    Pork Ribeye
    Joel Z.

I've been coming back here basically every year when I come back home to Vermont and I will stand by this that the pork ribeye is the greatest bite of pork I've ever had. It's outstanding. I tell everyone to order it and they think how good can it be so they don't order it and then I give them a bite of mine and they instantly regret it. Just trust me and order it. Great atmosphere for a true Vermont vibe. The smoked trout chip dip is the perfect starter as well and for someone that doesn't like beets the beet salad is delightful. OH! Also the bread pudding is the perfect way to finish the meal.

January 2025 desert menu. So good I made sure to take a picture & Yelp it!

Location / ambiance were top notch. The food was fantastic. Their fresh baked rolls were some of the best bread I've ever had (and I lived in Paris for two months). The dessert was delicious. The service was top notch, everyone helped bus each others tables so there were never any empty plates & cups sitting for long. Would definitely recommend this place if you are considering. Also, their dessert & after dinner drinks menu had a lot of ridiculously good offerings.

Visited the Dorset Inn as part of The Shires' Holiday Inn Tours and decided to come back that night to get a drink at the bar. Very quaint restaurant and bar. Was expecting it to be expensive as it's a well known and historic establishment. Drink menu said one price, however when the bill came it said a different (more expensive) price. Just came for a drink, but the food smelled and looked amazing.

    Chocolate chip cookie sundae-SO GOOD

We had a wonderful dinner at the Dorset Inn Restaurant last night! We enjoyed a lovely summer evening on the front patio, with birds singing and the smell of flowers adding to the overall experience. We ordered the grilled shrimp cocktail, beet carpaccio salad, and two of the dinner specials-sea scallops and cod. Everything was delicious and presented beautifully. The dessert special was a chocolate chip cookie sundae made with honey ice cream (tasted more like fabulous vanilla ice cream) and if you are lucky enough to find that on the menu, go for it! Oh yes, the dinner rolls (add the cheese!) are well worth the few extra dollars. Natalie was our server, and she was great. All in all, one of our favorite meals on our most recent visit to VT (it always is).

Stopped in for a quick night cap before closing time. Due to COVID they close a bit on the early side at 9pm on the weekends. No seating at the bar, but you are welcome to walk up order and take a seat in the living room area to enjoy your drinks fireside on a cold Vermont night. They are practicing safe COVID measures, tables distanced apart and mandatory mask wearing. The drinks were great and well mixed. The inn is a super cozy and quaint situated right on the corner in the center of town and have parking along the street. Can't wait to make it back for dinner and a stay at the inn!

A long drive on a winding road brought us to this gem. We were seated outside on a perfect evening with a nice view of the town. We started things off with a Strawberry Paloma and a Skeleton Key cocktail. Service was good and friendly. We had a leisurely evening, which is exactly what we wanted. The place was busy, but courses were brought out in a timely manner. We started with a Crab Cake and the Soup of the Day. Both exquisite. We followed that up with the Roasted Beet Salad and Smoked Trout plate. The sole entree was the Soft Shell Crab. We can honestly say that the food is worthy of a Michelin star or two. Oh, and if you are a wine aficionado or a whiskey lover, check out their extensive menu selections. I ended up ordering a Sazerac. Oddly enough it was served on the rocks, but was a nice and surprising choice on the drinks menu. We ended our evening by taking a slice of the house made Key Lime Pie home for dessert. A truly great and memorable meal.

My husband and I have gone to the Dorsett Inn for many years and always enjoyed it. Nooney was the waitress back then and there was never a time where we were starving after we ate. Look at the portion sizes now and the prices are literally triple. We were so disappointed and we left without ordering dessert. Tonight, we were sitting in hotel rooms eating snacks because we were still starving from not eating enough food after paying over $300 for dinner, we got a phone call from the Dorsett inn asking us for our credit card because somehow they did not merge our bar tab with our dinner. When I told them how I felt about the way the restaurant is being run now with smaller portions, she said sorry you feel that way and hung up. We will never go there again!!!!! It is now officially considered a clip joint!!!!

Could you please tell me the room rate for one or two nights?

We had a suite and I believe the rate was about $225/night and it included a great breakfast. I think you can get a regular room for closer to $175.

We re-visited the restaurant recently for our 40th wedding anniversary, and I think it's only fitting to offer a view on what is best described as a bastion of excellence and gracious dining in Manchester village, Vermont. Situated in a refurbished former library building, the Silver Fork's setting, decor, and dining experience is indeed textbook flawless. Inside the upscale eatery evokes mid-century Moderne, a setting for the once popular Madmen TV period drama series; tony, chic, but hardly ostentatious and overbearing. On the contrary the high ceilings, lighting and space combine to offer that frozen glimpse of earlier elegance but alongside very contemporary culinary offerings. Table spacing accentuates a good use of space. We started with a "Rubies are Forever" Pomegranate cocktail with Pomegranate boba. The menu is large but not overbearing; a good mix of meats, legumes and fish. Equally the starters are enticing. French Onion soup is amazing but on this occasion we both chose the Duck egg roll with a special peanut sauce. Simply extraordinary and with generous duck portions. For an entree, my wife chose Mahi Mahi Fish, beautifully prepared over plantain. Despite being tempted by a brisket with horseradish sauce, the evening special, I chose the Ratatouille. Why? Prepared properly, this is often hard to find. The Chef's presentation of the southern French staple, was beautifully interpreted, accompanied with some goat cheese. We accompanied our meal with a glasses of red wine. For desert we shared the incomparable Caribbean Bread Pudding which is always a hit here. Allow to me to say our server Lynn showed a genuine experience both in the menu and wine list along with a pleasant disposition. We equally had the opportunity to chat with Melody the co-owner who, along with her husband Chef Mark, described their culinary Odyssey before coming to Vermont years ago to establish Silver Fork. Silver Fork presents a genuine chef-prepared culinary experience both in terms of cuisine as well as ambiance and flawless service. We'll be back!

First I must comment on the beautiful job that the owners had performed in transforming this Library into to a paradise for eating. Tables are spaced far enough apart that you feel that you are having a private dining experience. The art work is beautiful and arranged tastefully. The wait staff are courteous and respectful. You can tell that this is an upscale restaurant as soon as as you are seated. The food is the best I have ever had. I have dined in many Michelin starred restaurants but the food at The Silver Fork is beyond reproach. I must say that the cocktails are on the same level as the food served. I can't wait to return to Manchester so that I may once again experience this perfect meal. Diane & Larry Katz (NJ)

Our first visit was disappointing. The mussels were delicious as well as the calamari. However,…read morethey served me three large filet "medallions" each one cooked differently: medium rare, medium, and well done. Most of it was stringy, they offered only potatoes as a side, and "whatever the chef decides on a particular day." My husband's filet mignon was overcooked and dry, his potatoes lukewarm, and scallops overcooked. He told the waitress who offered to take the scallops - not the entire plate. The manager came over to apologize and asked my husband if he'd like to try anything else but he was too disappointed and lost his appetite. He explained that we were celebrating our anniversary but the woman didn't care to acknowledge it. After all that, the waitress returned and asked if we wanted to see the dessert menu without apologizing about our meal. Very unprofessional. We declined, paid the check, and left the bare minimum tip, which we never do. We don't blame the waitress for the food, but for her service technique and disinterest in her patrons' needs. Oh, they didn't charge us for my husband's meal but lacked the courtesy to tell us in person. Needless to say, despite the charming atmosphere, excellent salad bar, and incredible appetizers, we will not return. Maybe the chef had an off night, but what excuse did the staff have?
