They installed a new roof for me. I chose them because I knew they used GAF top quality roofing materials and they got great award from GAF manufacturer. The price was competitive. The foreman sent me photos of the roof in progress twice a day. Which is great. They had truck in the driveway most days to load the shingles and wood they tore off or to unload new roofing materials, but they kept the driveway clean before they left each day. which is great. However, because they removed the old roof deck, tons of wood chips and shingle pieces fell down to the garage. They did not do a good job covering my stuff in the garage. It ended up with tons of dust and debris all over the place on the ground and covering my stuff. Some tiny wood chips and dust even got inside my washer. The foreman had my garage door open while the crew was tearing off the old wood and shingles, which caused lots of wood chips and shingles falling on top of the open door. Lots of the chips fell to the tracks and wheels and got stuck in the door section joints. This caused the door not being able to open and close smoothly. And it had very loud thump noise when closing and opening. Eventually the crew removed all the chips stuck in the joints and tracks. I just hope this incident did not cause long term damages to the door. They did not keep the site clean afterwords. There are wood and shingle chips and nails all over my front and side and back yards. My neighbors even pointed to a few nails in the areas outside of the sidewalks! The new roof looks great. The foreman took many pictures to show me the details of the roofing work, chimney, vents, etc.. It looks like they did a good job. I will have to wait and see if there will be any leaks later during the rainy season. But they need to save the homeowners time and headache by cleaning up the debris and nails afterwards. read more

If you want someone you can trust, don't use this company. They gave me a competitive quote, then changed the story and pressured me into paying thousands more. Roof measurements & plywood - My home is 1,300 sq ft (built in 1955 with 1x6 boards). - They claimed my roof was 2,800 sq ft, which didn't make sense. - I made them re-measure with me present -- it was 2,600 sq ft (still generously over-measured for waste). - That correction alone saved me about $500. They insisted I had to replace everything with plywood and claimed partial board replacement would only save me $2k-$4k due to a so-called "feathering" requirement. That was false -- broken boards could have been replaced individually and still passed inspection. They also said tar stains would fail inspection, which is not true. The inspector later confirmed the only thing that fails is structurally compromised wood. Because of their misinformation and pressure tactics (including having a material truck waiting in front of my house), I was forced into paying over $9,000 more than my original quote. Billing and payment issues - They tried to collect final payment before the final inspection passed. - Invoices were incorrect, and I had to show them the math before they admitted and fixed their own errors. Unsafe working conditions They repeatedly disconnected my water heater exhaust, allowing carbon monoxide to vent into my home. I had to warn them three times. I have three kids under 5, and this was a serious health risk. Poor cleanup - Shingles and trash were left in my hedges. - I had to climb onto the roof myself to remove debris. - Weeks later, I'm still finding nails and shingles in my gutters and driveway. Tried to cut ventilation I have 4 attic vents (3 on the house, 1 on the garage). They tried to remove one to save money, without airflow calculations. Only after I caught it did they agree to replace it. Damaged and unfinished work - They moved my AC electrical conduit and box and never re-secured them: - Conduit pulled loose from the electrical box - Electrical box unsecured - Wires exposed They said they'd fix it -- they didn't. My AC technician later found and repaired it. Bottom line If you hire them for a low price, expect: - Misinformation - Pressure tactics - Billing errors - Safety risks - Poor cleanup - Things not put back correctly Take photos, document everything, and add a contract clause requiring them to restore anything they disturb -- or you'll be paying to fix their mistakes read more

professional company, I am very happy with my final project. My roof looks great. Pros.-communicate every detail of the project at as it's happening with pictures and everything step-by-step. You get emails constantly with updates. Cons- original quote was $ 14 K. Slightly lower, which is what sold me and the presentation was great but the day of the stripping, I was informed that the entire roof needed to be replaced with a special plywood that would cost an additional $ 11 K. I feel I overpaid on that part but I was given 40 minutes to decide whether I wanted to pass an inspection or not. As the workers were at lunch. I feel, transparency is very important from companies, so that owners know ahead of time what the worst case scenario is. It felt like it was more important to keep the workers going than what was coming out of my pocket. So I wasn't happy about that going from 14 K to Almost 26K after everything was done. made me very unhappy! Sidenote - I understand contractors don't know what is hidden under, but I think it's important to show owners what it would look like if the whole roof needed replacement so that any additional costs are completely transparent. I wiped out my account finishing this project and went into a negative so as an owner, my advice is, just be prepared for additional cost and ask a bunch of questions. This was my first roofing job so I thought that I had asked questions enough to know what this would costs. The initial estimate it was sold to me as "it doesn't look too bad". "I don't think there will be additional cost" :/ The final project did end up looking nice. read more

Before getting started they took down my string lights and shade sails and moved all patio furniture to prevent from damage and took the time to put it all back at the end of the project. Everything got pretty dusty but I was impressed by how well they cleaned up all nails/demo debris everyday during the demo. (Sometimes staying until 7pm!). Since Top Roof was the lowest bid I received, I was sceptical about possible rotten lumber replacement upcharges (something that can not be determined until the shingles have been removed). However, they did NOT take advantage of me and charged a reasonable amount.
