I am elderly with several medical conditions, resulting in many maintenance prescriptions. Before I came to Walgreens Pharmacy, I usually used a large local food store pharmacy. I started going to Walgreens #04761 because the pharmacy is open 24 hours, and sometimes I needed a prescription late. The food store pharmacy in my neighborhood decreased hours of operation, so I found myself at Walgreens. In addition to the perk of being able to collect my prescription any hour of the day, I began noticing other services at Walgreens that really made my prescription life much more convenient.
First, going to a "corner-like" drug store was much more convenient. I could park right in front of the door. That way I could reach the pharmacy much sooner and with less walking. It is a hassle to drive around looking for a parking space at a food store pharmacy, then walk across the parking lot to the store, then walk to the pharmacy, It is just a longer undertaking at a food store pharmacy, Food store pharmacies are very busy and are usually very loud.
Soon I learned that IT communication from Walgreens to the customer was consistent, concise, and I knew exactly what to do to ensure my prescription was ready. Soon after the order was received by Walgreens, I would receive a text about the status of the prescriptions I ordered. The text linked me directly to software at Walgreens that delineated the status of all requested prescriptions--without having to remember a password, or the street on which I lived in the third grade, to get into the system. This text tells me the prescriptions that are ready, what manufacturer was used to fill my Rx, and how much it cost. I am also told if they have to order the medication, or if there is an insurance problem they are working on, etc. This is really helpful in planning my time. I like complete information and no other pharmacy even approaches this level of sophisti
cation.
On the other hand, when Rxs were being sent to the local food store chain pharmacy, sometimes I received a phone call that I had a prescription ready and sometimes i didn't. I had asked for a text, but I always got a call. The call doesn't tell me what the medication is, how much it costs, if insurance paid, etc. I am referred to a website where i have to set up an account, do the password thing. I have never continued through this set-up procedure to learn any more about my prescriptions.
The Walgreen staff are friendly, courteous, and are very helpful in the most quick way they can be. Most know me by name. All the pharmacists and support staff are nice and helpful, and they are very efficient. Even though some pharmacists have come and gone over the years, there is one pharmacist, Stacey, that is on duty much of the time I'm in the pharmacy. No matter how busy the pharmacists and staff are, one can easily see they are trying to get the most prescriptions for the most people in the timliest way they can. And in this context, everyone always has a smile, will stop and listen, and do whatever he or she can to have my prescription ready. read more
