I had such a wonderful experience at the H-E-B on West Slaughter, and I especially want to recognize Jamie and Will for their outstanding customer service! They were incredibly friendly, helpful, accommodating, and efficient while helping me return a large collection of bottles my son has been saving all year long. They handled everything quickly and made the entire process so easy. What may have seemed like a simple bottle return was actually a pretty big deal to us. My son has been patiently saving them for an entire year and was SO excited to finally turn them in. Jamie and Will could not have been nicer or more helpful throughout the process. Another Great HEB Experience I was at the Slaughter and Escarpment H-E-B today searching for fresh cinnamon rolls. After browsing the shelves, I couldn't find a single package baked less than two days ago. Knowing my "Commander-in-Chief" of 54 years wouldn't settle for anything less than fresh, I mentioned it to Gregory, the gentleman who had helped me find them. I headed toward the frozen aisle, figuring I'd have to settle for the bake-at-home kind. I was well away from the bakery when Gregory actually hunted me down. "I remember you from last year," he said. "You told me then that your wife wouldn't be happy with bakery goods two days old." I was floored that he remembered me. Even better? This place is amazing! They have everything! All the groceries you could want with many options. They have a huge selection of natural foods, healthy options. Could use a little more expansion in the organic produce section, but they had most options available. I love during the holidays you can get a bunch of really nice decorations here. They also have a big kids section at the front of the store that has toys at reasonable prices. Some items were $5! They have re-usable plastic bags that are super heavy duty and the handles on them are strong! They can hold a ton of heavy items. Everyone uses them. Keep them stored in the car for next time. Staff is great! I couldn't find the Kombucha I wanted and the lady found what store I could go to for that specific brand. No worries about the competition, just happy to help me find what I wanted. This location has consistently declined since the day it was erected literally in our backyards. One visit to the newer HEB by 290 will show you what has changed. This HEB does not have the better selections it used to have. It has succumbed to some sort of suburban slump. Worse still are the clientele that shop here. Worst shoppers you will ever meet in your life. Rude, aggressive shoppers will cut in front of you, grab merchandise from shelves reaching across your face, cut lines at check out, and behave like impatient angry children. Last night this cow and her husband blocked me from accessing the roses first with their stroller. I patiently waited. I just wanted a dozen roses. They would not move or let me access them. Then suddenly they took all the roses 7-8 of them-- all of the red ones. They didn't once ask me if I needed one, they saw me and intentionally blocked me. This is only one story... I try to not shop here anymore. The clientele may show up in ugly fancy Tesla trucks but what's inside is horrible human beings. read more

Great grocery store worst deli counter I have ever been to. I've been going to the store for eight years. The people at the deli department don't even acknowledge that you're standing there with a simple hello or I'll be with you soon. I've been standing here for 16 minutes, and no one's even bothered to look up yet. It's absolutely horrible. This HEB location has done nothing but exude pure disgust and trash. I truly believe that a lot of employees forget that they clock in to make a living, and by clocking it there is a job title that you have to live up to. The customer service at this location lacks poorly. I treat everyone like human beings, but at this location it is not returned. The look on the cashiers face every time that I approach to checkout is so highly unprofessional. Their face screams I don't want to be here, well news flash there's plenty room under a bridge pal! Specifically "OHN or JOHN" I couldn't get a good look at his name tags but he was a younger Asian guy with glasses that works at night. His attitude is very disgusting and needs to be addressed. Also these cashiers think that kind of behavior is acceptable because the lady who is the manager over them who is old, with red orange looking hair, glasses & blue eyes has the same exact attitude and it's very disgusting to see someone who is in such a high position & is so old lack so much class. This HEB needs a reevaluation and a restart on customer service, because it's unacceptable. Standing hours in the deli, hours in the meat department. Only department who's always on top of it is the seafood market... everyone else SUCKS. This HEB will no longer get a dime of my money with their stinking attitudes. YUCK! read more

I go to this H‑E‑B every few days and it's always clean and busy. The checkout lines are alway going full blast no matter how busy they are. I find almost everything I need and in stock. If out of stock then I know it's a supply chain issue not an H‑E‑B issue. The checkers are always friendly and fast and I've never had a mistake on my order. Sophie was super rude on Saturday evening before Super Bowl. Gave me major attitude for not bringing bags.... Started instructing me to remove heavy items from the belt, told the customers behind me in a condescending tone "Sorry, he forgot his bags ‍" This has gone far enough, I DONT WORK HERE, THIS IS NOT A CO-OP I do not gain profit if the store does well because things are moving efficiently. When did employees forget why they're there, I think you need to take all your employees back to a training course about who exactly is the customer and who exactly is the business. Absolutely shameful especially as a Texas company I just can't, I'll be shopping somewhere else from now on. This is my favorite HEB to frequent. There is technically a closer HEB than this one, but I prefer it so much I am willing to drive a little more. Perks: huge selection of everything, produce is always good, large selection of specialty cheeses, and it's easier to navigate than other locations. The thing I am most excited about lately is that they added a huge refrigerated section of Simple Meals. These are individual meals that you can stick in the oven for 15 or so minutes and dinner is done! There are endless combinations. Whether you are looking for a healthy meat and veggies entree or something with pasta, you'll find it. My favorite is one that has a steak with herb butter, asparagus, and fingerling potatoes. These meals have made my life so much easier. I even use them to meal prep my lunch. I usually go on Saturday nights to do my weekly shopping to avoid the crowds. read more

