Habitant is located on the second floor of Nordstrom and is right besides the escalator. They have a wide selection of wines, cocktails, and beers for a good price. Their food menu is not very large, but I saw some people ordering food off of the Ruscello menu (same kitchen). I got the chicken meatballs and they were so good! Love the marinara sauce and the subtle spice in the meatballs. I like that it wasn't as dense as like a hamburger meatball. Comes with 6! Came here with a few friends for after work drinks. Friends like to call this "Habilitat ," as a great shopping reprieve. Ordered a very nice Pinot from Oregon and it was a nice pour for the amount. Food- the tofu salad is a winner. A bit overdressed but overall very good. The lotus chips taste like potato chips. Loved it! The pork sliders are pretty small and my co-workers thought it was okay. The bruschetta out of the three dishes ordered was the favorite in our group. It's a good choice with lots of micro greens on it. Calling it micro since it wasn't the regular sized Arugula. I would return here again. They do have entertainment on some evenings which would be really nice to chill to during the hustle and bustle of the holidays coming soon. read more

First off, I LOVE that there is a bar in the womens section of Nordstrom. They have a mezcal drink and an Aperol spritz that I can never get away from. The food is light and limited, but great for a snack/ drink (liquid courage to spend $) in between shopping. There are so few good places to dine in for lunch at the mall, but Habitant is now my new favorite spot at Ala Moana to enjoy a meal! This has always been a great little bar to grab a drink while shopping, but to my surprise it's also a fantastic choice to eat at as well. The menu is extremely small since they've reopened after the shutdown, but you also have the option to order from Ruscello's condensed menu as well. I've attached the menus in my review so you can see your options. For lunch my friend Sherri & I shared: - Little Gem Caesar Salad ($13): Best Caesar salad I've had in forever! - Korean Chicken Wings ($11.25): I wasn't sure what to expect from these wings but they're just what my heart has been searching for in the chicken wing category. Not spicy, but great crispy texture and lots of flavor! I wish they had extra sauce poured on top! - Shrimp Chitarra ($18.75): A spicy tomato sauce, heirloom tomatoes, big pieces of shrimp mixed with spaghetti noodles that made my carb loving belly so happy! I can see why Randy (The Duke) likes this place... and why he got ROTD (Review of the Day) for it! At first, it seems strange to have a bar in the middle of a department store, but Nordstrom at Ala Moana Shopping Center in Honolulu is not your average store... This is a classy place with quality food, drinks, and service! I arrived early to save a table for Jules and me. Within ten minutes, four different servers asked if I wanted anything to start. Wow! That's acknowledging the customer! I was given all of the menus and was told to ask anytime for anything! Our server, Leo, was patient with our questions, and helpful with suggestions! We decided to get one of each of the Happy Hour items on the food menu because they were $5 a piece and sounded yummy (they were!). I had had the mini loco moco in the past and I highly recommend it for the homemade, smokey patty and delicious mushroom gravy! The coconut shrimps were delicately crisp on the outside and moist on the inside! The sweet potato fries came with a sauce that complimented them well! We also ordered a Caesar salad from the restaurant upstairs - Ruscello. It was fresh and tasty! My Lanai Cooler was outstanding... fruity and palatable... yum! On another occasion, I enjoyed the company of twelve friends as we helped Randy celebrate his birthday. We showed up at Habitant at Nordtstrom at 8 pm for a quick drink and pupus. We were told that the last kitchen orders would be at 8:30 pm. So we quickly ordered some kalua pork sliders with chips. Super yummy, although the plate only came with two sliders. Most places charging that much offer 3 sliders. I've lost count how many times I've been here, in a good way lol, as I've met friends, clients, and Grace Park at Habitant. I've also come solo to unwind after a long day of work or soap opera. It's a drama free place where the service is genuine, the pistachio's taste better than peanuts, and no worries you don't have to pretend to be someone else. Be