I really enjoyed the vibe here, cute spot! We sat outside facing the river, there was live music that was relaxing and not too loud or overbearing. Really nice atmosphere and our server was personable and fun. I had the lamb kebab, it was excellent! Unique cocktails as well, everything was very good overall. Will return. read more

This is a fantastic spot and n downtown Manchester! We've been here a fee wee times and the flood and service have been really good. In the warmer months, the outside seating can be busy and the inside will have some availability. The apps, drinks and meals are excellent. They have a really good menu and it's with exploring. Indoors, it has a nice rustic feel with the old building and modern updates. read more

Pops and I were checking out Manchester Center on my sniffari. Came in and they have an awesome patio over looking the falls. We good pups are welcome. My pops got his usual Guinness and artichoke and spinach dip. I got my usual ice cookies. The old man asked about their seafood and the nice lady said it is brought in fresh daily. Sure we will be back so pops can have the muscles and poke. read more

Service was OK and burgers were fine. I got a chicken BLT and it was dry as a bone and burnt along the edges. This restaurant puts bare minimum into effort and with all the places there are to eat in Manchester I will never visit it again. $162 for three meals no drinks. read more

My friend and I decided to get a drink on a gorgeous day and wanted to sit outside, and few restaurants in Manchester were open at 3:30 on a weekday, but Union Underground was. Our hostess and server were both adorably friendly , attentive and prompt! read more

Nice place to go to with a large party during the week when the weekend crowds are away. Everyone (the twelve of us) enjoyed the appetizers, meals, and beverages. I had the chicken pancetta which was pleasant. Something I typically don't order. Could have used a little more sauce though. read more

The food was delicious. Visited Manchester with family and Union Underground was recommended. I had the smash burger which was delicious and well made. Parents had the fish and chips, calamari and French onion soup. The fish was crispy and well made and the chips were yummy. The calamari was cooked perfectly and the soup was almost as good as homemade . The last dish was the Chicken BLT and the garlic aoli added lots of flavor. I also loved that the had a non-alcoholic IPA on tsp- a rarity. Our server was terrific too. All in all great experience and would come back again. read more

Might of been what we ordered... but we all ordered fish & chips - all of us are now taking turns getting sick at home. The fish was all very obviously re-fried from pre-fried and so were the fries and onion rings. Everything was tasted freezer burnt. We ate what we could because we were hungry and don't trust sending food back that comes out not good the first time. I love this atmosphere, but this is the second chance we gave it and as like the first time a year ago, we all got sick again. Something going on with the food storage and/or prep back there. Can't even say the drinks were good, as my standard cocktail was lacking the alcohol in every way that matters, especially flavor - which means they skimped, it wasn't even the right color. Not happy, just grossed out, again. We are local and gave this a second chance, not going back again. Word to the readers from a local if you are looking for a good pub meal - Mulligan's. I do have to say that service was excellent and my husband's beer was good as well as the pretzel appetizer. Maybe just stay away from the entrees and common mixed drinks off the menu. read more

I was very pleased with my dinner here with my daughter. We told the waitress we don't drink. She was not pushy, and offered us some local special non-alcoholic drinks. I chose the Maine Root Blueberry Soda. It was very good. She also did not refuse to my daughter ordering kids pasta. The only thing about this was it took forever to come. I was like if I was 5 and dead hungry, this would not work. But it was really good. I ordered the Bang Bang Chicken. Pleasantly surprised by how tasty it was! The wait staff was very friendly. There was live music if you choose to sit outside (Thursday night). Overall a nice find! read more

One of our favorites. Food is good, ambiance great IF your outside and service is always with a smile. They used to have an app of Duck Rangoon spring style rolls that were to die for. We would order several and share them. They changed last year and don't carry any longer. We have't been back as much as a result. Hey when you like something, you like it. read more

food was okay. not good enough for how long it took. was sitting at our table for almost 55 minutes before our appetizer came out. our server didn't check on us once, neither did they ask how it was, if they could get us anything else, nothing, they could barely be bothered to help us. if you have 3 hours and want a decent meal, this place is right for you. but after a long day and all you want is a quick, good, bite to eat, this isn't the place. read more

This is a very cool place you should be sure to check out. Walking up to it they had a brisket smoking which smelled amazing. The atmosphere is just great. The food tasted great and presentation was excellent. They create unique dishes so try something you normally eat. read more