HEB Pharmacy Circle C @ Escarpment Had surgery, pd for and set up pharm delivery at noon today. A man took the call around 10:40 am. At 5:55 pm RX are still not delivered. Spoke with 'Candace the lead technician-"( mgr had gone home.) She saw where it had been noted to be delivered but del. people were not informed. (?) Candace said : 1. too late to set up today. 2. Rx still there. IF I NEEDED RX THAT BAD I SHOULD HAVE COME AND PICKED IT UP MYSELF. (I had surgery and am not allowed to drive yet.) That was unprofessional/rude/total lack of regard for the patient's health/wellbeing.. I said "What if it had been life threatening if the patient didn't get it?" She said "HEB doesn't deliver-third party does it-not HEB's fault-third party's fault." What if patient cannot drive because of heart, whatever? Answer: should have found another way.Third party's fault-not theirs. I asked how was it theirs if del. never told. I ordered it-somebody asked for address/contact/made sure I would be here--then dropped the ball. "Candace the Lead Technician" was more interested in blaming 3rd party-than figuring out how to get rx delivered. Zero concern if patient was harmed in any way by the incompetence-Just "If you want it you should have found a way to get it."(ummm, I did) So, it's uber time. Not ONCE did she accept responsibility or "apologize for any convenience." I understand working with people all day--and the stress involved--but if it gets to where you are more concerned over who to blame than find out how to deliver,make it right or make sure it doesn't happen again--somebody needs another line of work. This easily could have been seizure med. or nitroglycerin to prevent a heart attack. I wonder if Candace will still be blaming "third party contracted by HEB-NOT HEB" instead of realizing that this could have been a life threatening mistake. (NOT just poor customer service here---I was shocked at the total lack of understanding the possible consequences to the patient because of the total lack of seriousness. Love the HEB in Circle C, my go to store! It is a good combination of Central Market products (great Naturals area!) and all the other stuff you need each week. Have been shopping here since it opened and it is large enough not to feel overcrowded - even on those crazy days before UT plays - Hook 'em Horns! The checkers have most always been polite and helpful, sometimes I do wish they had a few more baggers to help out. And I cannot say enough good things about their "take out" area, which has saved me on many occasions! Thanks HEB! read more

This HEB is very nice. They have a lot of selection and are very good at restocking, depending on the days you go of course. Highly recommend the butter tortillas but if you go on the weekends they are usually sold out. The staff has always been nice. The layout is fine you enter in on the right and you go throw produce, then cheese/bakery, meat and then the aisles. I wish the aisles were just a smidge bigger since it's Texas and Texas has huge shopping carts lol. The produce is fairly fresh and they always have unique fruits! read more

I currently live downtown and drive all the way to this location for all of my grocery shopping. This is the best HEB I've been to in Austin. My favorite things are the prepared foods (there so so many of them) and the bakery/deli. The HEB cooked meats like the turkey and roast beef are absolutely delicious and taste like holiday food. The guac and salsa are also salivatingly good. I also have to say the cheese selection here is phenomenal, and the Cajun frozen selections are really good too. This location can't be beat! read more

This is an awesome grocery store. Huge and great selection of products. They frequently have cooking demonstrations and carts offering samples, which is a nice little perk. Cons: long lines, no matter what time of day you go. Self checkouts are for 15 items and under ONLY. You must always bring your own bags. And sometimes the check out people and baggers can be a bit too chatty (sometimes you just want to buy groceries and get out quickly without all the small talk!) read more

I am a fan of HEB since I first started to shop there when I lived in Texas back in 2000. HEB has expanded into a must for any Texan. This was quite clear on Christmas Eve today while shopping for last minute food for dinner tonight. Steak and lobster if anyone is asking. Now, I am not a last minute person by any means. Type A personality all the way. However, I needed my hubby to help me out due to my recent knee surgery and he was finally back in town from a business trip. Plus Instacart doesn't delivery to me. WTF? The store was packed but offered a variety of food. The selection exceeded the HEB on machaca by a lot. I would rather come to this location than that one any day. read more

