able to create good moments for me and my husband that seems genuine and not fake, they seem to enjoy where they work - anyway without that type of energy it wouldn't be the place it is and they should be honored for that. read more

It's been a while since I been to Habitant. The last time I went was before Covid. Habitant is located on the third floor of Nordstrom in Ala Moana. It is like a little bar area in the middle of the shopping place next to the escalators. I used to dine here for lunch since this place was not busy and it accepted orders from Ruscello's full menu. Their bar food menu would also changes seasonally, where I would mainly order from. They also used to serve coffee that was refillable and it was a pretty good cup of coffee. Now, this place is packed and there's a short waiting time of 10 minutes or less. Their bar food menu hasn't changed for a while. I been checking their menu on the Nordstrom website and it hasn't been updated for a few years. Anyways, I recently went back and a lot has changed. There were more tables than before. They no longer have the short lounge tables and cushioned chairs. They also no longer serve coffee which was disappointing but understandable since they have an Ebar that sells coffee. I tried their bar menu and it was pretty much taken from Ruscello's menu. There was no originality anymore. Cilantro lime chicken tacos: There are 4 appetizer size tacos. It's pretty good. I like the citrusy flavor from the lime vinaigrette. I also love cilantro. Nordstrom double beef burger: A lot of reviews were recommending this burger. The burger looks good in appearance but it didn't taste as good. The double patty was very dry and it tasted exactly like the generic patty you can buy at the frozen food aisle of Costco or Walmart. The aioli and melted cheese helps with the dryness but it still didn't help with the overall flavor. I do appreciate the amount of pickles on the burger. The fries and the two dipping sauces on the sides were good. Wished there were more fries. Jumbo lump crab dip: Not a good crab dip. First, the overall dip has a strong odor. Second, the crab was very dry and it was not fresh. It tasted smelly. Third, the baguette slices on the side were very hard and inedible. We left this dish alone. Plantation ice tea: I ordered the plantation ice tea since they no longer serve coffee. The ice tea was very good. It wasn't watered down and wasn't too sweet, which was perfect. It was also refillable. Overall, this place is not as good as how it was back then (pre-Covid). You can still order from the full Ruscello's menu if there are no tables available there. It's great to see that the Habitant is way busier than before though. However, there were only two people working on that day. One person was a bartender and the other was the server. They were pretty packed so both the bartender and server were hardworking and moving around non-stop to accommodate all guests. It would be better if the Habitant would hire an extra person to help out. read more

Love the vibe. My husband and I were just shopping and the vibe of this place just invited us in and we were pleasantly surprised at how good the food and drinks were! Service is def better on the weekends than a week night. Ahi poke was great! Spinach artichoke dip is a must! Heirloom Tomatoes and Burrata is also a must! Their Double Beer Burger was delish! Worried they would be busy as always as this was during lunch. To my surprise, it wasn't. So many seats available we didn't know where to sit and so we opted to sit at the end of the bar. A nice and relaxed atmosphere for a Sunday afternoon. The servers were great and the food was delivered quickly which we're glad about since we were hungry. As long as it's not super hot liquid, The Habitant is able to serve the same plates from Ruscello's in addition to what is on their menu. The Habitant is in the middle of the second floor by the escalators. A great spot if you just want a light meal. Ambiance? Great if you like to shop! Tables & chairs, high tables & bar stools, comfy chairs and small coffee tables too. The Caesar salad here is better than a lot of wet quick Caesar salads that everyone else serves. The dip is hot and cheesy and big enough for a meal. The chicken tacos were warm crisp and had a lot of flavor. It's laid back. Employees super nice. I would definitely come back. read more

I made a return visit to this 3rd floor bar to relax after visiting a few stores. I again had the Basil Cucumber Cooler but this time I added the Ahi Poke plate. I wanted something diet friendly and the ahi poke had the least amount of calories (350); even more so because I didn't partake of any of the chips. The plate came with some (really tasty) slaw, nice looking seasoned wonton chips (alas, none for me!) and a good helping of poke. The poke was lightly seasoned and featured red onion and daikon sprouts. I like the Habitant and its vibe; there is plenty of seating and the service from the two bartenders is great. I also like that they list the calories for each dish and cocktail ... I can enjoy myself and not do too much damage to my diet. I love it! read more

Habitant is one of the many eateries that the Nordstrom brand has in their department stores across the country. Does anyone remember when Nordstrom Marketplace cafe was open when Nordstrom was at their old location? Omg. Well there are several different restaurants and when Nordstrom moved to where it currently is, the marketplace cafe was replaced with Ruscello and Habitant. One day I will try all the Nordstrom restaurants, but I'm pretty satisfied that the Honolulu Nordstrom has 2. Well we also have ebar and the gelato bar, but those don't count as restaurants I think. Anyway. Habitant is located on the second floor in the middle of the store. It's really hard to miss. You've probably seen all the pretty alcohol bottles when you're going up or down the escalators...that's Habitant. It's open seating and has a variety of table set ups and counter seating. I think the weird booths are awkward, but everywhere else here is pretty cool. Service is hit or miss. The servers are usually very efficient, but only a few are friendly. I don't really care though, I usually just want to get my drink on or chat with my friends I bring here to drink with me. The food menu is different from Ruscello, which is upstairs. But if you know the Ruscello menu (or look it up) and you ask nicely, they'll usually let you order form the Ruscello menu too. I've never had a problem ordering panko chicken salad at habitant.... The drinks are fun and they have seasonal options. I'm a little pissed that they took the vine street cocktail off the menu. I was even a little more confused when I tried to order it last night and the server didn't know what I was talking about. Obvi not a true Nordy girl.... Anyway, Habitant is a nice place to grab a bite and a drink in between shopping. They have TVs too if that's your thing. read more