Union Underground is actually underground. But they also have amazing outdoor seating. This is an underground restaurant and bar that just happens to be kid friendly. I only say that because I saw it for myself! In other words, their staff were so friendly I almost thought I wasn't going to make it out of there. They were noticeably friendly and informative. I received a lecture about appetizers and I loved it! To start off I had Cheesesteak Egg Rolls and Maple Thai Chili Chicken Wings. The wings were cooked perfectly and the the touch of Maple in the Thai Chili wings were like no other. As for the Cheesesteak Egg Rolls, even I was surprised how good they were. Crispy outer layer that held together really well and as long as I'm able to identify the ingredients within the filling, it's all good with me. For my main course I had the Smokehouse Burger. Cooked exactly how I like it, well seasoned and topped with crispy onions. Their Smokehouse sauce had the prefect amount of sweetness with a nice smokey aroma to it, complementing the burger in the most perfect way possible. What was there not to like? Not sure because my bun was toasted and buttered. They're making it hard for me to find discrepancies. Their underground dining area complete with a bar plenty of TVs, interesting/clean decor and the option of cozy group booth seating. Upstairs you can enjoy their beautiful outdoor seating which also had a really nice gazebo to sit within. So much good to say about this place. It was also nice to see so many people enjoying the underground dining area despite the beautiful weather outside. I will definitely be back next time I come up here. read more

We were staying at the Barnstead Inn which is very close to The Union. We opted for ordering online and take-out. My s/o ordered the Skillet Mac and while he found it delicious it was very salty. Maybe from the bacon. He also tried the Fried Chicken Sandwich and said it was good too. I ordered a Vegan Burger with BBQ sauce. They don't have the option of a vegan cheese just a FYI. I would love to eat inside once Covid dies down. Atmosphere seemed awesome. read more

COVID dining - Got take out and ordered through their website. They didn't seem to have received the order until we arrived at our pick up time - Once we did pick up our order, they didn't give us any cutlery/napkins (this was specified when we ordered online) - Duck wontons weren't my cup of tea - Buffalo mac + cheese weren't great either - Korean stirfry was good though, plenty of different ingredients - The portions are big which is good - The place looks pretty well decorated though. Must be a great place to visit pre-pandemic times read more

Food was fine. Service was not. They were definitely understaffed and overwhelmed. Took 20 minutes to be seated even though there were two tables open, one of which they eventually sat us. Once seated, ignored for another 10 minutes before we got menus. Ordered everything at once sensing the issues and got the appetizer before we even got the setups. Our drinks sat made on the bar for at least 5 minutes before another server brought them over. The bartender and a couple of other staff were on the ball but our server wasn't. read more

Sat at bar for a burger and beer. Place has a comfortable, rustic but sophisticated feel. It's mostly underground with some outdoor tables for warmer times. There is pool table and dart board and a couple of tv screens. My blue cheese burger was cooked to a perfect medium rare as I ordered. My Foley Brother's Fair Maiden draft was fantastic. I was impressed with draft beer lineup and the wine by the glass choices (Turley Juvenile Zin.). Not a huge menu but the choices looked good to me. Bartender friendly and knowledgeable. read more

Winters here!!!!!!! And we are back enjoying bomb drinks and bomb food at The Union Underground. We have German pretzel sticks to share to start and I ended up order the Buffalo chicken taco special. Both were amazing and I paired it with a cbd infused soda which was pretty damn good itself. My buddy got a country fried chicken which he said was amazing. The chef also came out and said hello and checked on our meal which we were slaying at the bar. Really nice people and really good service and food at this place. I usually hit it every trip up to Stratton mountain. It's about 25 minutes away and worth every second of the trip. read more

While in Manchester we passed the Union Underground while it was closed and were intrigued. It has a cute ambiance and atmosphere as soon as you walk in. It is underground so you walk down the stairs a bit into the dining room. We arrived just about when they opened and they sat us immediately. The place is clean and modern. It is nicely decorated and rustic. First, we ordered drinks. We tried to order the iced coffee on the menu and they said they ran out. Fine, so we had "Diet Coke". It did not taste like Coke or Pepsi, rather like a strange cola and was $3.50 each. Not major but just noted. Next, we ordered an appetizer, the Duck Rangoon. They were all out of those also and the waitress said they're taking them off the menu... so instead we got the special which was Korean Beef Wontons. Very yummy! The sauce and wonton filling was tasty. The menu felt a little limited. I had a burger. I asked for it to be cooked medium rare and it was medium well with no pink. Tasted average overall , but there was too much bun for the size of the patty. My partner had the scallops special. He enjoyed it but would've wanted a bit more especially for the cost. The dining room was busy for a Wednesday around opening. However, I really feel like this place needs to tighten up their menu and perfect what they have- in stock- to make it great rather than good. Not sure we'd come back. read more