you! I've had probably every cocktail on the menu, a couple off the menu, and bites for lunch & dinner. It's located on the 2nd floor, smack dab in the middle of the women's department & not too far off from the bathroom (yes!) Not only are the drinks amazing, the pupus/small plates are also delicious! A lot mention that it's a great place for husbands/boyfriends to sit & have a drink while their significant other shops, but my husband and I both love stopping by together! I'm a lover of Shirley temples & their house made spiked grenadine is delish! I actually crave it ( and I'm not much of a drinker). The service is quick and friendly. A bar in the middle of a women clothing store that serves decent food that's kid friendly. At 11am this place is a great lunch option to take the kids. You can order certain items from Ruscello but there are items unique to Habitant. No soups can be delivered downstairs and they do not honor kids meals. However, the staff are welcoming and friendly to families. Unfortunately today the pizza oven was broken and they no longer serve breakfast. We ordered a burger which is a generous portion of 2 stacked beef Patties with cheese. The chicken tenders were boneless, crispy and well seasoned. The salad was good even though I requested dressing on the side..they fortunately did not drench they entree. Fries were shoestring fried and so good you cannot stop at just one. Love coming to Habitant for pupus or a lighter lunch. Located on the 2nd floor next to the BP section. It's perfect for days where you want to eat and then shop! They also have a bar which I think is great especially for the guys that have to wait around while their significant other shops (i.e. my boyfriend). Their menu is small cause it's mostly bar food but I think you can order items from Ruscello (the restaurant on the 3rd floor). Some of my favorite things to order are the meatballs, miso tofu salad, hummus and pita bread and their honey chipotle chicken wings. From time to time they'll add something different to the menu. I had my first visit to Habitant last month with some fellow Yelpers. We came for happy hour, but also to discuss planning for a future UYE. LOCATION / SETTING: Ala Moana Nordstrom, second floor. 1. Yes, there's parking. And lots of it! This is the mall after all. 2. Yes, there's happy hour! Thankfully. Their "Sunset Hour" is 300pm to 600pm (I assume its daily since there were no specific days on the menu). 3. Yes, seating is plentiful. Besides the bar, there are various tables throughout the bar area. Our group sat at a long communal table; other tables I observed are mostly for pairs. Though this was my first visit, I did notice that the bar wasn't crowded at all during HH. This was a welcome change from various crowded happy hours I have been to in the past. I appreciated the absence of noise. 4. Yes, there are mostly drink specials on the HH menu. These include wine, beer, and spirits. There are a mere three food items available for happy hour: sweet potato fries, coconut shrimp, and a loco moco. After my first glass of red wine, I decided to order the fries. The fries were a generous portion (considering their $5 price point) and served hot and crisp. Eventually, we ordered the chicken tacos off the regular menu as our hunger pains returned. They were quite good; its too bad they're not on the happy hour menu. 5. Yes, service was pretty decent. Initially, there seemed to be just one bartender taking care of the entire area. My first meal back on Oahu after a year away due to Covid. Lack of stars due to service only. I'm not sure if it's a Covid issue but I expected oh so much more from Nordstrom. As a former employee of a rival high end store in the mall I know standards and this was lacking. Staff was borderline rude. A bottle of champagne was ordered and other than initial pour the server never touched our bottle again (again could be Covid). No check back on food, which was good. No offer of coffee and desserts are not an option. Water and menus had to be requested as did bill and it was not brought to table had to get up to retrieve and sign and it was NOT busy. Fields After seeing multiple check-ins from fellow Yelpers at Habitant (located in Nordstrom - Ala Moana Center), we first took in their Happy Hour just before dining at Rinka with friends. Habitant is a sleek open bar area with lots of comfortable seating and is located next to the escalator. We could see several other couples and groups