Simplicity at it's finest! The menu isn't that huge, which is nice. There is little variety of tapas, but the flavors are nice and bold. Great staff that was very genuine! I was greeted by Zach with a menu soon as I sat at the bar as I wait for my friends to arrive. The atmosphere was very upbeat and clean. Shoutout to Zach who made my drink... i could tell he wasn't the "bartender," but he made a very good drink! The Lanai cooler goes down smooth and a nice refresher! According to the glass, it could have probably used a little more mix of some sort. A nice blend of tropical flavors, pineapple, passion fruit, and lemon, with a hint of vanilla to bring a little sweetness. Ryan also checked up on us at least once. Anya was such a sweet lady too, who helped us a lot! She knew I would have wanted shoyu with that poke. With that being said, I did enjoy the brussel sprouts and the heirloom tomatoes & burrata! Brussels had the perfect spice, sweet, and salty with a play of textures... crisp, yet glazed to perfection where it's not drenched but coated. The heirloom tomatoes and burrata was nice a fresh. The tomatoes were nice and sweet. A perfect bite. The only opportunities i found were... the ahi tuna poke could have used a little more seasoning or marinated a bit longer... it was pretty basic... even a tad shoyu really helped it immensely! The Lump Crab dip needed either a cracker or chip. Maybe pita? The crostini was a bit tooo too hard! Not even crisp, but when dipped for about 30 seconds, the crostini will soften! It would be much easier with another type of vessel. Other than that, soo much crab in the dip. It was very plentiful! Overall, small little hiccups, but overall a great experience! Will i be back for more? Absolutely! And i will be recommending this place to anyone! Though there was minor issues... i still say this place still gets a 5-star rating! Unexpectedly delicious! Wow! My friends got drinks - the 1944 Mai Tai and a basil refresher? They were both so good (I tried them hahah) I ordered the chicken tacos - weirdly the most tasty and yummy tacos I've had on this island. The price is high for the amount but it would do well if you are shopping and looking for a quick and satisfying snack! The chicken meatballs were also very good and I did enjoy the artichoke spinach dip though much more cheesy than I was expecting. Ruscello is where I regularly have lunch or dinner, but I can't believe this is my first time to Habitant. Came in one mid-afternoon for drinks and it wasn't busy at all. Nordstrom wasn't even busy with foot traffic either, probably because the Anniversary Sale ended a couple weekends ago. The server got me and my work wife seated right away. The feeling of being in a bar literally in the middle of the woman's floor, next to the escalator is a bit new to me. If this was a weekend, or during the holiday season, the atmosphere would for sure be different. We didn't order off the food menu, and just continued our HH, hehe. Customer service is great, with a full bar, way more servers than I had anticipated, and I believe they have a limited food menu. The only drawback is that restroom's are a bit out of the way, for ladies it's on the same floor, and for us guys, you'd have to take the escalator to the 3rd floor. We came for a late lunch while shopping on a Friday afternoon. You seat yourself and someone will help you. It was pretty busy but we were able to find a table. I will say it felt strange having a drink and eating in the middle of a department store where tables are pretty close. I had the blueberry blush drink $16 which was pretty good. Tangy and with the right amount of vodka. We split a veggie burger which if you don't like the taste of meat, tastes like it. It also had a section that was super salty. The mister ate most of it. The Heirloom Salad has always and continues to he my favorite. It never disappoints with the tomatoes being ripe (i normally don't like tomatoes). The mister had the chicken meatballs and although it came out in a cast iron platter, was cold. He felt it was undercooked but because he was famished, ate it. Also the accompanied artisan bread was hard enough to break your teeth. Unfortunately the cold sauce didn't soften it up. All of our hot food came out pretty cold but we ate it due to our hunger. A note to self is to only order drinks and cold items here. The kitchen is on the floor above so don't expect piping hot food. Eat at the restaurant for that (and the restaurant is awesome). We wanted to go to the restaurant upstairs, but there was a 30 minute wait. They suggested that we go to this bar because they serve the same food. We have been to the regular restaurant many times so we have a certain level of expectation. We ordered the crab dip, chicken meatballs, and polenta fries. Unfortunately, everything tasted like it was microwaved to warm. The crab dip and meatballs were overly seasoned, and the fries were not seasoned enough. Both the meatballs and fries were practically falling apart, as if it was previously frozen and wasn't thawed correctly. Everything just tasted off.
