I would like to update my initial review. The project to replace the old underlayment went a few days over. However, an unforeseen auto break down and the home owners association caused the delay. The Project Manager Angelo tried his best to schedule around the delays. Working the last couple of days, he made himself available to discuss the needs repairs. Wasted my and y tenants time. Says they do me roofs. Told them I need a new roof. Mario makes appointment, I tell my tenant. Then he changes it a day later, I have to talk to my tenant again. We had contacted several companies before landing on Guardian Roofs. Mario and his team were exceptional and went above and beyond for us. After the team removed our old shingles and had inspected our roof damage, Mario made it a point to take me up to the roof to show me exactly what needed to be done and what did not. He took time to explain why our roof had rot and water damage and what they will do to make sure the roof is not only fixed but improved. Mario was also very kind to personally help us dispose of other materials left by another contractor, which was not required at all, but he did it as an act of kindness to us. Emiliano worked on our roof himself after the team cleared the old shingles. He was efficient, timely, and had high standards of quality. He was incredibly hard working, especially in triple digit weather, and explained that he does this part alone to ensure quality, as not everyone is willing to do the job right. I appreciated him very much. Mario would come regularly to check in on the progress and answer my questions. He was always available to text as well. The end product was amazingly done. We went up to the roof in the end and the differences were night and day. Originally, our patio and roof were significantly damaged because of poor and lazy installation and repairs. They completely overhauled everything, including installing solar fans for ventilation, fixed our stove vent so it would properly clear the roof, and installed a cover for our exposed chimney. We left the Guardian Roofs sign at our front lawn for an extended time, so that our neighbors would reach out to them. Mario, our project manager , promptly called me back and came by the next day for site visit, gave us an official quote , shortly after. I was looking into replacing my 20+ yrs tile roof to the Tesla solar roof but after months of waiting (I pre-ordered the solar roof and it was stuck at the design phase), Tesla told me that they no longer serve my area and refunded me the money. As I was looking for an alternative, I came across GAF's solar shingles and I was very interested in them. Guardian Roofs is GAF's certified installer in SoCal area. Larry from Guardian Roofs reached out to me within a day after I filled out the "Request for a Quote" form on GAF's website. Told me about their company and we chatted about my needs for the new roof and solar system. Within the next few days, he sent me a proposal, explained every single detail to me carefully and patiently answered all of my questions and concerns. He truly enjoy working with Larry because he would find out the answers for any questions he wasn't able to answer on the call and actually called me back and explained them to me thoroughly. I called/emailed six roofing companies/contractors, only four responded within the first week with a quote. The quote from Guardian Roofs was the second lowest (cheaper than Tesla's solar roof). The other three quotes were traditional solar panels and reroof using the existing tiles. I quickly decided to go Guardian Roof's quote not only it's much cheaper than Tesla's solar roof, but their panels also looked much nicer than the traditional ones. My only concern was that without the space between the rack and roof, how would the heat generated by the panels being released? I asked Larry this question and he explained to me but I didn't quite understand, so I asked the owner, Justin, the same question during the installation and he explained to me by showing me the actual products. Turned out the combination of the underlaying sheet, GAF's Timberline Shingles and the actual panels were playing a big part in handling the heat. The installation took a week to complete. I'm very pleased that the owner himself actually came out a couple of days and climbed on the roof to make sure everything was done correctly. He was also there to answer all of my questions about the job. Additionally, GAF sent a technician from the San Jose headquarter to oversee the installation of the panels. Had my roof redone 2 years ago by Guardian Roofs, everything went smoothly no issues. No leaks, they did a GREAT job, in fact I referred them to a neighbor. Recently i had my roof power wash and fumigated, requested Guardian roof to verify that there was no broken tiles. need to have them check it out in order to keep my warranty. Mario came out to do the inspection, in fact he was the manager onsite for my re-roof two years ago which went smoothly. He checked and gave me the good news that there was no broken tiles from the powerwash or the fumigation. Also he answered many of my questions about my roof. It's been a long time since I've written reviews as a consistent yelper, but I had to stop by to write a review for Guardian Roofs. During this last heavy rain I noticed that my furnace exhaust pipe was dripping rainwater down into my garage and I wanted to get this fixed as soon as possible, during this short break, before the next big rain event that is expected this weekend. I was looking for roofing contractors last week and was able to schedule Guardian Roofs to come out yesterday. I'm very thankful that they sent Mario to come out for inspection. He looked up to the roof in my garage where the vent pipes were located and noticed that daylight was coming in from both roof exhaust pipes (one coming from the furnace and the other from water heater). He told me he would go onto my roof to inspect them, but unbeknownst to me he not only helped me inspect them but he also brought his caulking gun to help me seal the cracks on both exhaust pipes without charging me. I don't see any daylight coming in now!   I can't stop expressing my appreciation for this act of kindness, and this act of paying it forward, as I know other roofing contractors would most likely had me scheduled for this small fix next week, which is after this weekend storm, and probably nickel and dime me. Thank you Mario for giving me peace of mind for this upcoming weekend rain event and any future rain events. I've had a few small leaks over the past couple of years that were dealt with temporary fixes. I knew it was time, but the estimates for a new roof were much more expensive than expected. I even considered partial repairs. After 8 estimates, it seemed all roofing companies had some type of negative review and prices varied. I chose Guardian Roofs for their fair pricing, 20-year warranty, and Mario's attentive service. He emailed informations that I requested and dropped off samples promptly. Unlike some companies, he responded to my calls/texts promptly with a lot of patience. As I had many concerns after reading so many reviews; he addressed and assured each one. The crew, Ruben and Carlos, were impressive. I'm usually a little skeptical and like to see the work that is being done, so I went up to the roof every day to check the progress. Ruben addressed and explained each of my many questions. If there was something he wasn't sure about, he contacted Mario immediately. There were 2 incidents where Ruben gave me a "what you talking about" look in regards to an agreement made with Mario for the section of the chimney and getting some extra tiles at the end of the job. Even though the 20-year warranty covered them, it was quickly taken care of to my satisfaction. Overall, we are very pleased with their work. We would recommend Mario and his crew, without a doubt. We requested a quote for roofing and gutters, that's what they are advertising. We rather receive a verbal quote for solar that was twice as much as any other solar solution. We never receive the the real written quote. And they recommended that we ask some else for gutters. That made it very easy for us to decide. They didn't get our business. read more