of friends enjoying post-work festivities. Our server, who turned out to be bartender, Grant, was friendly and informative. My husband inquired with Grant about getting an Old Fashioned while I ordered a GM (prosecco with Grand Marnier, lemon juice and lemon juice). Grant confidently said that Habitant makes an outstanding Old Fashioned and uses 100-Proof Rittenhouse Rye Whisky. I warned my husband that we hadn't eaten lunch and to go "easy" with the drink.... I did take a sip and agreed with him that this was one of the better OF that we had tasted. Also, the prices were quite reasonable for the quality of their cocktails. In the back of my mind, I could hear my parents scolding me in Cantonese about becoming a jiu gui (酒鬼) or drunkard as my parents rarely drank liquor but had a pretty extensive whiskey "collection" due to the Chinese tradition of toasting at celebratory feasts. We returned on the same night with friends (Jan and Randy) to enjoy other cocktails, snacks and called it a night. Ms S had to return shoes at Neiman Marcus so we also decided to have lunch at Ala Moana. Mariposa's earliest table was at 1:45pm, Ruscello's earliest table was at 12:45pm (both per OpenTable) so we simply dropped in to Habitant as soon as they opened at 11:00am. My Koolau Mist was a great cocktail with vodka, ginger liqueur, lime and orgeat - very complex flavors with none dominating. Ms S's gnocchi were tender but with a slight bite (the way we both like gnocchi) while my Nicoise was filling (though noticed that Ruscello likely was out of eggs) and we both enjoyed the truffle fries accompanied by a truffle aioli. My first time here since the pandemic hit. The menu has shrunk and prices went up. The chicken tacos were $18! It used to be $11 but it's still yummy. The chicken meatballs were pretty good. If you're looking for someplace cool to relax, have a drink and maybe munch on a few goodies, then come to Habitant in Nordstrom's Ala Moana on the 2nd floor by the escalators. The ambience is wonderful! Clean, cool and quite quiet for a bar in a shopping center. They do have 2 tv's usually showing sports for your entertainment, but if you'll have to watch what they put on. The drinks are tasty and the food is from Ruscello upstairs on the 3rd floor, so pretty good! What more could you ask for? Happy Hour? Yup, they got'um and pretty good deals too. I've been introduced to the chicken tacos here, and they are my absolute favorites here. Have had the other items, Hamburger Steak (small but good), Poke (good pupu with drinks), but the Tacos keep calling me when I come here! Something about grounded chicken in a crunchy taco shell has my number. On occasion, I'll order a pepperoni and mushroom pizza from upstairs, and fyi you can order anything they serve in Ruscello, just gotta know what you want for they don't have any of their menus down here. So, on an rare occasion I was waiting in the mall for friends to finish shopping, and stopped in to grab a bite and watch the football game that was on. A particular gentleman was working with another gentleman and lady behind the bar. This gentlemen not once acknowledged me until he gave me my check. Things like asked me how my food or drink was, even though he was serving everyone else around me made me feel very unwelcomed as if I was a rival and not a paying customer. The other gentlemen that started my order went missing, I'm assuming for a break, but the only help I got was from the lady bringing my food and giving me utensils. Again, only time the gentleman, without any service, came to me was to give me my check. Fo'sure, if I'm in the area again and see this gentleman, I'll pass and wait for someone else like Kui (exceptional help here) or anyone but him. Overall though, expect for that one bad taste in my mouth, the service here is usually amazing and the setting is merely less than perfect. Not too many seats but we were lucky especially during the holidays to find a table for 4 of us with a stroller too. There are seats at the bar as well. It's pretty much the same small plates coming from the kitchen at Ruscello except its more bar and more variety of drinks. It's pretty good. Its centralized which is good and bad. Like you can have a random mom with a baby crying park her self next to you and you think "What's wrong with you lady? a baby in a bar?" then you realize oh yeah I'm in the center of a department store with clothes and stuff a stones throws away. Its convenient to meet