This HEB is by far one of the nicest and cleanest I've been to in Austin. Since expanding, they have a nice variety of Central Market items, including a "Cafe-on-the-Run." Plus, who wouldn't love a grocery store that has free wine tasting? My tip: if you don't like crowds don't come here on Sundays like everyone else. I am now living on HWY 71 past the Y in Oak Hill and well the HEB at the Y seemed a little weird so I decided to go to the one out in Bee Caves, well that one is a little too nice for me. I felt like I was walking into a Whole Foods. All the soccer moms and nice employees made me feel like Alice in Wonderland. The produce selection was nicely laid out and easy to find. There wasn't anything specifically special about this place but the fact that it is the nicest HEB that I have ever been into. It will be where I do all my grocery shopping. read more

I'm a pharmacy technician, and this is where I fill my prescriptions. The staff is efficient, their prices are lower than the Walgreen's across the street, and they have the space and budget to have a diverse inventory. The pharmacy where I work is super tiny, so when a customer can't wait for us to order a specialty medication, we can usually find the med at HEB. Symbiosis makes the world go 'round, and the HEB pharmacy is a great chain pharmacy. They may not have the ability to cater to their customers the way a smaller pharmacy like Live Oak or Liberty can, but for those who don't need a ton of guidance or special consideration, the HEB pharmacy is decently priced and very fast. read more

This HEB is my favorite HEB ever--I love it even more than the Escarpment one. The employees here walk around smiling naturally and the ones I've encountered are very friendly to customers, getting to know them more closely like what you picture happening in a traditional small market. I eat at the "Cafe on the Run" for lunch pretty much every day and even look forward to lunch as a result. There are usually many rotating samples of dishes for customers to try. They always seem to have two or three delicious dips like Hummus, Spinach Bacon, Love, Red Pepper Hummus out as samples. Their prepared food prices range around restaurant prices, but the pannini sandwiches are a good deal at $5-6 each. They also have a salad bar with a nice variety of fresh things (even dolmas) at $6.99/lb. The only poor experiences I've had here are with the mochas. Their mochas are far less tasty than the ones at independent coffeeshops. There's also a Starbucks in a separate building in that same huge shopping center. The size of the supermarket is also very big and the parking lot is well-packed (but not impossibly dense) during the weekday lunch hour. I can picture this supermarket as a hub for local Bee Cavers to shop at. The best thing about this supermarket would be the friendly employees. It makes me carry the awful stereotype that Bee Cave residents are friendly. read more

Wow! The size of this grocery would tend to lead me to believe that it wouldn't be nearly as nice as it is, but it is! I had no idea what HEB even was a couple years ago, though I was working in Marketing and had passed some HEB gift cards through our Legal Department... I just read disclosures and never gave much more thought about it until my brother moved to Dripping Springs... I remember being a little excited, actually, when we first came here just because I really wanted to see what the HEB was. I was expecting nothing more than a Ralph's or a Safeway or something, but this place was really nice, big, and open. I love the meat section here, as we've gotten some fantastic cuts here for CHEAP! Everybody here seems friendly and even when it seems busy, the check-outs seem endless and move quick! Great random samples here, too, though my cousin really likes to sample the olive bar, which I never feel as comfortable doing, haha... Parking for days... maybe weeks. This is the best 'standard' grocery store I've ever been in. By standard, I mean a general purpose grocery store that's not selling itself as super fancy *Cough* *Whole Foods* *Cough*. I'm from California, and to me the prices seem very good (probably 10 - 15% below what I used to pay, maybe more). The large jars of Pace Salsa, which I purchase large quantities of, was about $4 in California; it's $3.08 standard price here. The place is clean, seems to have about 500 employees working at any given time, and seems to have quite good produce, deli, cheese, and bakery stuff. Very good beer and wine selection, from what I can tell. Drug store selection is better than most drug stores. Lots of sundries and cooking tool stuff. Much of the store brand stuff is good (not all, mind you - do not buy the store brand chicken breasts in the refrigerated section - yuck), and there is a store-brand item for just about every type of thing they sell. Very satisfactory. The "Texas Dippers" corn chips are outstanding. My only complaint is that the prices in the floral department seem unreasonably high. I don't have enough experience here to know if that's just what flowers cost, or if it's unique to HEB, but it makes it more challenging to bring home a little bouquet every now and then for the Mrs. when they're so expensive (I feel guilty for enjoying the view of the many attractive soccer moms that inhabit the place). Still, as this is the best standard grocery store I've ever been in, it gets 5 stars. read more