I had my 35 year old terracotta tiles "re-roofed" - very interesting how they stack all the tiles at the top. Mario's team was here 7 days. The tiles that needed replacing were smartly installed on the back side of the house (away from street view). They took care of permitting with the city and cleaned up at the end of each day. Best thing I did was get the tiles cleaned. I highly recommend adding the power washing for a fresh clean roof. read more

We are very pleased with the quality of work our new roof looks great! The crew that showed up did a great job, completed the roof in the stated time. They cleaned up after the job was completed. Our complaint is with terrible communication with the representative that estimated the job. We committed to Guardian to do our roof mid February the first opening for install was in May. At the time we asked for roofing samples, we never received the sample, after repeated request we were told the supplier said they had been sent finally with just a few days before our project was starting and after another call we were told to go to a local supplier and look at samples. After the job was completed we received an invoice with no break down of supplies and labor, we were told they couldn't do that as our estimate was not itemized! This was a very disappointing and frustrating experience but with that being said we have a beautiful new roof that should keep us dry for years to come! read more

My warranty had expired and they still came out, fixed the tiles and did not charge me for the service. My roof is still in amazing shape. Was lied to about getting the permits, we were told,"waiting on the city" We went down to the city and they NEVER even applied for the permit. We had to constantly reach out for them to cover the roof as we have leaks. Guy was a no show for weeks now we have more damage. When he finally showed, was not an employee but a subcontractor and of course all the tarps blew off since they were not anchored down properly. The best part is they are now demanding $20,000 more because they indicated "its a big job, wasn't properly bid" If you want terrible service, liars, wait time for months along with them trying to rip you off for more money, then definitely use Guardian Roofing. Delays after delays. I contacted Guardian Roofs in May 2023. They send a sales guy who gave me a decent quote and an estimated timeframe of about 8 weeks. We signed the contract and then poof! No contact at all. Then late July, I call them to see where we are and they tell me that there have been issues with my project and that they would start mid-August... nothing. I call them again, they are very apologetic and tell me that they would start on Sept. 4th, the on Sept. 3rd they call me that the permits were delayed and it would not be ready until the 15th, we'll, the 15 came and went and nothing I call them again (because none calls you) and they tell me that they are so sorry, that they'll start on the 23. I receive a call from my "project manager" who tells me that it will be the 23 and that he would be here between 7:30 and 9. - he had no idea of the details of the project until I start telling him. Well, it's past 10 am on Sunday the 23, no contact from him, I call him and he ignores my calls and texts. I call the office and someone, the office manager, tells me that she has no idea of my project and that I should expect a call the next business day.. I would give them 0 stars if I could. My job was completed last week and I am very pleased with the work as well as how quickly it was completed. In the height of the rainstorm on Monday, I discovered a leak. Fearful the ceiling would collapse, I contacted Guardian Roofs and was told it would be Thursday before someone would be available. Later in the day, I received a text stating someone would be out by 5:00 p.m., that afternoon, to address the problem. Two gentlemen took care of the leak, preventing what could have been a major problem. Both gentlemen were not only knowledgeable, but treated my property with respect. My experience with guardian roofing was not completely positive. I wish the owner would reach out to me. Guardian purposely did not pull the permit. They offered to save me $1200 if I did not need the permit but I insisted and that is how the contract reads. On Day 3 he city of oceanside shut down the job. Guardian told me to get a permit and state I was doing the work myself. They will say that is not true, but it is. Unfortunately the crew did not replace all the termite damaged wood and resorted to doing so after the roof was installed. This created a extra work and a substandard roof. There were nails below the nails zone, a loose fitted vent, a missing vent cover (just a hole in the roof), nails that are sticking up under the shingles. no stanchions were used on my solar, instead they put L brackets over the already installed roof and a bunch of water proofing epoxy. Once of the solar panels is shaking around, not secured and they did not work. I had to hire an electrician to trouble shoot and restore the solar power. The roof on my garage cannot possibly be warrantied due to the installation. I asked the rep to deduct from the total the permit fee he offered to save me and the solar installation since that is so awful. Truthfully, that section and others should be re installed. Again, I think this experience was due to poor supervision. The rep tried to make it right, but because I have not paid the balance, their process has led to a lien on my home. read more