up with people, parking is usually less busy on the upper levels, don't drink and drive. The service is good and so are the drinks. But Honestly I like to drown my sorrows in a tall glass of bourbon out of the line of sight of the general public and children usually. Just kidding. I don't have much sorrows. I frequent Habitant inside Nordstrom whenever I am at Ala Moana and want a drink (which is all the time). Came in on Feb 5th and the service and food were great. But those are just added bonuses because I just come in here for the gin drink called Stonewashed. I absolutely love this drink. Habitant is a cool tapa bar on the Ewa side of Nordstrom's 3d floor. A bunch of us got together to celebrate Yeep Randy S's belated birthday. Happy or as they call it Sunset Hour is 3-6 pm. SH is a great little mix of tapa bites: a mini loco moco, coconut shrimp, & sweet potato fries; 3 local beers, 3 Chateau St. Michelle wines (one of my faves!), and 6 types of shots (one was a bourbon that I haven't tried before, Old Forester). They also have a regular menu of dishes and cocktails. Got a Wailua Wheat and ordered the SH mini loco moco & meatballs (from the regular menu). While the meatballs & sauce were good, they really acted as a palate cleanser for the loco moco. That was delicious! A savory gravy and nicely caramelized hamburger were the highlights. If you have an appetite, you might need to get 2 or 3 of them. The cast iron tray that the mini loco moco is in is not much bigger than a cell phone. As always it was great to catch up with the "usual suspects", the birthday boy, and especially Eric R, a former Honolulu Yeep, now living in San Francisco. Let's start with Nordstrom's free and fast wi-fi that puts the Ala Moana Center wi-fi to shame. There is a free smartphone charging tower on the second floor when your battery is low - get a code from the service bar, plug in, lock up, and go on your merry happy hour way. Brought your own charger? Plug in under the bar where your can also hang your purchases on the convenient hooks. Besides their regular cocktail program and small plates, they will run special cocktails alongside a special small plate - like a Wagyu slider duo, Dynamite Salmon w sea asparagus, ogo, and ikura, or Smoked salmon carpaccio. But always order the Cilantro Lime Chicken Tacos. The fresh shells are thick and crisp - no shattering on the first bite - firm enough to hold everything so you won't be doing the "turn your head sideways to eat them" move. The colors of the green lettuce, red bell peppers, white queso - representative of Mexico's flag - with yellow bell peppers really pop. The cilantro and fresh lime accents add brightness on your palate. My favorite plate! My only lament is the plating of this dish is wildly inconsistent - one day looking like it come out of a fine dining kitchen and another day looking like it came from a local dive bar. If you need to dine beyond small plates you can always order salads, pasta, and pizza from the menu upstairs at Ruscello. What better things to combine than shopping and drinking/eating . I love the ambiance - it's so open it feels like you're dining while shopping since there are racks of clothes a few feet away from the border of the seating area. Everything here is mostly small share dishes and no real entrees since it fits the ambiance and purpose of the bar (also, their food comes from the restaurant upstairs). All the food was pretty tasty and drinks were awesome! Here are a few things we tried: Roasted Mushroom Bruschetta: This had herb roasted mushrooms, baby arugula, goat cheese, balsamic glaze, all on a large slice of a grilled baguette. When we first arrived, we sat at the long table next to this group of ladies were said they were regulars. They gave us suggestions on what was good...their words of wisdom on this one was, "it sounds better than it tastes." We should have listened to them...they were right. I mean it was good, just wasn't really bruschetta and was a bit dry as there was no sauce, just the balsamic glaze. Cilantro Line Chicken Tacos: This had four small tacos on the plate and the shells were deep fried. This dish was pretty good and great for sharing. Mediterranean Hummus: Just your typical hummus, nothing too special. I also prefer soft flatbread, however, they crisped them up so it was crunchy. Drinks were the real winners here! My favorite was the Vine street, which was vodka, rose wine, lime juice, muddled grapes & mint, with a Prosecco splash. So refreshing!! Service was amazing as our server Chris was so much fun and took really great care of us! Cocktails ranged from $13-$15 and my friend ordered a Bikini Blonde (which came in a can) and cost like $6.50! Overall, it's a bit pricey but it's a department store restaurant so it's to be expected. But the great service and unique ambiance is what will keep us coming back! Not a huge fan of their location, but the drinks are pretty good and food tasty. I got fries and a cucumber cooler. Tasted similar to a gimlet with a little more cucumber taste. It's definitely on the pricier side, but thats to be expected from Nordstrom read more