I've shopped this store since it opened. Fortunately, I shop there primarily after 9 pm, as weekends earlier are crazy with lines of people and kids running everywhere. Bumper cars. With the new Lakeway HEB store coming soon, that should soon be alleveated. The associates are nice and helpful when you can find one. My issue is recently with their coarse ground beef for chili had lots of gristle and fat chunks. Yuck. Kept having to spit stuff out. Ready made foods are poor, especially the tough as sticks green beans and asparagus. Why can't they achieve at least a Luby's level of ready-to-eat carryout food? I shop Randall's Lakeway when I want a nice soup or a tasty ready-made meal. Randall's pastries are better and cheaper especially on Friday's. This HEB needs to pick up their game a bit. read more

I love the employees at this HEB. A few weeks ago I was looking for an angel food cake for my daughter's birthday. They didn't have any out, but two employees behind the baker counter found a fresh one and boxed it for me while I shopped. They really went the extra mile for me when they could have blown me off. That's weird that they don't have a page for the HEB by the Y. Well anyway, I've gone to this one too. HEB is convenient and cheap. Like all lamestream. . . I mean MAINstream stores it has every kind of packaged food you could imagine, but we stop in there from time to time for berries, organic whipped cream and wine, you know, the essentials. Last time they had a special on blackberries, 5 for $5! Yep, they know my number. They've also got over-the-counter medicines, cat food and other things one tends to need unexpectedly. My go to spot to get groceries! It has a great selection of basically everything you will need and the staff is also friendly and eager to help! Went in today looking for fresh herb vinegarette and the man we asked for help made it his life mission for the day to find us that product, even though the closest he found was only herb vinegarette! Also one time I was in here they were out of their freshly baked bread but the lady informed us she would keep a loaf in the back for us when the next batch was finished baking so we could finish shopping then on our way out pick it up! Cons: -there is always stress when looking for parking -Extremely crowded inside, especially on the weekends -whole foods is across the street so you have a hard time choosing which to go to! read more

Came in to buy a bunch of ice during the current water shortage. I needed about 500 pounds which is way over their limit for a single transaction. One of the managers Jesse was quick to make sure I was taken care of. He not only helped me load the ice into two carts but he walked me to my car and unloaded them with me. Such an awesome store! I go every Sunday for my weekly groceries and the employees are super helpful and the prices are cheap. Nate and Justin at the cooking connection whip up some awesome samples, and they're super helpful and patient! The ladies at the wine samples are very knowledgable as well and have pointed me in the direction of some wines that have become my favorites. There is an HEB closer to my house but I come here for the cleanliness of the store and the helpful employees. I look forward to this trip every week! read more

When my daughter got engaged, we had a lot of decisions to make. By far, one of the best decisions we made was to have H‑E‑B do the flowers for the wedding! I worked with Stephanie Herrera, and she was absolutely wonderful! My daughter had a good idea of what she wanted, and Stephanie really listened and made suggestions. We had a couple of changes along the way, nothing too major, but Stephanie was always flexible. When Stephanie delivered (yes, she delivered and helped set out the arrangements!) the flowers the morning of the wedding, we were absolutely thrilled! The bridesmaids' bouquets were beautiful! And the groomsmen's boutonnières were exactly what we wanted. The arrangements for the tables could not have been lovelier! They made the whole place look so beautiful. But my favorite thing was my daughter's bouquet! We definitely knew what we wanted, but Stephanie made it better than anything we could have imagined! My daughter was so happy, and so was I. Hi, on March 10th I ordered groceries from curbside at the bee cave store. I accidentally ordered my groceries for the 11th, so I decided to cancel the order after I already paid. I went to HEB curbside (bee cave) and asked two of the employees to cancel my order and they said they would no problem. I checked my bank account today, and I was charged for all of the groceries (that I never received) from the order that I canceled. I am very upset and this needs to be dealt with immediately. Generally my first choice for most grocery shopping, I am not satisfied with the wine section. I bought wine there for many years and only once returned a bottle complaining that it was bad. I got no help from the section manager who had no concern at all. Since then I have found other places who are more helpful and very competitive. I spend about $150 a month on wine but not at HEB anymore. read more