David was extremely professional and to the point. He and the company were true to their word as to when they would provide a quote and have the work started. Everything was very seamless for me especially since the project was difficult since I had many slopes, valleys, and skylights involved. David worked with me to ensure that my warranty was valid. I truly appreciate their work on repairing leaks and reroofing 3200 sq ft of roof. I had two other big companies that I signed with that fell through because they were not experienced or honest. Dan Hill, was going to be at my home between 10 & 11 a.m. today. He assured me even though he was in Orange Co. at 10 a.m. he would still be here just after 11 a.m. I knew that couldn't happen since I live in Banning. Then he said he would call me after his appt. in Moreno Valley. He never called, never showed up. I called his cell phone and the OC office...he finally just called at 5 p.m. with nothing but excuses why he didn't do what he said he would do. Regardless of his change in schedule he could have spent 1 minute to call or leave a message...he didn't until I made the calls I made. This tells me not to hire this company if this is their work ethic or lack thereof. read more

I hate this company; they sent a crew that couldn't speak any English, they demanded more money above and beyond the contract price, they left nails everywhere (I've had 2 flat tires now and picked up hundreds around our yard), they broke two of our plumbing vents, they covered over a kitchen vent, they shorted our electricity, they cracked our concrete driveway, and they left our garage totally roofless in the rain for a week without telling us they were about to do that. This is by far the worst contracting experience and I am burned by their incompetence. I am about to file a complaint with the California Contractors License Board. read more

Had an appointment for a quote on 3 2'x2' skylights to be replaced.... @ 8:20 am- 10 minutes before the appointment, the contractor calls me and tells me that "we don't do skylights only with new roof installation". I phone the main office ( with whom I booked the appointment) and told them what had happened- they do skylight replacement and they didn't know why he would say that. This company is based outside of San Diego and sub contracts with contractors that live in SD. I would be leary of using this company. There seems to be a disconnect and that's the last thing you need on any construction project. read more

I left a message and no call back all day. Wasted two hours of my day, waiting and getting to/from work during my lunch break. Not even a courtesy call. Doug in sales got all the specs within a day (5000+ sq.ft of roof) got up to the house very quickly and made a spot on estimate. Pulled all permits with no hiccups and scheduled inspections promptly! Sorry to say my experience was not good. The actually work looked terrible compared to some Of my neighbors roofing jobs ! I had to do some sealing and painting after they finished I even approached Dan my salesman but he just smiled took my money and walked away. I don't have record of a permit or the proper inspections that were suppose to be made. I don't even think they got the final inspection and I have no record of such. It's too bad because they were not even considered for a bid on two of my neighbors that have since re roofed with other companies! no response from anyone. Wow and nompermits ? Spectacular! The sales consultant showed up when promised. Looked at thee roof, recommended a high quality system, wrote up the quote and we agreed to the terms. Said that they would start in 2-3 weeks. 3 days later they called and said that they were ready when I was. They showed up the next day, did the tear out and installed the Owens Corning premium roofing system including enhanced exhaust and ridge vents. They completed the installation on day 2, did an exceptional job cleaning up. As side from a beautiful new roof, if you didn't know better, they were so efficient and effective that they were done Ann's gone before we knew it. We ended up with a 4 ft section of facia that needed to be replaced and literally within 10 minutes of making the call to the consultant, Justin, the company dispatched a field tech David who immediately took action to replace e the facia and cleaned up and gone. This company delivered the highest quality product with professional installation and professional services and timely follow-up. THEY DELIVERED LIKE THEY PROMISED! Oh by the way, when it came to a competitive price, they weren't the highest and they weren't the lowest, but they saved me $2500 from the higher bid I received from an extremely qualified and professional roofing company. Gathering quotes, making appointments I was contacted by what looked like 3 different names. I have me information including phone number. I am making appointments with different companies to get quotes. Everyone else is making the appointment via yelp's message system which is great to compare all side by side. This company "Guardian Roofs" refused to call me and insisted I call them. Seems small but it knocked them off my list to consider. If they contact me using 2 names then refer me to a third name what will it be moving forward if I have any issues with the work? Just didn't feel right when I told them to contact me and they said contact this person. When I said I will move on they simply said OK. The roof project went great and looks fantastic. Unfortunately it was the tearing off of old roof that is reason I didn't do 5 stars. They were not very careful during tear off of old roof and as a result I had two patio covers get damaged as well as marks on the outside of the house that required repainting. However, I give a hats off/credit to Mario and Guardian, they took full responsibility and did what it took to make it right until I was satisfied. Great customer service! I would recommend them for roofing..just if they do a re-roof make sure you have all your patio covers, covers, sheds etc protected from falling shingles. read more
