First time eating here. When we walked in we weren't sure they were even open because it was empty at 12:30 on a Saturday. They were open and two other tables filled while we were there. We thought they had a lunch special but they didnt. We shared a medium pepperoni pizza. The salad bar was also down. Overall it was decent pizza. I would rather go to Mooses tooth. I have also been here when they are having special events like antique doll sales because the owners are antique collectors. I wouldn't recommend getting the hot sandwich unless you want a calzone. Don't complain or you will be called an asshole and told not to return. If you try to explain to the shift manager (or whatever position she holds). You will be told that she doesn't want to hear it. I stopped in for a quick sandwich (as in something between bread) I ordered the hot Italian sausage sandwich. it took 30 minutes to make a calzone that I will admit looked tasty but was infact not what I ordered or wanted. I am relatively new to Anchorage (we moved here in January) and this was my first bad restaurant experience. Not for the food that looked good nor for the pleasantly nostalgic ambience that took me to the 1980s and not for the miss understanding about the unique sandwichs that bare uncanny resemblance to a calzone but it was in fact the 40 ish woman with blond hair and a blue shirt that had a crappy additude in dealing with customers. Love Guido's! This is an excellent place if you want to relax and feel at home. The wings are crispy and delicious, the pizza is always hot and fresh. You can order a large salad with all the fixings or serve yourself at the salad bar. You never feel rushed here and we'll always recommend them for pizza. The main feature of Guido's is that it is open LATE (that 2am is not a typo). Something that is extremely rare in Anchortown. If there is another place in town to get pizza and beer up until 2am, I want to hear about it! As far as I know, this is the ONLY place to get sit-down meal (and beer, this is key) until the wee hours of the morning. When I strolled in, after a ridiculously long shift at work, I thought the place was closed? Nope, turns out it was not! This is a very quirk, not at all fancy, spot. Highly disappointing. We ordered a pizza at 10:45 pm. After almost an hour, we still hadn't gotten our delivery. I called to check the ETA and the lady said it had already left the building (that was at 11:35pm). We didn't receive our pizza until 12:15 am. We were staying 2 miles from the restaurant. There's absolutely no reason why it took 40 minutes to deliver a pizza two miles away! When we got our pizza it was room temperature and the cheese had already hardened back up. In the midst of this current virus issue, we ordered pizza from Guido's as our first home delivery in a long time. The pizza was absolutely horrible and the order wasn't even correct. Hard to imagine how two burned pizzas could make it to our doorstep. Yes, two. A cook had to take it out of the oven and see it burned. Someone had to cut it (a super shitty partially cut job) and see it was burned. Someone had to box it and see it was burned. Yet, they delivered it anyway. It was seriously inedible and went in the trash while we scrounged up something to eat. Don't order from these clowns, it was truly shitty pizza. I love guidos. My absolute favorite pizza place. I always get great food and great service. Today 7/1/20 @11:39 I was not impressed with the driver. I have a 4 year old who really wanted to pay for the order. The driver obviously saw her with the money in her hand, but instead of him handing us the food he justs sits there staring with this stupid look on his face. Pretty mediocre, huge space of tables, but not very full on a Friday night. I got pretty irritated because they only have one kids meal of spaghetti and meat sauce and they won't tailor anything else to be a kid's meal, not even just meatballs when they have a mini meatball dinner $9.75 which is what I had to end up getting for my daughter. The meatballs are just okay and the salad bar is super pricey for what you get. Think maybe 10 different veggies to put on it with a one trip being $6.75 and you get one of those tiny round plates, you can't fit much on it, but if you get unlimited $9.75 they give you the oval plates? Weird... The staff is great, the only reason they got two stars. I wouldn't come back here just because of it not being kid friendly and also its just okay food, nothing to write home about. This place has gone down hill at a steady pace for several years now. The last two times I have ordered pizza here they have screwed up the order. Burnt one time with the wrong toppings and the second time they forgot to make the pizza. They of course rushed the pizza and it was a soupy mess and severely undercooked. In stead of offering me a discount or a coupon for the next time they instead offered to make