They will sell you used pet food. Inspect every bag before you purchase it because they will not take it back or exchange it. Moments after I got the receipt and saw the bag I bought was on clearance, I took a closer look and saw it had been cut open and taped up. Did I grab the first bag off the shelf and throw it in my cart without looking at it? I sure did. Which was a mistake as this store is okay with selling you tampered with food. In the future, I will now have look over everything I buy to make sure it hasn't been messed with. Also, it was not clearly labeled clearance. It wasn't until I was paying that saw the price and asked why it was on clearance. The cashier said "I don't know". I then started to look at the bag but my card was already in the reader and the receipt was printing. My mistake. I should have waited to pay until after I was done looking over the food. I took it over to customer service to exchange but they wouldn't take it because it was clearance. I guess it's only okay to sell your customers tampered food but not admit or make up for it This was the final straw for me. This HEB has constantly been terrible. I try to avoid it when possible because I do not enjoy being whispered too in the isles, or blocked from backing up until someone knows my name and age, or looked up and down by the employees. Not to mention where the hell are the little half carts. It's always overcrowded. The staff is a bunch of 15-year-olds who couldn't care less (Which is just a normal 15-year-old thing) but this is honestly one of the grossest HEBs I've ever been to. It just sucks that when I need cat food, they're the closest place. And that they sell it used. read more

This is a pretty good HEB. They always have what I'm looking for. Employees are friendly. I went here Monday before thanksgiving and the Wednesday before thanksgiving and both times the cashiers were really nice and polite. I wish this HEB would sell My Fit Foods products. They sell breakfast tacos in the morning at the cafe and coffee. I had one breakfast taco a while back and it wasn't good. It was dry and old tasting. Their produce always looks good and not moldy. They have a demonstration chef stand where someone cooks and talks to customers. I've passed by the fresh flower section and they always look nice and not wilted. This HEB is one of my favs. I will continue to go here for the nice employees and fresh produce. read more

I do love me some HEB! Not being from Texas, this place was a welcomed experience to the normally dreadful trip to the grocery store. I'm not going to lie... I'm totally bias because I have managed to make friends with all the HEB people serving up samples of wine....and it is AWESOME and makes shopping so much more enjoyable. Wow, what does that say about me? I basically judge a grocery store by three things, quality of meat, quality of produce, and how cheap the booze is. HEB gets high marks in all three of these critical criteria. I do NOT like the Cabo Loco specials (or whatever they call them)... they make you run all over the store as stuff is melting in your cart... NOT COOL HEB! I'd rather just get a discount card so you can track how much Natural Light Beer and Valveta cheese I eat... You really would be surprised. The upgraded HEB is good. The have the "Cafe on the Run" and lots of organic / natural selections to make it like a Central Market lite. The Chase (use the left entrance) also stays open late (7pm) on the weekdays, so that's convenient. read more

Ripped off again at HEB! Got home and again found out I was overcharged for an item. The sign said seedless grapes on sale at 98 cents/lb, got home and the receipt said I paid $2.49 a pound. I had another overcharge recently where their yellow tag said $2.00 off regular price which was labelled $6.98 so I figure I was getting it for $4.98 ........... no, the $6.98 already had the $2.00 subtracted! Deceptive and plain false advertising of prices. I hate my HEB. read more

I've lived in the Lakeway area for 7 years and HEB has always been my market of choice but my appreciation of them ballooned when I went in and asked Lisa Leva if they could help out my non-profit, www.MediaAwarenessProject.org with some supplies for a film shoot we were doing. Their generosity helped us put on an incredible workshop with some kids from the juvenile justice system and they went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. In love with this HEB! Can't believe that I get to do all my grocery shopping here. I've had lunch at the Cafe on the Run twice and both times have resulted in truly delicious salads that included Israeli couscous, some sort of curry chicken couscous, Greek feta pasta salad, grilled salmon, dolmos and a wide variety of other topping. They have a good selection of sandwiches that can be made to order, as well as 4-6 soups. Aside from the Cafe, the cheese selection, produce department, bakery (tons of fresh bread!), and natural foods bulk section all rock!! One of the things I appreciate most about this store is the way that it is laid out - natural flow for getting weekly groceries and an amazing selection in each aisle. I love this HEB! read more

This is one of the best HEBs in the Austin area! It has been renovated over time and kept up with requests of people in the area. It has an aisle dedicated to healthful foods and nuts. There are lots of fresh fruits and veggies, a nice variety, and organic options. There is a huge variety of fine cheeses, and there is a cooking station where a worker cooks interesting foods and snacks for customers to try and gives them the recipe to reinvent it at home. There is also a large area dedicated to beers, wines, and other alcoholic beverages. Most importantly, they sell one of my favorite chocolates!! If you've ever been to Europe, you know their chocolate dominates ours. This HEB carries Ritter chocolate!! read more
