We did receive a complimentary Churro plate for the birthday celebration. They were drizzled with caramel and berries. Served warm, they were a dream for the palate. I did use the bathroom which was a single stall. It was clean enough but not well lit. The biggest downfall of my experience was the temperature of the restaurant. I understand it is summer, however, there was no A/C and the inside was extremely hot. I sweated through my entire experience. Even the bathroom felt like 100 degrees. We did not complain but our waitress noticed and brough a fan out to circulate the air. They do have ceiling fans but honestly I did not feel them. The management/owner should consider more temperature control methods during the hotter months as it was quite uncomfortable. To sum it up, I thought this experience was mostly positive and would patronize it again.

I've tried many Mexican restaurants around in NYC and in New Mexico (Mexican cuisine is my favorite foreign cuisine, I'm Italian transplanted in Brooklyn) and turned out that this tiny new restaurant, just around the corner, has been the best so far! I've been VERY impressed with the freshness of the ingredients, and the quality of the meat. When you place an order, if you are close enough to the counter, you can see the cooks behind that start cooking your stuff, with mouthwatering smell spreading around and flashing flames from the pans. I've paid attention and I've never seen them using stuff that is pre-cooked and stored in metal vessels like many other restaurants. I've also seen up to 5 cooks working there, and as a consequence the food is not always gonna be exactly the same, but so far the range is from good to "oh-my-god! This stuff is amazing!!!". their tacos and burritos are definitely the best I've ever had, the meat quality is really outstanding, they use really lean meat, with zero chewy scraps in it. The al pastor, carnitas and steak are in particular good and the ones I had today made me wonder how the hell they got to cook meat that was so flavorful and soft. Their salsas are also excellent, and the nachos are great. I wanted to try the burger, and that was my only disappointment, but hey this is a Mexican restaurant, if you want a burger you go somewhere else. Last note, the prices are pretty good, slightly cheaper than the average Mexican restaurants in Brooklyn. To the girl who is saying they are not Mexican cause they cooked kielbasa, well you got the stuff delivered so how can you know? If you go there is person you can see that the cooks are ALL Mexican, and I really doubt they'd use kielbasa. The guys who are serving at the tables and getting the orders are not mexican, but that's a different story. read more

I have tried most of the Mexican restaurants in the neighborhood, but none compare to Haab. Their meat is high quality - no gristle here - and always marinated to perfection. The presentation is beautiful - the salad is colorful, crisp and fresh, unlike the iceberg "salad" served at other Mexican places. Also, I have some food allergies, which often makes eating in restaurants a minor nightmare, but the waiter at Haab goes out of his way to make sure that everything on my plate is gluten-free and dairy-free, and takes care to warn me if he brings something to the table that has one of my allergens.