I had the short rib dip, we also had mussels, and crispy chicken blt. Food was ok.. not very much meat on my sandwich and my au jus was cold. Crispy chicken blt was over cooked. The mussels were a hit. The staff was super friendly, and always on there toes. I appreciated them a lot I just wish the food was of better quality. So I give staff a five but food a 2.5-3. read more

We've been on a week long vacation of New England and our server Maria was the best person we have come in contact with. Originally we weren't hungry and just came in for beer. Just great vibe, great alcohol, wonderful guitar player who had amazing voice and played lots of familiar hits and food was incredible!!! Fantastic expierience!! read more

The layout and interior of this place is unfortunately the best part about it. I believe it's an old bank turned into a restaraunt (and the vault is still in there) which was a unique setting. I wanted to like this place a lot but it just fell short. My biggest complaint was the menu on their website was different from their actual menu. I went there because they had steak on the menu and it was close by. When I got there, steak was nowhere to be found and I was informed they don't serve it anymore. There were also a few other menu items that simply weren't there or were different than the one on their website. I got the chicken parm and it didn't taste very good. It came with linguine and as soon as you cut into it falls apart into the linguine and, unfortunately, the chicken was the highlight. Cheese was barely melted and the sauce was spicy (personally not a fan of spice and don't expect it in chicken parm). It just wasn't good. My friend got the flatbread for the shitake mushrooms and it came with...no mushrooms. Had to send it back. I finished my meal before she even started. Table behind us had to send their burger back 5 mins later. The staff is really friendly but you don't go to a restaurant to have a pleasant conversation. It sucks the food can't back up the staff. read more

I had a superb experience here. My friends and I got a table on the patio and you can hear the soothing, steady stream of a river nearby, the excellent drinks, and amazing food makes this place the one to go to if your in the area. I got the Buffalo chicken Mac n cheese which was some of the best I've had. We also got the German pretzels and chicken poppers, both were solid. I think the best thing though was the French dip sandwich. It was out of this world. The steak was perfectly tender, and the goat cheese spread with the Anjou made the bread nice and moist. Plus it comes with fries. Long story short, definitely get the French dip sandwich. I can't wait to go back! read more

I was looking for places to eat with my boyfriend for a casual but fancy early Valentine's Day dinner. I don't know why this place even gets any bad reviews to be honestly because there is not one thing we could complain about. Firstly, just walking into the place and it being "underground" was the coolest thing. The atmosphere is really nice with friendly staff! They don't take reservations but we were seated right away and it was decently busy. The Moscow mule with the bourbon was amazing. Our cheesesteak egg rolls were really good but I wouldn't describe them as "cheesesteak". We both got burgers for our entree. They were cooked perfectly and the fries were great! I'm also annoying and like to get a bunch of sauces on the side... definitely get the chimichurri sauce and herb aioli for dipping anything in! We didn't get desert because we were stuffed but I had my eye out for the s'mores skillet. Also our server was very sweet. Will definitely come again when staying in the area. read more

Things in Manchester close early, so we were having trouble figuring out what to eat on our first night in Vermont. We decided on Union Underground which had an interesting looking vibe and menu. The place has great atmosphere and very friendly staff. We immediately felt comfortable here. I ordered one of the bourbon cherry sour which I thought was very good. For appetizers, my fiancee and I ordered the beefalo egg roll and duck rangoon. Both were delicious and the thai maple chili sauce served with the rangoon was perfect. For entrees, my fiancee ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich and I ordered the short rib po'boy, adding their bacon-apple chutney which sounded amazing. The chicken sandwich was as good as a chicken sandwich gets - crispy juicy chicken, saucy but not TOO saucy, and flavorful without being messy. The po'boy was great too, with tender short rib and slaw. The fries were hot and crispy, and my fiancee's mac and cheese was funky and delicious. We felt this place had earned dessert, so we both ordered sundaes. My fiancee ordered the smores sundae which came with toasted marshmallows on top, and I ordered the espresso sundae. Both were good and made with Wilcox ice cream. Overall a really good bar experience. An elevated quality of food compared to your usual bar-and-grill. Would definitely come back next time we're in town! read more
