The kale salad was the star!!! Can't believe it!
    Vincent P.

Ok well it's pandemic times to start.... The only thing that is affecting on this place is having a large, fun, bar like feel. That's ok though because the wonderful servers, def. including Dawn, delicious food and good drinks make up for it!!! So this is one of the many great places to stop in Stratton Mountain town to eat, right when you come down, I mean it doesn't get much more convenient then that!!! Stop in here today and ordered up a BLT Sandwhich and to try and be a little healthy I got the kale salad with quinoa on the side.... I never eat kale.... So the food comes out and I see a heaping serving of green, fresh as could be kale....I'm not a kale person, I do not ever eat kale by Choice other than blended in a shake.... WELLL...... That has changed!!! The side salad was utterly delicious and not really soaked in a dressing or anything. I could've had the largest bowl of this stuff ever!!!!! The BLT alwayssssss hits the spot it's so banging!!! Sourdough bread, generous mayonnaise, the maple bacon is thick and well cooked and always fresh avocado and tomato. Simple but done perfectly!!!! Always a spot I break for lunch when I'm at Stratton. Give it a try it won't disappoint!!!

Great pub to come get warm after a day of skiing. It's loud but it's friendly and we'll, warm. They usually have a band too and they're quite good. The place is so busy that you better come in off hours for food. The service is always efficient and friendly. They have a great selection of pub fare, ranging from nachos to burgers to chili and a very good selection of beers.

I love the new renovation. Much more table space, but still crazy crowded on a weekend ski day. Beer, good. Hot toddy, good. Fries, good. They even have healthy choices. You can't go wrong here if you need to kick back and take off your ski boots.

We had a nice lunch here before it got super busy. The nachos were awesome, and I also enjoyed my hot chocolate drink. Apparently it has been newly renovated, and you could tell-- very pretty inside, with an excellent view of the mountain. Would go again!

It looked pretty but tasted average. The brussel sprouts were just fried, no flavor, no balsamic, nothing. Bland ! The green beans were drowned in garlic which saved them. Espresso martinis were good. The yellow fin tuna appetizer was decent and the crispy rice it was served on was tasty. Still on the bland side.. more rice than tuna. We ordered a winter salad to go and it was literally such a joke of a salad, especially for the price. A handful of mixed greens, two tiny slivers of squash, a sprinkle of red onion, disgusting dressing, and a quarter sized amount of cranberries. Little 2oz cup of goat cheese (which was the best part). Absolutely laughable. We ordered the tartufo flatbread and again, just bland. Didn't taste any truffle and it just wasn't great. The best thing I had by far was the brownie with icecream. Definitely the best part of the gigantic meal we had.

Consistency like this is rare, and it says everything about the standards they keep. I started with the Pomegranate Granita Oysters, and wow. Bright, refreshing, unbelievably fresh, and balanced perfectly. They were the kind of oysters you slow down for because you don't want the bite to end. I ordered the duck ragu again because I couldn't stop thinking about it from my last visit -- and once again, absolute perfection. Rich, comforting, layered with flavor, and yes... I cleaned the plate spotless. Not a drop left behind. From the hospitality to the execution of every dish, everything about this restaurant screams class, quality, and a superb dining experience. The team makes you feel welcome, the food exceeds expectations, and you leave already planning your next reservation. Manchester is lucky to have a place like this.

It's as if they didn't even taste it for seasonings. I asked for salt. They offered to remake it, but I opted to try to make it edible adding my own seasoning. With quite a bit of salt, it was "ok", but the consistency left a lot to be desired. I probably should have sent it back and ordered a salad. A restaurant is only as good as it's food. For dinner, I ordered the Garganelli pasta dish. It was light and creamy. And ended the meal with one of their dessert specials that had white chocolate raspberry ice cream with strawberries - it was delightful. The restaurant itself was pretty cozy. Lots of high top and standard table seating along with a bar. They offered outdoor seating on the porch as well. There was also a fire pit set up outside with plenty of Adirondack chairs - I saw people drinking by the fire but I'm not sure if food is served in that area. Our server, Molly, was awesome!! Next time we are in Manchester, I plan to stay here - it's close enough to walk to town and the hotel / restaurant are highly recommended!

But the first table we were offered was right in the bar, next to the entry we had just come in from the rainy night outside. The table was noisy, drafty and unacceptable. Fortunately one of our party said something and sure enough, there was a very nice corner table in a nice dining room in the back part of the house, away from the bar. Barrow House is a nice, fairly upscale, American menu. The tables were just far enough apart so we could hear one another without shouting. Barrow House is part of a collection of inns and restaurants in Dorset. It's sister establishment, the Dorset Inn, is just a hundred or so yards away at the town crossroads. I'd eaten at the Dorset Inn, but years earlier and have never been to the Barrow House. The menu was a pleasant collection of interesting choices in ample portions. We ordered the fig pizza for the table. I had some very fine oysters; some chowder was enjoyed, and we were intrigued and came thisclose to having the tuna nachos. Maybe next time. Wine by the glass and two Green State lagers, which for my order of the wagyu beef burger, that came with plenty of fries, enough to share with the table, was perfect. All in all, a pleasant and delicious meal was had by all. It's a fine gastropub, as it is called. You can sit in the bar and watch sports (something I would never EVER do, but chacona son gout!) Or you can have a fun table with friends in the dining room. The service was professional and gracious. From where we live, it's a reasonable drive. Probably one of the, if not the best places to eat within that radius. And we would eat there again. [It was good enough that no pix taken]