I live in Circle C and have come to this HEB for ten years (since it was built). In the last year it has gone screaming downhill. First they took away tons of their specialty items. No tobouli, no falafel, no WowWee sauce, no chipotle sloppy joe mix, no jerk seasoning. Then a remodel with no Cafe on the Run, just tins of ready to cook meals to try and compete with Blue Apron et al. Not to mention the drones running around with wire racks shopping for the lazies for their version of Instacart. Now, tonight I ask a roving manager for some Martha White cornbread mix since the shelves were empty. His reply "it's really hard to get to in the back, you should come tomorrow after they restock". No bulk carrots, no broccoli crowns, no garlic. My solutions, Randall's. GFY HEB, your customers made you, they can unmake you. PS: if I want to deal with Spectrum Cable trying to switch me to their shitty service I'll go to Walmart. Best store ever. They have everything. All the best gourmet items. And HEB is there us, ladies! A couple of months ago I was buying tampons and there was a coupon there for a FREE bag of Dove chocolate covered almonds. Then a couple of days ago the same thing happened! Only this time it was a free pint of Tillamook ice cream! The good stuff! It's like HEB is your best friend. And you are moody and all you need is some chocolate and HEB says, "I'm here for you. I understand how you feel. Here's some chocolate." So I've loved HEB for years, because it has everything I need for my family. It has end caps with complete meals put together. It has slot machines for my kids. It has parking spots for mothers with young children. Now they even have curbside pickup. But nothing compares to how I felt when HEB gave me chocolate and ice cream when I most wanted it. That's love. read more

Some faith in this store restored tonight. After posting salient portions of my Yelp review in the HEB feedback webpage, I got a call from "Noe" tonight, who is the grocery manager of this store. He first apologized for their stock out, and attributed it to a warehouse stock out that started three days before NYD. He agreed it was inexcusable to be out of a holiday product and pledged they would try to do better next year, but also confessed this has been a problem for several years running. He also pledged to work on the bread stock outs. He indicated that the stocking algorithm for each store for all items is formula based, and while they can manipulate the quantities slightly, doing so is "frowned upon" by corporate. For instance, he mentioned that there is no allowance made for children being out of school on holidays drinking more milk as one example. I pointed out to him that he doesn't know what he isn't selling because he's out of stock, and he agreed. Store managers are frustrated with HEB's buyers right now. The buyers have no accountability to the store managers or the customers, and that has to change. I have to say I agree with him. For now, we're all along for the ride while HEB tries to figure out whether it still is in the grocery selling business or not. I pledged to give them another chance, and he asked me to continue providing feedback to corporate. Fair enough. read more

Once again, I caught myself wandering the aisles for hours on end. I pushed the cart up and down, side to side, adding stuff to it, then taking it out. I love this store, it's clean, there are plenty of cashiers available, fresh baked bread, and freshly made tortillas de harina. I think I wandered for about two hours and walked out with a pack of tortillas, a loaf of french bread, some HEB Veggie chips, a quart of milk, and some pork chops. What? The prices are lower than Whole Foods and Central Market, and the selection is often times just as good when it comes to meats and produce. The bulk section is very well stocked at this location and they have good options for hard to find items like Goya olives, Thai kitchen coconut cream, specialty flours, and gluten free foods. read more

I drove all the way over here b/c this store was listed as "open until midnight" ... but actually closes at 11pm like many other HEB locations. This review is specifically for their Central Market Cafe on the Run Wednesday 6.99 Pepperoni Pizza deal. I stopped by today for milk, spinach and tomatoes (my favorite on the vine were on sale - only .77 /LB!) Then I encountered the free samples of pizza and my healthy dinner went straight to hell... Not wanting to heat up my kitchen I asked if I could purchase a whole pie hot? Yes, I picked out my pizza and handed it to the lady and it was pipping hot in 6 minutes! My only gripe is that Pepperoni is the only pizza that gets the 3.00 off coupon on Wed? I hate hate hate Pepperoni and had to pick each and every loaded slice off my pizza - if you love pepperoni you will love this pie as it is LOADED with the stuff I despise. And I am purty sure my dogs think I am completely insane for picking off the stinky stuff and throughing it in the garbage instead of feeding it to them... read more

This location is our primary grocery outlet. It is not without its faults as you have to dodge aggressive soccer moms in their SUV's while they are chatting away on the phone while driving and balancing their non fat double tall latte in the other. Making it into the main entrance of the store even with a small baby in your arms is reminiscent of my days of the 80's and the video game Frogger. With the entrance out of the way, the interior is beautiful and well planned. We spend alot of our shopping experience in the front portion of the store. Fresh produce and the seafood counter usually consume our basket. We also hit the chef's case for a pimento cheese fix (see recipe that follows). Pam's pimento cheese is a total bargain for $5.99 a pound. The deli at this location can have a longer wait that some restaurants in A-town. I've seriously waited 15-20 minutes to get a 1/4lb of rare roast beef. I love the meat counter. The folks are always willing to reserve me fat trimmings for various recipes. I also like the cooking stations scattered across the store but sometimes laugh at the recipes the corporate cooks come up with. My final observation comes at the check out lines when a staff member directs the customers like cattle to open check out lanes. Then its back out into Frogger land... Grilled Pimento Cheese Sliced bread (Oatnut works well) 2 giant tablespoons Pam's Pimento cheese Baby spinach leaves thin sliced tomato (seeds removed) Combine all ingredients and grill on panini press. This store was in the edge of Austin Tx, its surrounded by homeless encampments. The meat section was a very big disappointment, no 'meat case' per say. However, I met one of the managers, and he had the butcher cut me some very nice US Prime steaks, which they dont display. read more
