Really cute place with a little store and eatery. There was a pretty extensive sandwich menu- we decided on the Dorset Peddler and the crispy chicken wrap. The sandwiches were hot, packed, fresh, and flavorful. They came with seasoned crispy chips that made the perfect side. There were also a ton of desserts to choose from that all looked fantastic- we decided on the pumpkin cheesecake. The pumpkin on top was made of pumpkin-flavored frosting which I thought was a cute extra touch. The cheesecake itself had great texture. I wish it had more of the cream cheese frosting and I wish it was a little less pumpkin spice tasting versus just pumpkin. Overall a very cute place everyone should check out! read more

Stopping through this charming VT town on my way to Orvis and Outlet Shopping and needed a lunch. There are way more choices that I'd have thought but this place was recommended to me by a local who goes there several times per week. It is good ... not amazing ... but consistent and has a pretty good menu with something for everyone. Mostly breakfast and sandwiches/soups. Very good baked goods! I would call it a coffee shop with food options. The oatmeal cookies were huge and very tasty. The only thing I didn't love was the seating arrangement. It is a small restaurant and the tables and chairs aren't at all comfortable. My ass was numb from the hard chair halfway through the meal and I felt like our table neighbors on both sides could hear a little too much of our lunch conversation and vice versa. If you are coming for a quick bite or coffee and a pastry, it's a good and relatively inexpensive (in the inflation days anyways ...) option for self-service food with no waitstaff. I had the grilled cheese sandwich and soup ... my dining companion had a sandwich. We both left very full and happy. read more

Stopped for a coffee, hot chocolate and a scone. The scone was very dry, british style, definitely could have used a spot of honey if we'd eaten in. The coffee was amazing, and the hot chocolate was decadent. Very clearly a popular Sunday morning breakfast place, and takeout as the line was quite long. I got a free coffee with a yelp checkin and there is almost no better way to find out that perk than when you're already in line! One of my favorite spots in Dorset! It's always a go too breakfast spot and sweet pick me up when im in town. It will not disappoint! The spinach and cheese croissants are among my favorite. Make sure to get it warmed up a bit, it tastes like it just came out of the oven. YUM! Try to get there early, they don't make a large stock of these everyday so you'll be disappointed if you don't get your hands on one when you're in town. They also offer a variety of other savory and sweet croissants. All are extra flakey, buttery and just delicious! Today we also opted for the breakfast burrito. Delicious! Great balance of flavors and the right amount of heat with the chipotle sauce. It's going to run you about $13 if you add meat, so it may be the most expensive breakfast burrito you have had but it's delicious. They have a nice indoor seating area and outside as well when it's not Vermont winters. Perfect for a morning cup of coffee and breakfast. I will say, it's not the cheapest place, but the items are quality and you won't be disappointed. Overall, would recommend for a nice breakfast spot or to grab a sweet treat. read more

Since learning of this place, we have been there maybe 10-12 times. It was our "go to" place for great sandwiches and we have spent a lot of $$$ there. WE WON'T GO BACK NOW! It's 4th of July weekend and my family and my brother's family wanted to head over to the Vt. Country Store so we went here on the way. Six kids, four adults. Six picky eating kids, I might add. So we sat outside on a very rainy day to not bring attention to the huge group and since the kids wanted sandwiches their grandmother made for them. The adults ordered their lunch. The attitude and looks we got from the staff was ridiculous! It was clear that they didn't like that our kids, ranging from 4-14, were eating brought sandwiches. It was VERY clear!!! We even had someone walk through our two tables moving chairs out of the way, to simply interrupt our meal. I get it if we were there using their outside seating as a picnic area, without buying food BUT we spent $75 on food and have probably spent $500 there over the course of a year. We were a supporter of them through Covid when you had to pick up your take out from a table in the parking lot! We didn't bother anyone, we left and cleaned our own table, they were simply rude to us. I would have said: "GO HERE!" but I would suggest anyone eat here now. As others mentioned, their prices are outrageous - but not only that - they advertise one price on their board and ring you up for a different (higher) price. I ordered a double pumpkin spice latte, which was advertised on their "specials" board for $4.95. I opted for oat milk, so I did expect a bit of an upcharge for that add on. But when they rang me out at the register, it rang up as $5.95, then they added $1.00 for making it a double, and $1.00 for the oat milk. So $7.95 total. I ordered exactly what was advertised for $4.95, but with oat milk, so at most it should've been $5.95. This was made all the more disappointing once I tasted the latte - it had very little flavor (espresso or pumpkin) and mostly tasted like warm milk :( I expected so much more from this place. Even in COVID, I don't think this was an understandable way to operate. Can't recommend. read more

I walked in to find the staff helping a customer who's wife had a lot of allergies. They went above and beyond to make sure they took care of them. It took a while but he left happy and so did I. I really enjoyed my breakfast at the Dorset Bakery. There were many tempting options for pastries and dessert, but I stuck with the savory egg panini. It was chock full of fluffy scrambled eggs, topped with sharp Vermont cheddar and served on lightly toasted sourdough. I added bacon, which gave the sandwich a smoky, meaty flavor. I appreciated that my sandwich came with some apple slices and a strawberry as well. My husband tried the house made sesame bagel with cream cheese and he was very happy. Like nearly all of Vermont, Dorset is pastoral and gorgeous. I loved that the Bakery offered a large covered patio for outside dining, as well as some uncovered seats on the lawn. I enjoyed watching birds and squirrels and chipmunks scurry around. The indoor seating area was also spacious and visually appealing. This place is great! Came for breakfast of avocado toast with eggs, tomato and mozzarella and it came all sperate which was unexpected but I just made my own sandwich. My partner had the cinnamon french toast which was really good with nice thick slices of bread. We had the raspberry filled cro-nut to share, which I'm not sure why it was called a cro-nut since it was square puff pastry with jam inside but either way it was really good and crispy on the outside. Pressure to order immediately upon arriving. $12 tip added onto my credit card from a computer glitch with their lagged touchscreen. The woman scolded me multiple times for the error in front of other patrons... very embarrassing. A patron actually made a comment about how rude she was to me after I just spent $43.