it again. I said no thanks, I didn't feel like waiting an hour and a half for a single pickup pizza. Amongst the other issues that I had with the food I ordered spaghetti and meatballs for my children to share for dinner. It came with three meatballs. I called the business to ask what had happened, not believing that this could be the standard serving. The person on the phone told me that it was, that they had gotten different meatballs this time and so three meatballs cut in half was the full serving. He informed me that he was the owner and manager. And I asked him how he could stand behind charging $17 for less than a pound of spaghetti and three meatballs. We do and have lived Guido's for a long time. Their Greek salad is best in town and we add blue cheese to the house Italian which are both homemade. The Greek style pizza is also a favorite and you can order any pizza made this way with the garlic butter based sauce instead of the red sauce. Staff are friendly and customer oriented. When restaurant is fully open they can handle large group events and ball teams. Great service and exceptional pizza and other food items. A family favorite. read more

full disclosure -- I know as much about authentic pizza as William knows about singing. Until I have eaten a pizza in Greece, Guido's is my fix for Greek style pizzas. I can't remember if I ordered anything but the Greek style.. The dough is perfectly chewy and full-bodied. And the butter sauce is slap yo mama good. As far as I'm concerned, it is protein swimming in butter on dough perfection. And it is important to note that their quality is very consistent. I've been eating their Greek style for 10+ years and they always exceed my expectation. I also highly recommend their Greek style salad which has enough chlorophyll for a family of 4. There are die hard fans of Moose's Tooth, but for this local foodie, Uncle Guido rocks his world. read more

This place had me confused from the moment I walked in. THE POSITIVE: It was a busy night all over town and this place had tables available. It's huge.... Like Chuck E Cheese without the games. I ordered pizza and the crust was top notch..... Truly first class! Our salad was big enough to feed 4 adults easy.... We ended up taking two full large to go containers home packed with salad!!!! THE NEGATIVE: We were seated by a waitress wearing sweats and a dirty moo moo. Our table wobbled so much a drink would never survive. Yes, we moved to another table. Our next table was set for service yet had not been cleaned. I'm still trying to figure out how garlic bread crust flakes got on top of a ready for service napkin.... Really? It sounded like a children's summer camp was in session next door. Lots of camping style singing to the tune of a standup bass and ukelele. Nooooo, this monstrosity was coming from inside the restaurant. I estimate at least 20+ students were learning to play ukelele to the tune of, please god let this nightmare end soon. How the hell did I not see this group on the way in? My fiancée was starving and we had no choice.... We would be giving this place a try. The cheese bread was drab and tasteless to say the least. I know what your thinking.... Cheese bread? A no brainer... Yes, these people screwed it up. The garlic bread was basically a toasted butter/ oil bread.... Not much garlic. Probably the problem with the cheese bread. The white pizza sauce was basically onion grease with raw onion chunks throughout. I could have saved $20 bucks and bought a onion. The other specialty pizza we ordered had almost no sauce at all and what it had was reminiscent of Chef Boy O WTF!!! Our drink was never refilled in 45 minutes of service on a $70 tab? Finally this nightmare is over and we are packing up and ready to leave. The waitress was nice enough to bring us extra salad dressing for the to go boxes..... I went here after this years bodybuilding competition. They were very accomadating for our seriously large party. The food was good, but not seriously good. Our server had just enough sass to make him great. Refills were prompt and there were no complaints from any of our people and our 5 million different tickets. Menus is a single page printed on a computer, laminated and you can't customize your pizza. Cheese bread was bland and hard. Pizza, a medium sausage, tasted like microwaved left overs. My husband and I stopped in for a pizza lunch date and never got past the foyer. There was one sole body in the corner booth by the kitchen that looked at us but other than that there wasn't a soul around. My husband and I stood there for a solid five minutes waiting for someone to greet us or give us direction but no one came. After five minutes of standing there we gave up and left. The door had a bell on it for crying out loud. Good thing we're decent people. Anyone can apparently walk in and out unnoticed and access the front counter. We will never be back.