Had the sliders and a glass of sparkling wine during happy hour. The food and service was indulgent and a great value. Only downside? It is right in the middle of the store shopping, almost like sitting in the aisle while people walk past with their purchases. But if you want to sit in an upscale place, sipping champagne in the late afternoon and are on a budget, this is your place! Came here 2x this past week because after shopping at Nordstrom's realized that I was starving! Habitant is located on the 2nd floor of Nordstrom right next to the escalators. I was actually on my way to Ruscello's on the 3rd floor but saw this cute little bar and as soon as I realized they served food I was sold. I later learned that currently Ruscello's is reservations only and they have been packed. Back to Habitant...super efficient hip place to have a drink, grab a light lunch/dinner and relax at the bar or at the tables. The vibe is really laid back and friendly. Perfect place to unwind after a day of shopping. PERFECT for boyfriends and husbands to chill at and watch sports games with there 2 large TVs with a glass of beer and pupus. The bar seats about 14 people and they have about 15 other tables surrounding the bar. I've been sitting at the bar and it has AC outlets and bag holders underneath so convenient. Service - very efficient and friendly staff. They are personable and will make recommendations if you need anything. Food/Menu - limited menu it's more like a tapa type of dining. Chicken Tacos (comes with 4)-Probably the heartiest dish if you are hungry. Good flavor I think they use ground chicken. Mushroom Bruchetta is also good. 3 pieces of toasted bread generously covered in mushrooms and arugula and goat cheese and balsamic glaze. Kalua sliders- Sweet bread holding together Kalua pig and cole slaw. Comes with 2 sliders and lotus root potato chips. Aperfect for me since I just wanted something small. The food is made upstairs and brought down to the 2nd floor it comes out rather quickly so the wait won't be too long. Moscow Mule was so good here. Bread Pudding - MUST try if you like desserts. It had amazing flavor and not like other bread pudding. Triangle shaped and toasted before they serve it so it's nice moist on the inside and served with a white chocolate anglaise raspberry sauce. YUM! Highly recommend to stop in and have a bite or a glass of wine if you are shopping in Nordstrom or just want a casual hip place to chill out. I love the concept of a full bar and pupus nestled perfectly in a retail store. read more

Oooh I really liked this place. After a long day of walking around in the mall and being drenched by the hot sun, a cold drink and some pupus is everything. The drinks are great here, and the service, quick. Just thinking about it makes me want to come back again. Definitely give it a try. read more

"A bar?? Inside Nordstrom?? Well it's always 5:00 somewhere." Those were my initial thoughts when I walked by habilitant this morning at the new Nordstrom Grand Opening. It was only 9:30 am! The bar is set on the first floor of the new Nordy's, right on the center of all the action, next to the escalators. It's open seating, so 90 minutes later, when the restaurant was overflowing, we got lucky to find a nice little corner at habilitant to sit down and have a light lunch. The servers could not have been nicer, immediately bringing is water & some really fresh pistachios to nibble while we checked out the menu. Options available are pupu/light fare. We ordered Cilantro Lime Chicken Tacos, Kalua Pig Sliders & a Tofu Miso Salad. All arrived quickly and were tasty. The slider was a bit salty for my taste, but my Mom liked it. If you are looking for a place for a quick bite to eat, great place to people-watch and check out the shopping, this is a great place!
